Y’all know I’m not any kind of fan or defender of Amy Schumer, but I was totally fine (and even appreciative) of what Amy did and said around the Hilaria Baldwin situation. Amy threw the first brick of the whole “Hilaria Baldwin is pretending to be Spanish” controversy. Back in 2020, Amy publicly mocked Hilaria’s weird baby-influencer vibes in a video. Hilaria responded by making her own video in which she sounded like what she is: an American Karen, with no trace of Spanish or pan-Latin-American accent work. That video, made in response to Amy Schumer, was what got people into investigation mode about Hilaria’s background, and that’s when we discovered the years of lies, if not outright fraud. Amy later said, re: Hilaria, that “you can’t just pretend you’re from Spain.” Schumer also called her a “sociopath” in 2023. Well, Hilaria has written a book and she takes aim at a celebrity… and people think she’s talking about Amy Schumer.

Is Amy Schumer the mystery celebrity Hilaria Baldwin speaks out about in her new book? In her wide-ranging new book Manual Not Included, out now, Hilaria, 41, writes about a “famous person, someone I’ve never met, who said nasty and untrue things about me and my family,” including husband Alec Baldwin.

Though she does not mention Schumer, 43, by name, Hilaria writes about a celebrity mentioning her and her family in a “show” and that “she even tried to bait me and Alec via Instagram.”

“We didn’t engage with her and I guess I am proud of that,” she writes. “It made me mad at the system, but here, in this book, is where I can talk about it. I don’t need to use her name and I don’t want any problems with her, and I would like to be left out of any articles that mention her, because she has nothing to do with me. A total stranger.”

Hilaria said she “became very sick with stress” around the time of the special’s release and that she saw one of her kids crying over the comments. “It gutted me because I couldn’t understand how someone could be so inherently cruel,” writes Hilaria.

“I don’t need an apology,” Hilaria writes, later adding, “No matter what, I hope I never meet her.”

In her Netflix special Emergency Contact that debuted in June 2023, Schumer said, “I’m not trying to bully a sociopath — I have a point,” while doing a bit about Hilaria and the controversy her accent sparked in 2020 when people questioned the authenticity of her Spanish origins. “My point is that all evidence points to this woman, since she met her husband, has straight-up pretended to be from Spain.”

No one – especially not Amy Schumer – forced Hilaria to lie about having a Spanish background, nor did anyone force Hilaria to fake her come-and-go Spanish accent. Yeah, Amy Schumer isn’t apologizing, nor does she need to apologize for anything she’s said about Hilaria. It’s wild that Hilaria even included this in her book too. No, it’s even crazier that Hilaria – who has lived a bizarre life full of lies – is even trying to tell her story through a memoir.

Amy Schumer was one small part of one of the best gossip stories during the pandemic. It all started in the final days of 2020, when Hilaria Baldwin was doing what she always does: pose for social media photos in lingerie whilst doing provocative yoga poses. Amy Schumer then trolled Hilaria about the photos, and Hilaria responded with an Instagram video about how people are so mean to her about how hot she is. What was funny about Hilaria’s video is that she dropped her fake “Spanish accent” at the time, and afterwards, people started doing a deeper dive into Hilaria’s years of lies about how she’s “from Spain” and how she’s faked a Spanish accent this whole time. Well, more than two years later, Schumer is making jokes about Hilaria in her new Netflix stand-up special, Amy Schumer: Emergency Contact.

“Do you guys know who Hilaria Baldwin is?” Schumer asks coyly. “I’m saying it wrong. I’m sorry,” she says, adopting a Spanish accent. “Hilaria Baldwin. I just can’t wrap my head around this story.”

Schumer says she met Hilaria “years ago,” backstage at “Saturday Night Live,” where Hilaria told Schumer she was “’from España,’ (with) a very thick Spanish accent.”

“They have a von Trapp amount of children, and they named them all – I’m not sure, but very Spanish names like Jamón, Croqueta and Flamenco,” Schumer continues. “And all of this would be fine and beautiful, except that ‘Hilaria from España’ is actually Hillary from Boston. This woman is in no way Spanish. Her parents are not from Spain. No one in her life is from Spain. You’re going, ‘What?!’ Did you think I was just doing a really racist Spanish impression?

“So, I’m not trying to bully a sociopath. I have a point, OK?” Schumer continues. “I think what had happened was she went to Spain. And I’ve been lucky enough to go to Spain. Some of you have been. It’s great, right? Don’t you love it? I loved it, too. But Hillary from Boston … loooved it!” Schumer reverts to the Spanish accent before declaring “I am going to be from it!”

