Move over, America.
You now need to share your birthday with the offspring of one of our favorite famous couples. Sort of.
Indeed, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski just welcomed their second child into the world!
She doesn’t have the same birthday as the United States, but the world has now been made known about her existence on July Fourth.
That’s kind of the same thing.
“What better way to celebrate the 4th… than to announce our 4th family member!!!” Krasinski Tweeted this morning, adding:
“2 weeks ago we met our beautiful daughter Violet #Happy4th.”
The Girl on the Train star and The Office alum are already parents to a girl named Hazel.
It’s too early to tell how little Hazel is adjusting to life as a big sister, but this is what Blunt told E! News about the prospect back in April:
“She’s sort of coming around to it.
“She sort of dismissed the idea initially and she just responded with, ‘Nope.’ ‘Nope,’ flat out! We’ve bought her every single ‘I’m a big sister’ book that’s out there and she’s a bookworm, so she’s coming around.”
Blunt and Krasinski got married in 2010.
A rep for the stars confirmed that the latter was expecting baby number-two in January; about a month later, Blunt debuted her baby bump at the 2016 Academy Awards.
“The first pregnancy is the most self-indulgent thing in the world because you get massages and prenatal yoga and hypnotherapy CDs,” Blunt told C Magazine this spring.
“During this one I forget that I’m even pregnant. I’m hoisting my 2-year-old around!” she explained.
We send our very best wishes to two stars who appear to be as normal as any couple in Hollywood.
Welcome to the world, Violet!
John Legend is quickly earning our vote for husband of the year.
Not only does he gush about Chrissy Teigen on the regular, he’s now instructing the momshaming brigade to fire their criticism at him, not just his wife.
Last month, Teigen was attacked by the mommy mafia when she went out to dinner with her husband about a week after giving birth.
“She’s hitting the streets already????” wrote one jerk on Twitter. “Damn these so called celebrities want to show off so bad after giving birth.”
“Spend bonding time with your baby and not let the nanny or babysitter raise them!”
Naturally, Teigen hit back, but Legend thinks it’s unfair that she had to take all the heat.
These days, moms and dads equally share the responsibility of child-rearing, yet Teigen received all of the criticism for the unforgivable crime of leaving daughter Luna with a sitter for a couple hours.
The “All of Me” singer took to Twitter to point out the double standard and ponder why all the ire is directed toward the mom.
“Funny there’s no dad-shaming,” he tweeted.
“When both of us go out to dinner, shame both of us so Chrissy doesn’t have to take it all. We’ll split it.”
I’m actually getting a little weepy here.
This man just gets it. Literally and figuratively.
On Mother’s Day, Legend shared a photo of his wife and daughter and included this tribute:
“To my wonderful wife, @chrissyteigen. Luna and I are so lucky to have you in our lives. If our daughter can be even half as awesome as you, I will be so happy and proud. Happy 1st Mother’s Day!”
Methinks Chrissy and Luna are pretty lucky, too.
Here are some photos of Kim Kardashian out and about on Friday in LA. This feels like the first time we’ve seen her in months without a long, butt-covering jacket or coat. That’s probably because she’s now lost so much of the pregnancy weight that she’s not afraid of photographers getting a few butt shots. While I respect her choice to not give the paps butt shots when she’s uncomfortable with her body, she’s got to know that she’s just driving up the price, right? Anyway, as Kim told us last week, she’s lost 42 pounds of the 70-pound weight loss goal she set for herself post-pregnancy. I think she looks good, as-is. Meaning, she looks comfortable at this weight and this is pretty much how she looked when she got pregnant with Saint West. But she still wants to lose more weight, and her nutritionist spoke to Glamour about Kim’s diet:
Kim’s nutritionist, Colette Heimowitz, VP of nutrition and education at Atkins Nutritionals, chatted up Redbook and spilled. Kim, who’s losing about two pounds a week, is sticking to 1,800 calories a day—just right for a breastfeeding mama—says Heimowitz, and she chooses those calories carefully: Every meal includes protein, which she pairs with high-fiber foods (we love barley!) and healthy fats (olive oil, avocados). What she’s not eating: “Sugar, sweets, cakes, crackers, white flour, white rice.”
