Pete Davidson’s dumbest tattoos included ‘the Tootsie Pop owl smoking a blunt’

Back in 2020, Pete Davidson announced that he had begun the long process of removing almost all of his tattoos. He had over 100 of them and it would take more than three hours in the makeup chair to cover them all up. At one point, he even had a tattoo artist as a part of his entourage and you can tell he took advantage of that. While there were definitely some sweet, meaningful ones, like tributes to his late father, who passed away on 9/11, and already-removed nods to former girlfriends like Kim Kardashian (ugh, that shoulder brand) and Ariana Grande, there were definitely a lot of seemingly super random ones, like the Mars Attacks alien and a giant shark.

Pete is currently promoting his latest movie, the animated Dogman, which is based on the popular graphic novel series. He plays Petey the Cat. He’s also going to be part of the SNL 50 three hour special that airs on February 16th. Pete recently stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers. Seth brought up his tattoo removal and Pete explained how it was done. He then shared that he wouldn’t miss them at all, especially because a lot of them were dumb and made before he got sober. And speaking of, according to Pete, his “dumbest” tattoos include a “collection of cartoons smoking blunts.”

Pete Davidson is happy to be saying goodbye to his “dumbest” tattoos. During a Thursday, Feb. 6 appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the Dog Man actor, 31, admitted that most of the designs on his body will not be missed as he works to have his tattoos removed.

“You also have sort of famously said that you’re gonna get rid of your tattoos, which is not an easy thing to do” the television show host, 51, said to his guest.

Davidson agreed, saying all his ink should be gone by the time he’s 40. In a 2021 interview with PEOPLE, the comedian said he hoped his tattoos would be gone before he hit 30.

“When I’m 40, it’ll all be gone,” the Saturday Night Live star said. “Like the chest and back.”

Meyers asked for more details on the removal process, noting that laser technicians “burn it off” over “seven visits” for each design.

“It’s at least seven visits,” Davidson clarified. “And if it’s black and white it’s a little easier. But if it’s a color tattoo, it takes forever.”

Next, Meyers asked if there were any tattoos that the Bodies Bodies Bodies actor was “happiest to not have to look at again.”

For Davidson, that was “all of them.”

“Well, I made a lot of those decisions before rehab,” he joked. “So I got the dumbest tattoos.”

If there had to be one in particular, Davidson said his “collection of cartoons smoking blunts” would have to take the cake.

His collection included “a Muppet smoking a blunt” and “the Tootsie Pop owl smoking a blunt.”

“Which is weird ‘cause I wasn’t even old enough to be around for that cartoon, that commercial,” Davidson told Meyers. “Yeah, it’s not great.”

[From People]

Oh goodness, he had tattoos of both a Muppet and the Tootsie Pop owl smoking blunts? That is so funny. I could see how a stoned Pete would find cartoon characters with blunts to be a good idea, and it’s easy to indulge those impulses when you’re regularly rolling with a tattoo artist. That said, so many people get ink that they regret. Only, his regretful body art reportedly cost him around $200,000.

I love that Pete’s able to talk about his difficulties in a relatable way and also poke fun at himself for the sillier things, like unfortunate tattoo choices. It really is so nice to see Pete doing so well and hopefully living his best life. I’m rooting for him.

Photo note by CB: Pete was at the Super Bowl with… Kevin Costner? It’s unclear why he was seated next to Costner, but the were seen at a pregame party together on February 8th. Pete explained to Seth Meyers that he’s friends with The Philadelphia Eagles’ security head, Dom, and that he was definitely rooting for the Eagles. Good.

Tom Holland and Zendaya got matching tattoos ahead of their engagement

Like most of you, I was delighted to hear the news that Zendaya and Tom Holland got engaged over the holidays. I love those two and wish them nothing but the absolute best. It’s been a nice palate cleanser to see all of the video clips people have put together of the two of them throughout the years. I will never get tired of watching clips of Tom’s Umbrella dance from Lip Sync Battle. Well, the adorableness doesn’t stop there. Tom and Zendaya also got matching tattoos! A tattoo artist confirmed that T&Z visited her tattoo parlor in Boston on the night before Thanksgiving to get ink of each other’s initials.