“My point is that all evidence points to this woman, since she met her husband, has straight up pretended to be from Spain,” Schumer says in her special. “And her husband shot someone.” Schumer’s point: Neither cares about the other’s transgressions in their marriage, so “find someone who can stand you.”

So I think the part about Hilaria’s baby names is kind of gross – Spanish names are lovely – but yes, Hilaria did give her children Spanish names to keep up her con about being “from Spain.” Like, y’all know I’m not an Amy Schumer fan, but I’m totally fine with people ripping into Hilaria and I think it’s legitimately bonkers that Hilaria is still doing it too. Remember that video of Hilaria giving an impromptu press conference on the street in January of this year? Remember how she randomly shouted “ven aquí!” and attempted a Mexican accent (as opposed to a Spanish accent)? Yeah. Hilaria does deserve to be called out.

Amy Schumer tried Ozempic: ‘I felt so sick and couldn’t play with my son’

To be honest I’m not Amy Schumer’s biggest fan. I’ve never loved her comedy. But one thing I respect her for? She’s up-front about things other celebrities would try to keep secret. She’s talked openly for years about her cosmetic treatments, including getting liposuction, and about getting fillers, then having them dissolved. It’s not that I think female celebrities should have to give us a complete breakdown of everything they had done–I just wish they’d be honest and say, yes, I’ve had cosmetic enhancements, I’ve had professional help. Because public curiosity about celebrities’ bodies can be pretty invasive. But when stars say they owe their taut, chiseled, un-wrinkled faces to olive oil or sweet potatoes, it’s just insulting our intelligence. People are too savvy for that nowadays. Amy is breaking the latest treatment taboo, and sharing about taking Ozempic, including the side effects. She was on Watch What Happens Live and she told Andy about her experience. She says she’s not on it anymore because of how it made her feel.

During an appearance on Thursday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the comedian and actress, 42, said that she previously tried Ozempic, an FDA-approved prescription medication for people with type 2 diabetes.

It’s one of the brand names for semaglutide and tirzepatide — also known as Wegovy and Mounjaro — which works in the brain to impact satiety, and is the latest Hollywood weight loss trend.

“Like a year ago, I tried it,” she told Cohen, 55. “I was one of those people that felt so sick and couldn’t play with my son. I was so skinny and he’s throwing a ball at me and [I couldn’t].”

The most common side effects with medications like Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro are nausea and diarrhea, and sometimes it can cause vomiting or constipation, Ania Jastreboff, M.D., PhD., an obesity medicine physician scientist at Yale University, previously told PEOPLE.

Because of the side effects, Schumer decided the medication wasn’t for her. “And you’re like, ‘OK, this isn’t livable for me.’ But I immediately invested [in it] because I knew everyone was going to try it,” she added.

The Life & Beth star then shared her opinion on fellow celebrities “lying” about taking Ozempic for weight loss, noting her own transparency when it comes to her health journey and cosmetic procedures.

“Everyone has been lying saying, ‘Oh smaller portions.’ Like shut the f— up. You are on Ozempic or one of those things or you got work done. Just stop,” she said. “Be real with the people. When I got lipo, I said I got lipo.”

Major props to Amy for talking about this. I’m sure she’s always faced pressure to lose weight in her industry, and Ozempic seemed like something worth trying. The fact that it made her feel too weak and sick to play with her son casts it in a new light for me. If there weren’t a shortage of Ozempic that is making it hard for people who truly need it, and if it weren’t a thousand dollars a dose, I’d be tempted to take it, too. But between the side effects, the cost, and the ethical considerations, I think the negatives outweigh the positives. Amy’s story only makes me more sure of that. I also have pretty bad body dysmorphia and a decade-long history of problematic eating so I have no business thinking about weight loss drugs. All I’m saying is, I empathize with people who try to get their hands on this stuff when they don’t have a medical need for it. It’s ultimately about acceptance and belonging. That’s how it is for me, and how it sounds like it was for Amy. She knew everyone else would be taking it and didn’t want to be left out. If there were something that would make my body more “acceptable” in our society, and all it took was a weekly injection? Yeah, it’s tempting. I know that probably makes me seem mercenary and cynical. But when looking good is part of your job, as it is for celebrities, the pull must be even stronger.

What I worry about is how Ozmepic use in Hollywood is going to make the beauty standard even more restrictive and impossible for regular people to achieve. These are people whose job is to be beautiful. They already have every advantage and resource available, from personal trainers, chefs, plastic surgeons, aesthetic injectors, dermatologists, facialists. Hollywood men have access to steroids and human growth hormone, probably, as well as the other drugs bodybuilders have used for decades to lean out. They have the money, and the time, to make looking good a priority. Now they have one more arrow in their quiver that the rest of us can’t get. I like that Amy is calling other celebs out for lying, to be honest. It’s getting super old.

