Last May, Jessica Biel made headlines when she suddenly cut her hair into a “f-ck ass bob.” A lot of people assumed that it was a “divorce bob” and started a countdown to a separation announcement. That separation announcement never happened, and people forgot all about the bob. Turns out the real reason for the drastic new hairdo was for her role as Chloe in Amazon Prime’s The Better Sister. (TBS is what Jessica was filming in both NYC and the Hamptons when Justin Timberlake’s world tour was ruined last July.)

All episodes of TBS dropped at the end of May. Jessica did a lengthy interview with Deadline recently where she talked about the series. Here are some highlights:

She relates to Chloe’s struggle to maintain the perfect public persona: That’s definitely one of the parallels that she and I share. I do know what that’s like. And there is a separation on some level of who you are at work and who you are at home, at least in my business. But I think that’s true for many businesses. I do relate to that side of her job and her life, and she has a lot more hard, extreme secrets that she’s keeping. But it doesn’t matter, I still understand that presenting in a certain way. But I also feel like everybody understands that now, with our social media lives and what we want to curate to show the world. We all do that on some level.

On using Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and Anna Wintour as inspirations: I started thinking about just those legacy New York families and those women who are effortless in that world, in those power media spaces, or fashion. Even somebody who is just born and bred in that world and knows how to carry themselves and is super smart, goes to the right school, has the great interesting job, has amazing, interesting academic friends and artist friends. In her mind that is who she needs to be. And somebody like Anna Wintour would be that person who is just New York royalty and the Kennedys are New York royalty, but they don’t have to try. That’s just who they are. They’re part of those families. They’re part of the fabric of that place. She is not part of that, so it’s a lot of effort. Those women do it effortlessly and she has learned over the years how to do it pretty seamlessly, but you scratch under the surface just a little bit. And that Ohio — nothing against Ohio — but that particular family in that particular Midwestern kind of feel, it’s right there under the surface that she’s just trying to push it away.

On if she will direct: I’ve thought about it. Directing an episode or a couple episodes in a show that we’re producing that I really understand would be a really good, more safe learning environment. But I also really want to make sure that I’m not just hiring myself instead of hiring the right person for the job. It has to be the right thing. I really have to understand how to do it properly. I really want to make sure that I feel confident, so maybe. I think when my kids are a little bit older, it’s something that maybe I can engage with a little bit more. I feel like I’m just in that hot spot of time where I’m already gone from my family quite a lot and my little one’s still really young and I know parents are gone all the time, and female directors are leaving their families all the time. And I think it’s amazing. And I hope that continues to happen, and I hope we have more female directors that feel confident to do that. I just haven’t found the right thing. It hasn’t been the right moment. I haven’t had enough confidence in myself, I think, to say, “I really understand. I’d do this better than anybody else.” You know?

Is a second season in the cards? Well, I would say that I loved the experience. I loved working with our entire cast and [showrunners] Olivia [Milch] and Regina [Corrado], they were amazing. They just made such a beautifully safe and warm set, as I know we’ve talked about before. But for me, it’s always like, “OK, where’s the level of believability? Where do we begin again? Do we have enough to say?”…So, I would put a producer hat on at this point and go, “OK, so what are the options here? How are we going to be believable? Of course, we love seeing these women together. Of course, it’s so fun. How does it work? And is it enough to be as good or better than the first season?” So, I would ask those technical questions, but it was a dream job.

I watched The Better Sister in two sittings this past weekend, and really enjoyed it. There were a few resolutions that felt forced (Nan’s and Bill’s), but it was a really fun ride. It’s murder mystery meets courtroom drama meets soap opera, and it’s the perfect summer binge-watch. The acting was also great. Jessica, Elizabeth Banks, and Lorraine Toussaint turned in particularly powerful performances. I can definitely see the Carolyn Bissette-Kennedy and Anna Wintour influence in how she portrays Chloe. What she says about directing is also interesting. It sounds like she’s basically saying, ”Nope, I’m good!” without entirely closing that door.

I haven’t read the book The Better Sister is based on, (though now I want to!) but I know that there is a pretty major change to what happens to one character at the end of the book. After learning this, I assumed that showrunners were absolutely leaving the door open for a second season! On one hand, I’m surprised that she’s kinda shutting it down, but I appreciate that they aren’t automatically going the Big Little Lies route because their second season was not great, lol. I just don’t know why they did *that* plot change if they weren’t planning on a second season.

