Blake Shelton loves his wife’s gingerbread houses & holiday decorations

I know Blake Shelton isn’t everybody’s cup of tea, but I adore reading his interviews these days. Blake is so happy to be settled down and married to Gwen Stefani. After the way Gwen and Blake’s respective ex-spouses treated them, it’s so lovely that they found each other and they make each other so happy. Blake seems especially awestruck that he found a wife who loves the more traditional family life, cooking and party-planning and decorating. Well, Blake is still giving interviews ahead of his New Year’s Eve special, and he spoke to People Magazine about how much he and Gwen love to decorate for the holidays.

The holidays aren’t just a season at Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s home — it’s an all-encompassing state of mind. “I think we’re the biggest celebrators of holidays of any of my friends and family members. We really go for it,” he told PEOPLE. “Gwen and I love to pull up to the house and see over-the-top Christmas decorations or walk into the house during Thanksgiving and see all the pumpkins.”

The country singer, 47, often feels “nostalgic” around the holidays.

“Gwen is the perfect person for me to be with because that is one of her passions. So we really lean into the holidays literally as much as we possibly can without just going broke doing it. We love it that much,” he said.

One thing Shelton doesn’t do: hang Christmas lights on the outside of the house. Stefani, 54, doesn’t either.

“That’s one of those things where it’s like, I’ve made my point. I’ve got some money. I’m not going to break my own neck to get up there. I’m going to hire some guy who’s way better at it than I am,” he joked.

While Shelton helps with the decor, he acknowledges that his wife (and hired help) does the brunt of it.

“Gwen’s got the little town set up in the house, the fake snow everywhere. I just love all of that stuff, the gingerbread houses. We really go over the top with it,” he said. “I’ll sit there and stare at that stuff all day long.”

However, Shelton and Stefani love to cook together, with their holiday spreads home-cooked every year. For the 2023 season, the couple enjoyed a Funyon-coated turkey for Thanksgiving, while Christmas was celebrated with an Italian feast they made themselves.

[From People]

Wow, obviously I knew that Gwen is Italian-American but I guess I didn’t realize that she does an “Italian feast” for Christmas. I wonder if it’s the traditional Feast of the Seven Fishes? Anyway, I enjoy how “domesticated” Blake seems with Gwen, but not just that – in a world where men fall all over themselves to mock or denigrate their wives and partners (especially over the holidays), Blake is like: no, I’m really into all of this, I f–king love your gingerbread houses, let’s start planning how we’ll decorate the house for Valentine’s Day, babe. It’s positive masculinity and he’s also telling his country bros: you too can get lost in the magic of holidays!

Blake Shelton’s New Year’s resolution is to ‘cut back or stop drinking altogether’

Blake Shelton will perform on CBS’s New Year’s Eve concert, New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash. Blake has had a pretty quiet year – he left The Voice one year ago, he hasn’t released any studio albums in a few years, and he’s been working on a few side projects. Mostly, he just seems to enjoy being married to Gwen Stefani and helping her raise her sons. He loves those boys fiercely, and he really enjoys being a stepfather and supporting Gwen however he can. I was actually surprised to see that he gave an interview to Entertainment Tonight about his NYE gig, and he ended up talking about New Year’s resolutions and how 2024 might be the year he finally stops drinking.

Blake Shelton is in the midst of a very relatable challenge — keeping true to his New Year’s resolutions. The “God’s Country” crooner, for years now, has said he’s cutting out alcohol. Or, at the very least, cut back. So far no dice.

But the 47-year-old singer tells ET’s Rachel Smith that this is the year. This is the year when he’ll, at the very least, cut back on the booze, if not cut it out altogether. It’s tough, what with celebratory occasions always on the calendar, or just living the good life alongside his wife, Gwen Stefani, and their blended family. But this is the year. Shelton’s making sure of that, and he’s now afraid to let be known that that is his New Year’s resolution.

“I haven’t managed to stop drinking yet. That’s been, you know, even cutting back has been hard,” Shelton admits. “I mean, it’s a resolution though. And I’ll say it again right now — that’s my New Year’s resolution, is to either cut back or stop drinking altogether. Let’s just say I said it.”

[From ET]

Blake’s whole “brand” is drinking, singing about drinking, having regrets about his drinking, and talking about how much he loves to drink. Part of me thinks that it really is just brand management and he’s not actually drunk the whole time, but he knows people “expect” it of him. That being said, I do hope he stops drinking. I’m curious about the bigger changes he’s made in his life in recent years, and he clearly wants this marriage to stick. I wonder if Gwen was the one who said “maybe you should quit drinking.” He’s 47 – it’s not cute anymore, even if it’s just a country-music image thing. I quit drinking for good in my early 30s and I genuinely don’t know how people my age can still get sh-tfaced on a regular basis.

