Gwyneth Paltrow & daughter Apple get piercings every year on Apple’s birthday

Gwyneth Paltrow is selling jewelry on Goop. The line is called G. Label Jewelry Collection and is available on the Goop website currently. To announce the collection, Gwyneth posted the Instagram above in which she is wearing the Apple Circle Pavé Drop earrings priced at $1,450. The earrings are named after her daughter, Apple Martin, whom Gwyneth said inspired the collection and helped in the design process. Gwyneth also indicated this was all motivated by their mother and daughter tradition of getting a new piercing every year for Apple’s birthday. Every year.

Gwyneth Paltrow and daughter Apple Martin share a special style tradition each year when the Goop founder celebrates her eldest child’s birthday.

The lookalike mother-daughter duo get a new piercing on Apple’s birthday, so it’s no wonder Paltrow, 48, dedicated a design from her new Goop G. Label Jewelry collection to Apple, 17.

“Every year on Apple’s birthday, we get a new piercing — it’s this little tradition we have,” Paltrow said on Instagram. “She was a big inspiration for this collection and helped me refine the designs. She’ll definitely be ‘borrowing’ her namesake earrings.”

In Apple’s honor, the lifestyle guru and entrepreneur created the Apple Circle Pavé Drop Earrings for the line, a trio of hoops featuring 44 diamonds, retailing for $1,450. The sentimental earrings are one of six of the classic investment pieces Paltrow designed for Goop’s debut jewelry collection.

“I don’t differentiate between day and night. If I invest in a great piece of jewelry, I’m going to wear it all the time: I’ll sleep in it, wear it on the red carpet and pick up [my son] Moses from school in it,” she said

Jewelry has always held a special place in Paltrow’s heart. When the actress looked back at her life through style in a Vogue video, she shared the heartwarming story behind the pieces she wore to the 1999 Oscars: Harry Winston diamond earrings and a matching choker necklace.

“I had borrowed [these] Harry Winston earrings and necklace for the Oscars, and then after I won, my dad, as a present, surprised me with them,” Paltrow explained. “Now I’m gonna cry. So, that was very sweet.”

In my short tenure as a gossip blogger, I have seen my share of photos of Gwyneth Paltrow. You know what I have never noticed about Gwyneth? Multiple piercings. Up until I clicked on these jewelry shots, I’d never noticed any upper ear piercings. Apple turned 17 last month, when exactly did this tradition begin? Because there’s only one or two extra earrings in their ears and nothing in their noses. How many nipple rings does Gwynnie have? Also, I assume the nose and personal jewelry line will be the second rollout. Maybe Gwyneth can do a crossover and include a Christina Bar as a surprise in one of her vagina candles.

As for the G. Label Jewelry Collection, I like it. I can’t afford it, but I like the simplicity of the pieces. I’d wear everything but the ear cuff and that’s just because I am not a cuff person. Unlike Gwyneth, I do not sleep in my jewelry, and I frequently change mine out for day, night, diva, party, mood change, etc. But I also have very few investment pieces, so maybe my costume jewelry encourages switching it up more. I do like that Apple influenced the line and if she really did have a hand in refining the designs, good for her, she’s got a good eye. I’m sure they have gotten pierced on a couple of birthdays, I just doubt it has been every year or they would both look like pin cushions by now. But I’m all for family traditions and those inspiring creativity. I also love the story Gwyneth told about her dad buying her Oscar jewels as a surprise.

Tom Hiddleston: ‘I’m here to tell you that my butt is not dangerous’

I still find Tom Hiddleston’s W Magazine editorial to be the funniest thing of the week. Now that I’ve had more time to process it, it’s actually even funnier to me. The thing is, I don’t doubt that Tom can be a sexy guy. But Tom needs the right conditions, and the right conditions don’t involve a brightly lit room, white boxer shorts and Zoolander poses. The editorial still seems like a satire of what a “sexy” dude photoshoot should be. Imagine Mike Meyers or Will Ferrell doing the same editorial and it would be JUST AS FUNNY.

There’s been a lot of breast-beating amongst the true-blue Dragonflies and Hiddlestoners that W Magazine did Tom wrong, that this editorial was supposed to be part of a larger profile of up-and-coming TV stars or Emmy hopefuls, maybe. Perhaps that’s the case. But that still doesn’t explain why in God’s name Tom agreed to the photoshoot. Someone needs to be fired! The editorial is the visual equivalent of Tom’s trying-too-hard Graham Norton interview. And besides that, my guess is that someone on Tom’s team had to give the go-ahead to W Mag to run this piece as an “Introduction to Taylor Swift’s Boyfriend!” article. And if that’s the case, someone should be fired.

I didn’t get around to discussing this new quote from the W piece either – Tom was asked about how AMC edited out his naked butt from the American airing of The Night Manager. Tom says:

“I was surprised to hear that they cut my butt out. I’m here to tell you that my butt is not dangerous. And there are many, many more dangerous things that people are happy to broadcast. I don’t know what that says about the world we live in, but it probably says something.”

[From W Magazine]

I watched TNM as it aired on AMC and let me tell you, I felt that edit in my soul. It’s not that I was that hungry for Hiddlesbum, it’s that the edit made it seem like Jonathan Pine and Jed’s lovemaking lasted about 30 seconds, if that.

