The Zolciak-Biermann divorce is getting uglier by the day. The couple formerly known as Kim and Kroy Zolciak-Biermann is having a ton of financial problems, they’re fighting over legal and physical custody of their four minor children, Kim asked for Kroy to be drug tested, and Kroy accused Kim of having a gambling addiction and asked for a psych evaluation. Most recently Kim has accused Kroy of being mentally abusive. But I didn’t realize that despite all this mudslinging, apparently they are still living in the same house and hating every moment of it. Yikes.

Anyone holding out hope that Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann might find some common ground during their nasty divorce should just give up … cuz it just ain’t happening.

Sources with direct knowledge tell us the estranged couple has stopped all direct communication … only having a back and forth using their lawyers.

What’s more — the two still live under the same roof, but in separate wings of the house, while still sharing their 4 young kids between the two of them. Our sources says there’s absolutely zero chance the pair will ever get along again, things are just that bad.

When speaking of their relationship, our source says, “They hate each other. It’s very contentious.” We’re told the whole thing has been messy for their family, and will continue at least until the divorce is finalized and Kim and Kroy can legally go their separate ways.

TMZ broke the story, Kim filed docs earlier this week defending herself as a mother and accusing Kroy of being mentally and emotionally abusive over the years.

Kroy’s taken his own jabs at Kim, too, accusing her of having a serious gambling addiction and asking the judge for sole physical and legal custody of the couple’s children.

Of course, the divorce has been nasty from the beginning … both filed separate divorce petitions on the heels of TMZ learning the couple is in the hole with the IRS for more than $1 million.

Well, they do have a huge house, which is currently in foreclosure. So if they’re staying in separate wings, maybe it’s not so hard to avoid their hated former other half. The still living together thing has shades of Scandoval, except trashier and less mature and just plain sadder because there are four minor children involved. Like that can’t be good for the kids to be living in a house with two parents who absolutely hate each other. Even if things were not great before, it’s probably markedly worse since the divorce filing. But you know who is not choosing sides? Kim’s two adult daughters from her previous relationships. Kroy officially adopted Brielle and Ariana 10 years ago after marrying Kim and both girls wished him a happy Father’s Day on Instagram. It looks like they may have even spent the day together too. He did seem like a real dad to the girls, so that’s nice, though it probably makes things awkward with their mom.

We are on day three of the Kim Zolciak/Kroy Biermann divorce and it’s already getting muddy. So when sources were dispatched to say that this was going to get nasty, the outlets responded with a general, ya think?! Both Kim and Kroy have released their filings to the press, making it look like the other person is responsible for their $1.1 million tax bill. Now they’re getting various people to tell the media that they are simultaneously a very tight-knit, close family but also that this split has been brewing for a while. Both Kim and Kroy are making it clear there is no third party involved – yet. However, they’re dropping major hints that the other person shouldn’t be trusted with the children. Or the money, apparently. This isn’t *going* to get messy, it already is.

Kim Zolciak-Biermann and Kroy Biermann’s divorce could become contentious as a potential custody battle looms.

A source close to The Real Housewives of Atlanta star, 44, and her estranged husband exclusively tells PEOPLE that “everyone expects this divorce is going to get really bad because neither of them will give in.”

“Divorce is terrible but the kids are going to have to go through this in a very public manner,” the insider adds, referring to the couple’s four children: 9-year-old twins Kaia Rose and Kane Ren, plus sons Kash Kade, 10, and Kroy Jagger, 11.

Biermann also legally adopted Zolciak-Biermann’s older daughters Ariana Biermann, 21, and Brielle Biermann, 26, in 2013.

The source shares that Biermann, 37, is the “absolute sweetest guy” but struggled with his role in the household.

“As a couple, it’s obvious that Kim has always been the head of the household,” the source explains. “Because of that, this makes [the divorce] even harder for him.”

“It’s really sad because he is a great dad,” the source adds. “With that said, they were both very involved parents and they both deserve to share custody and anyone that knows them would agree.”

“She’s not cutting the kids off from Kroy,” a second source close to the mom of six previously told PEOPLE. “She wants him to be involved as their dad.”

A friend of the RHOA star also told PEOPLE that she had been planning her split from her husband of nearly 12 years for “a long time,” though that fact hasn’t made the divorce news any easier for the family.

