Two weeks after announcing that she and her husband had separated, Gypsy Rose Blanchard has formally filed for divorce. According to People, the paperwork was filed at the Lafourche Parish Courthouse in Louisiana. Gypsy and Ryan Anderson got married in a small jailhouse ceremony in July 2022, and have been living together since her release from prison back in December. Gypsy originally announced their separation via Facebook in late March.

Last week, Anderson told The Daily Mail that their split “came out of the blue” and that the public would see it all unfold on their upcoming Lifetime docuseries, titled, Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup, which will air in June. Gypsy, for her part, got a nose job last week and has been seen holding hands with her ex-fiance, Ken Urker. People has a pretty interesting breakdown of what’s going on with GRB at the moment, which includes an interesting quote from a friend about what made Gyspy end the marriage and a soundbite from Urker’s mother, lol.

Confirmation of the filing: “The filing has been sent to the assigned Judge for review and to schedule any hearing dates if necessary,” Annette M. Fontana, Lafourche Parish Clerk of the Court, says.

GRB’s Facebook announcement: “People have been asking what is going on in my life. Unfortunately my husband and I are going through a separation and I moved in with my parents home down the bayou. I have the support of my family and friends to help guide me through this. I am learning to listen to my heart. Right now I need time to let myself find… who I am,” the post read.

Ryan “screamed” at her: Blanchard’s close friend and tattoo artist Nadiya Vizier, 22, told PEOPLE exclusively that the pair got into a heated argument the night Blanchard decided it was time to end her marriage. “He got in her face and screamed,” Vizier said. “Gypsy said that she was afraid he was going to hit her. He didn’t — but that happened in the past with her mother. So, her first instinct was to tighten up and be prepared. But she got to safety and called her lawyer, too. Ryan is a big guy, and she told me it was really scary.”

Chilling and tattooing with the ex: In the days after her separation, Blanchard was spotted with her ex-fiancé Ken Urker, who joined her in getting matching tattoos. The pair were engaged in the years before Blanchard married Anderson. “They’re very cool,” Urker’s mother Raina Williams previously told PEOPLE of the pair, after confirming they’d reconnected following Blanchard and Anderson’s split. “Ken is just being a supportive friend to her.”

Her dad thought she married too soon: “I wish she would have came home here and when her being on parole was over, live with him, just live with him, learn him,” Rod Blanchard said [in a 2023 interview with PEOPLE]. “She’s grown, and she was told what to do all her life. We wish she wouldn’t have, but like I told her, if it doesn’t work out, I’ll be there to help pick up the pieces. I really do hope it does work out. Ryan’s a great guy. He loves her for all the right reasons.”

GRB on deleting her socials: In March, Blanchard removed herself from the spotlight by deleting all of her public social media accounts. A source explained to PEOPLE at the time that she deleted her accounts “at the advisement of her parole officer, so she won’t get in trouble and go back to jail.”

I think Gypsy’s dad, Rod, spoke the most sense here. She and Ryan should have waited to get married, especially given her history. I can imagine the mindset behind someone with Gypsy’s history and circumstances wanting to rush down the aisle, but that was clearly a mistake. If the straw that broke the camel’s back was Ryan screaming at her, which triggered flashbacks to her mother’s physical and emotional abuse, then I can understand why she’d nope out of that marriage so abruptly. I also feel very confident saying that running back to her ex and getting a tattoo is not the right move here either. I know that there are mixed feelings out there about Gypsy, but my read on her is that she’s a very troubled woman who still has years of trauma to unpack and come to terms with through intensive therapy. In short, she needs to step back out of the spotlight, be single for a while, and take some time to heal and figure herself out.

Divorces Gypsy Rose Blanchard

Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s estranged husband Ryan on their split: ‘it came out of the blue’

Gypsy Rose Blanchard has had a busy few months since being released from prison in late December. She released a book, released a docuseries about her time in prison, cut her hair, separated from her husband of almost-two years, started hanging out with her ex-fiance again, got a nose job, and moved in with her father and stepmother in Louisiana. I don’t think anyone was really surprised to hear about any of these things. The woman was just released from prison for helping murder her abusive mother, who kept her in a different kind of prison. There’s going to be growing pains as she adjusts to all of the changes in her life. Well, one person who wasn’t prepared for some of these outcomes is Gypsy Rose’s estranged husband, Ryan Anderson. After the news broke last week, Ryan told The Daily Mail that the separation “came out of the blue” and that he wasn’t doing well with it. The following day, he gave an update via TikTok, thanking people for their support.

“Hey everybody, I just want to say thank y’all for the support and the nice messages I’ve been getting from people,” the 37-year-old said in a selfie video posted on a newly created TikTok page April 5. “I’m at a friend’s watching WrestleMania right now, it’s great. I’m enjoying it. I’ve been a wrestling nerd for a long time.”

Ryan then declared, “I need to shave.”

He reiterated his gratitude for his fans’ support and added, “I’m just living my life, guys.”

Gypsy had announced her split from Ryan in late March, three months after she was released from prison after serving seven years behind bars for her role in the 2015 murder of her mom Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard.