Whenever I think about Justin Timberlake, I think about his infamous “This is going to ruin the tour” line during his DWI arrest. Can you believe that only went down last June? It feels like it was five years ago. Injuries aside, Justin’s tour is still happening, and he’ll be performing in Spain and Italy over the next few days. This past weekend, however, Justin did a show in the US. He performed at a music festival in Napa Valley. Since he was close(ish)-to-home (they’re based in Montana now), his wife, Jessica Biel, brought their two sons, Silas, 10, and Phineas, four, to watch their daddy perform. Jessica showed up in a 2003 Justified tour shirt with Justin’s face on it. Justin, in turn, surprised Jessica by wearing a t-shirt with a picture of her on it.

Justin Timberlake put down the “Suit & Tie” for something a little more Jessica Biel-centric at his latest gig — and she returned the favor! The 10-time Grammy winner, 44, surprised fans on Saturday, May 24, when he took the stage at the BottleRock Napa Valley festival in a checkered jacket and white button-up, before removing both to reveal a distressed white shirt featuring his wife’s face printed on the front.

Timberlake’s T-shirt featured an early ’00s photo of the actress wearing a white tank top and jeans. He paired the cut-up shirt with white pants, a chain necklace and some shades.

But he wasn’t the only one wearing his heart on his short sleeves!

Biel, 43, was apparently in the crowd cheering on her husband during his set, as seen in snaps he later shared on Instagram. She showed her support by wearing her own piece of throwback JT merch for the occasion.

In an image shared by Timberlake, the couple smiled together backstage — with the singer in his custom Biel T-shirt and his wife in a 2003 Justified World Tour T-shirt.

“We out here fan girling ????????,” Timberlake captioned the snap.

On her own Instagram Stories, Biel shared a cheeky response to Timberlake’s shirt: “He really outdid the doer,” she wrote.

Timberlake’s latest carousel post also included a video of the pair admiring their outfits, as he walked out of his dressing room to ask Biel, “Let me see your T-shirt, babe.”

“Oh, is that what you’re doing?” Timberlake asked, as the camera panned to Biel wearing her black Justified shirt with matching black jeans.

“That’s what I’m doing,” she responded, before Timberlake revealed his own shirt to her with a “bam.”

The pop star then confirmed that he and his team “made” the Biel shirt just for the show, as he asked one of their two children “who’s this” while showing off the top. Biel and Timberlake share sons Silas, 10, and Phineas, 4½.

Okay…thoughts on the t-shirts? When I first saw the pics, I thought it was cringe and that the video felt staged. But after thinking about it for a little while, I find it kind of adorable? I mean, it’s definitely worth all of the eye rolls, but the videos give it better context, especially when Justin asks the boys (who are off-screen), who’s on his shirt. I wish we’d heard their off-screen reactions too. It does seem like maybe Justin and Jessica are in a decent place, which is good for their kids. For their sake, I hope it stays that way because they do generally seem to just sort of tolerate one another. I showed the Instagram pics and videos to Mr. Rosie and his response was, ”Hey, even the most annoying people can do something cute once in a while.” Kinda like the whole broken clock is right twice a day theory. At the very least, they both know each other’s love language.

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel’s marriage has never made any sense to me. They don’t even seem to like each other, much less have any kind of passionate love for one another. Justin and Jessica’s marriage seems to be about one thing: Justin. Their wedding was all about Justin, Jessica’s pregnancies were all about Justin, and conversations about their marriage are all about Justin. Well, several months ago, Justin was arrested for a DWI. He ended up taking a plea, but not after creating a particularly toxic psychodrama over his arrest and his refusal to see the arrest as a wake-up call. Jessica was reportedly upset about his arrest, but obviously, she didn’t do anything. Now People Mag has an update about their marriage:

Justin Timberlake has “done everything he can” to “make up for” his DWI arrest for wife Jessica Biel. A source close to the family tells PEOPLE that since the “SexyBack” musician, 43, was arrested in Sag Harbor, New York for allegedly driving while intoxicated in June, the couple has “been very busy working and just focus on family time when they’re off.”

While Timberlake has been in the midst of his Forget Tomorrow World Tour, the Candy star, 42, has been filming “back to back” projects, including the forthcoming Amazon series The Better Sister. The two are also busy raising sons Silas, 9½, and Phineas, 4.

“They’ve been married for a long time,” adds the source. “They have to work on their marriage like most couples. Being working parents is never easy.”

While the insider says that Biel — who “enjoys privacy” — “was not happy about” her husband’s arrest, “they’re both relieved that it’s in the past.”

Timberlake’s case wrapped in mid-September with a plea deal as he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of driving while ability impaired. The musician will be required to pay a $500 fine and complete 25 hours of community service.

“They are both committed to staying married,” says the source. “Jess thinks he’s a wonderful dad. They’re a great team.”

I laughed at “They are both committed to staying married.” Not: they’re committed to each other. Not: they love each other and support each other. It’s almost like they have some kind of arrangement where Justin does whatever he wants and Jessica is just… committed to staying married, no matter what.

