Mila Kunis: ‘I’m hoping that Wyatt will learn that the word ‘want’ is not necessary’

Mila Kunis is pregnant with her second child, having welcomed daughter Wyatt into the world back in 2014. Even when she was pregnant the first time, Mila often talked about how she didn’t want her children to grow up to be a—holes, meaning that she doesn’t want to raise “Hollywood kids” with access to anything and everything. She wants to raise polite children who get told “no” a lot, because that’s how she was raised. Personally, I think there’s a 50-50 shot at the kids being a—holes anyway, just because of genetics and those kids are half-Kutcher. I also think Mila Kunis might want to check her ‘tude sometimes because she’s come across as an a—hole a few times, and kids learn it from watching their parents. So as Mila was promoting her new film, Bad Moms, Mila talked more about her parenting method. Mila Kunis is determined to keep her children grounded. The Bad Moms star opened up about her fear of raising a child “who is going to be an a-hole” during an AOL Build session in New York City on Wednesday. “I don’t want to be the person who is responsible for putting that into the world,” the 32-year-old confessed. “My one thing that I’ve always said is I just want my children to have empathy in life. I want my kids to be good kids.” And just to be safe, the Ukrainian-born actress — who shares daughter Wyatt Isabelle Kutcher with husband Ashton Kutcher and is expecting their second child — already has a master plan to avoid raising self-entitled kids in Hollywood. “I figured I’m just going to lie. I feel like that is going to be my tactic. Until the kids are old enough to like search on the Internet, which I feel like I can buy myself a couple of years, I’m just going to go, ‘Mommy and daddy are poor,’” she revealed. “They’re just going to have to suck it up because too bad that’s how I grew up, except we were poor, but it worked!” Mila, who plays the fed up mom in the upcoming movie, added, “My kid will never know what it’s like to not have fresh fruit. My kid will never know what it’s like to not have electricity… I learned at a very early age to not say the word ‘want.’ That was out of my vocabulary. It just didn’t exist, and so I’m hoping that Wyatt one day will learn that the word ‘want’ is not necessary.” [From Hello] Thoughts? It reminds me that she really was brought up with a refugee-mentality. It also reminds me a little bit of Malcolm Gladwell’s books, where he tends to argue that the kids brought up with every advantage in life are often the biggest losers. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Mila has been reading David and Goliath or Outliers, actually. Long-term, of course “telling the kids that we’re poor” won’t last, but hopefully she’ll be able to teach them that “wanting” something is different than needing something. Wanting something is also different than deserving something or earning something. Photos courtesy of Fame/Flynet and WENN.

Christopher Walken’s cats are his kids: ‘I think a lot of people are like that’

We rarely cover Christopher Walken, although the man is a national treasure. He’s just not controversial at all – he seems like a nice guy, everyone loves him, he loves to dance, and as we can see from this Parade cover, he loves cats. He’s promoting a family film called Nine Lives, where he plays a magical pet shop owner. Kevin Spacey and Jennifer Garner are in the movie too. Weird. Anyway, this whole interview is charming, mostly because he talks about CATS! You can read the full Parade piece here, and here are some highlights: On being a teenage lion tamer: [Sheba, his lioness in a one-ring circus on upstate New York] “was very sweet. She’d walk around and bump up against you leg, just like a nice old cat. I’d wave my whip and she would sit up on her back legs and roll over and do stuff. When we weren’t performing, I used to hang out with her and pet her.” But now he’s against zoos & circuses: “As I get older, I’m very much against zoos and, frankly, animals in captivity. Especially big, wild animals. I wish there wasn’t any such thing as ‘animal acts.’ I wish there wasn’t any such thing as zoos.” His kitty, The Cat: Walken adopted his own feral black-and-white “tuxedo cat” after she showed up on his porch one day—with her babies. “Now I have this basically wild cat that likes to be outside, but she’s friendly. When it gets cold, she comes in.” He calls her simply “the Cat.” And he and Georgianne, who have no children, have always considered their cats as their kids. “I think a lot of people are like that with their pets.” He’s the son of a German immigrant & a Scottish immigrant: “I had a wonderful childhood. Everything: food, house. But my parents didn’t. My parents really did have a hard time where they came from, and they came here and they made this great life. That’s what America is, always and still. I believe people should be able to go and make their lives as they wish. America certainly has always been that for a lot of people. As a kid, I grew up with all sorts of people, different kinds of people. To me, that’s the way it ought to be. Of course, we live in a time of dangerous things. There’s got to be a way around that without making it difficult for everybody.” On his longtime love of cats: “My cats are extremely well taken care of. Frankly, if there’s such a thing as reincarnation, it would be wonderful to come back as my cat. I’m not sure you could do better than that.” [From Parade] But what happened to The Cat’s kittens? Did the Walkens give the kittens away? Or did he bring the kittens inside and now The Cat is the only one who prefers being outside? So many questions. I actually love that he calls his cat The Cat. I did that with my dog too – my (late) puppy had a real name, but I mostly just called him “Puppy” or “Black Dog.” I’m thinking about getting another animal – from a shelter – and I do think I’ll get a cat this time. Kim Kardashian & Kanye West cover Harper’s Bazaar’s September issue