Tom Holland and Zendaya made their mark on one another before getting engaged. The celebrity couple, both 28, got matching tattoos of each other’s initials Nov. 27 at Boston Tattoo Company on Newbury Street, and the artist who did the custom designs had nothing but wonderful things to say about the pair.

“They were lovely to meet and it was a lot of fun!” Lily Jarnryd tells PEOPLE exclusively.

Zendaya got a small “t” tattoo just underneath her armpit, while her fiancé went with an equally discreet “z” on top of his ribcage.

The pair, who first starred together in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, went public with their relationship in 2021. On Jan. 6, PEOPLE confirmed Holland and the Dune: Part Two actress were engaged. TMZ was first to report the news, adding that the Uncharted actor proposed at the home of one of Zendaya’s family members between the Christmas and New Year holidays.

The Challengers star cheekily debuted her engagement while walking the red carpet at the 2025 Golden Globes, where she was nominated for best performance by a female actor in a motion picture musical or comedy. At the event, she stunned in a strapless Louis Vuitton custom burnt orange satin dress paired with matching pointed-toe pumps. Zendaya accessorized with what appeared to be a 5.02-carat East-West Cushion Diamond Button Back Ring from Jessica McCormack, listed in the engagement section on the jewelry brand’s website, on her ring finger.

“He’s always been crazy about her. He always knew she was the one. They have something very special,” a source told PEOPLE of Holland proposing to the Euphoria star.

“Tom’s always had this sweet way of letting the world know that Zendaya is his. Now, it’s official — she really is!” the insider added.

The couple’s Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: No Way Home costar Marisa Tomei also congratulated them, writing “Congrats you two, xoxo ????,” over a photo of Holland and Zendaya at one of the film’s premieres on her Instagram Stories.

Speaking to GQ in November 2021, Holland and Zendaya explained why they keep their relationship out of the spotlight.

“One of the downsides of our fame is that privacy isn’t really in our control anymore, and a moment that you think is between two people that love each other very much is now a moment that is shared with the entire world,” Holland said.

“The equal sentiment [we both share] is just that when you really love and care about somebody, some moments or things, you wish were your own,” Zendaya added.

[From People]

All together now: Awwwwwww!!! This is really sweet and I love that they got small, subtle tattoos with just their first initials rather than something big and elaborate. It fits their lowkey vibes. There’s a picture from the Golden Globes that gives us a peak of Zendaya’s “T” tattoo under her armpit, on her upper left rib cage. It is discreet. I wouldn’t have noticed it if it hadn’t been pointed out to me. Speaking of their lowkey vibes, I totally understand their reasoning for keeping their relationship private and having their own moments without the public getting all up in their business. I get the feeling that they’re going to have a private, traditional wedding sometime next year that we won’t find out about until we see pictures of Zendaya’s sure to be gorgeous dress on an exclusive cover of People.

John Mulaney Pete Davidson SNL Tattoos

Pete Davidson showed off his tattoo removal on an SNL appearance

On Saturday, John Mulaney hosted the funniest episode of Saturday Night Live that I’ve seen in a while. I think the last one I enjoyed this much was the one Ryan Gosling hosted in September 2023, and that was because Gosling looked like he was having the time of his life at Studio 8H.

This was Mulaney’s sixth time hosting SNL. Since his first time hosting in 2018, Mulaney has had a recurring series of musical sketches. The first one was the hilarious “Diner Lobster.” In the first four sketches of the series, Pete Davidson played a character whose actions were the catalyst for the ensemble breaking into parody songs. He did not appear in the fifth one because he was away shooting a movie, but he was back for number six. Speaking of, Pete has been in the process of removing his tattoos because he wanted to focus more on acting and was tired of having to sit in the makeup chair for an extra three hours just to have his tats covered up. Last week, we got a glimpse of Pete’s new look thanks to a photo he took with Machine Gun Kelly at an event in LA. This weekend, we got an even better look at his bare arms during his appearance in “Port Authority Duane Reade.”