Blake Shelton: ‘Every day I’ve fallen in love with the boys as much as I do with Gwen’

This is pretty cheeseball, but I adore the way Blake Shelton loves being a stepfather. It adds to his appeal, and it’s a wonderful example, I think, for other men. There are a lot of single moms and divorced moms out there, and may their lives be blessed with men who adore their children as much as Blake Shelton adores his stepsons. It’s been that way from the start of his relationship with Gwen too – soon after they got together, she was bringing the boys to Oklahoma, and he was providing them with a different kind of life than the way they live in LA. Zuma, Kingston and Apollo seem to adore Blake right back. Obviously, Blake and Gwen got married last year and everything seems to be going along swimmingly. Blake talked about fatherhood and more in a lengthy new interview with Country Countdown USA:

He’s prepared to take more of a step away from music: “What I’ve been looking forward to doing for the last four or five years is eyeing that timeline, that part of my career, where I just need to start stripping some things away. You gotta get some life in there, and marrying Gwen, I’ve married into a family. She’s got three boys … and all of a sudden you go, there’s other stuff.”

Choosing to get involved with a mother of three: “I think Gwen thought, when we first started seeing each other, that it was just gonna be a moment in time because of that,” he said, alluding to her concern about whether he would want her sons in his life. But Shelton said he didn’t think twice about making a commitment to the boys — and he did so because he had such a fine example in his own father, who married his mother when she already had a baby, his brother, Richie. “He took Richie on and raised him from the time he was 1 year old, and my brother never thought of my dad as anything other than his dad… The example that my dad set for me was that [child] was not even a consideration [in a romantic partnership]. You got three boys? Awesome! My dad did it. My dad raised me. I could do this. I didn’t know what I was signing up for, but I was all about signing up for it. And every day I’ve fallen in love with the boys as much as I do with Gwen.”

Bringing the boys to his 1,300-acre ranch near Tishomingo: “The two of them [the older boys] were like, ‘Well, what do we do now?’ I go, ‘Go out that door and don’t come back till you’re too tired to go any further.’ Well, they can’t even imagine just going down to the creek with a net or turning over rocks or getting on a buggy and driving around.” Today, Shelton said, his ranch has become “like Disneyland” for all three of his stepsons. He shared that he’s taught them how to fish, but he added, the boys have other favorite pursuits: “When it comes to burning things and starting fires and throwing hatchets, you better get out of the way!”

On Gwen’s faith: “I think honestly, looking back, that under the circumstances that Gwen and I fell in love with each other and got together was all the proof I needed. She has such a strong faith in God. I mean, if Gwen was sitting here right now, she would go ‘God’” — Shelton raised one hand high over his head — and then ‘everything else.’” He lowered the other hand toward the floor. “Just watching her and learning from her and learning how she thinks and how she treats people and how she just operates in her life, naturally I start seeing the God in everything, because she does.”

Gwen strengthened his relationships with his family: Shelton said his wife also has tightened the bonds with his sister, mother and stepfather. (Shelton lost his father in 2012.) “She’s got her arms around all of them,” he said, “and I never experienced that with anybody really, because that’s a lot to take on, and family’s first for Gwen.”

Gwen cooks: “Gwen’s Italian. She’s other things, too, but she really leans into the Italian part of her blood, and that comes with lots and lots and lots of family gatherings and lots of food. I mean, there’s a reason that my chin looks like a f—ing stork, and I’m OK with it!”

[From Hello & People]

It strikes me that Gwen and Blake must have been so exotic to each other. Gwen, the California girl who is also from a tight-knit, Catholic, Italian family. Blake, the Oklahoma redneck with two divorces under his belt and a lot of family mess. She’s blonde hair and red lipstick, he’s flannel shirts and neckbeards. But it works, and I think Blake’s devotion to Gwen and her sons is a huge reason why they work so well together. Anyway, I came away from this kind of moved? (Also: it’s so funny to me that all of this is probably driving Gavin Rossdale up the wall.)

Blake Shelton on people saying he’s a lazy deadbeat husband: ‘The truth is, I am’

blake gwen christmas

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani got married in Oklahoma back in July. By all accounts, Gwen organized and planned everything and Blake was very happy to let her do her own thing. The wedding photos made everything look a lot nicer than I expected – Gwen’s Vera Wang dresses were pretty but not over-the-top. There was tons of food. Kids and dogs were included. Golf carts were utilized. Blake appeared on The Ellen Show this week and he’s still got that newlywed glow, honestly. I’m left with the impression that he’s happy as can be with Gwen, and he talked a lot about their wedding and how great it was:

On Gwen planning the wedding: “At one point, I was saying in an interview, ‘We’re letting Gwen do whatever she wants for the wedding.’ And then some writer wrote, ‘Well, oh, look, he’s already a lazy deadbeat husband.’ But the truth is: I am. What do I know about that stuff? Of course it was her and her vision. And all I had to do was drink and kiss Gwen Stefani, I mean, my God. The greatest gig I’ve ever had.”

