Brandon Blackstock had been ‘dating’ Kelly Clarkson’s ex-assistant for years

I’m not here for any kind of rewrite or reimagining of Brandon Blackstock. I remember ALL of the stories and all of the legal wrangling. Blackstock passed away from cancer last week. He was married to Kelly Clarkson for years, and she filed for divorce from him in 2020. It took years to untangle all of his financial impropriety and mismanagement, and Blackstock really tried to squeeze as much money as possible out of Kelly in the divorce. For the past week, we’ve heard endless stories about how he was diagnosed with cancer after the divorce was finalized, and that Kelly was the one looking after him. Well, guess what? Blackstock likely started banging Kelly’s assistant in the last years of their marriage, and the assistant became his jumpoff and then his girlfriend/partner in his final years.

Brandon Blackstock was in a relationship with his ex-wife Kelly Clarkson’s former production assistant when he died on Aug. 7. Brittney Marie Jones — who was identified in Blackstock’s obituary as his “partner in life and business” — worked as Clarkson’s production assistant in Nashville from 2016 to 2018, according to her LinkedIn.

In December 2018, she transitioned to an executive management assistant role for Blackstock — but still “assistant managed day to day artist schedule for Kelly Clarkson,” according to her profile. Two years later, in June 2020, the same month Clarkson filed for divorce, Jones became an executive assistant for V Bar B Cattle Co., a Montana ranch owned by Blackstock.

A rep for Clarkson did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

The talent manager’s obituary describes Jones as his “beautiful and loving partner in life and business.” It also said that the pair “started building a life, building companies, and working tirelessly to create Headwaters Livestock Auction and what will live on as his legacy, The Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman, Montana.”

On Friday, Aug. 8, Jones’ father Larry paid tribute to Blackstock in a Facebook post, writing, “Yesterday we lost a good man Brandon Blackstock. He described Blackstock as “my daughter’s soulmate,” and said he “considered him my son.”

[From People]

While no one is saying exactly when Blackstock’s relationship with Brittney Marie Jones began, I assume everyone can read between the lines. My only question is whether Kelly knew that her assistant was banging her husband before 2020? Because it sounds like that’s exactly what Jones was doing. Kelly was dealing with so much at that point, trying to figure out just how badly Blackstock had mismanaged her career and her money. Did she know about Jones as well? Well, in any case, I hope Jones was the one taking care of him in the end and not Kelly.

Brandon Blackstock, Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband, passed away at the age of 48

Brandon Blackstock, Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband, has passed away at the age of 48. Few people knew it, but Blackstock had been treated for cancer for the past three years. In case you’re wondering about the timeline, Kelly filed for divorce in June 2020, after she learned that Blackstock was stealing from her, misappropriating her money and misrepresenting her in business situations (he was her manager at the time). Their divorce took two long years to finalize, mostly because of a huge fight over money – Blackstock fought for every single nickel and dime he could get from her, and he even “squatted” in their Montana ranch and claimed joint ownership. She was paying him six figures a month in spousal support, and he walked away from the marriage (in 2022) with a reported $3.8 million. Soon after their divorce was finalized, he was diagnosed with cancer.

Brandon Blackstock, a talent manager known as both the ex-husband of Kelly Clarkson and the former stepson of Reba McEntire, has died. He was 48.

“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,” a rep for the family tells PEOPLE in a statement. “Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”

On Wednesday, Aug. 6, Clarkson revealed Blackstock had been ill, and she postponed her Las Vegas residency to spend time with their children, River, 11, and Remington, 9.

“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” she wrote in a statement, apologizing to fans and expressing appreciation for their “grace, kindness and understanding.”

Blackstock also had two children from a previous marriage, Savannah and Seth, and became a grandfather in 2022 when his eldest child Savannah gave birth to a son, Lake.

Well… I feel sorry for his kids. I also feel incredibly sorry for Kelly. This explains so much in retrospect, including her unexplained absences from her talk show and her sudden postponements of her Vegas residency. Reportedly, she was caring for her ex-husband. Yeah, she’s a bigger person than me. I’m sure she was thinking of their children and all of that, but there was so much water under that bridge. I hope she’s okay and the kids are okay.