A year after hosting Saturday Night Live, Pete Davidson made a surprise return to help his friend and host John Mulaney poke fun at…the Port Authority Duane Reade. (If you know Diner Lobster, you know where we’re going with us.)

“Welcome to the Duane Reade inside the Port Authority bus terminal,” a behind-the-counter Mulaney said to Davidson and SNL’s Andrew Dismukes. “May I offer you a flu shot?”

Davidson—wearing a t-shirt that showed off his now-almost-bare arms following his tattoo removal—passed on the vaccine but admitted he needed a few things before he and Dismukes catch a bus to Boston.

“Our system is down right now,” Mulaney revealed, “so we are only accepting cash or sex.”

Thankfully, Davidson said had change to pay for, um, “that jug of milk in the little fridge…I’ll take that.”

Yes, that’s he wanted. Even Mulaney was appalled.

“I’m sorry,” the host replied. “You mean the gallon of milk surrounded by cans of twisted iced tea in the fridge that’s hotter than the rest of the store?”

Davidson insisted it would be OK—”I don’t want to make a separate stop at the supermarket in Boston”—and while he thought the jug said organic, well, it actually read organ.

“What’s the big deal?” he asked. “Milk is milk, right?”

Wrong.

Cue a family of possums (that would be Kenan Thompson and Ego Nwodim) singing “Milk From My Wife” to the tune of “The Circle of Life.”

“From the moment she gave birth in a backpack, her dozen nipples began to excrete,” Thompson belted out. “But there was more to see than can ever unsee. A plastic jug filled with goop from her teat. It’s milk from my wife and it feeds a soul!”

From there, Mulaney, Davidson and Dismukes went on to poke fun at the Timothée Chalamet lookalike contest, Mayor Eric Adams and why NYC keeps shampoo under lock and key.

For Davidson, the 8-minute cameo marked a rare public outing as he’s temporarily stepped out of the spotlight. Before SNL, he was most recently seen out alongside pal Machine Gun Kelly Oct. 23 in Los Angeles, where he debuted the progress of his jaw-dropping tattoo removal, a stark difference from his previous appearance in which his arms were filled with ink.

[From E! News]

Nothing will ever be as funny as the original Diner Lobster sketch but I thought “Port Authority Duane Reade” was pretty fun. It’s weird to see Pete without all of the tattoos but he looks really good in general! While watching the episode, I noticed how healthy both Pete and John look. It’s not the lack of tattoos. They both just look healthier and happier, and I hope they are both in better places now.

We almost never stay up to watch SNL live, but our kids were at their grandparents’ house on Saturday and the extra hour of sleep from the end of daylight savings time inspired us to stay up to watch Vice President Harris make her cameo. We ended up watching almost all of it! We stopped right before Chappell Roan’s second song because we are old and just couldn’t stay awake any longer, lol. I especially loved “What’s That Name” which had a cameo by Senator Tim Kaine. That was hilarious.

If you’re interested in watching it, here’s “Port Authority Duane Reade” sketch:

Brooke Shields Parenthood Tattoos

Brooke Shields and her daughter Grier got matching tattoos for Mother’s Day

Happy (belated) Mother’s Day to those who celebrate! I spent mine gathering a urine sample from my fur baby, My Girl, which was immediately followed by a stranger asking if she was expecting. I responded as kindly as I could, “Not pregnant, just fat.” Brooke Shields and her younger daughter, Grier Henchy, had a way cooler, certainly more sanitized activity to mark the day: they got matching tattoos. The sketch shows a woman’s feet in high heels standing next to little girl feet in the same adult-sized heels. Scott Campbell did the inking for Brooke and Grier, and later they both appeared on his Stupid Things for Love podcast to explain the meaning behind the design:

Brooke Shields and her 18-year-old daughter, Grier Henchy, celebrated Mother’s Day 2024 — and her newfound adulthood — by getting matching tattoos with an especially sweet meaning.