Jessica Biel has historically put up with a lot from Justin Timberlake. Even before their wedding, Justin was cheating on Jessica and she turned a blind eye to it or parlayed his infidelities into getting what she wanted. Then he turned the wedding into The Justin Timberlake Show. He did the same for Jessica’s first pregnancy. I’m wary of boxing Jessica into some “long suffering wife” role though – while she has suffered (as have we all), she also did the most to get the ring and she always done the most to keep the ring. So what if her husband just got arrested for drunk driving? At least he’s not cheating on her (again). So we keep getting all of these “how is Jessica reacting to JT’s DWI?” pieces. Long story short, she’s upset but it’s not like she’s actually telling him he needs rehab or anything.

Jessica Biel has been “extremely upset” following husband Justin Timberlake’s DWI arrest, multiple sources tell Us Weekly.

“Jessica is extremely upset. She was shocked to hear the news and had no idea as she was working,” an insider exclusively tells Us. “She was really worried about him.”

Biel, 42, who has not publicly addressed Timberlake’s arrest, is currently filming The Better Sister in New York City. The actress has been married to Timberlake since 2012 and they share sons Silas, 9, and Phineas, 3. Per the source, Timberlake told Biel that “he was barely drinking.”

“She always gives Justin the benefit of the doubt,” the insider adds.

A second source, meanwhile, tells Us that Timberlake was “taking a quick break” from his Forget Tomorrow World Tour.

“Justin was at dinner with friends and … [and he] wanted to enjoy some down time and have fun,” the insider says. “He and his friends didn’t even really drink that much so they were shocked he was pulled over.”

According to the source, Timberlake has not really “been drinking” while touring. “[He’s] been really healthy with the ongoing tour,” the insider notes.

Timberlake told Biel that “he was barely drinking.” Just my opinion: Justin is either an alcoholic or he’s in profound denial about his social drinking, and in either case, no one believes that he was “barely drinking.” The whole reason the cop pulled him over was because he blew through a stop sign and he was driving on the wrong side of the road. That’s not “oh, I just nursed one beer the whole night.” We have enough evidence that Justin is a habitual sloppy drunk. Now, whether his wife sees him enough to understand that, I don’t know.

Meanwhile, TMZ has quickly become Timberlake Media Zone with all of their men’s rights activism on Justin’s behalf. TMZ’s sources swear that JT has never had a documented problem with alcohol and he will not check into rehab or do any kind of 12-step program or anything like that. Page Six’s sources confirm that Justin’s tour will continue without any pauses or cancelations too. Some people theorized that a DWI might be a convenient excuse to cancel a tour with lackluster ticket sales. But no, the “world tour” will limp on. Drunkenly stumble on.

Between Kendrick Lamar’s Pop Out concert and the schadenfreude around Justin Timberlake’s DUI arrest, this has been a great week for haters. I have barely seen anyone defending Justin Timberlake. That man has made so many enemies and pissed off so many people for so many years, and it’s sort of horribly glorious to see his fall from “grace.” Monday night, Timberlake was arrested for a couple of traffic violations and for driving drunk, although he refused the Breathalyzer. His mugshot told the tale though, as did all of the reporting of how Justin was “wasted” and drinking other people’s cocktails at the bar. Meanwhile, Justin was partying while his wife Jessica Biel works in Manhattan. She’s currently filming a Prime Video series called The Better Sister, and the production is using locations around New York. (Sidenote: this is probably why she has a bob now, although some people think it’s a separation bob.) The last thing Biel needed was her husband drunk-driving in Sag Harbor. Still, Biel is sticking with him:

Jessica Biel is staying focused on her work after her husband’s arrest. On Tuesday, June 18, the actress, 42, was seen on the set of her new Prime Video series, The Better Sister, hours after her husband Justin Timberlake, 43, was arrested for driving while intoxicated or impaired.

A source tells PEOPLE that Timberlake’s arrest was a “distraction” for the actress and that “she’s not happy” about it. “She had to film yesterday. She doesn’t like any attention on the family, especially not negative,” they add.

The source continues that Biel “loves” the “Cry Me a River” singer and “will always be by his side.”

“He’s a great dad and husband,” the source says.

A source who saw her on set says that despite looking “tired,” Biel “seemed very focused on filming.” The source adds, “The cast and crew have nothing but positive things to say about her. You can tell she’s excited about working.”

“He’s a great dad and husband.” No, he’s not?? What did we expect though? Jessica isn’t leaving him. She didn’t leave him in 2019 when he was drunk as hell and getting handsy with his costar in New Orleans. I’ve never really understood their marriage, but it feels like they mostly live separate lives anyway. Still, it must be embarrassing as hell for her that her husband is such a drunken buffoon.

