Kate Beckinsale: “I do circuit training interspersed with brutal cardio”

celebrity-morning-routine-3 - Kate Beckinsale: "I do circuit training interspersed with brutal cardio"

On not drinking alcohol ever:

I don’t drink alcohol. I feel [its effects] very quickly, so I’ve never actually had an entire glass of anything alcoholic.

On her celebrity morning routine:

I basically wake up, eat breakfast, and then work out. I prefer to get it done in the morning. That said I don’t naturally get up early. It would be much better for me if the entire world went to bed at 4 am and woke up at noon. But it doesn’t, so I’m usually staggering around first thing.

On her favorite workouts:

Hard-core workouts have really made a big difference in my life. I have a lot of internal energy, and intense exercise helps me channel that energy. I find balance by doing a workout that makes me pour sweat. I never was that girl before, but I am now. I do circuit training interspersed with brutal cardio, such as crazy things on a nonmotorized treadmill. That part is torture. But the thing I like about circuit training is that you’re never doing one thing for very long. You get to the point where you almost can’t bear it, and it changes to something else.

… says 43 year-old Kate.

Tracee Ellis Ross: “I am small for people and big for an actress”

Tracee-Ellis-Ross-weight - Tracee Ellis Ross: "I am small for people and big for an actress"

44 year-old Tracee Ellis Ross, who stars in Black-ish, recently opened up to People Magazine about weight fluctuations, style and not being Hollywood thin.

The full story from People:

“I’ve always been connected to the narrative of clothing,” she says. “My mom taught me that you can spend money on nice things if you’re going to use them. For example, I have an Alexander McQueen jacket that I wear with everything, even sweatpants.”

One of the things she has also learned over the years is stop obsessing over her size despite not being Hollywood thin.

“You know, I am not a sample size,” she says. “I am not a model size. I am small for people and big for an actress. My weight fluctuates a lot and I move with it. It is what it is. That’s why I try not to have a relationship with the size that I am.

And she deals with the change in her own unique way. “I actually own my favorite jeans in three sizes—28, 29 and 30,” she explains.

“Depending on how I feel, I always start with the big ones and if I get to go down, great,” she says. “It’s the same thing with dresses and clothing. I want to wear something that makes me feel gorgeous, not that makes me feel self-conscious about my body. Hiding insecurities or putting attention on the stuff that feels good is really the key…”

Ultimately, though, when it comes to picking out her looks, she says “there’s no real method to my madness.” All she does, she says, is “ask what is the best thing out of my closet or the best thing on the rack that makes me feel good and fits.”

Cindy Crawford: ‘I don’t need people pointing out I don’t look 20’

Cindy-Crawford-age-3 - Cindy Crawford: 'I don't need people pointing out I don't look 20'

On being criticized on Instagram for not looking like she did at age 20:

I don’t need everyone on Instagram pointing out that I don’t look the same way I did when I was 20. I know that. Sometimes when you’re in the public eye, it can be hard, and that’s where you kind of have to work on yourself. No matter what I do, I’m not going to look 20 or 30. I just want to look great for 50. I exercise, eat healthy and take really good care of my skin. There’s pressure on women to do the undoable, which is not age. But it’s about looking great for however old you are, regardless of what that number is.

Last year, Cindy raised a few eyebrows when she was quoted saying:

I always tease my daughter (14) – who everyone agrees, is a mini-me – and say ‘You have my old hair – I want it back!’ or, ‘You have my old legs – I want them back.’

On never feeling like a bombshell and not believing she had a womanly figure:

I always felt like a bit of a tomboy, and I never looked at my body as particularly sexual — I wasn’t a curvy girl.

On how she looks totally different and curvier now, after having a baby:

But to be able to see my body afterwards, and of course you get, like, hips. Finally, for the first time, I feel like I have a bit more of a womanly figure … I think you just feel really feminine.

On how she’s most uncomfortable when modeling bikinis:

‘I’d much rather shoot completely naked than in a swimsuit. It’s just always been my thing. I’ve never been much of a beach girl. I grew up in Washington — it’s freezing in that ocean. So it’s out of my comfort zone, and it’s the craziest thing that I’m probably most known for Sports Illustrated, when that’s how I feel the most uncomfortable.’

Melissa McCarthy, who surprised her fans earlier this year with her 50 pounds weight loss, launched a clothing line a while ago and today, she is back to show us her fall collection, with cute mix and match pieces that she is modeling herself.

Melissa on her Seven7 collection that carries sizes for all:

The fun of it is you should be able to put these things together and not have to make a choice about going out to dinner or getting the sweater. Wear the sweater to dinner!

Earlier this year, Melissa shared some details about her 50 pounds weight loss:

I actually am a size 14. No trick, nothing to tell, just super boring life. You bring it real down, you don’t do anything fun and you go to bed at 7:30 — that’s the trick. (My) husband will ask, “Is it five and are you in jammies?” “I’m gonna call them loungewear.

Gigi Hadid on Her Runway Walk: “Obviously I’m not the best”

gigi-hadid-legs-runway

Gigi Hadid has transformed herself in the past years from a bubbly and more athletic-looking model that mostly did sexy photo-shoots to a high-fashion, much skinnier model. And this week, the blonde beauty opened up about her runway walk and how it definitely needs work.

On her career as a runway model:

Before I started modeling, I was more into photographers. I studied a lot how models made pictures in the sense that you have to be a positive part of a picture and make it better. And that’s what is really important for me on set. There’s some people that are bad at looking at monitors and some people that are good looking at monitors. And monitors really help me because I’m able to look at a picture and see where I fit into it, see what I can add to the picture instead of just being a person that’s on the page.

“But the runway thing, it’s funny because obviously I’m not the best on the runway. But what do you do? When you’re the face of a brand you show up to the show. My first show people were already expecting a lot more from me than I [was capable of at the time]. I never was taught how to walk on the runway. And maybe that’s because it moved really quickly for me, that people just assumed that that was something I knew. So, you know, a year and a half later, I’m still learning. I got some compliments on my Tom Ford show, so I’m getting better. I’m working on it, but I’m human. I still get insecure on the runway, but it’s really exciting for me because I want to get better. I love being on the runway.

… says Gigi.

Hailey Baldwin Defends Herself and the Rest of Instagram Models

haliey-baldwin-model

Instagram models are a new league these days – 19 year-old Hailey Baldwin is part of the Kendall-Gigi-rest-of-the-models-with famous-parents squad and she is definitely on a mission of defending her career and accomplishments. Here she is in Harper’s Bazaar this month, posing while wearing demure ensembles.

On the fact that the Instagram models are criticized for not being real supermodels:

The older supermodels sometimes don’t agree with the fact there is a new generation of models. We’re not saying we’re supermodels. I’d rather people look at us as businesspeople, and, yes, modeling is our business right now, but we’re not trying to take anybody’s spot and we’re not trying to discredit the past.

… says Hailey in the current issue of Harper’s Bazaar magazine.