“Unfortunately my husband and I are going through a separation,” the 32-year-old wrote in a statement on her private Facebook account, per People, “and I moved in with my parents home down the bayou.”

Ryan, who had married Gypsy in 2022 while she was in prison, said the issue will be addressed on an upcoming TV project the two have been working on, which appears to be the upcoming Lifetime docuseries Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up, set to be released in June. “Y’all will see what really happened on Lifetime,” he said in his TikTok video. “We were filming a lot.”

Following the breakup, Gypsy has been spending time with her ex-fiancé Ken Urker, who said on TikTok April 3 that the two are “just hanging out as friends.” Ryan recently shared his thoughts on the matter.

“For me it just came out of the blue,” he told the Daily Mail April 4. “I haven’t spoken to her, so I just don’t know what’s going on. I’m at a loss. I’m really not doing well at all.”

In addition to the changes going on in her personal life, Gypsy is also undergoing a physical transformation, which she has said will also be shown on Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up. On April 5, she underwent plastic surgery on her nose.

[From E News]

I really don’t know how to feel about their relationship issues being filmed for a new Lifetime docuseries. It makes me raise my eyebrows a little bit. Are they really separated or is this just a stunt for the series? I feel like it could go either way and I don’t really have a great read on it just yet. If it was real and “out of the blue,” I’d be willing to bet that there were probably actual signs that Ryan either completely missed or totally misinterpreted. The truth shall be set free (via Lifetime). Gypsy’s nose job will be a storyline on the docuseries, as well.

Gypsy has been through so much and is finally a free woman who needs to figure out who she is and what she wants from life. Even with a solid support system in place, an adjustment period is normal. The support system and good mental healthcare is there to make sure someone adjusts in a healthy, non self-destructive way. Whatever Gypsy is going through right now, I hope she finds her peace and happiness. If Ryan really loves her, he’ll wish the same for her, too.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard is out of prison, has a docuseries and book: ‘I’m finally free’

Last week, Gypsy Rose Blanchard was released on parole after serving eight years in prison for her role in her mother, Dee Dee’s, murder. If you aren’t familiar with the story, Gypsy was a victim of Munchausen by proxy syndrome. At the time of her murder, Dee Dee had convinced everyone that a then-24-year-old Gypsy was a terminally ill teenager with the mind of a seven-year-old who suffered from leukemia, muscular dystrophy, and other fake diagnoses that she used to defraud people and charities. She was able to get away with it by constantly changing doctors, moving across state lines, and using Hurricane Katrina to explain away missing medical records. In 2015, Gypsy convinced a boyfriend to stab her mother. She pleaded guilty to second degree murder and, in 2016, was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Her ex-boyfriend received a life sentence. There’s a lot more details that you can read about here.

After Gypsy was released on December 28, she took to Instagram and TikTok to announce her freedom. In a series of posts, she released selfies and other images of her homecoming. Gypsy, who got married in 2022, also posted a video thanking people for their support and giving an update about what’s coming up next for her. The Lifetime docuseries, The Prison Confessions of Gyspy Rose Blanchard premieres on Friday, January 5. On January 9th, an ebook, titled, “Released: Conversations on the Eve of Freedom,” will drop.

“Hey everyone, this is Gypsy. I’m finally free,” the 32-year-old said in a video posted to TikTok and her official Instagram on Sunday. “I just wanted to send a quick video to thank everyone for the massive amount of support that I’ve been getting on social media, everyone has been really, really nice and supportive and I really appreciate that.”

She’s outside in the video, wearing a New Orleans Saints NFL Jersey, her brown hair down and makeup on her face.

“It’s nice to be home. I’m back home in Louisiana, enjoying a beautiful day outside and I’ve got a lot of great things happening really soon,” Blanchard continued. She’s been active on social media since her release, posting selfies and images from her homecoming celebration to her platforms, but Sunday marked the first time she spoke to the public in a video.

Blanchard told her followers about her upcoming Lifetime docuseries, The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, which begins on Jan. 5. She also mentioned her upcoming book, Released: Conversations on the Eve of Freedom, which she said she’s “super proud of.”

“It’s not a rehashing of everything that happened, it’s more of my reflection of everything that I’ve learned and experienced in the last 8.5 years,” she said. “Again, just thank you guys for all the support, and keep watching. Okay, bye,” a smiling Blanchard concluded the video.

[From People]

I haven’t watched any of the interviews, documentaries or series about the Blanchard case – I mainly read about it – and don’t really plan on reading her book or watching the Lifetime series. I’ll skim through articles about them, though, to see if I find anything of interest. I hope she doesn’t fall into a trap where she feels like her only option is to monetize what happened to her and it prevents her from moving forward. Her entire story is just so disturbing from start to finish. I cannot imagine what Gypsy has been through as a victim of emotional, medical, and physical abuse. I think all of the grown-ups in her life failed her. There were doctors with suspicions that never raised alarm bells. I also think on some level they failed Dee Dee, too, because that woman was an abusive monster who needed some serious help and to be held accountable via prison. I honestly hope that Gypsy received top-notch therapy in prison and put in the work to fully heal. I also hope that she has a great support system now and a good mental health plan in place.