Ah, it’s that time of year when we get to see the September Issue covers. It seems like they start coming in earlier and earlier. Harper’s Bazaar devoted their September issue to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. The photoshoot is decent – there are a few random shots, but I love the close-up of Kim and Kanye’s faces. You can see the full editorial and interview here. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the interview. Kanye often comes across as eccentric and mercurial (if not flat-out crazy) in interviews, but doing a joint interview with Kim grounds him. And while neither of them is going to win a genius grant any time soon, I enjoyed this piece and I think people often miss the fact that Kanye has a very dark, sardonic sense of humor. Some highlights: Kim and Kanye on each other’s favorite body parts: KW: Is the face a body part? My favorite body part of Kim’s: heart. KKW: Awww, now I have to say the same. But of my own, I like my upper stomach. I just seem to always have abs. When I’m not really pregnant, I have a great two-pack. And of Kanye’s? I have to say his heart. And I’ve always loved his legs. Favorite Taylor Swift song? KW: For me? I don’t have one. KKW: I was such a fan of hers. Historical figure you identify with? KKW: This one is hard. KW: Us? Muhammad Ali, Marilyn Monroe—all day. Next question. Favorite selfie pose? KKW: I love a selfie in the mirror. KW: I love her nude selfies. Like, I love the ones from the side, the back ones, and the front. I just love seeing her naked; I love nudity. And I love beautiful shapes. I feel like it’s almost a Renaissance thing, a painting, a modern version of a painting. I think it’s important for Kim to have her figure. To not show it would be like Adele not singing. Who’s more vain? KKW: I mean, me. KW: Yeah, I think she has vanity. And with me, I don’t give a f–k, bro; it is what it is. I’m the best—now what? I don’t know if that’s a vain statement. I don’t particularly like photos of myself, though. What makes you both laugh? KKW: Kanye just says the funniest analogies that are so random. I should start keeping a book—in 20 years, I’ll have a big book of analogies. They always make me laugh. KW: Kim’s just a funny person in general. KKW: But I don’t get credit for being funny; it’s, like, not a thing. KW: I think my sense of humor is really dark and super twisted and stuff like that. It’s like, “Is this a funny joke for real? Or am I just rich?” See? That was funny. How would you like to be remembered? KKW: I’d like to be remembered as someone who was smart in business, works hard, and can be sexy and a mom. A powerful but still sexy, nonconforming woman. And I would hope that Kanye would be remembered for being smart and sticking to what he believes. KW: Determined. I would say my determination is way higher than my smartness. KKW: A lot of people have strong beliefs, but they don’t have the confidence to really stick to them. I really respect Kanye for that. Kanye isn’t an overthinker: “The one thing I don’t have an insecurity about is public perception. I’m not going to conform to it, you know? Here’s something that’s contrary to popular belief: I actually don’t like thinking. I think people think I like to think a lot. And I don’t. I do not like to think at all…. I think about things to put them in a place where I don’t have to think about them anymore. Say if I had a child with a really bad mom, I would have to think more than if I had a child with a good mom. I’m just doing my homework early. I told my trainer today, I’m a mix of a 14-year-old high schooler and a 60-year-old guy. It can never fall into the 30s or the 40s. It has to be 100 percent 60 or 100 percent 14, no in between.” [From Harper’s Bazaar] I do think this is funny: “Is this a funny joke for real? Or am I just rich?” Kanye and Kim also openly talk about his debt and how it felt good for him to talk about it openly, but it sounds like he doesn’t have debt issues anymore, probably because his collaboration with Adidas is going really well. What else? I don’t know, I just think they’re funny and they complement each other really well. There were several really sweet moments between them, like Kim saying that she lies to people all the time about how much Kanye loves to sleep, because he’s like a cat, apparently, and he falls asleep anywhere and everywhere. Ha! Anyway, start the flame war. I like Kimye. Photos courtesy of Harper’s Bazaar.