Amy Schumer on Louis CK’s Grammy: ‘It doesn’t feel good. I think it doesn’t feel good’

The Oscars Slap has given us so much. We’ve watched as Black Twitter pulled out their receipts on Zoe Kravitz. We’ve watched white women center themselves in the drama, like Will Smith slapped all of them personally. We’ve watched as the Academy couldn’t even get their g–damn stories straight for 72 hours after the Oscars. We’ve watched as the comedy world freaked out about the thought of feeling “unsafe” for telling humiliating jokes, while the same comedy world refused to say sh-t about Louis CK winning a Grammy. Hopefully, we’ve also gotten something else very special: Amy Schumer torpedoing her own comeback.

Days after the Oscars, Schumer posted a promo for her latest show, and said she was “still triggered and traumatized” by the slap and “I’m still in shock and stunned and sad.” Less than a week after the slap, Schumer was back to doing standup and she referred to Will Smith as “Ali” multiple times and told the disgusting jokes she claimed were censored by producers, including a macabre joke about Alec Baldwin killing Halyna Hutchins. Well, Schumer keeps talking. She was on Watch What Happens Live this week and she addressed the accusations of joke-stealing (she stole Nicole Conlan’s joke during the Oscars) and more.

What happened when Will Smith won Best Actor: “I’ll just say: I was backstage, and I knew I had to go out… and it really felt like the Situation Room of comedy. We were all just watching the monitor, and then he won… Everyone was just kind of floored—the whole thing. And I was just thinking, what am I going to do when I go out there?”

She denied stealing the DiCaprio joke, “He has done so much to fight climate change and leave behind a cleaner, greener planet for his girlfriends.” “OK. Well, I would like to say, I haven’t personally been on Twitter,” Schumer said when asked about stealing the joke. “I’ve had my assistant do it, just so I can remain alive and not kill myself. And also, that joke was written by Suli McCullough. But I thank you guys, always, for making sure that I don’t start thievery. I just got to do a lie-detector test on Vanity Fair and they asked me, thank God, ‘Have you ever stolen a joke?’ and I said no, and it was ‘that’s true.’ So, everybody just chill. It’s crazy. I’m funny enough, I don’t need to steal sh-t.”

She donated her Oscar check: Schumer said that she donated the $15,000 she was paid to host the Oscars to Planned Parenthood.

What she thought about Louis CK winning a Grammy: “I don’t think it feels good. It doesn’t feel good. I think it doesn’t feel good.”

Granted, she’s one of the very few comedians even saying THAT about Louis CK. But she had soooooo much to say about “Ali” and how the slap left her triggered and traumatized, yet she can only say “it doesn’t feel good” when she’s asked about a sexual predator within the comedy world? A man who also tried to ruin the careers of his victims? Once again, people are actually noticing the wide disparity in reactions to “the Oscar slap” versus everything else. The message is loud and clear: sexual predators, rapists, harassers and violent misogynists will always have a place in entertainment. Men who slap grown men in a chaotic defense of a woman will not have a place.

Oh, and she absolutely needs to stop stealing jokes.

A few days after the Oscar slap, Amy Schumer posted a promo of her latest series Life & Beth, and wrapped in that promo, she wrote that she was “still triggered and traumatized” by Will Smith slapping Chris Rock and she was “still in shock and stunned and sad… Waiting for this sickening feeling to go away from what we all witnessed.” I have strong feelings about all of that, but like many of the celebrities who were inside the Dolby on Oscar night, I’m choosing to be quiet. Which probably re-triggers Schumer! She is clearly not done talking about this. Over the weekend, she did stand-up at the Mirage in Las Vegas and she addressed it multiple times as she referred to Will Smith as “Ali.” Yeah, let’s not.

Amy Schumer is still not over the Oscars. In her first public appearance since Will Smith’s slap, Oscar co-host Amy Schumer called Smith “Ali” (as in Muhammad) and referred to the incident as “just a f–king bummer” at her comedy show.

“I don’t even know what to say about the Oscars,” said the Life After Beth comedian, still reeling. “Like, I really don’t know what to say. I have no jokes about it. All I can say is that I don’t know if you saw this, but Will Smith slapped Chris Rock. Did you read that in your news feed?”