Tattoo artist Scott Campbell shared photos of the glamorous mom and daughter showing off their new ink on Instagram Sunday, along with a closeup of their matching high-heel tattoos.

Their design, which is sketched in black-and-white, features a child standing in too-big heels while standing toe-to-toe with her mom, who is wearing the same style of shoes.

Campbell — who hosts the “Stupid Things for Love” podcast — interviewed Shields and Henchy for a special Mother’s Day episode on Sunday, and the “Mother of the Bride” star, 58, shared the reasoning behind their shoe-themed tats.

“When she was still little, she would always just wear my shoes, no matter how teeny she was,” the actress said of her daughter, adding, “her whole foot would fit into the toe box.”

The star said “it was the cutest thing,” explaining how Grier would “come out and have breakfast in her diaper and high heels, and then the night gown and high heels.”

“The tattoo you’re getting is so poetic of like, her growing into your shoes and wanting to be a model,” Campbell shared during the episode.

It seems like Grier has always admired her mother’s style, with the teen wearing Shields’ old dresses on several occasions over the past year.

The budding model isn’t the only one who has a matching tattoo with mom.

Grier’s big sister, Rowan Henchy, 20, showed off a tiny ladybug tat on her ankle while posing with Shields on the “Mother of the Bride” red carpet last week, while the “Pretty Baby” star had the same design inked on her wrist.

“When my older daughter graduated from high school that was what she wanted, was to get a tattoo with me,” Shields shared during her podcast interview.

[From Page Six]

If ever I were to get a tattoo, I would want to do it like Brooke and Grier; a very specific design that evokes a personal memory. I also think it says a lot about how close both girls are with their mother, that as teenagers they’d request to get matching tattoos. I have a fun mom, but the thought of us getting tattoos together makes me laugh out loud. Between my squeamish-verging-on-histrionic behavior every time I need to get a shot or give blood, and my mother’s intense-approaching-dangerous-ticklishness every time she gets a pedicure, we’d be a menace to the parlor. We’d do damage to ourselves, the equipment, and other patrons.

In other Brooke Shields news — no, not the results of her run for president of Actors’ Equity, those won’t come until May 23 — she and Benjamin Bratt sat down with Entertainment Weekly to promote their Netflix movie, Mother of the Bride, and Brooke dropped some old tea on attending Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes’ wedding in 2006. If you recall, it was on the heels of Cruise (who’s never given birth) publicly criticizing Brooke for taking medication to treat her postpartum depression. (Weird fact: Grier Henchy and Suri Cruise were born on the same day that year.) Cruise eventually apologized and then invited Brooke to the wedding, and that’s where her comments start:

“Of course, I was gonna say yes to that,” Shields says in a video. “I was like, ‘Yes. I will — as long as I’m not the something old!’”

According to Shields, Holmes then made a request. “She goes, ‘Oh, will you?’ And I said, ‘What? Bring myself as the something old?’”

“I had to, like, hunt antique places,” Shields said, “to find the perfect, you know, gift to give her.”

Shields eventually found something appropriate — and Victorian.

“It was a little compact that you put a ring…,” Shields said. “So you’re supposed to be able to look at their reflection in it and have it around their finger.”

She added, “It was really beautiful.”

What ended up not being so beautiful was the relationship between the bride and groom. They infamously split in June 2012.

[From Entertainment Weekly]

Ok, EW’s own transcript is wonky here, cause in the video Brooke clearly says that Katie clarifies, “Will you bring the something old?” Which is crazy to ask of a relative stranger, no? But what’s absolutely killing me here is EW’s blunt transition to Cruise and Holmes splitting. No notes.

