Kaepernick’s Rookie Jersey is coming to auction

Colin Kaepernick, the football player who arguably started the BLM movement, began his professional career in 2011 with the San Fransisco 49ers.   And now the jersey he wore that first season is coming up for auction at the famed Juliens auction house.

The jersey, which is signed by Kaepernick, was worn by the quarterback on Oct. 2, 2011, when he entered the 49ers’ game against the Philadelphia Eagles in the first quarter. The seller wishes to remain anonymous.

Kaepernick, 32, has since become one of the most prominent and controversial sports figures in the United States.

“He’s a cultural icon. He’s up there now with Muhammad Ali, Jackie Robinson – somebody that’s using their fame to make a peaceful, powerful statement to highlight and bring attention to inequalities,” Martin Nolan, executive director of Julien’s Auctions, told Reuters.

The auction isn’t till December (we’ll totally be keeping an eye on it) and experts are saying it could go for $100,000. Which, per usual, I consider WAaaaaYYYyy under it’s potential.  Mark me down for nothing under $500k.
