When we’re talking about Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s messy divorce, please pay attention to which outlets are pushing certain narratives. One of the reasons why Kidman was able to walk away from Tom Cruise mostly unscathed is because she had the support of CAA (one of the most powerful agencies in Hollywood) and she had the support of certain media groups, including the Murdochs’ octopus-like media tentacles in Australia, the UK and America. Keith Urban is no Tom Cruise – meaning, Nicole really doesn’t have to work this divorce the same way. Most people are already on her side, and her team is doing what they need to do to keep her narrative out there in People Mag and TMZ. But! Sexism still exists, and people love to infantilize white dudes. That’s why rumors have already been thrown out there about another “reason” for Keith leaving Nicole: she works too much, she travels too much, her career emasculates poor Keith. Well, here’s an added bonus: Keith didn’t like that Nicole was taking sexy roles in movies like Babygirl. Interestingly, it’s a Murdoch-owned outlet putting this story out there.

Keith Urban was unsupportive of Nicole Kidman as she promoted her sexually explicit movie, “Babygirl” last year, multiple sources told Page Six. Kidman filed for divorce earlier this week, while Urban had already taken off his wedding ring when he performed on stage in Hersey, PA, Thursday night.

In 2024, the country crooner failed to join his wife at the Venice Film Festival as she debuted the film in August and again when it opened at the Toronto Film Festival that September.

In the movie, Kidman, 58, is a high-powered CEO who launches into an affair with her handsome intern, played by Harris Dickinson, 29, while dissatisfied with her sex life with her husband, played by Antonia Banderas, 65.

“Keith didn’t like the film and he didn’t even like Nicole promoting the movie,” said a Hollywood insider. Another source alleged that the 57-year-old Urban feared that he would be mocked because of the film’s subject.

Indeed, on July 1, the singer appeared to end an interview on Australia’s Mix 102.3 “Hayley & Max in the Morning” when he was quizzed about his wife’s starring roles with young men.

“What does Keith Urban think when he sees his beautiful wife with beautiful younger men like Zac Efron having these beautiful love scenes on TV and radio?” host Max Burford asked.”I think his team hung up on us because they didn’t want us to ask that question,” the producer added. “He’s gone, see you Keith.” His co-host Hayley Pearson said she believed they “upset” Urban because he “doesn’t like the personal stuff.”

A source, however, later told People that Urban didn’t leave the call.

What’s crazy is that Babygirl was a product of Nicole’s pledge to work with more female directors. Eight years ago, Kidman pledged to work with a woman director every 18 months. In those eight years, Nicole worked with 19 women directors. Babygirl was one of those 19 projects – Halina Reijn wrote and directed the film, and because Nicole signed on, Reijn was pretty much guaranteed financing (fun fact: Nicole was also the one to secure the rights for INXS’s “Never Tear Us Apart”). My point is that Nicole was doing all of this for feminist reasons, to get women’s stories made and to give a lot of female directors their big breaks. Do I think she also enjoyed the Babygirl script? Sure. While I wasn’t wild about the movie, I respect the hell out of Nicole for doing that role and really going for it. Very few actresses would have gone there. It wasn’t all heaving bosoms, heavy-petting romance either, it wasn’t commercialized sexiness, it was dark and awkward and weird. And Nicole did it that way too, and she honestly did some great work in it.

As I’ve been saying, the Nicole Kidman-Keith Urban divorce is a very retro gossip storyline this week. It’s been ages since a couple with this kind of profile has had a really messy divorce. Someone on Twitter called it “Australia’s 9/11.” LaineyGossip’s sources have said that Keith is the one who has been pushing Nicole for months to really make their split public. Like, he’s been wanting to move on, out in the open, and Nicole was the one trying to convince him to work on the marriage, or slow-walk the divorce. It’s now widely accepted in gossip circles that Keith really is involved with Maggie Baugh, a 25-year-old guitarist who also lives in Nashville. Baugh seems to be enjoying her big break as well, and she’s been playing it up on social media. Gen Z, let me tell ya. I bring up the fact that the jumpoff is Gen Z because… Keith is way too old for this sh-t. He’s 57 years old. Apparently, “sources” think this is all one big mid-life crisis for Keith.