The divorce news now makes Zolciak-Biermann a strong candidate to join the cast of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, the first source tells PEOPLE.

“I am sure they are considering her for the next Girls Trip and I know if she is offered to do it, she will take it,” the insider adds. “Sadly, this drama makes her have a huge story line and that is obviously attractive for reality TV.”

Good lord, day three and we already have so much to unpack! Keep up, too, because we know every moment of this divorce will be aired. Kim will be screaming from her turret like the town crier each morning. Everything Kim does turns angry. She couldn’t even give a tour of her house without bitterness. Kim says she doesn’t want to cut Kroy off from the kids but I’d put money on the fact she’s not ready to be a full-time parent. And with the IRS about to freeze her assets, a full-time nanny will be an issue. Kroy getting full custody means a big ol’ support check, which means he doesn’t think he’s getting much spousal support.

That bit at the end, though, the part about Kim being eligible for the Housewives Girls Trip – klassy. Were it any other person I would say no, they aren’t throwing a grenade in the middle of their family so they can get hired for a reality show. But if the tacky platform heel fits…

Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann’s gold leafed love story is coming to a close. Or rather, Kim is slamming that book shut and tossing it in a drawer before the feds can find it. Kim and Kroy have been married for almost 12 years. During that time, they have inundated us with their over-the-top lifestyle on their reality show, Don’t Be Tardy, selfies with them hanging all over each other and protestations that they are totally in lust with each other, dammit. And now we find out that maybe their union wasn’t as rock solid as Kroy’s impressive biceps? Color me shocked.

Kim Zolciak-Biermann and Kroy Biermann’s marriage is reportedly over.

The Bravo stars called it quits after nearly 12 years of marriage, according to TMZ.

The pair’s date of separation has been listed as April 30, per court documents obtained by TMZ. In the filing, The Real Housewives of Atlanta star described her marriage as “irretrievably broken with no hope of reconciliation.” Zolciak-Biermann is seeking primary physical custody of their children and joint legal custody; she has also asked for spousal support and the restoration of her maiden name.

Zolciak-Biermann previously denied reports of trouble in her marriage with Biermann in 2016 when rumors of friction surfaced after the now-retired NFL player was cut from the Buffalo Bills.

“These f—ing idiots that write this s— in the tabloids, all for clicks on your website,” she said at the time. “You say that Kroy and I are ‘at war’ because he’s home with me so much? Newsflash, a–holes: He played for the Atlanta Falcons for eight years so he’s always been f—ing home! Yahoo!”

She added, “On a more serious note, I really don’t appreciate people talking s— – especially s— that’s not true because I have the most incredible husband in the world.”

Zolciak-Biermann even said she was “married to the king,” also calling Biermann “the most incredible human that’s ever walked this planet.”

Even though Kim filed because her marriage was, “irretrievably broken with no hope of reconciliation,” Hollywood Life reported that the couple is still living in that big ol’ Atlanta manse they’re clinging on to by claw or by crook. There’s plenty of room, I’m sure they just pick a room and shout MINE! Plus, they probably had to sell off all their belongings to keep the house, so there’s nothing to throw at each other.

This is about money, too. Kim’s filing is very specific. She filed on May 1 and cited April 30th as their separation date. Guess what else got filed on May 1? A $1.1 million tax bill the couple owes to the IRS. The IRS doesn’t care if you’re a Bravolebrity, just ask Al Capone. So even though Kim and Kroy pulled some grift to get their mansion off the auction block, they aren’t dancing around that tax bill. And that isn’t the end of their issues. They owe the state of Georgia $15,000 as well. Apparently Kroy was the family’s manager. So with Kim’s filing dates, it looks like she’s trying to legally maneuver herself away from some of the fiscal responsibility. But Kroy’s petition just dropped and his said that Kim “must maintain all financial documents… including all income records, tax records, expense records and more.” So they are blaming each other. Plus they both want sole physical custody of their minor kids, they have Brielle, 26, Ariana, 21, Kroy, 11, Kade, 10 and twins Kaia and Kane, nine. Kim wants joint legal custody and Kroy wants sole legal custody. This is getting messy fast.
