Is Kim Kardashian actively trying to corrupt young Iranian women? Maybe.

Kim Kardashian has already arrived in Cannes. She’s been posting photos, and my guess is that she’ll be around for the big amfAR gala in Cannes on Thursday night. She’s also there to shill diamonds, judging from this exclusive interview she did with People Magazine – go here to read. She barely says anything about her family, but she makes sure to talk about the de Grisogono jewelry. So, basically, People published a little advertisement for de Grisogono and tried to pass it off as gossip. Which is just the kind of thing I would expect from an international corrupter of young people and women. Did you know that Iranian bureaucrats have a major hate-on for all things Kim K.? They think that she’s some sort of social-media Manchurian Candidate, only cat-faced and focused on getting people to look at her naked selfies. Iranian officials are questioning Kim Kardashian West’s Instagram popularity. The Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corp – an organization tasked with protecting the country’s Islamic system and preventing foreign interference – has reportedly accused Kardashian West, 35, of working with Instagram as part of a complicated ploy to corrupt the Islamic republic’s lifestyle, targeting “young people and women” with provocative photos depicting a lifestyle at odds with Islam. According to a report from Iran Wire, a news website run by a group of Iranian journalists, the Organized Cyberspace Crimes Unit of the Revolutionary Guards targeted Kardashian West during an Iranian news program Sunday night. “Ms. Kim Kardashian is a popular fashion model so Instagram’s CEO tells her, ‘Make this native,’ ” a spokesman for the unit, Mostafa Alizadeh, reportedly said. “There is no doubt that financial support is involved as well. We are taking this very seriously.” While talking to PEOPLE in Cannes, Kardashian said the accusations were news to her, as well: “What? For who?” she said of the claims. “I just landed and came here [from the airport]. I have not heard that one. Thanks for the heads-up.” According to the report, Alizadeh claimed the aim of Instagram’s CEO Kevin Systrom is to make fashion modeling native to Iran and that Kardashian West is implementing his scheme for him. (Kardashian’s paternal grandparents immigrated to the United States from Armenia, which shares a border with Iran.) “They are targeting young people and women,” Alizadeh said, according to Iran Wire. “Foreigners are behind it because it is targeting families. These schemes originate from around the Persian Gulf and England. When you draw the operational graph, you will see that it is a foreign operation.” The actions and statements are part of the OCCU’s long-running effort to combat “modeling and vulgarity” and illicit Instagram and Facebook usage, cracking down on “secret supporters and operators of Instagram” allegedly attempting to subvert the “Islamic Iranian lifestyle,” reports Iran Wire. Several women in Iran have reportedly been arrested, and Iran Wire reports Javad Babaee, supervisor of the Prosecutor’s Office for Media Crimes, also appeared during the Iranian news program and announced they have already warned 170 individuals, 29 of whom are being targeted for prosecution. “Our aim is to teach them a lesson and make them wake up,” Babaee reportedly said. At least some of the targeted Instagram accounts remain online, including the pages of Elnaz Golrokh and Hamid Fadaei, though their owners have left Iran. [From People] It’s all fun and games until some poor woman gets arrested and thrown in an Iranian jail for posting a duck-lip selfie online. Personally, I love a good a conspiracy and I was sitting here, really thinking about the claim that Kim is some kind of half-government, half-corporate stooge/operative trying to convince disaffected Iranian youths to pursue lives of self-indulgent narcissism and superficiality. And when you really think about it, it honestly doesn’t sound that f—king crazy, right? The only problem with the theory of the scheme is that every time Kim posts a photo of how she’s traveled alone on a private jet to the South of France (see below), it makes me want to declare a class war. Prince William’s ‘Marie Antoinette-style utterances’ distance him from the public