Lady Gaga Tattoos Tony Bennett

Lady Gaga has a tattoo that’s a sketch Tony Bennett drew for her

Embed from Getty Images

When news broke that Tony Bennett had passed away one of my first thoughts was, “Gaga must be devastated.” Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett met in 2011 when she was in her Born This Way era (still her best solo album, in my opinion). By 2014 she appeared on his Duets series and they recorded a jazz album together, Cheek to Cheek. The fondness between them was apparent from the get-go. I think Bennett saw past all the outfits and hairdos and just thought, “the kid can sing!” And it seemed that Gaga, for her part, revered Bennett and always treated him with kindness. I imagine she feels like she’s lost a family member, which is why I wasn’t surprised to see this sweet little piece from People on how she’ll always remember him:

Lady Gaga will always have a permanent reminder of the late Tony Bennett.

In 2014, the pop star, 37, had the legendary “I Left My Heart in San Francisco” singer–who died at age 96 on Friday–sketch her one of her tattoos.

“I asked Tony to draw me a trumpet, and he sketched me Miles Davis’ trumpet,” Gaga told PEOPLE that year. “Then I had it tattooed with his last name, Benedetto, underneath. Just so I would always remember this time together.”

Gaga and Bennett–who is remembered in this week’s PEOPLE cover story, on newsstands Friday–first bonded in 2011 at a charity gala where she sang the standard “Orange Colored Sky.”

“Tony heard me sing it, and he asked to meet me,” Gaga said in 2014. “He said, ‘Do you want to do a jazz album together?’ I said, ‘Of course I do!’ We were fast friends.”

Their 2014 jazz album, Cheek to Cheek, debuted at No. 1, making Bennett, at 88, the oldest artist to top the charts. Even after Bennett was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2016, he went on to release a second jazz album with Gaga, titled Love for Sale, in 2021.

In August of that year, Bennett played his final two sold-out shows with Gaga at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. “My time with Tony,” Gaga said at the time, “has changed me forever.”

[From People]

In addition to singing, Bennett was also an accomplished fine artist (he actually wanted to be a painter before he turned to music), so it’s all the more fitting that Gaga’s hand drawn trumpet tattoo is a marriage of both his talents. For all of the crazy Lady Gaga has thrown out into the world–and it’s a lot, I won’t deny that–I think her true character comes through in the way she interacts with the people she adores. We saw this last year when she took care of Liza Minnelli at the Oscars. The tenderness was also there when she and Bennett recorded Love for Sale in 2021, especially when they played his final two shows in New York that year. She knew his disease was progressing, and she put the focus on him. That’s a class act, Lady.

Ireland Baldwin: I did not get a tattoo of Kendall Jenner

avalon-0537120445

Ireland Baldwin got a new tattoo recently. Like most folks, she was pretty excited about her new work, so she couldn’t wait to post it to Instagram and thank the tattoo artist responsible for giving it to her, Parker B. of Midnight Collective in Portland. And I can see why, it’s a fairly detailed image. The work’s good. The colors are vibrant. It’s playful. Is there anything else you see in this?

That’s a seductively posing Kendall Jenner tossing a miniature man away. At least that’s what the internet saw. Several commenters asked Ireland why Kendall now adorned her bicep. Only Ireland says it isn’t Kendall, not intentionally. She posted a follow up on her Instagram stories clarifying that as beautiful as she thinks Kendall is, the art is taken from an illustration from the 1960s.

Fans believe the tattoo strongly resembles Kendall Jenner and when Ireland posted her new ink online, she received a lot of questions about the tat.

“My tattoo isn’t Kendall Jenner,” Ireland posted on her Instagram Story. “She’s beautiful tho so I’ll take it…But it’s actually an illustration that was done in the ’60s.”

