Timothee Chalamet didn’t see Kylie Jenner on her 28th birthday, but it’s fine!

As the saying goes: the devil works hard, but Kris Jenner works harder. There were some whispers and tabloid rumors about the state of Timothee Chalamet and Kylie Jenner’s relationship in recent days. They haven’t been seen together in a while, which isn’t some huge deal, but they didn’t appear to even be in the same city for weeks at a time. Then Timmy missed Kylie’s 28th birthday on August 10th. Like, she had a party in LA and he was nowhere near LA. So there were rumors but they hadn’t reached the tabloid tipping point. Thankfully, Kris Jenner has it handled. Behold, a People Magazine story with the inside scoop on what’s going on with Kyliothee.

Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet are going strong as they navigate their long-distance relationship. When the actor, 29, missed the makeup mogul’s 28th birthday celebration earlier this week, fans began to wonder if they split. However, a source tells PEOPLE the couple is still together, citing their busy schedules for why they’ve been spending more time apart.

“They haven’t seen each other for a few weeks only because Timothée’s been filming Dune in a studio in Budapest, and Kylie’s been working too,” the source says. “She visited him in July.”

“But even though Kylie has a private jet, the flight is still 12 hours,” the source adds. “She’s a mom and she works as well. She has a lot of responsibilities in LA. Timothée’s schedule is grueling, with very little downtime.”

“They’re making it work though,” the insider continues. “They FaceTime most days. They miss each other and are totally fine.”

Another source adds that Chalamet’s travels will continue as he prepares to head to Jordan and Abu Dhabi for the next leg of filming.

If there’s any consolation for Kylie, I don’t think she has anything to worry about with Timothee on the Dune set. On Dune, Timmy gets to be with his favorite bros, and Zendaya isn’t a threat to their relationship (Zendaya is happily engaged to Tom Holland). I get the feeling that Timmy just hangs out with the guys anyway. Anyway, I actually love Kyliothee and I hope they stick together. It sounds like they’re pretty mature about how they handle the long-distance thing. Plus, I bet Kylie does find some time to fly to Timmy at some point.

Timothee Chalamet & Kylie Jenner walked their first red carpet together in Rome

Timothee Chalamet and Kylie Jenner walked their first red carpet together, after more than two years of dating! To be fair, we’ve gotten used to Kylie attending Timothee’s work events, and there were plenty of photos and videos of them together at the Golden Globes and Oscars. But Kylie had never posed on a carpet with her boyfriend before now! Timmy took his lady to Rome this week, and Kylie was his plus-one at the David Di Donatello Awards. Timmy is being honored with the “David for Cinematic Excellence.”

Timothee wore Tom Ford, a very elegant black velvet suit with a fantastic cut. Kylie coordinated with her boyfriend, wearing a sultry Schiaparelli dress with a black-on-black pattern. She also wore Schiaparelli earrings which are too much for the look – she should have just gone with diamond studs and let the dress be the focus. Kylie’s proportions are wild (and they did not occur naturally) but overall, she looks nice. I think she’s been easing up on her cosmetic tweaks. Timothee obviously loves the way she looks and he seems really hot for her.

Anyway, I think he loves her. He seems to care what people think of him as an artist, but he doesn’t give a sh-t what people say about his personal life. His fans are always like “but he’s a super-sensitive artiste!” Sure, he is that, but he’s also just a guy from New York who likes the fact that he’s dating a rich single mom with her own power and fame. I think Kylie adores him too, and she’s become quieter and more elusive because of him. All of that to say, these photos are adorable.

Timothee Chalamet & Kylie Jenner were loved up at the Oscars & afterparties

Just so we’re clear, Kylie Jenner was Timothee Chalamet’s bad-luck charm. The only award he picked up during this year’s awards season was the SAG Award, and that was the one awards show where he didn’t bring Kylie Jenner as his date (he brought his mom). Not to get too “Club Chalamet” about all of this, but in Timmy’s place, I might have told Kylie to just meet up later at the Vanity Fair party. Instead, Kylie was front and center at the Oscars, sitting right beside her boyfriend of two years. There were a lot of cutaways to Timothee too, so Kylie got a lot of attention.