Keith Urban’s close confidantes think his recent decisions aren’t just about turning over a new leaf … ’cause TMZ has learned some close to him and Nicole Kidman think he’s in crisis.

Sources in Keith and Nicole’s inner circle tell TMZ they think this is a midlife crisis for the 57-year-old rocker … and, the recent separation is just the latest in a string of confusing choices.

Our sources say Urban fired his whole band — with whom he’d been playing for 25 years — back in January, a few months after he released his album “High.” The album didn’t end up cracking the year-end charts here in the U.S. … though it did make a couple lists in Australia — and it was far from the best-selling album he’s ever had.

Of course, the most shocking moment came when he decided to end his 19-year marriage to Kidman … even though she didn’t want to separate.

Members of Keith and Nicole’s inner circle previously told us they think Keith has moved on with another woman … and, rumors began to circulate when a video of a Las Vegas performance from April began to circulate — capturing Urban pointing and singing to his guitarist Maggie Baugh.

Is 57 too old to have a midlife crisis? You know what it could be? Saturn Return, which is basically like… your life turns upside down every 27-31 years or so, when Saturn “returns” to the same place it was when you were born. When Saturn “returns” for you, it causes major chaos – people get divorced, they quit their jobs, they move to another country, etc. I’m just saying, while it may feel like Keith’s midlife crisis, it could be something more like a double-Saturn-Return crisis where Keith just felt the need to completely blow up his life. Or maybe he’s just a hopeless cliche and he honestly thought he could do better than Nicole Kidman.

The Daily Mail paid for a major exclusive: the first photos of Nicole Kidman since she filed for divorce from Keith Urban this week. She was just out for a walk by her home in Nashville. She was with her sister and Nicole looked like she was venting. As we’ve learned over the course of the past four days, Keith and Nicole separated in June and were seemingly hammering out the terms of their divorce already, and yet Nicole decided to file for divorce rather suddenly after news broke of their separation. It also sounds like Nicole hoped that they could work things out eventually, but Keith was completely done with the marriage. Obviously, to complete the cliche, it appears that Keith is already seeing someone else: a 25-year-old woman named Maggie Baugh.

As a music industry source told the Daily Mail on Tuesday: ‘The rumor is that he’s with a younger woman in the business. It’s all everyone is talking about.’

Even for those in the know, the details remain elusive. One friend told the Daily Mail that Urban hasn’t talked about whether he is ‘dating anyone else’.

‘If it turns out to be true that Keith is involved with another woman, it will feel like the biggest humiliation for Nic,’ an insider told the Daily Mail. ‘She does everything she can to keep herself looking young and in shape. Not only for screen roles but also for Keith. She used to ask him if she’s still hot and, of course, he’d always tell her she was. But he seemed to be growing tired of her looking for reassurance.’

Do NOT blame Nicole for “looking for reassurance.” “My wife is a little bit insecure sometimes” is not a real justification for a man having an affair with a 25-year-old and blowing up his marriage! Ugh, typical Daily Fail. What else? Keith has been promoting his music (??) this year, and people have been going through those older interviews to see if there were signs of trouble. There were signs – Keith was visibly uncomfortable whenever anyone brought up Nicole or their marriage. Meanwhile, there’s apparently a clause in Keith and Nicole’s divorce agreement where they can’t bad-mouth each other in front of their daughters:

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have agreed to a parenting plan that orders them not to speak poorly of each other around their children.

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the Babygirl star, 58, and the country music singer, 57, who share daughters Faith Margaret, 14, and Sunday Rose, 17, are not to speak badly of each other or other members of the other parent’s family. The parenting plan outlined in the document states that the former couple will “encourage each child to continue to love the other parent and be comfortable in both families.”

Both Kidman and Urban are also mandated to attend a parenting seminar within 60 days of the divorce filing.

The Perfect Couple actress officially filed for divorce from the “Messed Up As Me” songwriter on Tuesday, Sept. 30. However, the former couple’s parenting plan doesn’t appear to be new — Kidman signed the documents on Sept. 6 while Urban signed them on Aug. 29.

