Cindy Crawford: ‘I don’t need people pointing out I don’t look 20’

Cindy-Crawford-age-3 - Cindy Crawford: 'I don't need people pointing out I don't look 20'

On being criticized on Instagram for not looking like she did at age 20:

I don’t need everyone on Instagram pointing out that I don’t look the same way I did when I was 20. I know that. Sometimes when you’re in the public eye, it can be hard, and that’s where you kind of have to work on yourself. No matter what I do, I’m not going to look 20 or 30. I just want to look great for 50. I exercise, eat healthy and take really good care of my skin. There’s pressure on women to do the undoable, which is not age. But it’s about looking great for however old you are, regardless of what that number is.

Last year, Cindy raised a few eyebrows when she was quoted saying:

I always tease my daughter (14) – who everyone agrees, is a mini-me – and say ‘You have my old hair – I want it back!’ or, ‘You have my old legs – I want them back.’

Kate Moss & her 13-year-old daughter Lila Grace cover Vogue Italia: sweet?

kate vgue italy

Perhaps the “in” thing for magazines this year is mother-daughter covers? Cindy Crawford and her 14-year-old daughter Kaia covered Vogue Paris several months back, and many people loved and praised the image. And now this – Kate Moss and her 13-year-old daughter Lila Grace cover the new issue of Vogue Italia. Thoughts? I think Lila will look more like her mom as she gets into her mid-to-late teens. Right now, she’s just an interesting blend of both of her parents (her dad is Jefferson Hack).

When Cindy and Kaia covered Vogue Paris in March, I sort of assumed that Cindy was trying to gently open some doors for her daughter, who already has representation at a modeling agency. Like, the deal between Kaia and Cindy is that Kaia can model but only if Cindy gets to be hands-on about her career. I wonder about Lila and Kate’s dynamic, whether Lila is even interested in modeling like her famous mum, or if Lila is just a normal kid, untouched by her mother’s career. Jefferson Hack did provide some clues in a recent interview, saying:

“I spend a lot of time with Lila Grace. She’s 13 and my relationship with her and her mum, Kate, is the thing I’m most proud of. That is life with a capital L. Everything else is window dressing. I have Lila at least one night in the week and every other weekend. We use FaceTime most evenings. She thinks me and her mum are deeply uncool. I don’t think her music tastes are cool – Capital radio and Justin Bieber. She keeps me real. I’m not on Snapchat. It’s wrong when parents act like their kids. I don’t buy into the ‘my mum’s my best friend’ ethos. Kate’s a great mum and they have a fantastic relationship.”

Coachella: Taylor Swift went ultra-blonde, Miranda Kerr brought her billionaire

Coachella snuck up on me. Some years, I’m prepared for the wall-to-wall photos of millionaires pretending to be hippies. Some years, Coachella starts and I’m caught unawares. But every year, I’m mystified as to why the same people go every damn year. Weirdly, Taylor Swift is not one of those people. She dropped by Coachella on Day 1. Of course she had to post a photo of her newly ultra-bleached hair. So far, that’s the biggest news that’s come out of Coachella. So, enjoy these photos from the first weekend.

This year’s Coachella might be perfectly encapsulated by these photos of Miranda Kerr and Evan Spiegel. Miranda is one of the most famous models in the world, and Spiegel is the billionaire founder of Snapchat. But they too can “hang” with the cool kids at Coachella. Spiegel’s even hiding his face, for reasons, dude.

Paris Hilton, man. She’s there every year.

Kendall Jenner looks like hippie Barbie.

Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber. You might think, “Hey, why in the world are Rande & Cindy there? Are they conducting a global search for a new pair of couple-friends after George abandoned them?” While that was my first thought, I think Cindy and Rande were just trying to be the “cool parents” who took their kids to Coachella. There are photos of Kaia Gerber floating around, and I feel confident that Cindy was at least acting as the adult supervision.

Brooklyn Beckham is still getting a big “nope” from me. Maybe in a few years, he won’t annoy me so much.

On a scale of 1-10, how annoying do you find Alessandra Ambrosio? She’s an 8.5 to me.

Jared Leto, man. At least his hair looks okay here.

Zoe Kravitz and her boyfriend Twin Shadow – I’m actually surprised that they’re still together. I think they’ve been going out for a while now.

Kate Moss covers Vogue UK for the 37th time: enough already or fine?

moss2

It’s difficult to even describe, as an outsider to British culture and celebrity, what Kate Moss means to Great Britain. Like, she’s one of the most iconic British people in the world right now. She’s arguably the most famous British model of all time. She’s been well-known, beloved and gossiped about for more than two decades. There has barely been a month in 20 years when Kate isn’t somewhere, doing something or covering some magazine or walking some runway or part of some scandal or being discussed in some way. And throughout it all, she barely ever speaks in public. Finding a quote from Kate Moss is like finding the Holy Grail.