It’s a big day for the Cambridges! Prince William and Duchess Kate will be hosting the Obamas at Kensington Palace this evening. Prince Harry will be there to save the dinner, because let’s be honest: the Obamas love Harry. This dinner was added to the Cambridges’ schedule shortly after Will and Kate returned from their “whirlwind” and poorly-received India-Bhutan tour, likely in the hopes of making Will and Kate look “busy” and “not workshy.” Because those headlines still exist, especially following William’s prickly interview with the BBC this week. The Daily Mail reported that William’s office specifically left the door open for journalist Nicholas Witchell to ask the “workshy” questions. A source said: “After recent criticism, William’s team took a calculated decision to promote his image. That’s why the ducking royal duties question was allowed. Before, it would have been off limits.” The problem, perhaps, is that if you’re going to open yourself up to that line of questioning, you better have better answers than “pity poor me, I want to spend time with my family!” One of the Guardian’s columnists was openly mocking William, calling him “Darth Workshy” and mocking his “three-hours a week” gig as a pilot. The Daily Mail’s Jan Moir also picked apart William’s interview in a piece called “Wills must work much harder to win our love.” Some highlights: William needed to check his privilege: “For, surely, life is much harder for those with no future? With uncertain prospects, zero-hour contacts, minimum wage jobs and unable to afford the security of a home of their own. There are millions of people who can only dream of having a role in life they could ‘develop into’. Any role at all would do.” William’s deflection about being a new father: “What loving, young father, in the whole of this country, would not love the opportunity to spend more time with their children? Commuting dads who spend hours each day on trains; dads doing double shifts; dads who never have the opportunity to put their children to bed or cook their breakfast pancakes; dads who have to make do with precious hours of family time snatched together at weekends. Giving endless quality time to the kids is a luxury beyond the means of most parents, who must work to support their children and family life. William might mean well, but Marie Antoinette-style utterances such as these only further distance him from the public.” All privilege and no responsibility: “The Duke and Duchess can’t have all the privilege of royal life with scant few of the concomitant responsibilities. Whereas latchkey kids and working parents just have to get on with it, he faffs about in Norfolk, being lord of the manor and putting in the occasional stint with the East Anglian Air Ambulance….Ordinary dads — whose taxes contribute towards the royal lifestyle — must find it a bit insulting that William luxuriates in the home life they can never have themselves. And while he might mean well, if William wants to earn the respect and affection of the British public, he is going to have to work a lot harder. In more ways than one.” [From The Daily Mail] Boom. I mean, Moir’s piece reads like our comment section, but it’s just further proof (in what is becoming a mountain of evidence) that the tide has really turned with William… and perhaps to a lesser degree, Kate. It does feel like William is getting the brunt of it, which is as it should be. He’s the one who is convinced he’s some sort of PR genius. He’s the one scheming away for ways to avoid work. He’s the one who comes across as “arrogant” and “spoiled.” Last thing – Us Weekly had an extremely unfortunate write-up about how William and Kate were able to have an in-hotel “spa day” during their tour of India. They apparently spent several hours getting royally pampered, complete with soothing wraps and massages. I’m so glad they were able to have a little mini-vacation within their taxpayer-funded vacation, you guys. Photos courtesy of WENN, Fame/Flynet, PCN.

Chrissy Teigen: “It bothers me [when models say] ‘I love to eat pizza’”