One thing she’s not giving up? Cheese—just a little bit. Heimowitz told Redbook that Kim’s daily diet breaks down to: “four to six ounces of protein, four ounces of cheese, eight to 10 servings of veggies, and two tablespoons of added fat.” (“Added” fat doesn’t include the fat that’s already in the protein and cheese.) “The secret is [to] pick high-fiber carbohydrates that slow the release of sugar into the bloodstream,” Heimowitz told the mag. “[So] instead of white rice you have a little brown rice. Instead of a white potato you could have a yam. And [when you want] dessert, you can make one with Splenda instead of sugar.”
Atkins diets are always high in protein, as I think everyone knows by now, so it’s not a surprise that Kim includes protein in every meal. I feel like this cheese-specific diet was tailored for her though, which one would expect if one has an on-call nutritionist. Personally, I would rather give up cheese (gladly) for a baked potato every now and then. Besides that, I don’t really believe Kim has given up sugar, sweets, cakes, crackers, white flour and white rice. I think that’s what her nutritionist has told her to give up and Kim sneaks some cracked or a cupcake every so often. Like at a baby shower she hosted for Chrissy Teigen? Apparently, the baby shower food involved McDonalds and nachos.

Chrissy Teigen covers Self Magazine. We just saw photos from her royal-themed baby shower, which some of you thought was gauche and others found sweet. Chrissy’s photoshoot theme for Self was motocross, which was clever. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a motocross theme for a women’s magazine, fitness or otherwise, apart from the occasional motorcycle as prop. They seem to have done the shoot when she was early in her pregnancy and hadn’t popped yet, or they Photoshopped her, it’s likely a bit of both. In the piece they say that Chrissy won’t discuss her due date as she’s trying to throw off the paparazzi. (Which is bizarre to me as she seems to enjoy them, but I get that she wants to protect her newborn.) They also talk about her cookbook and cooking blog, her TV hosting gigs, how busy she is and how she seems to get in a lot of twitter fights. I know Chrissy isn’t everyone’s favorite celebrity, she grates a little, but she does know how to hustle I’ll give her that. Plus she and John Legend are genuinely in love and coupled up, you can tell.
On her approach to social media
If I’m passionate about something, I’ll say it and deal with the consequences later.
On her difficulty conceiving and going through IVF
The big question was why this wasn’t working for us when I was young and he was healthy. I thought, People get pregnant by accident all the time! How does this happen? Emotionally, it could be really hard.
One of the things that saved us is that we never did that real fertility thing, where you’re looking at the ovulation clock and saying, ‘Honey, get home; we have to do it right now.’ John would say, ‘Let’s never be that couple that has to schedule sex, where we put it on the calendar and say, OK, this is our night.’ So before we did IVF, even if we went a few days or a week, our feeling was, it’s cool, who cares?
On being photographed at the beach when she was going through IVF
I looked horrible, totally not myself. Then to not be able to say what it was, it sucked.
On being both a foodie and a model
It always bothered me when someone would interview a model and say, ‘What do you do to stay in shape?’ and she would say, ‘I love to eat pizza; I love to indulge.’ I’ve always been the first one to say, ‘Bulls—! No you don’t.’ So I’ve been hyperaware of that, and I waited years to write a cookbook because I wanted people to know I really do love food.” [She eats what she wants but stays active] I like having that balance.
She’s worried about their new arrival but John is laid back
He’s been wonderful. He has a big family with nieces and nephews, and he actually knows more than I do about kids. It’s going to be very sexy to see this new side of him… I’ve truly never been alone with a kid. I don’t think I’ve changed a diaper! I’m like, how many times a day do they go?… I’m a worrier, and he’s very laid-back. I am the crazier one in the relationship, and he’s more relaxed, for sure.
She wants four kids, one after the other
I think I’ll probably be pregnant all through my 30s,. I’ve always pictured everyone around the table for the holidays and together once a week. It’ll be heartbreaking if it doesn’t end up happening, but hopefully it will. We’ve got some embryos on hold. Four [kids] is good, I think. And then, maybe a dog after.
