A few months ago, Aaron Rodgers announced that he had secretly married a woman named Brittani. Brittani has never been photographed by any newspaper or magazine, she has not attended any events with her husband, and she doesn’t seem to have any social media accounts. When people had questions about whether Brittani exists, Aaron argued that his never-seen wife has a right to privacy, and he shouldn’t have to answer questions about his marriage. It’s been a real mystery. Well, Aaron is adding to the mystery. Not only does Brittani exist, but she has a sister named Mia, and Mia is a big Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Thus, Mia encouraged her brother-in-law to take the one-year contract with the Steelers. From Aaron’s recent profile in The Athletic:

For his part, Rodgers did the Steelers a solid by taking a bargain-rate deal (one year, $13.65 million) that helped free up salary-cap space. The NFL’s career leader in passer rating almost certainly could have commanded a larger salary, but Rodgers, who got married over the offseason, said he heeded the advice of one of his new in-laws.

“I was taking orders from my (new) sister-in-law, Mia,” Rodgers said, smiling. “She’s 20 and she’s the brains of the family; you just have to ask her.”

He laughed, then continued, “No — but that is partially serious for sure. Every team that I talked to, I said, ‘Listen, if I play, I’m not going to take a ton of money. I’ve made a ton of money. I don’t need the money.’”

We suddenly have more information about his sister-in-law than his wife? His sister-in-law is a 20-year-old Steelers fan who is the “brains” of the family. Is Brittani older or younger than Mia, I wonder? Will Mia turn up at Aaron’s Steelers games? Will Brittani? I’m intrigued, I guess. I feel like I’m compiling clues for a blind item. BI: This washed up football player isn’t content to create a fictional bride, he’s also made up an entirely fictional sister-in-law who is a 20-year-old Steelers fan.

I’m still so proud of my headline last week, “Aaron Rodgers: My never-seen wife Brittani exists and has a right to privacy.” I’m still patting myself on the back over that one. So, yeah, Aaron Rodgers is back and playing for one year only with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He will probably retire next year, but who knows. Around the time when he signed his Steelers contract, Aaron announced that he’d gotten married to a woman named Brittani. No one has seen Brittani, no one knows if she exists and no one knows what the hell is going on with Aaron these days. That’s the point of this week’s Us Weekly cover story. They’re painting him as a local/national man of mystery, when really, his brain became irretrievably broken during the pandemic and he’s never recovered. It really is that simple – he was already a man prone to toxicity in his personal relationships, and all of it got magnified and then snowballed during the pandemic. From Us Weekly:

Aaon Rodgers remains shrouded in mystery. He surprised reporters at a June 10 press conference when he revealed he’d married his girlfriend, Brittani, “a couple of months” earlier. (He announced he was in “a serious relationship” during an April appearance on The Pat McAfee Show and sparked speculation he’d tied the knot after he was spotted wearing a ring at a Kentucky Derby event in May.) As of press time, he has yet to be seen with his new bride.

With talk about his eventual retirement (Rodgers said that he’d chosen to “stay in the public eye for one more season” during a June 24 interview on The Pat McAfee Show), the question of who he really is lingers: Is he a loyal teammate and leader or an arrogant and overrated player? An emotionally-evolved male or a toxic, conspiracist bro? A victim of negative media bias or a master of controlling the narrative? An alpha athlete or a spiritual seeker?

“Aaron [marches] to the beat of his own drum,” his trainer and Align Podcast host, Aaron Alexander, tells Us, while Rodgers’ childhood friend Jordan Russell, with whom he’s still close, calls him “a multifaceted person.” Even sports commentator Skip Bayless, who’s been critical of Rodgers admits, “I have never encountered a professional athlete like him on and off the field.”

During a 2023 episode of HBO Max’s Hard Knocks, the QB talked about seeing a UFO, and in 2024, Jimmy Kimmel threatened legal action after Rodgers implied the talk show host had ties to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The Chico, California, native has been labeled a contrarian, but Russell says his pal is simply standing up for what he believes in. “If Aaron disagrees, he’s going to share his disagreement. He’s not contradictory just to be contradictory.” Rodgers’ friend and Chicago Bears safety Adrian Colbert tells Us the QB doesn’t follow the status quo for the sake of it. “Aaron understands that we all get to choose how we want to live our lives. Whether it disrupts or upsets people, that’s not really his problem.”

I think he is contradictory just for the hell of it – a contrarian with no real belief system, a “debate me, bro” with absolutely no knowledge. I also think he had multiple Covid infections which have affected him long-term, but that’s just my armchair diagnosis. Anyway, I find it curious that there’s an attempt to “clean up” his image at this point, or that Us Weekly would even bother to give him the benefit of doubt. He’s done absolutely nothing to deserve it – he’s shown everyone who he is, people should believe him. And Free Brittani! If she exists.