Their wedding had less than 20 guests. “That’s exactly what it needed to be.”

He’s been buying her lots of Christmas gifts: He said he tells her not to get him anything, but there ends up being “a pile of crap this tall” of gifts. “Literally today I got on the phone with the internet company because they thought there was credit card fraud because I kept going back to this website buying her more stuff. I’m getting her a bunch of stuff. I don’t know that she’s going to like any of it but it’s going to look good in the wrapping paper, you know?”

Gwen’s wedding vows: “The thing that got to me was she spoke about my [late] brother and my dad as if she had known them almost. She didn’t make it seem that way, but it felt that way as she was speaking about them. She said she wished they were there and what kind of men she thinks they must’ve been. Man, it hit me. Like, I couldn’t believe how hard it hit me. I felt like at this point, I’ve kind of gotten calloused. I guess I’m not because that absolutely slayed me. It’s hard to even remember what else she even said. I’ll never forget that feeling.”

[From People]

The quote about Gwen’s vows is actually from a People interview he did about a month ago, I just hadn’t seen that quote before now, that’s why I included it. If you watch the video (below), you can see how happy Blake seems. He really adores Gwen and he seems so proud of her and being married to her.

He also jokes about not inviting his work-wife, Adam Levine, to his wedding because Adam told Ellen that he doesn’t support Gwen and Blake’s marriage, because Gwen is cool and Blake isn’t.

Gwen Stefani & Blake Shelton ‘didn’t want a circus’ for their ‘intimate’ wedding

gwen blake people cover

I’ve seen the grumbling about Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s wedding, but I’m really here for these two dorks celebrating their love. Are they both kind of problematic in their own way? Yes. But I’ve always enjoyed their relationship and I genuinely hope that Blake and Gwen last forever. I think she loves being married and he’s finally understood that she’s not going to pull a Miranda Lambert on him. Anyway, Gwen is still posting wedding photos and photos of her Vera Wang wedding gown and party dress. They even gave some exclusive photos to People Magazine for this week’s cover story. I get why People went with “Country Wedding” and it is true that it was a wedding on Blake’s Oklahoma ranch. But Gwen is such a California Girl and she was representing some Cali style and vibe. I don’t know. I guess it appeals to People’s readership. You can read People’s full coverage here. Some highlights:

He wanted everything perfect for Gwen: Blake Shelton, 45, “wanted” their July 3 wedding on his Tishomingo, Oklahoma, ranch “to be perfect” for the No Doubt rocker, 51. “His love for her is so deep,” says the source. “Having the wedding at home was a way for their families — and Gwen — to be as comfortable as possible.”

Keeping it simple. As 40 friends and family cheered them on and longtime friend Carson Daly officiated, Shelton — who dressed up his usual blue jeans with a tuxedo jacket, vest and bow tie — and Stefani said “I do” in a backyard chapel on his ranch. “They purposely kept the wedding simple,” says a source close to Stefani, who looked stunning in a custom silk and tulle Vera Wang wedding gown and chapel-length veil embroidered with Shelton and her sons’ names. “They didn’t want a circus. In the end, they just wanted to have this moment with their loved ones.”

Everything was on Blake’s Oklahoma properties: With so many happy memories at the ranch, the source close to the couple says, “they thought it was the perfect place for their wedding.” At their wedding reception, which was also held on the ranch, Stefani and Shelton giddily cut into an ornate, five-tier wedding cake adorned with white frosting and a traditional bride-and-groom cake topper. Later in the night, a small group headed to Shelton’s second home in the area, on the shore of Lake Texoma in Kingston, Oklahoma, to continue the celebrations. The night ended with an elaborate fireworks show.

They felt married before this: “They’ve been really excited leading up to the big day,” says the source close to the couple. “Blake and Gwen were just so happy and looking forward to celebrating their relationship with their families. They already felt like husband and wife long before the wedding and have been operating as life partners. This day was a formality that was important to the whole family.”

She’s so happy with him: “Blake’s caring, take-charge attitude worked wonders for her,” a Stefani source says of the couple. “His compassion was great for her confidence, and the romance continued to develop. It’s a true love story.”