You know how I said that Justin has very few supporters right now? Well, one of them is Gayle King, who said: “Justin Timberlake is a really, really great guy. Listen, this is clearly a mistake — I bet nobody knows it more than he. He’s not an irresponsible person, he’s not reckless, he’s not careless. Clearly this is not a good thing but he knows that.” Driving drunk IS reckless and careless. Speaking as someone on the other side of this… it’s a really horrible look for a man his age to drink to excess in public and then get behind the wheel. All of JT’s decisions were careless and reckless here.

Every so often, I get a hankering to cut my hair above my shoulders. I try to ignore these thoughts for a few months before inevitably giving in just to see what it looks like. I then almost always immediately regret it and spent two years growing it out. I went through these motions back in March, so since then, I’ve been in the “I made a terrible mistake” part of the cycle. Apparently, when it comes to my hair, I am a goldfish.

Anyway, all of that preamble was to talk about Jessica Biel’s new haircut. Jessica, who has rocked a longer hairdo with waves for a while now, is trying to set a new trend. Over the weekend, she got a summer haircut: a bob. Oh, wait, I’m sorry. Jessica didn’t just get any old bob. No, she got a self-described “f–ck ass bob.” I have no idea what that means because it just looks like the “mom bob” cut that a lot of celebrities like, Jennifer Garner and Jennifer Love Hewitt, got last year. Anyway, Jessica got a bob and posted before-and-after pictures to her Instagram.

Jessica Biel said goodbye to long hair. The actress shocked her fans when she debuted an ear-length bob in a clip posted to Instagram on Saturday.

She shared a before and after, showing herself tugging on her long locks as she rocked an oversized T-shirt while sitting on a dressing room chair. Biel, 42, then revealed her fresh cut, as she also changed into a chic look, consisting of a gray blazer, white shirt and gold chained necklace.

“Brought back the f–k ass Bob ????????‍♀️,” she captioned the video. The mom of two seemingly left her husband, Justin Timberlake, speechless as he simply commented, “????????????????????.”

Meanwhile, some of Biel’s followers were convinced her new look was inspired by her “7th Heaven” character Mary Camden’s short haircut.

“Oh I remember when Mary Camden had this cut ????????????,” one fan commented. The iconic TV series aired from 1996 to 2007.

Others gushed over Biel’s new look, with one writing she “knows how to bring sexy back.”

“You‘re a beauty – love your new hair and your old – you look great,” another added.

“SO CHIC LOVE! ????,” a third chimed in

“Yes and ABSOLUTELY YES!” a fourth noted.

Biel also took to her Story to share the aftermath of her cut as she showed loads of hair on the bathroom floor. The “Next” star seemingly waited to undergo this major transformation until after the 2024 Met Gala on May 6. She walked the red carpet wearing a plunging V-neckline pink dress with feathers and styled her hair down with light waves.

She looks…fine? It also looks like she did some lighter highlights as well. Yeah, it looks okay, but I think it makes her look older. I’m not saying that’s good or bad, that’s just my opinion. She definitely needed to change it up from that ratty imitation beach hair look that she was doing beforehand, though. I was nearly scandalized by how terrible her hair looked at the Met Gala. I think she’d look really good with shoulder-length hair and long layers, actually.

Meanwhile, over on the Artist Formerly Known as Twitter, there’s lots of comments and speculation about the reasoning behind Jessica’s haircut. Basically, they’re calling it a “divorce bob” and have a countdown going for a separation announcement coming soon. I mean, I’m not going to write that assessment off whatsoever, even if JT did comment with a bunch of fire and heart-eye emojis. We’ll find out soon enough if Jessica said bye bye bye to her long hair because she doesn’t want to be a player in Justin’s game for two anymore. But you know what? Unlike Jessica, I refer to my haircut every single day as “this f-cking ass bob” so if she’s happy, then power to her. Live your f-ck ass bob truth, girl.

Kendall Jenner went for a vintage look at this year’s Met Gala. This is an archival Givenchy from 1999, meaning Alexander McQueen designed it. A lot of women had designers pull archived pieces and then based something new on those vintage looks. Not Kendall. I’ll say this though – I doubt Givenchy had to make any alterations, I’m sure she just fit into the archive look. That being said, if you’re going to the trouble of asking Givenchy for an archived piece, surely you would want something better than this??

Sydney Sweeney in Miu Miu. SO BAD. I hope that’s a wig. I hope this is just a phase.

I’ll give Jessica Biel some credit: her styling was ass, her Tamara Ralph gown looked like she was being attacked by birds, but at least she wore a lovely color.

Naomi Campbell also wore a lovely color – this is Burberry. To call this on-theme would probably be a reach, but she’s Naomi. She just wanted to wear a great dress and she did.

Alia Bhatt wore this gorgeous Sabyasachi saree. I loved this!