Earlier this month, Aaron Rodgers signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, in what will probably be his last year playing professional football. Soon after he arrived in Pittsburgh, Rodgers suddenly announced something odd: he got married to a woman named “Brittani” a few months ago. No one had ever heard of her or seen her in public, alone or with Aaron. But he rocked up with a wedding ring and people have been like “????” ever since. The Mail did some digging (I know, I know) and they can’t find any trace of a legal marriage in any of the public records they’ve examined. Aaron’s friends and family also wonder if any of this is legit. Well, on Tuesday, Rodgers was back on the Pat McAfee Show and he ended up performing a soliloquy about his privacy and his wife’s privacy.

Aaron Rodgers is pleading for his privacy. The 41-year-old NFL star, who secretly married his wife, Brittani, earlier this year, returned to the Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, June 24 and slammed the “entitlement to information” about his personal life and said his wife is a “private person” who doesn’t want to be in the public eye.

“It’s a sick society, isn’t it?,” Rodgers began his lengthy message on the show. The quarterback, who said he plans to play just one season with the Steelers before retiring, said he had “lived in the public eye 20 years” and experienced a “public relationship.” Likely referring to his tumultuous relationships with actress Shailene Woodley and former race car driver Danica Patrick, he then asked, “How did that work out?”

The newest Pittsburgh Steeler listed off ways that he feels his privacy has been invaded by the public, including “people calling the paparazzi” and “stalking me on the beach” during his offseason. “I had people leaking my home information,” said Rodgers.


“I didn’t want any of that, didn’t like any of that, and now I’m with somebody who’s private,” he added of Brittani, who “doesn’t want to be in the public eye” and “didn’t sign up to be a celebrity.”

Rodgers said he wants his “personal life to be private” and asked why “entitlement to personal information” has become a “norm” in society. “It’s a norm to be able to have athletes’ addresses?,” he continued, sharing that the details of a home he purchased in Pittsburgh were posted online. “What happened to common decency about security and a personal life?”

Again, Rodgers described his wife as a “private person” who “doesn’t have social media” and said the public will only see photos of her when and if she chooses. “If and when she wants to be out, and there’s a picture, she’ll choose that and she has a right to that,” the quarterback said.

Concluding his monologue, Rodgers told McAfee that once he plays his last season in the fall, he’s planning to escape from the public eye entirely. “I told you, when this is all done, I’m out. You won’t see me. And I know that I’ve chosen to be in the public eye for one more season, but my private life is staying private. The entitlement to information about my private life is so f—ing ridiculous and embarrassing,” the NFL star continued.

Obviously, Aaron Rodgers has the right to privacy, and it sucks that people found and published his home address. And yeah, people call the paparazzi on celebrities sometimes. As someone who sees a lot of paparazzi photos at our subscriptions to various photo agencies, I’ve always been surprised by how few photos there are of Rodgers though, even when he was dating Danica and Shailene. Maybe he’s just good at avoiding them. As for Brittani’s privacy and this whole secret-marriage storyline… I really do not know. Even before all of this, I thought Aaron was one of those dudes who completely lost the plot during the pandemic and never recovered. I hope Brittani exists and that she really is just a private person, that’s all I’ll say.

Since I really don’t care about football, I only really watched the first half of the Super Bowl for the jokes and memes. That’s when I learned about Cooper DeJean, the Philadelphia Eagles’ cornerback who got a pick-six interception on his 22nd birthday, which was the same day as the Super Bowl. People fell in love with DeJean and he became one of the few acceptable white guys during Black History Month. There was truly a lot of commentary about DeJean being a rare “Exciting White” in the NFL. I bring up DeJean because seeing a young guy perform like that in the biggest game and help his team win a ring must have shifted a lot of conversations in a lot of teams. Well, surprise, the New York Jets are dropping Covid-Toe White Aaron Rodgers. From the Jets’ press release:

The Jets met with Aaron Rodgers last week and informed him they will be moving forward without him.

“Last week we met with Aaron and shared that our intention was to move in a different direction at quarterback,” said HC Aaron Glenn and GM Darren Mougey in a statement released by the team. “It was important to have this discussion now to provide clarity and enable each of us the proper time to plan for our respective futures. We want to thank him for the leadership, passion, and dedication he brought to the organization and wish him success moving forward.”

Returning from a torn Achilles tendon, Rodgers, who turned 41 in December, started 17 games last season. His 3,897 yards and 28 TDs were the third-best single-season totals in franchise history, respectively.

“I personally want to thank Aaron for his time at the New York Jets,” said Chairman Woody Johnson in a statement released by the team. “His arrival in 2023 was met with unbridled excitement and I will forever be grateful that he chose to join us to continue his Hall of Fame career. From day one, he embodied all that it meant to be a New York Jet, embraced our fans, and immersed himself in our city. That is what I will remember most when I look back at his time here. He will always be welcome, and I wish him only the best in whatever he chooses to do next.”

