Jillian Michaels: “When you care more you train harder and eat better”

Redbook_JAN_Jillian-Michaels_edited-1-768x1024 - Jillian Michaels: "When you care more you train harder and eat better"

On why she’s so committed to working out and being healthy:

I’m a 42-year-old. I still like skinny jeans. I still prefer a two-piece instead of a one-piece, but now I have two young kids. So for me, I want to be skiing down the mountain alongside my kids instead of waiting at the bottom for them. I want to see their children graduate from college. I want to meet my grandchildren’s children. These are my whys.

On aging and why she’s in better shape now than she was in her 20s:

I care more, and when you care more you train harder and eat better. People believe that aging is this slow descent into decrepitude. That’s not true. When people say, “Oh, I’m 40 now, and this is happening to me and that’s happening to me,” it’s the cumulative effect of years of neglect, which—by the way—can still be turned around.

On why she thinks there’s too much pressure on women to get back to their pre-pregnancy bodies:

I was just talking to someone who was breast-feeding and already on a diet. I was like, “Dude, you’ve got to chill. If you start dropping more than two pounds a week, you’re going to compromise your milk supply.” The reality is that you can bounce back better than ever, but time frames vary for everyone. Everybody and every pregnancy is different. If it takes you a year, who cares?

Premiere Of Universal Pictures' "The Huntsman: Winter's War"

I know it’s belated, but happy administrative professionals day! I could never express my appreciation for all that you hard working folks do quite as adequately as Ellen DeGeneres did on Wednesday’s episode of Ellen, so I’m not even going to give it a go.

Apparently, one of the admins on the Warner Brothers lot is quite a fan of the Thor star (currently in The Huntsman: Winter’s War). Ellen, no stranger to the hidden camera gag, hooked the lucky lady up with the object of her cubicle dreams and the results were highly amusing. Check out the video below and enjoy the Edible Arrangement someone in your office got:

Chris, who plays the hunky secretary to the ladies of the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot, was awesome during this prank, don’t you think? I mean, look at how he expertly maneuvered around not only avoiding a naked massage, but an admin/Ellen threesome. What a great actor! And, if any of Ellen’s producers happen to read this, I’d love for Jon Hamm to stop by my office. Just saying.

Although the hunky Aussie has a prominent role in one of the most anticipated movies of the summer, he has jokingly made reference to the lack of Thor in the upcoming Avengers spin-off Captain America: Civil War. In a video on Walt Disney Studio’s Facebook page, the actor seemingly takes a moment out of his “workout” to address his character’s absence from the upcoming flick. He jokes, “You know it’s funny. Everybody keeps asking me: Are you Team Cap? Are you Team Iron Man? Who cares? I mean, where was the invite for me and Hulk? Just leave the two strongest, biggest Avengers out of this one, did you?”

Is it just me, or does anyone else think the Ghostbusters reboot may fare better than Civil War? I love me some Robert Downey Jr., but Chris is making me miss Thor. I think Chris will do just fine in Ghostbusters though, he’s gotten nothing but chuckles from the audiences I’ve sat through the trailer with. If nothing else, he certainly increased the number of resumes going into Warner Brothers for administrative staff!

Chrissy Teigen: “It bothers me [when models say] ‘I love to eat pizza’”

chrissy2

Chrissy Teigen covers Self Magazine. We just saw photos from her royal-themed baby shower, which some of you thought was gauche and others found sweet. Chrissy’s photoshoot theme for Self was motocross, which was clever. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a motocross theme for a women’s magazine, fitness or otherwise, apart from the occasional motorcycle as prop. They seem to have done the shoot when she was early in her pregnancy and hadn’t popped yet, or they Photoshopped her, it’s likely a bit of both. In the piece they say that Chrissy won’t discuss her due date as she’s trying to throw off the paparazzi. (Which is bizarre to me as she seems to enjoy them, but I get that she wants to protect her newborn.) They also talk about her cookbook and cooking blog, her TV hosting gigs, how busy she is and how she seems to get in a lot of twitter fights. I know Chrissy isn’t everyone’s favorite celebrity, she grates a little, but she does know how to hustle I’ll give her that. Plus she and John Legend are genuinely in love and coupled up, you can tell.

On her approach to social media
If I’m passionate about something, I’ll say it and deal with the consequences later.