Kelly Clarkson: ‘Everybody thinks it’s Ozempic, but it’s not. It’s something else’

Kelly Clarkson has lost a dramatic amount of weight over the past year. People really began to notice her weight loss last fall, when her talk show returned. Kelly addressed her weight loss in a January interview, basically saying that she’s been listening to her doctors, walking more and sticking to a diet. She was purposefully cagey about whether she’s currently on a weight loss drug, which was fine with me – as I said in January, Kelly doesn’t owe us an explanation and her weight or weight loss has never been part of her celebrity brand, as opposed to someone like Oprah. That being said, the dramatic weight loss did give everyone an Ozempic vibe. Now she’s saying it’s not Ozempic, but she is on some kind of drug because she’s prediabetic.

Kelly Clarkson reveals she’s been taking weight loss medication to help with her health journey. During the Monday, May 13, episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Clarkson, 42, interviewed Whoopi Goldberg and began their conversation by complimenting Goldberg on how great she looks. She told The View co-host, “Every time I run into you, you look younger! You’re like Benjamin Button. It’s like crazy every time you walk in!”

“First of all, it’s all the weight I’ve lost. I’ve lost almost two people,” replied the EGOT winner, 68. “I am doing that wonderful shot that works for folks who need some help, and it’s been really good for me.”

Clarkson quickly noted how she has also lost “a lot” of weight, adding, “Mine is a different one than people assume, but I ended up having to do that too because my bloodwork got so bad. My doctor chased me for two years, and I was like, ‘No, I’m afraid of it. I already have thyroid problems. Everybody thinks it’s Ozempic, but it’s not. It’s something else.”

Clarkson explained how the medication is “something that aids in helping break down the sugar,” noting how her body “doesn’t do it right.”

The American Idol winner clarified that she is not on Ozempic — which is one of the FDA-approved prescription medications for people with type 2 diabetes. The medications work in the brain to impact satiety.

The two women then revealed how much they weighed at their heaviest, and before they began their prescription medications. “I was 300 lbs.,” Goldberg said.

“My heaviest, I was like 203 [lbs.] And I’m like 5’3 and a half,” shared Clarkson.

[From People]

Yeah, I think people sort of “accused” Kelly of taking Ozempic, like she was taking a shortcut to weight loss. But I believe that she had medical reasons for taking whatever drug she’s talking about – she has real health issues, she’s prediabetic, she has thyroid issues. She probably needed to lose weight for her health and I would guess that the weight loss is secondary to what is being treated, you know? Anyway, she looks great. I think she’s on a real “get my life back on track post-divorce” kick.

Celine Dion made a surprise appearance at the Grammys, to present Album of The Year

I’m not going to act like I watched the Grammys past 10 pm last night. Sleep is rather precious to me. Celine Dion made an appearance toward the end that I’m sad to have missed live though! She presented Album of The Year, which of course went to Taylor Swift. (Ask Jay-Z about that.) Kaiser covered Taylor’s win here, including the fact that Taylor didn’t acknowledge Celine on stage, but did pose with her backstage. So many people were thrilled to see Celine. We’ve been worried about her after she retired from performing due to stiff person syndrome. Celine came out supported by her son, René-Charles, 23 (how is he that old already?!).

Access Hollywood reported that Celine is filming a documentary for Amazon Prime called “I am Celine Dion.” I look forward to seeing that. Celine was in Valentino and I love her cozy jacket.

Queen! I love her hair.

Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband told her she wasn’t sexy enough for ‘The Voice’

Kelly Clarkson is still recovering from the absolute disaster of her first marriage. She married Brandon Blackstock in 2013, and ten years later, her divorce was finalized. There’s still a lot of legal stuff to get through – she’s suing him for mismanaging her career for years AND stealing money from her AND defrauding her out of lucrative deals and on and on. As Kelly has said before, she ignored a lot of red flags and she’s still crawling out of that completely sh-tty situation. But Kelly is still Kelly and she’s fundamentally a happy, perky optimist, so she’s on the cover of People Magazine this week with an interview about how she’s doing great these days.