The Jets will reset with a new QB, a new HC in Glenn, a new GM in Mougey, a new offensive coordinator in Tanner Engstrand and largely a new coaching staff. Veteran Tyrod Taylor, Jordan Travis, a 2024 fifth-round pick from Florida State who was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list in August, and Adrian Martinez, who signed a futures contract in January, are the three other QBs currently on the roster.

Rodgers’ 2023-2024 season was a mess because he tore his Achilles in his first game for the Jets. He did play in the ‘24-’25 season, but obviously… yeah, it wasn’t happening. It does feel like he stayed at the party too long, which was what happened to Tom Brady too. It’s happening in other sports too, where the “legends” just don’t know how and when to say goodbye, or they’re still trying to squeeze every last drop out of their careers. I think, for the most part, it’s fine that the legends keep limping along because they’re not ready to quit. But in a team sport, it does fall on the management to say “you know what, this is no longer working.” Which is what happened here. It makes it easier for the Jets to let him go because he is such a nutjob too – his Netflix docuseries just came out in December, and it mostly sank without a trace. My guess? Rodgers goes into MAGA politics next.

Many people don’t remember this, but there was a time when Aaron Rodgers was considered one of the smartest guys in the NFL. He appeared on Jeopardy a few times, he appeared on Key & Peele, he seemed humble and intelligent and even sort of cool. Then the pandemic happened and it’s like his brain became irretrievably broken somewhere along the way. He made his whole personality into being an anti-vaccine loser who mocked scientists and doctors. Last year, he had a whole-ass meltdown when Travis Kelce shrugged off Aaron’s attempt to mock Kelce’s covid vaccine commercials. Earlier this year, Rodgers had such a crazy conspiracist meltdown on Pat McAfee’s show that McAfee had to apologize on air and Rodgers was booted off the show for a time. Well, would you like a three-episode Netflix docuseries about Aaron Rodgers?

The thing is, I would actually watch a real docuseries about Aaron completely losing the plot, or what the hell happened to him in the past five or six years, including why he started beefing so hard with his own family. But this is not THAT. This is something Aaron agreed to, probably hoping that it would help his image the same way David Beckham’s Netflix series helped him. The most telling moment, for me, is the clip of Robert Kennedy Jr. asking Aaron if he’s ever thought about politics. The fact that Aaron and RFK Jr. are politically aligned and friendly enough for that on-camera conversation says more to me than two hours of Aaron taking mushrooms at the beach or whatever.

I don’t know much about Pat McAfee other than “he’s some kind of successful sports commentator/analyst.” McAfee currently runs the successful The Pat McAfee Show, which airs on ESPN and their streaming service. Aaron Rodgers basically signed a contract to come on the show every Tuesday and provide analysis of football and sports culture. Aaron’s Tuesday appearances have been a descent into madness, with Aaron becoming radicalized before our eyes over the course of about four years. Rodgers was once seen as an intelligent, attractive football “hunk.” He’s now an anti-vaxxer, a QAnon dumbass and someone who gleefully spreads rumors about how his enemies are pedophiles.

Two Tuesdays ago, Rodgers did just that on McAfee’s show, insinuating that Jimmy Kimmel’s name would appear in the Epstein files. Kimmel clapped back HARD and threatened to sue. McAfee was so flummoxed that he had to put on a long-sleeve shirt and walk back Rodgers comments. Then Rodgers appeared on McAfee’s show two days ago and Rodgers refused to apologize to Kimmel and instead went on another anti-vaccine tirade. Pat McAfee has had enough. He said Rodgers is done (on his show, at least).

Aaron Rodgers will not be returning to The Pat McAfee Show in the near future following comments he made insinuating that Jimmy Kimmel could be linked to Jeffrey Epstein.

On Wednesday, sports analyst McAfee, 36, announced that the weekly segment “Aaron Rodgers Tuesday” would no longer be featured for the remainder of this football season.

“I’m pumped that that is no longer gonna be every single Wednesday of my life,” McAfee said as he and two others on his show applauded.

“So ‘Aaron Rodgers Tuesday,’ season four, is done. There’s gonna be a lot of people that are happy with that, myself included. To be honest, the way it ended, it got real loud… I’m happy that he’s not gonna be [in] my mentions going forward, which is great news.”

A source also told CNN that McAfee ended Rodgers’ segment “due to his recent behavior, not the conclusion of the regular NFL season.” They want to underline that for ESPN/Disney – Rodgers is out specifically because he’s a nutjob, not because of any football reasons. While McAfee could probably find success somewhere other than ESPN, you could actually tell that he was uncomfortable with Rodgers using the show as a platform for an increasingly bonkers worldview. I suspect ESPN/Disney went to McAfee and they were like “Rodgers should go” and McAfee was like “I totally agree, I’ll do it ASAP.”