Prior to her comedy show, Schumer shared on social media that she was both “triggered and traumatized” by Smith slapping Rock. She continued to talk about the incident during her set, referring to Smith as “Ali,” the legendary boxer whom Smith portrayed in the 2003 biopic Ali. “I was kind of feeling myself … and then all of a sudden Ali was making his way up,” joked Schumer. “And it was just a f–king bummer. All I can say is that it was really sad, and I think it says so much about toxic masculinity. It was really upsetting, but I think the best way to comfort ourselves would be for me to say the Oscar jokes that I wasn’t allowed to say on TV.”

Schumer then shared a few jokes supposedly cut from the Oscar telecast, warning the audience that her lawyer warned her against saying them on TV before diving into a few jokes about Joe Rogan, sexual misconduct allegations against James Franco (Franco has denied the allegations), and the Rust shooting. “Don’t Look Up is the name of a movie? More like don’t look down the barrel of Alec Baldwin’s shotgun,” she said. “I wasn’t allowed to say any of that [at the Oscars], but you can just come up and [slap] someone.”

I’d like to remind everyone at this point that if Will Smith had not slapped Chris Rock on stage at the Oscars, the headlines the next morning would have been about how badly Amy, Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes bombed at the Oscars. Those jokes are terrible and now I understand why the jokes Amy got to say at the Oscars were so bad – the ones they cut were even worse. But seriously, it’s like Amy gets off on portraying Black and brown men as hyper-violent and toxic. Guess she didn’t do as much “undoing” work on her racism issues as she thought she did. Referring to Will Smith as “Ali” throughout her set? Yikes.

I wondered if Amy Schumer would say anything and Chris Rock and Will Smith and here we go, she has. Before we get into this, I’d just like to say – again – how weird it was that Oscar producers didn’t think to send out one of their three hostesses to simply say something along the lines “what just happened was kind of crazy and I know everything feels really unsettled, but we still have a live show to do so everyone take a breath and buckle down and we’ll get through it together.” Like, that’s all it would have taken to significantly take the edge off. Preferably from Regina Hall or Wanda Sykes. It was the fact that no one addressed other than Sean Combs! That’s bonkers to me.

So, Amy Schumer said words. You know she’s tight with Chris Rock too – he’s directed her comedy specials and he’s one of her closest allies in the comedy world. This is what Amy posted on Instagram:

I think we can all agree that the best way to unpack what happened is to stream my series @lifeandbethhulu and see me on tour this fall. But for real. Still triggered and traumatized. I love my friend @chrisrock and believe he handled it like a pro. Stayed up there and gave an Oscar to his friend @questlove and the whole thing was so disturbing. So much pain in @willsmith anyway I’m still in shock and stunned and sad. Im proud of myself and my cohosts. But yeah. Waiting for this sickening feeling to go away from what we all witnessed.

Again, people are acting like Will Smith murdered someone on live television. It was a slap! It wasn’t nothing, but the lack of perspective is kind of crazy to me? Anyway, as I said in the Jim Carrey post, any person can choose to just… not say anything. Or come up with their own filler conversation. It was wild! Wow, that was really crazy. I’m going to pray on it.

Amy Schumer isn’t shy about sharing her journey with her fans. Last year Amy had a hysterectomy and appendectomy at the same time. Amy also got facial fillers, decided that she did not like how they made her look and had them dissolved last month. Amy recently shared a photo on the beach in a cute black swimsuit. In the caption, Amy wrote about feeling good after getting liposuction and said that she is down to 170 pounds. Below is her caption.

I feel good. Finally. It’s been a journey thanks for helping me get my strength back @seckinmd (endo) @jordanternermd (lipo) never thought i would do anything but talk to me after your uterus doesn’t contract for 2.5 years and you turn 40. @paulvincent22 vickie Lee (acupuncture) my girl Nicole from the tox my friends and fam. Not gonna lie, if I had the money, I would totally get liposuction. I am not even mad at Amy for doing what makes her feel good and beautiful. Because let’s be honest sometimes diet and exercise just don’t cut it especially after a certain age. (I am not against plastic surgery either, but it can become an addiction and take away from a person’s uniqueness.) I am not a fan of Amy’s comedy, but I have been enjoying her honesty and openness. I like celebrities who don’t pretend to be perfect and are honest about their struggles.

Amy looks damn good in her beach photos but there were several other photos that she posted on Instagram where she also looked amazing (those are posted below). Amy in her own way is destigmatizing women getting work done. I am looking forward to a day when women are celebrated no matter their size and appreciate Amy’s confidence. It takes a lot of courage to broach the topics that Amy has, so kudos to her.
