Melania Trump covers the latest issue of DuJour Magazine, and this might be the best interview Melania has done thus far. And I’m saying that as someone who enjoyed Melania’s crazy GQ interview last month. This DuJour piece is even better! Melania comes across as unapologetically elitist, hilariously vapid and politically tone-deaf. Basically, it sounds like she and Donald Trump are perfect for each other. You can read the full piece here (it is long, but totally worth it), and here are some highlights: She doesn’t drink Starbucks: “I don’t drink Starbucks,” she says. You don’t drink coffee? I ask. “I drink coffee, but I don’t drink Starbucks. My son likes it, the what do you call it? The Frappuccino? He likes that.” The Clintons’ wedding gift to the Trumps? “I don’t think they sent a gift. Some people didn’t send gifts.” How she’s been misrepresented in the media: “That I’m shy. I’m not shy. I know what I want, and I’m selective.” On Chris Matthews’ leering comment about her model-strut: “Unbelievable. That’s what I’m saying! I’m not only a beauty, I’m smart. I have brains. I’m intelligent… I would just say, Men will be men.” Where she shopped for furniture when she first moved to NYC: “I went to Crate & Barrel. Does that still exist or no?” She moved in with Trump before they were married: “When I moved here with my husband, we weren’t married yet—so I kept my apartment.” Meeting Michael Jackson: “I met Michael Jackson. It was here in New York in the Pierre Hotel. He called us, so we went over and we had dinner. Just after dinner, we were chatting on the sofa and my husband went into another room to see some art somebody wanted to show him. And Michael said to me, ‘Hey, when Trump comes back, let’s start kissing so he will be jealous!’ ” They didn’t kiss, she says, “No, no, no. But we were laughing so hard.” She’s not a famewhore: “I have a life. I go out every day. I bring my son to school. I pick him up. I’m not an attention seeker. I’m not the one who calls paparazzi, ‘I have lunch with the girlfriends, and I’m going to this restaurant.’ I get along [with] the moms at the school pick-up, it’s ‘Hello, how are you?’ But it’s not friends friends. I like quality over quantity.” Her 10-year-old son doesn’t sleep on the same floor as his parents: “The third floor is Barron’s. It’s much easier that way. For him as well. He has friends over, he has his toys. He has a play date tomorrow and is bringing two friends over. They come here, they go upstairs and they play. They kick a ball, they play with iPads. I don’t allow Xbox before homework is done.” What happens for immigrants, like Melania, who want to come to the US legally: “The law needs to be changed to help those kind of people. But they can’t just sneak in and be here. That’s what I’m saying. I do have sympathy. I’m a very compassionate person. But don’t sneak in and stay here without papers. We need to follow the law. If the law needs to be different, we need to do that.” On Louis CK calling Trump “Hitler”: “We know the truth. He’s not Hitler. He wants to help America. He wants to unite people. They think he doesn’t but he does. Even with the Muslims, it’s temporary… Maybe he needs to say it in a softer way. He doesn’t go after religions. He feels like we need to know who’s coming to this country. If not, we don’t have a country. That’s how he feels. We see how he is, and he wants to unite the country and bring people together and bring jobs back.” On campaigning in Iowa: “It was kind of a fun experience. We stayed in a hotel. It was clean. It was, I think, a Holiday Inn. You do it in a fun way. My husband knows me and how I am. I like beautiful stuff. I live the life. It’s funny when we go and travel. They don’t have five-star hotels there, but you go with it. It was a great experience in Iowa, because we went to an Evangelical church on Sunday. The church we got married in is very different. In Iowa there was a band, there was singing. It was very different, but it was a great experience. Being on the campaign trail and traveling around the country is hard work.” [From DuJour] Aren’t these quotes amazing? The Crate & Barrel thing, the way she obviously charmed by the peasants in Iowa, the way she has to mention that it’s hard work on the campaign trail because there aren’t many five-star hotels. What else is there? Her obliviousness to the privilege she had as a white, European model immigrating to the US versus those other people. The fact that she keeps insisting that she’s all about being a stay-at-home mother while her 10-year-old son has an entire floor in Trump Tower! There’s also a lengthy section where Melania tries to convince DuJour that Donald Trump values her ideas and that she’s one of the few people who can really advise him. UGH LEAH. On the one hand, Leah Messer takes a beating from Teen Mom 2 viewers and it makes you feel a little bad for her. On the other, she does sh** like this that makes you forget those feels from just a moment ago. On this week’s episode, Messer, 25, took her girls to the playground.  Fine.  