Her latest album, ‘Chemistry’: When she started writing Chemistry, “I didn’t see it other than: This is my outlet. I’m a let-go person; I don’t hold grudges. So it was really delving into what happened in my life and why—and what am I going to do about it? I cannot express how appreciative I feel for having that kind of healthy outlet. Because the level of depression and things that come with divorce or grieving is extraordinarily hard. You feel alone, and it’s just a blessing to be able to have that outlet for those emotions that are overwhelming.”

Taking her power back: Finally releasing it “[was] like, ‘I’m taking my power back,’” Clarkson adds. “That sounds very therapy, but that’s because I love therapy, and I think it’s important to have those tools to navigate your life and relationships.”

Life in New York: Today as she builds her own village as a single mom in New York City, Clarkson, who is also an ambassador for Wayfair, is especially grateful for new beginnings. “Sometimes you don’t know what life has in store for you, and you think your life is going to go one way, and it’s OK that it doesn’t,” she says. “You never know how beautiful that might be.”

[From People]

I’m genuinely happy for her that she’s rebuilding her life and reclaiming her power, because Blackstock screwed her over in a million different ways. She sounds like she’s in a good place right now. You can also tell that she feels strong enough because she’s still suing the pants off of Blackstock. As part of her ongoing legal actions against Blackstock, Clarkson was deposed and she spoke about how her husband/manager told her she wasn’t sexy enough to appear on The Voice:

Kelly Clarkson claims her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, once told her she wasn’t “sexy” enough to be a coach on “The Voice.” The “American Idol” alum, 41, said in court documents obtained by The Post Tuesday that she told the talent manager, 47, for years that she wanted to star on the NBC singing competition show, but he informed her that network executives were “looking for a more sex symbol type.”

Blackstock also allegedly told Clarkson that NBC wanted “someone sexy” like Rihanna over his then-wife.

The “Kelly Clarkson Show” host made the bombshell claim last year to a California labor commissioner, who ultimately ordered Blackstock to pay Clarkson $2.6 million for unlawfully procuring deals that should have been handled by her agents.

When Clarkson’s lawyer, Ed McPherson, asked how she was able to recall the conversation, the pop star replied, “Well, a wife doesn’t forget a time she gets told she’s not a sex symbol, so that stays.”

[From Page Six]

While I never watched The Voice, didn’t the show’s popularity rest more with the judges’ chemistry with each other? As in, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera and everyone else all had to get along and play-fight and be able to riff with each other? It had nothing to do with sexiness and everything to do with charisma and star-power, both of which Kelly has in abundance. This just shows that her ex negged her and was probably deeply emotionally abusive as well.

Kelly Clarkson: ‘I dropped weight because I’ve been listening to my doctor’

When Kelly Clarkson’s talk show came back on air last fall, suddenly her weight loss was very noticeable. Going through the photos of Kelly throughout 2023, it did seem like she was losing weight pretty consistently throughout the year, then it was like “bam!!” in October/November. She lost a lot of weight from her face, but she’s really slimmed down all over. Check out this clip from her show from two weeks ago:

So, inevitably, there’s a conversation about whether or not Kelly is taking Ozempic or one of the other weight-loss/diabetes drugs. It’s no one’s business, of course, and Kelly doesn’t have the same kind of tortured tell-all history as someone like Oprah, whose weight struggles were always part of her celebrity brand. Kelly is just Kelly – she doesn’t owe us an explanation. Which is good, because she’s not admitting anything other “following my doctor’s advice.”

Kelly Clarkson is building a new life — and a new look — in the big city. As a single mom to daughter River Rose, 9, and son Remington Alexander, 7, Clarkson, 41, now calls New York City home. “I was very unhappy in L.A. and had been for several years. I needed a fresh start,” she tells PEOPLE in this week’s cover story.

Relocating her hit talk show from L.A. to N.Y.C., “we told NBC, ‘I’m not trying to sound ungrateful, I just can’t stay here anymore for my mental health; for me and my kids.’ They weren’t doing well either. For the past few years, I’d just been showing up and smiling and doing what I’m supposed to do, but you can only compartmentalize so long until you break.”