Kim Kardashian in vintage satin Galliano in Las Vegas: righteous or awful?

Here are some photos of Kim Kardashian in Vegas on Friday night. She attended/hosted a party at Hakkasan at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino. Kim is one of the most expensive “gets” for Vegas nightclubs. If they want to go cheap, they get Scott Disick, you know? I suspect that Kim gets mid-six figures plus crazy accommodations per Vegas appearance. Kim wore vintage Galliano to the event, which… the seams seem off? And those shoes were not the best choice. But Kim looked small, and she was definitely showing off her achievement of her “goal weight,” which was to lose 70 pounds post-pregnancy. I think that puts her in the 120-130 lb range, according to Kim. It’s always so difficult to assess Kim’s weight because she’s so curvy with those boobs and that butt, but Kim really is very short and compact. Post-receipts, Kim has returned to business as usual. It’s an interesting move, isn’t it? She’s chosen not to harp on and on about it. She’s chosen not to emphasize, on social media or in interviews, her exposure and takedown of Taylor Swift. Kim fundamentally changed the gossip landscape and she isn’t even really taking a victory lap. I suspect that there will be discussions in future interviews, and I suspect that Kim is waiting patiently to see what Taylor does next. We’ll see. Meanwhile, Kim has been talking to the press, just not about Tay-Tay. She’s been talking about her weight, and she’s been talking about her babies. Kim Kardashian says her and Kanye West’s second child, son Saint West, is a “Daddy’s boy.” In fact, the baby told her so himself, so to speak. “He said Dada today, three times!” Kim told E! News exclusively at the MGM Grand nightclub Hakkasan in Las Vegas Friday night. “And I was like, ‘Wait what?’ Kanye was so excited, he was like, ‘I told him to say that.’ And I was like, just I really wanted him to say ‘Mama’ first.” And the couple’s first and eldest child, daughter North West, is the opposite of her brother. “I have to go back and see what North said first but I think he’s, like, you know, a Daddy’s boy and North is a Mama’s girl, so we each have one,” Kim told E! News. [From E! News] I always suspected North was a daddy’s girl, actually. North seems completely attached to both parents, but maybe she’s just more like her mom. As for Saint saying “Dada” – the baby is only seven months old! Is he really saying “Dada” or is he just making sounds? I’m also including some photos of Kim earlier on the day on Friday, in West Hollywood. People are freaking out about her fur-strap sandals. Photos courtesy of Fame/Flynet.