A great day out. Messer was more focused on her love life and her lunch to keep an eye on her kids. “I don’t want to be in a relationship, I need time,” Messer told her friend. “I’m focusing on my kids… I’m learning how to embrace struggles.” As those words left her mouth, daughter Ali fell out of a swing, landing on her back and head (the six-year-old sufferse from muscular dystrophy). Messer did rush over to the child as soon as the accident happened, but fans were ticked off because they didn’t think she was paying close attention. All she did was wipe off her back.” To make matters even worse, 3-year-old Adalynn (Messer’s daughter with ex-husband Jeremy Calvert) was climbing to great heights on the jungle gym. “Addi with NO SUPERVISION,” yet another viewer wrote, blasting Messer’s negligence. If you’ve been living under a rock for the past three months, then welcome back!  Also, you missed some pretty important things, though none more important than Scott Disick’s re-entry into the Keeping Up With The Kardashians fold! “Scott has been filming for several weeks now,” a source close to the Kardashians told Radar Online. “He is being paid on a per-show basis under the assumption that he is sober. Scott goes through phases where he is a mess and burns it all down, followed by months of playing the role of responsible father. This is just how it is,” the source added. “Kris does not care about what is best for Scott anymore. She is using him for show ratings!” #Family “She knows that people want to watch Scott especially now that he is unstable,” the source went on.  “Also Kourtney gets bored when she’s not fighting with Scott and all of their drama did really well for the show last season.” Is it? A few months ago, GQ did a feature on celebrity club appearances, and accompanied Scott Disick to 1OAK in Las Vegas. One club goer was celebrating her 21st birthday at the club, and when asked why she wanted to spend it with Disick, she explained that he “is a dick, but he’s funny.” And there you have it. Olivia Wilde on ‘Vinyl’ fashion: ‘People in the ’70s apparently didn’t have hips’

The last time we talked about Olivia Wilde she was discussing the merkin (pubic wig) which she has to wear for nude scenes on her HBO show, Vinyl, set in the 1970s. I was surprised at how many of you had strong feelings about that issue, particularly Olivia’s embarrassment at having a hirsute nether region, even temporarily. I don’t think she was saying that hair down there is hideous, just that she prefers more grooming in that area. To each their own. Some people like their hair long, some like it short. Now Olivia is discussing the fashion on Vinyl, specifically the real vintage clothing they wear. She’s representing H&M’s conscious collection, so that’s part of the reason she’s talking about this issue as well. “I’ll walk around with the wardrobe assistant saying, ‘I want that one, I want that one.’ I really have been so inspired by all the wardrobe across the board,” Wilde told PeopleStyle at the H&M Conscious Exclusive 2016 Collection event in N.Y.C., adding that not all looks work on her: “I can’t fit into any of the pants because people in the ’70s apparently just didn’t have hips. I guess that’s all the hormones in our food, but I don’t understand it. You pick up the jeans and they’re straight — there’s no butt and there’s no hips. They’re for a straight body.” The actress added that there’s also a 2016 pants trend she has trouble pulling off: Boyfriend jeans. “I try to wear the trend, but it always looks terrible, because I have really short legs,” she shared. “Almost everything we wear on the show is real vintage. And that’s a lot of effort on the part of our designer and on the part of the team,” she shared. “We have a whole kind of workshop to take real vintage items and fix them — because when you buy vintage you sometimes have to do a little bit of tailoring and cleaning. We should just be buying things that already exist as oppose to trying to mass produce everything new. Plus, it’s fun to buy things that have a story so that you can say this is a vintage Halston, a piece that has been around.” Wilde has also been going to vintage shops since she was 12, so she’s now a pro at repairing old clothes. “Now I know what to look for and know what to do when I see something that’s messed up. You can buy it, take it to a seamstress and it’s not that expensive fix it, clean it,” she shared. “It’s much cooler to have something that has history than to just buy something new.” Her passion for recycling old clothes makes her the perfect person to partner with H&M on its latest Conscious collection, hitting stores Thursday. Wilde starred in the campaign last year, and this year she’s continuing to spread the brand’s message of eco-friendly fashion. “We think that we’re going to sacrifice style in order to be sustainable, and that’s not true as this collection proves,” Wilde said. “That’s what I love about what H&M’s done this year and last year. They are really good at showing that you can wear a piece that doesn’t necessarily scream sustainability, but just happens to be taking advantage of this new innovation