On her difficulty conceiving and going through IVF
The big question was why this wasn’t working for us when I was young and he was healthy. I thought, People get pregnant by accident all the time! How does this happen? Emotionally, it could be really hard.

One of the things that saved us is that we never did that real fertility thing, where you’re looking at the ovulation clock and saying, ‘Honey, get home; we have to do it right now.’ John would say, ‘Let’s never be that couple that has to schedule sex, where we put it on the calendar and say, OK, this is our night.’ So before we did IVF, even if we went a few days or a week, our feeling was, it’s cool, who cares?

On being photographed at the beach when she was going through IVF
I looked horrible, totally not myself. Then to not be able to say what it was, it sucked.

On being both a foodie and a model
It always bothered me when someone would interview a model and say, ‘What do you do to stay in shape?’ and she would say, ‘I love to eat pizza; I love to indulge.’ I’ve always been the first one to say, ‘Bulls—! No you don’t.’ So I’ve been hyperaware of that, and I waited years to write a cookbook because I wanted people to know I really do love food.” [She eats what she wants but stays active] I like having that balance.

She’s worried about their new arrival but John is laid back
He’s been wonderful. He has a big family with nieces and nephews, and he actually knows more than I do about kids. It’s going to be very sexy to see this new side of him… I’ve truly never been alone with a kid. I don’t think I’ve changed a diaper! I’m like, how many times a day do they go?… I’m a worrier, and he’s very laid-back. I am the crazier one in the relationship, and he’s more relaxed, for sure.

She wants four kids, one after the other
I think I’ll probably be pregnant all through my 30s,. I’ve always pictured everyone around the table for the holidays and together once a week. It’ll be heartbreaking if it doesn’t end up happening, but hopefully it will. We’ve got some embryos on hold. Four [kids] is good, I think. And then, maybe a dog after.

On her looks:

“I’m not the skinniest or prettiest girl. But who cares? I feel sexy and beautiful. I’m single, but never struggling for suitors. I don’t mean to sound cocky, but I like myself, I’m proud of myself and people respond to that. The surgery and starving that comes with Hollywood is sick. I don’t want anything bad enough to not eat.”

… says Amy.

Melissa McCarthy Talks Insecurities

FFN_f_51754613

On being insecure at times:

‘I have caught my reflection and thought, ”Oof. That girl is struggling. That girl is tired.’ I’ve had mornings where I’m like, ”Oh God, I have weird hair. I look like Fraggle Rock. Why am I so puffy? What did I eat?” [But] who cares if my eyes are puffy because I ate 44 almonds last night? Or my legs are short? To my core, I don’t care.’

Bethenny Frankel: “Do I look like I need to eat a burger?”

FFN_f_51554323

On receiving criticism for being ‘too thin’:

“I was sick over the holidays. I don’t know, do I look bad? Do I look like I need to eat a burger? I don’t know. I feel like, ‘Who cares?’ They are always going to say something. I do have a brand called Skinnygirl, so I am going to get beaten up for it. It would be bad if I were overweight and had a brand called Skinnygirl, could you imagine?”

… says 44 year-old Bethenny.

A while back, Bethenny bragged on social media that she fit in her 4 year-old’s pajama:

On her positive upbringing:

My mom is a very encouraging woman. My whole life she told me, ‘You have to love who you are. You have an amazing personality, you have a great heart. Just be who you are.’ My mom never said, ‘I feel so ugly’, she never looked at her face and said, ‘I need a lift.’ I never saw her looking at herself negatively and therefore I never looked at myself that way. But some people aren’t as lucky to have a mother like mine, which is why we need curvy role models. I was told to look up to Marilyn Monroe and J.Lo, because those were the only two curvy women considered beautiful. We need role models for young girls who say, ‘Embrace your curves. Who cares that your body isn’t perfect?’

On her role as a plus-size model:

I’m meant to spread the word and change beauty and body standards in the fashion industry. And even outside the industry, in my whole community. A year and a half ago, I started a group called ALDA it means ‘wave’ in Icelandic with four other plus-size models. We go to schools to talk about body image acceptance.“We’re in the MIDDLE of a great conversation but we have YEARS before we hit the PEAK. Curves are here to stay.”

… says Ashley in The Edit.

See the rest of the spread next!