[From Just Jared]

I do think the Kendall resemblance is a coincidence, unless the tattooist had Kendall on her mind when she was inking Ireland. But I can see where people are getting a Kendall vibe from the face. (I am trying very hard to avoid mentioning the vacant eyes right now.) I wonder if this will change how Ireland sees it. Will the face morphs to only seeing Kendall when she looks at it? Hopefully Ireland meant it when she said she was flattered by the comparison.

Apparently not everyone was thrilled with the large new art. In addition to the KenJen conspiracists, Ireland had to put up with those who didn’t care for her decision to put such a big, colorful piece of work on her arm. Some told her she was no longer “hot” because of it. Others found some other way to tell her she lost her appeal because of her tattoos. Whether I care for this particular art or not, I’m not a fan of policing women like this. Threatening women by telling them they won’t be considered attractive with the choices they make with their body is shameful.

Of course, Ireland’s father, Alec Baldwin, chimed in as he usually does on her Instagrams. And with his usual response to her risqué comment, “No!”

Jada Pinkett Smith Tattoos

Jada Pinkett Smith is building a tattoo sleeve: ‘tomorrow is not promised’

Jada Pinkett Smith has been taking some risks these last few weeks. Last month, after a years long battle with alopecia, Jada with shaved off all of her hair. She did it with encouragement from her daughter Willow and the result was stunning. Now Jada is taking another step in her evolution by beginning a tattoo sleeve on her arm. Jada took to Instagram to show off her new forearm tattoo, a tribute to the divine mother goddess. Jada stated that she had wanted to start a sleeve when she was 60 but that “tomorrow is not promised.” In this case Jada is carpe diem-ing the damn day by repping the divine feminine. Several celebrities, such as Jay Shetty and Priyanka Chopra, left positive comments. Below are a few more details via E! Online:

“I always said I would get a sleeve at 60 but tomorrow is not promised,” Jada wrote. “Soooo … I’m starting to build my sleeve now! Repp’n the Divine Feminine journey within and without. [sparkle emoji] Jai Ma [sparkle emoji] #MataSita #Allat #Oshun #QuanYin.”

A number of celebrities shared support in the comments section, including Priyanka Chopra, who wrote, “Beautiful. Jai mata di.” Additionally, DJ Jazzy Jeff, who recorded music with Jada’s husband Will Smith as DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, posted six fire emojis.

Jahnavi Harrison, who released a joint EP called Rise with Jada’s daughter Willow Smith in 2020, commented, “Oh wow. So so so so beautiful Jada!!! I can’t wait to see her in person!!” Plus, Jay Shetty, an author and podcast host who has appeared on Jada’s chat series Red Table Talk, responded, “So Dope and divine,” adding a fire emoji.

The star’s latest tattoo is an extension of the three-generational lotus artwork she got inked with Willow and mom Adrienne Banfield during a May episode of Red Table Talk.

“Look what we did!!!!,” Jada captioned her Instagram post at the time, giving a shout-out to artist Doctor Woo. “Thank you @_dr_woo_ for your patience and generosity of your craft and spirit [sparkle emoji] Now I want a sleeve!!!!”

[From E! Online]

I love everything about this tattoo. I am not sure if it is considered cultural appropriation since it specifically depicts a Hindu goddess, but several Indian influencers and celebrities were celebrating it. As someone who has studied spiritual modalities from across the world, I too, have wanted to create a tattoo sleeve on my left arm, but after I get my arms toned. I got too much hanging flesh for it to look good on me. I love this sort of seize the day attitude Jada is adopting. She is right, tomorrow is not promised so why put off for tomorrow what you can do today? I also like the fact that Jada is planning to tattoo several different goddesses on her sleeve. I personally love this idea since I am someone who researches goddess mythologies. I hope to remind women of their power and who they are. I am glad to see other high profile women like Jada and Beyoncé doing the same. It is time for the divine feminine to retake her place. In the meantime, I am looking forward to seeing what else Jada does, but for now I will admire how beautiful she looks with that bald head.