He loves her sons: “Blake loves the kids and had no problem adjusting to a new role as an extra dad,” says the music source. Adds another industry insider: “They each put the other first and appreciate each other. They are seamless as a family. She’s able to lean on Blake to be an extra dad. He’s a wonderful role model for Gwen’s sons. The kids love him and have a really special bond with Blake.”

[From People]

I’ve said for years now that Blake adores those boys and he’s already raising them like they’re his kids. The boys and Gwen seem to love the different life in Oklahoma. Blake adapted his property to be comfortable for Gwen and the boys to run around, play games, go fishing, ride go-karts and all of that. And then Blake wanted Gwen to just plan the wedding of her dreams, ranch-style and that’s what she did. I don’t know. I think they’re both so happy.

Gwen Stefani wore two custom Vera Wang gowns at her Oklahoma wedding

gwen blake wedding

As we discussed, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton got married over the holiday weekend. We knew that on Sunday/Monday, and then Monday evening, Gwen dropped some photos from her Oklahoma wedding! She looks so happy and so does Blake. I think and hope this one sticks for both of them. He was happy because they did it all on his big Oklahoma spread, and he even built a chapel on the property. She was happy because she got to plan her wedding just the way she wanted it, a classy/ranch affair with good food and their friends and families. Gwen’s wedding gown and reception dress were both Vera Wang:

Vera Wang made the two custom wedding dresses Gwen Stefani wore on her big day! Wang, 72, known for her signature bridal gowns, incorporated Stefani’s edgy personality into the garments.

The first, which Stefani wore while saying her “I dos” to Blake Shelton, was a custom lily white silk georgette gown with a sweetheart plunging neckline, cut away back, fitted bodice and high low hand tumbled tulle skirt.

She kept her hair simple for her big day, pulling her long blonde locks back under her white chapel length veil, which featured the hand embroidered names of Stefani, Shelton, and Stefani’s sons, Kingston James McGregor, 15, Zuma Nesta Rock, 12, and Apollo Bowie Flynn, 7.

A source previously told PEOPLE the boys would “have a large part” in Stefani and Shelton’s ceremony. They were a part of Stefani’s reception dress, too. A pair of hand sewn love birds symbolizing the couple highlighted hand pieced silk, crystal and sequin embroidered foliage around the waist and onto the skirt of the custom lily white Italian silk crepe and hand tumbled tulle strapless mini. Three baby love birds representing Stefani’s children were also on the ensemble.

Stefani paired the look with sky-high stiletto white cowboy boots by Le Silla and a shorter veil adorned with floral appliqués and a white bow. She accessorized with gold bangle bracelets, sparkling earrings, and a cross necklace.

[From People]

The dresses were very “Gwen.” I even enjoy her reception look with the cowboy boots. It looks like Blake got to drive the “just married” golf cart to the reception too. Judging from the aerial photos of Blake’s property, I think they set up tents (high-class tents) for the reception and party. I hope everyone was vaccinated and they had a great time. Oh, and the cake – the cake is big and fun. Oh, and Carson Daly officiated the wedding! Because of The Voice. But Adam Levine wasn’t there!!

Gwen Stefani & Blake Shelton got married this weekend on his Oklahoma ranch

blake gwen engaged

I’m choosing to be really happy for Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton. At the end of the day, they make sense together, they clearly adore each other, and he loves the hell out of her three kids. Blake finally proposed to Gwen last October, and then earlier this year, her first marriage was finally annulled by the Catholic Church. Everything was lining up for Gwen and Blake, and they decided to have a wedding at his Oklahoma ranch. He had a chapel built on the property years ago, and that was where he proposed to Gwen too. Page Six had aerial photos of the wedding – go here to see. There’s no confirmation on whether Blake got his wedding meal of chicken fingers and french fries.

There is no doubt this time that Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have tied the knot. The couple officially got hitched on Saturday, less than a month after the No Doubt singer sparked wedding rumors by wearing a diamond band on her left hand. The ceremony took place at Shelton’s Oklahoma ranch, where sources previously said he built a chapel with the intention of marrying Stefani there.

Stefani, 51, and Shelton, 45, began dating in 2015 after meeting as coaches on NBC’s “The Voice.” At the time, the rocker and country superstar were both newly divorced.

The couple announced their engagement in October 2020. Shelton quietly proposed to the “Rich Girl” singer with a huge, six- to nine-carat round solitaire diamond set on what appeared to be a platinum band.

[From Page Six]

I hope Gwen tells us some wedding details this week – Blake made it sound like she was having a lot of fun planning the wedding, and I can’t wait to see her dress, and the cake and everything else. I’m assuming the second wedding dress wasn’t John Galliano. Maybe Ralph Lauren with a flannel shirt?

PS… On Father’s Day, Gwen literally didn’t say one word about Gavin Rossdale and she posted this about Blake.