Benji Madden: Cameron Diaz is ‘a modern day feminist’ who shares positivity

Embed from Getty Images Benji Madden has a new extensive interview in Newsweek for the 20th anniversary of his band, Good Charlotte (with his twin brother, Joel). Good Charlotte returned from a multi-year hiatus to release a new album last week. I’m not too familiar with Benji and apart from the fact that he seems to be genuinely in love with and supportive of his wife, Cameron Diaz, I don’t have a strong opinion about him. A quick glance at our archives reminds me that he’s dated several famous women including Paris Hilton and Holly Madison and apart from hearing about his other occasional hookups, I haven’t heard a bad word about him in the 10 years I’ve run this site. No scandals, no paparazzi beat-downs, no DUIs. That’s really saying something. So he seems like a serial monogamist and a standup guy. He’s also very supportive of Cameron, and they’ve each gushed about each other on their social media and to the press. That’s all background to this interview, which just impressed me with how wise and thoughtful he sounds. I mean I don’t agree with him about Cameron Diaz, but he comes across extremely well. On how the music industry can be hard on artists My brother and I feel blessed to have survived and still have loving, connected relationships with each other, with our wives, with our family. We feel like: “Hey, there are a lot of artists who might be able to use our experiences.” We’ve been able to withstand a lot of things in the industry because we had each other. We feel protective of other artists. This is not a business that is set up in favor of artists. It’s important for artists to value themselves—whatever that means. Everyone’s going to take that in a different way. If you don’t value yourself, you will be bought and sold. On the public’s obsession with celebrity I think it’s a very unhealthy trend that will eventually be broken when people realize how hollow it is for our minds, it’s very cancerous…it’s like fast food. Fast food companies are trending down, lots of places are going out of business. People figured out: “This is killing us, it’s f-king terrible.” The celebrity obsession is doing the same thing for our minds—it’s very hollow and I think that trend is going to break soon enough. On how Cameron uses her platform for good I’m extremely proud of what she uses her platform for. She just released The Longevity Book, and before that she had The Body Book [a lifestyle guide to diet and health], and she spent thousands of dollars doing all the research, to get information to share with women who don’t necessarily have the resources to get that information. She’s a modern day feminist—she wants to change the conversation that’s being had about women and ageing. With The Body Book, she wanted to share all this information she has gathered over the years with women so they can live happy, pain-free lives. I’m proud of her because of what a light she is in a world where it would be so much easier to use that stage to promote products. But she’s using that platform she has to share positivity. It’s been one of the most inspirational things in my life watching a woman be so courageous…she’s got so much integrity. I’m a lucky guy that I get to experience that. [From Newsweek] He talks a lot about the industry and about how music gets made and artists are managed, and I didn’t excerpt that as it’s not relevant but it’s worth a read. Benji wants to empower young artists to do it on their own and not get chewed up by the industry, which can be brutal. Getting back to Benji’s thoughts on Cameron, she tried. I covered a lot of the press she did for The Longevity Book and she made some misinformed statements about women and aging, but she tried and she meant well. She’s not an authority on health or aging but she used her platform to try to be. It’s true that she’s not just shilling products, and that’s something. Also, of course I disagree with Benji’s opinion that celebrity obsession is terrible for us. Using his same fast food analogy, you can go to McDonalds and get something to eat once in a while, you just balance your calories and get your nutrients from other meals. Just because you like to follow celebrity news doesn’t mean you’re not informed about more serious events or that you don’t care. Sometimes we need a diversion. Here’s a video that Cameron shared of Benji. She left this gushing caption about how proud she is of him, which seems to be mutual. One of my favorite things about being married, is how much pride I take in my husband @benjaminmadden… He makes me proud everyday.. One day it might be how generous and giving, another how gentle and thoughtful. Or when he is fiercely protective of the people he loves and cares about… And everyday single day I am so incredibly proud of his integrity as a human being.. But TODAY what I'm most proud of is his talent… his gift…. Today his band @goodcharlotteband released their first album in 6 years #YouthAuthority .. What makes me even more proud is that he has released it on his own independent label MDDN… And it is so damn GOOOOOOOOD… Its so full of love and hope and truth… about forging and holding onto love… I wish that everyone could write music to express their pain.. their fears… their hopes and dreams. Baby you amaze me… CONGRATS!! @goodcharloteband @mddnco #youthauthority #proud http://apple.co/YouthAuthority A video posted by Cameron Diaz (@camerondiaz) on Jul 15, 2016 at 12:06pm PDT Embed from Getty Images Embed from Getty Images