I mean, I’m only halfway joking. Actors are superstitious though, so I do wonder if Timothee considered NOT bringing Kylie to improve his shot at the Oscar. It’s also notable that Timmy lost the Oscar even though he won the SAG Award – usually the SAGs are the best way to predict how the acting Oscars will go, but this year, the SAG lead actor winners lost their Oscar races. It’s a situation where Timmy is so young (he’s not even 30 and he already has two lead-actor Oscar noms) and AMPAS voters feel like they’ll have plenty of time to give him an Oscar.

Fashion notes: when he walked the carpet solo, he wore a butter-colored Givenchy tuxedo, the cut of which was very “Bob Dylan.” He changed into a stylish black tux/suit for the parties. Kylie wore a custom Miu Miu to the Oscars, then changed into an Ashi Studio dress for the Oscar after-parties. They’ve continued to refuse to walk red carpets together, but they’ll happily pose together inside various events.

EW: Oscar voters hate the ‘Dune’ movies & they’re not sold on ‘The Brutalist’ either

To go along with the wacky awards season, the “anonymous Oscar ballot” features have also been especially chaotic this year. There is literally only one consensus choice in all of the big categories: everyone agrees that Kieran Culkin should and will win the Oscar for Supporting Actor. People really loved that special performance in a quiet little movie, and that makes me very happy. But the rest of the categories? Utter shambles. Entertainment Weekly did an Oscar ballot feature with four Oscar voters: an indie director, a screenwriter of film & TV, a publicist and a casting director. Their votes and their rationales for their votes are chaotic. Some highlights – you can read the full piece here.

The publicist on Karla Sofia Gascon: “I am utterly disgusted at the racism and hatred. I feel like the Academy should rescind that nomination. It is abhorrent, vile hate speech that has no place in the excellence that the Academy illuminates and underscores. It left such a bad taste in my mouth that I think, with the exception of Zoe, who I’ll be voting for, the film lost me…. If you kick the tires a little bit, people have known that she tweeted this s— out…. Latin American Twitter has been saying this for a while. It’s not just an opinion; it’s true hate speech. It doesn’t matter if the actress is cis, trans, I don’t care — there’s no place for that kind of talk. I think it has derailed the campaign. The film has already had strong detractors to begin with. Yes, it has the most nominations, which speaks to the power of the Netflix awards machine, but all machines don’t always work well. From what I’m hearing from fellow Academy voters, it will affect their decision.

The director on Dune 2: “I’m bummed because I haven’t seen The Substance or I’m Still Here yet. The first Dune, I couldn’t get through; I’m not rushing for another three hours of Dune. There’s still time to re-evaluate, but I really struggled. Knowing myself, Anora or The Brutalist I’d expect myself to vote for, but I found one of them a bit silly, one of them exploitative. I’m sad to say, it’s a process of elimination guiding me [to A Complete Unknown] and not passion for these works. Hearing myself say these things, perhaps I should abstain. I think, after a talk with my therapist, I will probably abstain [altogether].

The writer on Anora: “There was very little about Anora that I responded to. It seemed really implausible and like one of those aughts movies that felt very male-gazey about a young woman’s journey that was seen from a male point of view, and really was all about her sexuality. I say that with respect toward her and the director, but not enough to carry a whole movie. Halfway through I was like, why am I watching this? I’m surprised I saw the whole thing. It feels really old-fashioned in a terrible way. Here’s another movie about a guy’s idea of what a woman’s experience of this is like, down to her f—ing him in the car in the end. This is how we fix things, right? The whole thing was so not for me.”

The publicist was bored by Dune: “With Dune: Part Two, I’d seen the David Lynch version of Dune, and I saw [Denis Villeneuve’s] first one, which I was super bored by. I place it on myself; when I walked into the theater, I wasn’t in the right headspace. It wasn’t compelling to me. I’m open to sci-fi, but I think it had something to do with whatever I’d gone through that day…. My goal is to see everything on a big screen, so as much as I can watch on a big screen, great, so I waited on The Brutalist and finally saw it last week. It was too long. I want to spread the wealth and I think I’m giving [Best Director] to Brady Corbet because it does have nuanced characters, [a tight] budget, production design — my vote is going to him. In terms of the film, it could’ve been way shorter and still impactful.”