A photo posted by chrissy teigen (@chrissyteigen) on Mar 8, 2016 at 9:40am PST Chrissy Teigen covers Self Magazine. We just saw photos from her royal-themed baby shower, which some of you thought was gauche and others found sweet. Chrissy’s photoshoot theme for Self was motocross, which was clever. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a motocross theme for a women’s magazine, fitness or otherwise, apart from the occasional motorcycle as prop. They seem to have done the shoot when she was early in her pregnancy and hadn’t popped yet, or they Photoshopped her, it’s likely a bit of both. In the piece they say that Chrissy won’t discuss her due date as she’s trying to throw off the paparazzi. (Which is bizarre to me as she seems to enjoy them, but I get that she wants to protect her newborn.) They also talk about her cookbook and cooking blog, her TV hosting gigs, how busy she is and how she seems to get in a lot of twitter fights. I know Chrissy isn’t everyone’s favorite celebrity, she grates a little, but she does know how to hustle I’ll give her that. Plus she and John Legend are genuinely in love and coupled up, you can tell. On her approach to social media If I’m passionate about something, I’ll say it and deal with the consequences later. On her difficulty conceiving and going through IVF The big question was why this wasn’t working for us when I was young and he was healthy. I thought, People get pregnant by accident all the time! How does this happen? Emotionally, it could be really hard. One of the things that saved us is that we never did that real fertility thing, where you’re looking at the ovulation clock and saying, ‘Honey, get home; we have to do it right now.’ John would say, ‘Let’s never be that couple that has to schedule sex, where we put it on the calendar and say, OK, this is our night.’ So before we did IVF, even if we went a few days or a week, our feeling was, it’s cool, who cares? On being photographed at the beach when she was going through IVF I looked horrible, totally not myself. Then to not be able to say what it was, it sucked. On being both a foodie and a model It always bothered me when someone would interview a model and say, ‘What do you do to stay in shape?’ and she would say, ‘I love to eat pizza; I love to indulge.’ I’ve always been the first one to say, ‘Bulls—! No you don’t.’ So I’ve been hyperaware of that, and I waited years to write a cookbook because I wanted people to know I really do love food.” [She eats what she wants but stays active] I like having that balance. She’s worried about their new arrival but John is laid back He’s been wonderful. He has a big family with nieces and nephews, and he actually knows more than I do about kids. It’s going to be very sexy to see this new side of him… I’ve truly never been alone with a kid. I don’t think I’ve changed a diaper! I’m like, how many times a day do they go?… I’m a worrier, and he’s very laid-back. I am the crazier one in the relationship, and he’s more relaxed, for sure. She wants four kids, one after the other I think I’ll probably be pregnant all through my 30s,. I’ve always pictured everyone around the table for the holidays and together once a week. It’ll be heartbreaking if it doesn’t end up happening, but hopefully it will. We’ve got some embryos on hold. Four [kids] is good, I think. And then, maybe a dog after. [From Self] There’s more in the full piece about her commitment to writing her cookbook, which is out now, and how she wanted it to both be in her own voice and as accurate as she could make it. She reads comments on online recipes in her spare time and her love of cooking came from watching her Thai mom improvise recipes. As for her interview, I came away from it with a better understanding of her. Chrissy seems both Type A, which I can respect, and rather open and honest while seeking attention. It’s the last couple of things which make her a bit overexposed. Chrissy is in our face a lot, but she’s somehow just as well known as her pop star husband, and that’s a feat for a model. Oh and I love what she said about models claiming they love to indulge. They may, but their idea of indulging is not the same as the rest of us. Here’s a photo Chrissy recently Instagrammed from the couch with her husband and one of their adorably spoiled French bulldogs. How did they achieve this pic, did they use a tripod or did a friend or staffmember take it? romance A photo posted by chrissy teigen (@chrissyteigen) on Mar 6, 2016 at 9:10pm PST A photo posted by chrissy teigen (@chrissyteigen) on Mar 6, 2016 at 1:09pm PST

Amal Clooney’s red-suited press conference style: vampy or fine?

As we discussed yesterday, Amal Clooney was part of the legal team that got the former president of the Maldives out of jail. Amal wore a nonsensical coat – with lobster, hand and cat buttons/brooches – when she and the team went to 10 Downing Street over the weekend. Then on Monday, Amal and the team held a press conference at Amal’s law firm in London. For the press conference, Amal wore this red suit. And people are still talking about it. No one has the ID on this suit, which makes me wonder if this is something older that she’s had in her closet for years. I still think the suit is pretty good, minus the velvet trimming, which just makes it seem more like a Christmas-only suit rather than something appropriate for business meetings. I saw some criticism of the color, like Amal wanted to ensure that she stood out, that she was the diva dressed in blood red. I don’t know… I think red is her color and I think it’s fine for women to wear red to meetings, conferences, etc. Is it such a tragedy to stand out? That being said, I do think Amal’s styling was too “vampy” for the occasion. She paired her red suit with big curls, epic Salvatore Ferragamo stilettos, a Dolce & Gabbana tote and an inky black manicure. The whole look ended up being very… attention-grabbing. Oh, and she’s still wearing her giant engagement ring. And she’s still touching her hair a lot. Embed from Getty Images Embed from Getty Images Photos courtesy of Getty, Fame/Flynet and WENN.