Meanwhile, I have to say, I’ve been avoiding a lot of the “think pieces” on TIDDLES, because I do this for a living and it pains me a little bit when people write about Hiddleston or Taylor Swift without understanding their individual histories. If you’ve followed Taylor’s romantic history, nothing about TIDDLES is a surprise at all. If you’ve followed Tom’s romantic history, everything about TIDDLES is a surprise. Which brings me to this “think piece” at the NY Post – “Taylor Swift Is Dating Like A Dude.” The main argument is that Taylor: A) doesn’t apologize, B) is not afraid to air her dirty laundry and trash-talk exes, C) rolls with an entourage, and D) rebounds quickly. While I agree that Taylor is feeling herself these days, when I think of “women who date like dudes,” I think of women like Kate Hudson or even (dare I say) Gwyneth Paltrow. They own their sh-t. And most importantly, they don’t play the victim. We’re about one month away from Taylor crying to Vanity Fair that she’s being “slut shamed” because she staged photos of her romantic rendezvous with Hiddles.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop ‘sex toy guide’ is exactly what you would expect

Gwyneth Paltrow has been talking about sex a lot lately. Maybe it’s part of her new branding scheme: The Sexual, Sensual Goop In Her 40s. Maybe it’s a late reaction to her divorce. Maybe Brad Falchuk is giving it to her properly. Or maybe it’s a combination of all of the above. In any case, Gwyneth is not content to merely say (odd) words about sex in interviews. This week’s Goop-letter is the first-ever “Sex Issue.” Sex, Goop Style. The Low-Down on Goop’s Downtown. Becky with the Bad Straw Hair has sex. And she wants you to know about it.

You can see the whole Goop site here. The Sex Issue features an article about an “erotic theater” in LA, because rich people can’t just watch p0rn in the comfort of their own homes anymore. There’s an article about “hormone free” technology to improving your sex life. There’s a Goopy article about whether or not your lube is toxic, and whether you should make your own lube at home. There’s an informative and interesting piece about sexual trauma and psychological scarring, and how that affects one’s sex life.

But the piece that is getting the most attention is the Goop Sex Toy Guide. Because it wouldn’t be Goop if Gwyneth wasn’t recommending that you spend thousands of dollars on seasonal, artisanal vibrators. I’ll give Goop some credit – there are some affordable recommendations on her list, like a $69 feather toy, Ben Wa balls that only cost $25 and $10 “cleaning spray,” because nothing says romance like Windexing your beav. But because she’s Gwyneth, she has to remind you that only 24-carat gold touches her ‘gina: she is literally recommending a $15,000 24-carat gold dildo. There’s also a $535 whip, a $400 nipple-clamp necklace, and a $156 G-spot App. Yes, there’s an app for that.

Julia Roberts on staying in shape: ‘Remain calm, drink your water & be joyful’

julia instyle

The Cannes Film Festival starts next week, and Team USA is going to be pretty well-represented on the red carpet. In addition to the premiere of Woody Allen’s new movie, Café Society, Jodie Foster will be premiering her new film, Money Monster. Which means we’ll see Julia Roberts, George Clooney and probably Amal Clooney on the carpet. I’m genuinely excited about that. Julia tells InStyle – she’s the cover girl for June – that she might be wearing Givenchy, in which case it’s going to be HUGE… a huge disaster, that is, because Riccardo Tisci can’t design to save his life. But it will be great to see what Amal wears. Anyway, here are some highlights from Julia’s InStyle interview.

On Jodie Foster: “Well, in my mind, she’s so scary, but really she’s so sweet… she’s so talented, notoriously brilliant. And she’s such a great actor. And really, she is very no-nonsense. She doesn’t think that there has to be some incredible, painful struggle to accomplish your goals. I thought she was crazy to be helming me and George—it’s like trying to keep puppies in a box.”

Whether she’ll ever be on social media: “I think it’s like—what’s a good analogy? Listen, I don’t have my head in the sand. I’m aware of the different outlets, however you label them. It’s like people talking about a TV show: I can be perfectly aware of the TV show and the story, but it doesn’t mean I watch it. I have other friends who watch it, and they tell me about it. I mean, we were talking about Instagram. Everyone has Instagram on their phone. And I just, yeah, [if I had it] I would be looking at it all the time.”

What she learned from her mom: “One of the greatest things she ever did for me … I remember asking her—when I had three kids under 3 years old and just felt like I was running in a thousand directions at once—“How on earth did you raise all of us? You worked full-time, and you did all these things.” She could have said, “Well, you know, you just do your best.” But she said, “Darling, it’s called day care. I dropped you and your sisters off at 7:30 in the morning, and I would pick you up at 4 in the afternoon.” But it didn’t feel like that to me. I didn’t feel like I was a dropped-off person who didn’t see her mom all day. I just felt completely part of her life, and she was part of mine. And that’s the magic trick: to make people feel that they’re with you when they’re not.”

Whether she ever just goes shopping: “I do from time to time. It just kind of strikes at moments. The thing I never understood about fashion is that you put something on and you look and feel great, and then you put it on again 10 days later and it’s terrible.”

How she stays in shape: “I feel like if I knew all the things to do [in terms of exercise], I would probably look like I was put together with tape. I would just go crazy. So I think, better just to remain calm, drink your water, get your sleep and be joyful. We definitely try to eat mindfully. As I always say to my kids, ‘You have to eat the good stuff to get the good stuff.’”

Her first time at Cannes: “I’ve kind of avoided it. I mean, the first time I ever went to Asia was for a movie, Eat, Pray, Love. I’m a late bloomer.”

[From InStyle, People]

I always think Julia Roberts and Jennifer Aniston have the same kind of reaction to the rise of social media: social media came after their heydays, and they don’t really want to bother engaging in it. Surprisingly, Gwyneth Paltrow was in the same kind of boat, but she embraced her online presence and now she’s built an entirely new career out of it. Now, unlike other social-media-shy celebrities, I don’t get the feeling that Julia looks down on it at all. Like, she’s not judging it. She’s just not engaging with it at all. Also: I like what she says about her mom dropping off the kids at day care.