The writer on The Brutalist: “I’m very mixed on The Brutalist. It has more to do with what the movie stands for. I like Adrien Brody fine; I can’t say I’m a huge fan of him in general, and that’s probably impacting my dislike for the whole movie. This movie is by another straight white dude who sort of gets to do what he gets to do and then talk about final cut at the Golden Globes, you know? It felt like poverty p0rn, the whole thing. Brody is a good actor, but, at the end of the day, how much more suffering are we going to see over here? What is the point of this?”

The director on the Best Actress race: “My apologies to Fernanda Torres [for not seeing I’m Still Here], and I’ve also not seen The Substance, which is important to this category. Maybe I should abstain until I do.”

Casting director on Best Actress: “I’m voting for Mikey Madison for Anora. I very much loved the whole performance. She was incredibly deep and layered. From one end, you can see her hope and dreams shattered, and you can believe every second of the film that she’s going through all of this…. I haven’t seen the performance of Demi Moore in The Substance. It’s not my cup of tea, the genre. But, I have seen parts of it. My taste in acting is in a more realistic style. I haven’t seen the full thing, just parts of it, but I felt that the acting there was on the surreal side. I loved that Mikey was so realistic. I can imagine knowing that person.

[From EW]

It truly shocked me to see how these voters dismissed Dune 2. Am I on crack? Dune 2 was one of the best films of 2024! Lowkey it was in my top three films of the year. What Denis Villeneuve is doing with these adaptations is extraordinary and the Dune films are some of the “prettiest” and most aesthetically-pleasing films to come out in the past decade. Like, real “magic of filmmaking” stuff. I actually hated all of the writer’s bad takes on the films except for The Brutalist – she was actually spitting facts on that one. The Brutalist does seem like poverty p0rn, or more specifically, suffering-p0rn. There was a moment in the second half where I literally had to stop the film and just take a mental health break because of all of the terrible sh-t that was happening. Also: this piece really exposed how Oscar voters are barely watching even half of the nominated films/performances.

Timothee Chalamet & ‘Conclave’ won surprise SAG Awards for actor & ensemble

We’re really going into the Oscars next weekend with several of the biggest awards and races as huge mysteries. While the SAGs solidified the supporting categories – I would be shocked if Zoe Saldana and Keiran Culkin did not win next weekend – last night’s SAG Awards shook up the race in a huge way in the lead categories. Everyone thought Adrien Brody was about to win, but Timothee Chalamet ended up picking up the award for lead actor for his turn as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown. Incidentally, Timmy didn’t bring Kylie Jenner as his date last night, his mom was his date. Maybe Mama Chalamet is his good-luck charm more than Kylie. This was Timothee’s first SAG Award and his first major award, ever, really. He wore Chrome Hearts, btw.

His speech is so funny. Generational talent, just as influenced by Viola Davis as he is with LeBron. So… is Timmy going to win the Oscar? I would be fine with it. I watched The Brutalist over the weekend and while Brody absolutely did an incredible job in a really difficult film, I hope Timothee gets the Oscar. Timmy really is the Lisan al Gaib!!

In another shake-up to the state of the Oscar race, Conclave won the top award for SAG ensemble. The Brutalist won zero SAGs and none of the top guild awards (PGAs, DGAs). I totally understand why Anora didn’t win ensemble too, even though they had a great ensemble. But the film was more about Mikey Madison’s performance overall. Could it be that once voters actually sat down and watched The Brutalist, they were like “you know what, nope on all of this?” I’m so glad that Ralph Fiennes spoke!!

Timothee Chalamet & Kylie Jenner spent V-Day together at the Berlin Film Festival

Timothee Chalamet grew out that gross little ratty mustache last year for a role in Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme. The film wrapped a while ago, and yet the mustache is still here. I kind of wonder if it’s a superstition? Like, Timothee will not shave that thing until after the awards season? You would think he would be eager to get rid of it, because the mustache has brought a really trashy energy to Timothee’s worldwide promotional tour for A Complete Unknown.