that they’re investing in. I think they’re very smart about the whole process and pioneers within this movement, which I didn’t necessarily know before. I think I connected H&M with my idea of what fast fashion meant to the world. I didn’t realize how much work they were putting in to changing that.” [From People] While it’s true that people in the 70s were smaller than they are now, I think that saying that they didn’t have hips is like saying women in the 50s had pointy boobs. Straight legs were just the style. Plus when you’re talking about vintage fashion, the stuff that’s left is whatever people haven’t bought yet so of course it’s the outlier sizes. I haven’t watched this show yet but I have to say that I love the vintage fashion on The Americans especially. It’s set in the early 80s and their coat p0rn is amazing. I recently read a book by a costume designer for television called How to Get Dressed. The author, Alison Freer, says that fit is key to looking polished, not following trends. She emphasizes tailoring, which is exactly what Wilde is saying here about shopping second hand. You can really see the work that goes into the clothing on television and that book gave me a newfound appreciation for thrift shopping. Kailyn Lowry & Javi Marroquin Fight Over Racy Photo, Unfollow Each Other on Twitter

After months of rumors that Javi Marroquin’s deployment has been putting their marriage to the test, Kailyn Lowry may have just kicked her husband to the curb in very public fashion. Javi has been overseas with the U.S. Air Force for the past three months, and photos of Marroquin with a mystery woman surfaced online shortly after he left, leading to reports that he and Kailyn had called it quits. At the time, sources close to the couple insisted they were still together, but now a different photo (and a different woman) may have caused Kailyn to pull the plug on her marriage of three years. In a truly bizarre twist, Marroquin seems to have ratted on himself by admitting on Twitter that he recently sent racy photos to a female friend. “The snap I just sent @Kimberlyyy_Rene #onmycalvinkleinshhh,” Marroquin tweeted, implying that he was in his underwear in the pic. Asked how she feels about the strange confession, Kailyn tweeted, “Borderline inappropriate but it is what it is.” She deleted the tweet moments later. Marroquin tagged Lowry in a tweet that read simply, “Don’t,” but he also deleted it. When a fan assured Marroquin that Lowry loves and misses him, the 23-year-old replined, “Haha too late.” At some point in the last 24 hours, both Kailyn and Javi stopped following each other on Twitter and Instagram. A rep for the couple recently issued a statement assuring fans that the couple is “not legally separated.” Not exactly encouraging words. The Guardian brilliantly trolled the British royal family for April Fool’s Day

The Guardian got me. The British paper pulled an April Fool’s Day prank and they got me. I really, really thought their “exclusive” royal report was for real, and I was even in the midst of writing it up before it occurred to me that this was an April Fool’s Day prank. You can read their hilariously trolling piece here. The gist? For more than a month, the British papers have been going HAM on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. For the most part, the royal stories have been a sideshow to the larger political conversation in the UK, which is about “Brexit.” Brexit = the British exit from the European Union. The vote isn’t until June, and it’s one of the big political stories in Britain. So… the Guardian suggested that there was a conspiratorial connection between the political Brexit story and the gossip stories about “Work-Shy Will” and the “Duchess of Do-Little.” According to the Guardian’s prank, the royals believe there’s a connection. I should note that they’re actually basing this in reality: one of turning points for William was his vague speech back in February which many interpreted as “William speaks out against Brexit.” There were also stories last month in which real “sources” claimed the Queen is pro-Brexit. So, the Guardian slyly claims that the royal family thinks there’s a conspiracy afoot, and they plan on saying something about it. The royal family is seriously considering making a dramatic intervention in the referendum debate with an announcement that it supports Britain remaining inside the European Union. That the royals are prepared to risk provoking a potential constitutional crisis shows just how deep their anger is at parts of the British press and senior politicians. According to a senior source close to official figures, there was particular resentment at the Sun’s newspaper’s depiction of the Queen as a Brexit supporter. But the anger runs through the generations at Buckingham Palace: there was fury at the claims about “workshy” Prince William, a campaign mounted by two papers with an anti-EU stance, the Daily Mail and the Sun. And there was a feeling last week that rock bottom had been hit with a story in the Mail that Kate was now posher than the other royals. Another