So, she covers the May issue of Vogue UK. Guess how many times she’s covered British Vogue? 37 TIMES. Seriously. That’s practically twice a year for 20 years. Kate got the cover this time to… like, pay homage to fifty years of the Rolling Stones. That’s what the Union Jack-flag photo is all about, it’s an homage to the famous photos of Mick Jagger draped in a Union Jack. Still, why not put Mick Jagger on the cover? No, they had to use Moss. Again. For the 37th time.

Meanwhile, did you hear that Kate is leaving her long-time modeling agency? She was discovered by Sarah Doukas of Storm Models when she was 14 and she’s been with Storm ever since. Kate is 42. So… nearly 30 years. And she’s done.

Kate Moss has left Storm Models, the agency to which she has been signed since she was first discovered by its founder Sarah Doukas in JFK airport aged 14, the company confirmed to us this morning.

“After a successful 28 year relationship, Kate is moving her business in house, and we will continue to maintain an active involvement in our on-going deals for her,” read a statement from the agency, which is responsible for the fashion careers of hundreds of major fashion models including Cindy Crawford, Jourdan Dunn, Liu Wen, Behati Prinsloo and, until recently, Cara Delevingne. The agency does, however, still have one Moss on its books in the form of Kate’s little sister, Lottie.

Moss – who has established herself as a shrewd businesswoman in recent years with many collaborations and additional ventures to her modelling – will, moving forward, manage the majority of her modelling commitments herself, collaborating with the agency on an ad-hoc basis. The move, however, is said to be amicable.

[From Vogue UK]

If this was anyone else, I might think that the model was pissed that she wasn’t getting consistent work in her 40s. But this is Kate Moss and she still works all the time. I’ve heard that she still has plenty of offers for advertising and magazine work and she can pick and choose what she does. So what’s this about? Her divorce? A new phase in her career? I have no idea.

Keeping It Real: Unretouched Picture of Cindy Crawford

B9uP_e7IEAAcx-i.jpg large

The details from Daily Mail:

ITV News anchor Charlene White tweeted an unretouched image of a lingerie-clad Cindy Crawford, which went viral on Friday.

Marie Claire confirmed the shot originated from the December 2013 issue of their Mexico/Latin America magazine, and wrote ‘it is real, it is honest, and it is gorgeous.’

Fans applauded the Photoshop-free picture of the supermodel – who was 47 then, and turns 49 next week – precisely for its realness.

George & Amal Clooney are vacationing in Cabo with Cindy Crawford & Rande

Another year, another holiday trip to Cabo San Lucas with Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber. I almost feel sorry for Amal Alamuddin-Clooney! She’s getting the same deal all of George Clooney’s girlfriends got. She has to spend time with Cindy, Rande and their kids during every single vacation! This is your life now, Amal. I bet Cindy is probably a bit happier to make conversation with Amal as opposed to the steady stream of waitresses, hostesses and wrestlers that came before.

I’m sorry these photos are such poor quality, but that’s usually the case with Cabo photos. I think the paparazzi must be very, very far away. You can see Amal and George sitting far apart at a picnic table with Cindy, Rande and their kids. Amal is the one in the acid-green beach cover-up. Her hair is looking… not great. Well, not blowout perfect, let’s say that. George seems aware of the cameras, and like he’s trying not to give them a good shot.

George and Amal were in LA for several weeks in the lead-up to his Cabo holiday. Apparently, she really can just take unlimited time off from work, I guess. My hope is that this Cabo holiday continues through the first week and a half of the new year, then George and Amal return to LA and attend the Golden Globes together. We’re not going to have any Brangelina on the Globes red carpet, so Amal and George need to BRING IT. And by “it” I mean hair tossing and jewelry and that hungry look Amal gets when she sees a bank of cameras. Maybe we’ll get a baby bump too, wouldn’t that be exciting?

I am a bit worried that Amal won’t even attend the Globes though – she’s signed on as one of lawyers representing Armenia at the European Court of Human Rights. She’s due in court on January 28. Surely she can attend the Globes AND prepare for the case?

PS… There’s a big sign for “Casamigos Tequila” in the background of these photos, plus the barrels are stamped ‘Casamigos’. This whole Amal thing is just an ad campaign for his tequila.

Kim Kardashian: I prayed my boobs would stop growing | kim kardashian

On struggling with accepting her curvy figure:

‘When I was 13 my father (Robert Kardashian) wrote me a letter. I was unhappy with my body- I developed really early.’ Every night I would sit in the bath and cry, I prayed my boobs would stop growing. He told me I had a body not many girls have, that later it would lead to attention from men, but that the most important thing was that I was a wonderful girl and I had to understand my self worth.’

‘I grew up when the body to have was the tall, slim, supermodel one, like Cindy Crawford’s. No one looked like me. It’s good to break the mould and recreate one. I’m an Armenian girl, I have shape, and it turned out people liked that. That makes me feel good about myself and about other women for being so supportive. I am a confident woman, but I didn’t just arrive confident – it has built over the years and that is a big part of who I am now.’

… says Kim in Elle.