Tara Reid & Jenny McCarthy got into a messy fight on Jenny’s SiriusXM show

As I was looking through our recent photos of Jenny McCarthy, I had a sudden realization: with all of her plastic surgery, botox and fillers, she’s morphing into some weird Charlize Theron clone. It’s really odd. I bring up Jenny’s “work” because it came up completely organically in the middle of Jenny’s SiriusXM radio show. Jenny’s guest on Friday was Tara Reid, of Sharknado and Taradise “fame.” Personally, I think Jenny and Tara are pretty evenly matched as far as likeability and relevance, so I’m not choosing sides on this one. What happened during the interview was a thing of f—king beauty though. I think Jenny really was trying to be nice… at first. Then Jenny realized the whole thing was going sideways, and decided to be a bitch. And Tara Reid got some really good jabs in too. People Mag did the transcript, but I’m including the audio at the end of the post. As I listened to it… yes, I do think Jenny was trying to be a real interviewer and Tara was bitchy first. But the whole exchange… my God. Here you go: The interview began with McCarthy, 43, complementing Reid on her latest reality show appearance in Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars. “I f—ing love you on that show, but are you glad you did it?” the host asked. “It’s not worth the time to talk about,” Reid replied. “There’s confusing things about it. We are not talking about it.” McCarthy then made a remark about how she just loved the show “so much,” to which Reid continued to say, “Babe, I asked you, please let’s not talk about this show. We’re all here about Sharknado.” The host then shifted to the film and asked Reid if she had to get into peak physical shape for it. “It’s not like you really need to get into shape,” she replied. “It’s Sharknado. They’re fake sharks.” McCarthy then brought up the topic of Reid’s past surgeries and asked if she was still going under the knife. “No, I haven’t had any surgery for awhile, Jenny,” she replied before going silent on the microphone and talking to someone out of earshot. “You look great now. So, you’re good and done, not moving forward with plastic surgery?” McCarthy continued to ask. “I think I’ve made that clear about 100 times,” Reid snapped back. “Maybe you only read the bad things, but I’ve made that really clear for so many years. Read what you want to read… It was really nice talking to you and really good luck with your show.” “Good luck to you, too, and I’m so excited about Sharknado and I hope you stay married,” McCarthy calmly quipped back. “I hope your knees get a little wobblier than they already are.” “I hope you stay married too. I’m sure he’s a nice guy,” Reid responded. “I hope your tits get even nicer, because they’re amazing. The same guy who did mine, right? I’ll always use your advice. You’re the best. Bye.” “Love you, Tara. Good luck with Sharknado 18,” McCarthy replied. [From people] Tara Reid cops quite an attitude for someone currently promoting Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens (that’s seriously the name of it) and Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars. And Jenny cops quite an attitude about Tara’s plastic surgery considering Jenny is trying to remake herself into Anti-Vaxx Barbie. No one is the winner here, but it’s always fun when two terrible people get into a bitchy war of words. Bless them. Photos courtesy of WENN.

Derek Jeter, 42, married model Hannah Davis, 26, in St. Helena, California

Do people genuinely care about Derek Jeter? Let me ask that another way: besides Yankees fans, do people care about Jeter? Well, in case you care, Jeter is married! The 42-year-old retired Yankee married 26-year-old swimsuit model Hannah Davis this weekend. Yes, I’m still rolling my eyes at the age difference too. Jeter was actually one of New York’s most famous bachelors, and over the years, he romanced everyone from Mariah Carey to Jessica Biel (remember that?) to Minka Kelly. Hannah and Derek had gotten engaged last fall after dating for a few years. Surprisingly, the wedding didn’t take place in New York. Or the Hamptons. It took place in St. Helena, California, at a Napa Valley resort. Hannah wore a custom-made Vera Wang gown and from what I’ve seen, the Daily Mail has the best pics – you can see them here. The gown is sleeveless, with a high lace neck. Not my style, but she looked lovely. Wedding guests included Yankees Jorge Posada, Andruw Jones and Tino Martinez, as well as Jeter’s family and some of Hannah’s modeling buddies. There were less than 100 guests and Hannah had said in past interviews that she was trying to keep the wedding pretty simple. What else? In all of the media coverage of the wedding, people are noting that Hannah bought an Italian Mastiff puppy for Jeter for Christmas. The puppy’s name is Kane. Oh, and all of this time I thought Hannah was from somewhere like Pennsylvania, but she was born and raised in the US Virgin Islands. Sources also tell Page Six that Jeter is “definitely ready to be a dad” and that he and Hannah plan on starting their family quickly. Honeymoon baby?
