TIME100’s Most Influential List is a who’s who of wokeness

Each year Time Magazine puts out a list of 100 people they feel are the current most influential people in the world. Good or bad.  This year the list is chock full of people trying to change the world for the better… with some obvious exceptions.

Dr Anthony Fauci, President Donald Trump and the founders of Black Lives Matter… all sharing space on the list that aims to give readers an idea of where we are in our quest for better idols.

In a tribute to the ‘woke’ heavyweights of the last year, BLM founders Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza and Opal Tometi were joined on the annual list by Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade who were praised for raising their transgender daughter Zaya while soccer player Megan Rapinoe was hailed for her LGBT rights advocacy.

Here’s the complete list and don’t be ashamed to google some of these people.  I did on 40% of them.

Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner selling NYC Condo

This place is a STUNNER.  The soon to be parenting team of Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have decided to plant their roots in Los Angeles.  And as such, they need to unload a fairly large condo they own in Nolita, NYC.

Thoughtfully laid out with separate living and bedroom areas, this approx. 2,907 sq foot home was designed with impeccable taste. Stepping from the keyed elevator into the private foyer, you are then greeted by the formal entry hall. Upon entry to the home, you are welcomed by the jaw-dropping 49 ft. long loft-like living space.

Asking $5,900,000   3 bedroom, 3 bath over 2,907 square feet.

Kaepernick’s Rookie Jersey is coming to auction

Kaepernick’s Rookie Jersey is coming to auction

Colin Kaepernick, the football player who arguably started the BLM movement, began his professional career in 2011 with the San Fransisco 49ers.   And now the jersey he wore that first season is coming up for auction at the famed Juliens auction house.

The jersey, which is signed by Kaepernick, was worn by the quarterback on Oct. 2, 2011, when he entered the 49ers’ game against the Philadelphia Eagles in the first quarter. The seller wishes to remain anonymous.

Kaepernick, 32, has since become one of the most prominent and controversial sports figures in the United States.

“He’s a cultural icon. He’s up there now with Muhammad Ali, Jackie Robinson – somebody that’s using their fame to make a peaceful, powerful statement to highlight and bring attention to inequalities,” Martin Nolan, executive director of Julien’s Auctions, told Reuters.

The auction isn’t till December (we’ll totally be keeping an eye on it) and experts are saying it could go for $100,000. Which, per usual, I consider WAaaaaYYYyy under it’s potential.  Mark me down for nothing under $500k.

Banksy loses copyright on one of his most famous pieces

Banksy loses copyright on one of his most famous pieces

Banksy has been stripped of a trademark for his most famous artwork – because he refused to reveal his real identity to judges.

The ruling on ‘Flower Thrower’ may set a precedent for his other creations around the world.

The street artist, who has previously declared that ‘copyright is for losers’, lost his two-year legal battle with card firm Full Colour Black.

Judges pointed to the fact that ‘he cannot be identified as the unquestionable owner of such works as his identity is hidden’.

Banksy had applied for an EU trademark of the piece, which was painted in Jerusalem, six years ago – but this was challenged by a card company because the artist did not want to merchandise it, but created it as artwork instead.

Full Colour Black specialises in ‘the commercialisation of street art’ and uses Banksy’s creations. It boasts on its website: ‘We have Banksy images that you probably have never seen before.’

Three judges ruled that Banksy had made graffiti which he put on other people’s property freely available for use.

I’m a long time Banksy fan, but this makes complete sense.  These works weren’t commissioned. In all honesty, he should be fined for painting on someones business.  But I’m glad he wasn’t. I want him to be fruitfal in all his endeavors.

Sopranos star Lorraine Bracco getting an HGTV

Sopranos star Lorraine Bracco getting an HGTV

Lorraine Bracco is trying to live the dream in Sicily, Italy on a budget.

The Sopranos star is renovating a 200-year-old home that she purchased for only one Euro as part of the new HGTV show My Big Italian Adventure.

For the past several years, cities in southern Italy have been selling off abandoned, dilapidated homes for just over a dollar it tries to re-populate the small towns that residents have abandoned for bigger paychecks in large cities.

The home is a 1,075-square-foot property that needs plenty of TLC – there is no electricity, running water, kitchen or bathrooms. And the floors and roof also need to be replaced as they have rotted.

It is located on top of a hill in the small town of Sambuca di Sicilia in southern Italy.

She has three years to complete the home, which is part of the deal, but that is no problem for the star.

When she arrives at the villa, it shows signs of longtime neglect. It is her job to figure out how to get the place in working order.

But Bracco does not have to do it all herself – she has the help of an architect, contractor and construction crews from the area.

‘I believe life is an adventure,’ said Bracco.

‘When I saw the article that you could buy a house in Sambuca for one euro, I jumped on it. So, I came on the plane. I bought the house.’

She added, ‘I’m very excited to be here, meet and work with the locals, and live amongst them. I’m here to pay homage to my family that comes from Sicily.’

The show is slated to air October 30th on HGTV.  I’m I’ll in.

Lindsay Lohan sued over book she never wrote

Lindsay Lohan sued over book she never wrote

She’s at it again.  Can Lilo please just treat one opportunity like she gives a shit?  Seems not.

Publisher Harpercollins is suing Lindsay Lohan for nearly $400,000, claiming the actress never delivered a manuscript for a book deal struck over six years ago, new court papers say.

The “Mean Girls” star, and her company Crossheart Productions, entered into a contract with HarperCollins on March 27, 2014 for a book that was originally due a year later, a Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit from Thursday alleges.

The publishing house gave Crossheart a $365,000 advance for the deal which “was given to Lohan,” but the manuscript never materialized — even with a two year extension on the deadline to March 15, 2017, the court papers claim.

By September 2018, HarperCollins let the “Freaky Friday” actress’s reps know they were terminating the contract and demanding a return of the advance, the filing says.

“By failing to return the money to the Plaintiff upon the Defendants’ breach of the agreement, the Defendants have received a windfall and have been unjustly enriched,” the suit charges.

HarperCollins lawyer Jeffrey Maidenbaum confirmed, “She did not turn in a manuscript and the book was never published.”

Lohan was slated to write a book about her troubled life largely based on a journal she kept during her 2013 stint in rehab. The book deal was slated to be worth $1 million.