Typical non-working days now revolve around exploring the city with her kids (whom she shares with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, 47). “We go walk the dogs a few times at the park. We’ll go for ice cream because my daughter will wear me down. We’ll go make slime and we go to the museum,” she says.

Clarkson credits their on-the-go activities for helping her get in shape. “Walking in the city is quite the workout,” she says. “And I’m really into infrared saunas right now. And I just got a cold plunge because everybody wore me down.”

As for her diet, “I eat a healthy mix. I dropped weight because I’ve been listening to my doctor — a couple years I didn’t. And 90 percent of the time I’m really good at it because a protein diet is good for me anyway. I’m a Texas girl, so I like meat — sorry, vegetarians in the world!”

[From People]

It seems reasonable that Kelly simply lost weight gradually over the course of a year by walking more, going for a more protein-heavy diet and taking away some of her personal stress. Do you believe that’s all she’s done? Eh. But again, she doesn’t owe us an explanation. She’s not lying, she’s just being purposefully vague.

Cher Kelly Clarkson Music

Cher wouldn’t be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ‘if they gave me a million dollars’

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame qualifications have been confusing for a while now. Dolly Parton was one of the classy few who declined the nomination, thinking it wasn’t an appropriate fit for her music. Then when she finally did accept the induction, she vowed to make good by releasing her first rock album. Rockstar came out in November and has become Dolly’s best-selling record to date. Cher will not be taking the same route. Cher released her first Christmas album, Christmas, in October (prompted by her manager, not from being inducted into the Christmas Hall of Fame). While chatting with Kelly Clarkson to plug the album, Cher commented that she has not been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and that at this point, the Hall has lost their chance.

Cher is sounding off on her snub from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The music icon, during an appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” Friday, said the museum’s voting committee can “go you-know-what themselves.”

“You know what, I wouldn’t be in it now if they gave me a million dollars,” she told host Kelly Clarkson. “I’m never going to change my mind.”

Clarkson shared her disbelief as the audience gasped. “Wait, are you serious?” the “Stronger” singer said. “I’m not kidding you,” Cher responded.

In an email to USA TODAY, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame declined to comment.

The 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in September included inductees Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliott, George Michael, Willie Nelson, Rage Against the Machine and The Spinners. While this year’s nominations were Crow’s and Nelson’s first, the two have been eligible since 2018 and the ‘80s, respectively. Elliott was the lone act to be inducted on her first year of eligibility.

Clarkson earlier shared how the 77-year-old singer recently made history.

“DJ Play a Christmas Song,” from Cher’s latest album, “Christmas,” topped Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart last week, which means the music legend now has had a No. 1 record in each of the last seven decades.

Cher and The Rolling Stones are the only two artists to reach that milestone, but as the “Believe” singer said with a laugh, “It took four of them to be one of me.”

Cher went on to tout more accolades, including the success of her best selling single and one of the biggest-selling singles ever.

“I changed music forever with ‘Believe,’” she said.

Clarkson said like the hit 1998 track, “DJ Play a Christmas Song” has the same quintessential Cher “vibe,” adding, “No one has that sound.”

[From USA Today]

Oh I love it — Cher bragging that she “changed music forever with ‘Believe,’” a song that was a pioneer for auto-tune. Then Kelly piling on with “No one has that sound.” And if you watch the clip, Kelly is trying to talk about “DJ Play a Christmas Song” when Cher interrupts with, “Can I just say one thing? I changed music forever.” She’s fabulous! She’s not wasting time with feigned humility or bashfulness. Icon’s don’t have time for that, snap out of it! The older I get the more I have unreserved enthusiasm for women with unshakable confidence. And bless all 5’ 7” inches of her, Cher is positively lousy with confidence. From telling the Rock & Rock Hall of Fame to go fly a kite, to snapping back that it took four Rolling Stones to match one Cher. As I’ve said here before, it’s Cher’s world, we’re just living in it.