well-connected source explained that the royals now see a tightening conspiracy between the pro-exit papers, notably the Sun, Telegraph and Mail, and certain politicians. “The leader of Vote Leave is Michael Gove – that awful little leaker who put it about that the Queen wanted out. They can’t stand him. And as for Boris, the other main outer – he’s a cycling maniac from Islington. All he has done for the royal family is make it difficult to get around London in a decent-sized Daimler. And the third of the trio – Farage – what another awful little man.” Part of the reason for stepping into the debate in such an unprecedented way is huge disappointment in the prime minister, David Cameron. “The feeling is that we can’t leave it to him. Look what happened at the last referendum we had, on Scotland. We nearly lost Balmoral and the shoots. Nicola Sturgeon could be sat in that castle now – we know she had her eye on it – it was a damn close-run thing.” Royal circles found particularly offensive Cameron’s portrayal of the Queen as having “purred down the line” when he telephoned her to tell her Scotland had voted against independence. “The cheek of the man. There was real fury about that comment. And the irony of it – coming from a fat cat,” said a source. [From The Guardian] The whole piece is rich with irony, and they claim that the Palace is going to send Prince Philip out on his 95th birthday in June, possibly to tell Ant & Dec that Britain should stay in the EU. So… yeah, I’m dumb. I honestly thought this was real for a solid hour this morning. While my glee soured to disappointment with the realization that it was a prank, I still have to tip my hat to the Guardian. This is a brilliantly written piece of satire. Well done! Bernie Sanders calls George Clooney’s ritzy Clinton fundraisers ‘obscene’

George Clooney spoke about his support for Hillary Clinton several months ago, when he was promoting Hail Caesar. Clooney has always been a big Hollywood Democrat, and he supported John Kerry and Barack Obama in past presidential election cycles. Clooney has made no secret of his support for Clinton this time around, but he also hasn’t said anything negative about Bernie Sanders. The only person Clooney has criticized is Donald Trump. Anyway, George and Amal Clooney are cohosting two major California fundraisers for Clinton’s campaign and the DNC. The fundraiser tickets cost $33,400, and the Clooneys have co-hosts like Jeffrey Katzenberg, Steven Spielberg and more. This usually happens, by the way – the Hollywood Democrats and Silicon Valley Democrats will throw several big (and big-money) fundraisers in LA and San Francisco every presidential election cycle. But Hillary Clinton’s competition, Bernie Sanders, doesn’t like it. He thinks the Clooneys represent “big money people.” “It is obscene that Secretary Clinton keeps going to big-money people to fund her campaign,” Bernie Sanders said in an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday. Clinton is asking donors for $353,400 for two seats at the head table with herself, Clooney and his wife, Amal, at the April 15 event in San Francisco. The next night, the Clooneys will host a $33,400 per person fundraiser for Clinton at the couple’s Los Angeles home. “I have a lot of respect for George Clooney. He’s a great actor. I like him,” Sanders said. “But this is the problem with American politics … Big money is dominating our political system. And [my supporters and I] are trying to move as far away from that as we can.” Sanders, whose campaign has been largely funded by small donations, says his events usually cost “$15 or $50” to get into. “So it’s not a criticism of Clooney,” he said. “It’s a criticism of a corrupt campaign finance system, where big money interests — and it’s not Clooney, it’s the people coming to this event — have undue influence on the political process.” Throughout the Democratic primary, the self-described democratic socialist has attacked Clinton’s ties to Wall Street. He did so again Sunday. “It’s not only this Clooney event,” Sanders said. “It is the fact she has now raised well over $15 million from Wall Street for her super-PAC, and millions more from the fossil fuel industry, and from the drug companies.” Clinton’s Clooney swing comes less than two months before the crucial Democratic primary on June 7 in California, where 475 delegates are at stake. Meanwhile I voted for Clinton in the Virginia primary, and I did so because I honestly think Clinton is a better Democratic candidate for office. I understand Sanders’ point about getting the “big money” out of politics, and I agree with it as a moral and ethical stance. But in practice, I find it difficult to understand why Clinton (or any Democratic candidate) should be held to a different standard than the GOP candidates. Plus, I just have a fundamental disagreement with calling George Clooney a “big money” donor who will use his fundraising skills to push some agenda with Hillary Clinton. If you want to talk about the hedge fund people pushing candidates for tax cuts for billionaires, sure, let’s talk about that.