According to the court documents, Kidman and Urban have also agreed to Kidman becoming the primary residential parent of their daughters. Kidman will get 306 days with her daughters while Urban will get 59 days with them — meaning the Holland star has more than five times the amount of days as her estranged husband.

I actually don’t think the custodial arrangement is a big deal – both girls are teenagers and Sunday is almost a legal adult. Keith is renting a place in Nashville, and it feels like Nicole and Keith are probably going to continue to base themselves in Nashville until Faith is out of high school. As for not bad-mouthing each other in front of the girls… eh. Easier said than done, but sure. “Sources close to Nicole” will continue to trash Keith in the media though, as they should!!

Last night, TMZ and People Magazine confirmed that Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have separated and that Keith was the one to leave. Keith has reportedly purchased a separate home in Nashville. They’ve called Nashville their home and their base for well over a decade, but Nicole and Keith travel and work constantly. Apparently, Nicole and her daughters spent most of the summer in England as Nicole filmed Practical Magic 2. Keith was nowhere to be seen. From People Mag’s exclusive:

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s separation after nearly 20 years of marriage came as a shock to Hollywood — but not to his inner circle, a source tells PEOPLE. The source says it “really hasn’t been a secret” that the Babygirl actress, 58, and the country star, 57, have “been living separately for a while now.”

“People close to Keith felt like the split was kind of inevitable,” the source adds.

Fascinating that the early reports are basically just “Keith left, he was over it, everyone knew he was over it.” People also noted that Keith and Nicole were last seen together in June in Nashville. I guess soon after that, Nicole decamped to England for yet another film. The Daily Mail also had some tea:

‘Keith never sees Nicole, either she is filming or he is on tour,’ one source tells the Daily Mail. ‘There was a lot of love between the two and they might not divorce. They been together for decades so there is a world which they can reconcile, but the way their pairing is now, they are not a couple.’

It is understood that Urban was the one to instigate the split, with his ‘unhappiness’ in the marriage prompting him to ‘call her out’. Kidman was ‘blindsided’ by her husband’s intervention, the source said. Urban’s main complaint appears to have been a growing coldness between the couple.

‘The intimacy isn’t there, they are just going through the motions [of being married]. If this separation gets them back together, that would be amazing, but Keith had to call her out that he isn’t happy,’ the source continued. ‘She was blindsided, but we shall see how things go during the holiday season and his upcoming birthday [next month]. They have some work to do.’

These sources make it sound like the marriage could be rescued, that the separation might not be permanent. I don’t know… everyone else from Urban’s camp really makes it sound like he’s done-done. Then again, no one has filed for divorce and no one has gotten the lawyers involved. The summer apart sounds like a trial separation, and now they’re trying to figure out if any of this is worth saving.

Of all the long-term celebrity marriages, I never really got a sense that Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were in any trouble. Now, I never believed that they were lovey-dovey 24-7, which is how they like to portray themselves. I think they both love to work and Keith has been on the road a lot throughout their marriage, just as Nicole has a jet-setting career as an actress and producer. Still, I thought they figured out how to make those schedules work for them. I guess not, because Keith apparently left Nicole in the early summer, and they are fully separated now.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have separated … TMZ has learned. Multiple sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ … the couple has been living apart “since the beginning of summer.”

We’re told Nicole has been taking care of their 2 children and, “holding the family together through this difficult time since Keith has been gone.”

As for why, we’re told it’s one-sided … Nicole did not want the separation and has been trying to save the marriage. One source said, “Keith has acquired his own residence in Nashville and has moved out of their family home,” which is also in Nashville.

As for whether the couple will divorce … to be determined. Keith and Nicole married in 2006. Their kids are 14 and 17.

People Mag confirmed TMZ’s report, and a source told People exclusively: “Nicole’s sister [Antonia] has been a rock and the entire Kidman family has come together to support one another. She didn’t want this. She has been fighting to save the marriage.” What’s your vibe? I’m shocked that HE left HER. I’m getting an “affair” vibe, especially because the split seems so sudden. Like, Keith just decided he was done in June. It’s really surprising – there are like a dozen other celeb couples which I would have pegged for separation before Nicole and Keith.