Speaking of, Timothee was in Germany on Valentine’s Day. He premiered A Complete Unknown at the Berlin Film Festival. Timmy wore head-to-toe Chrome Hearts, with Cartier jewelry. Something nice: I enjoy the fact that Timothee is such a fashion guy, and I love that he wore pink for V-Day. Something mean: he looks like a 13-year-old wannabe rapper who goes by White Boy Chalmy. He is OOZING with talent, but seeing his slight figure in a pale pink tank killed whatever attraction I had for him. That being said, I still kind of think he might pull off an “upset” at the Oscars and end up winning Best Actor.

Anyway, it looks like Timothee invited his girlfriend to Germany too, so they could spend V-Day together. Kylie Jenner was also in Paris with him last month, so she enjoys traveling with him and having some time with him in-between premieres and promotional work. Kylie didn’t walk the carpet, but she came into the theater and sat next to Timmy and everyone cheered her arrival.

Timothee Chalamet brought his lookalikes to his SNL promo

Best performance by an actor in an Oscar campaign goes to Timothee Chalamet, hands down. He’sbeen a pure delight while promoting the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown. Although it wasn’t an event related to the film, I think Timmy’s campaign really began with his lookalike contest in late October. You remember, the contest that started them all, where the organizer didn’t get a permit for NYC’s Washington Square Park, so police shut down the proceedings, then 1,001 Chalamets traversed to a backup park, and Timmy himself crashed the party just long enough to come in 13th place? Good times. Well, fast forward to this week, where Timothee secured his second Best Actor Oscar nomination just days before he’s hosting SNL. Only, he’s not just hosting, he’s also the musical guest. So in an inspired move, the angle for Timmy’s new SNL teaser is how he’s deploying his lookalikes to aid him in preparing for Saturday’s show:

Timothee Chalamet is enlisting his lookalikes for help pulling off double duty on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend.

In a promo skit for the episode, for which he’ll be both host and musical guest (playing songs from Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown”), Chalamet confesses: “I’ve never done this before. I’m having to be ‘SNL’ host and musical guest in the same week, so it’s a lot of work. And I want to focus on the songs, so I brought in some help to cover all the hosting duties.”

Four Chalamet doubles then appear, seemingly from the New York City lookalike contest that Chalamet himself crashed back in October. Each is dressed in a different Timmy era — there’s “Wonka” Timmy, Timmy at the Paris premiere of “A Complete Unknown” (where he rocked a pink skinny scarf), everyday Timmy and, of course, Bob Dylan Timmy.

The lookalikes are shown taking on some of Chalamet’s “SNL” workload, including meeting with the writers, working on his monologue and listening to Mikey Day bragging about hosting “Is It Cake.” And, when he forgets to show up for a “Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon” interview, the Paris lookalike goes in his place — much to Fallon’s dismay.

“He’s good. He’s really good,” Chalamet says to the other lookalikes backstage. “You guys should learn from him.”

Twenty-one-year-old Miles Mitchell won the lookalike contest in October — which took a turn when, not only did Chalamet arrive, but so did the NYPD, leaving one of the doppelgangers in handcuffs.

[From Variety]

Excellent. Brilliant. No notes! Timmy just gets the assignment, as the kids say. Yeah, he’s promoting a high profile awards-baity movie, where he plays arguably the most consequential singer songwriter of the 20th century, no less. But Timmy isn’t taking himself so seriously that he can’t embrace a fun, somewhat silly fan-driven event, and end up making it a prominent feature in his repping of the film. While contest winner Miles Mitchell already experienced the perk of attending the Golden Globes, it’s very generous of Timothee to include even more of his clones for this SNL bit. And yes, at this point I am absolutely expecting that the extra Timmies will have cameos in the live show. A great nod to Hollywood history would be if they riffed on the classic Lucille Ball–Harpo Marx mirror routine (are you listening, SNL writers?!). But whatever they do, Timmy has given these kids such great exposure! Mensch, thy name is Chalamet.

PS — Mikey Day and the cake gag killed both me and CB!
