Vanderpump Rules plans to hire new cast members for season 11

Season 11 of Vanderpump Rules has already started filming. There were some pap shots and bystander videos of the cast out and about and filming recently. All of the main cast is returning and Raquel Leviss was the only holdout until her team finally began negotiations. But apparently Bravo is still working on the cast list and plans to introduce some new faces. Lala Kent and Katie Maloney have some friends who might join the show. Hm.

Bravo is shaking up the cast of Vanderpump Rules! At least according to a source who spoke to Entertainment Tonight, saying that the show “is looking to bring in some new cast members” for season 11 and “have started having outbound conversations.”

Before you panic that a bunch of total randoms are about to show up at Sur, the source explained that Lala Kent and Katie Maloney “are looking in their external friend groups to see who might be a good fit for the show.” So, this is a friends-of-cast situation!!!

This content is imported from poll. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

Vanderpump Rules’ upcoming season will cover the aftermath of Scandoval—aka Tom Sandoval cheating on Ariana Madix with Raquel Leviss—but as of now it doesn’t look like either Tom or Raquel are filming.

While Tom has signed on to do the show, he’s been MIA due to working on another reality show. According to TMZ, “multiple sources with direct knowledge” say Tom’s filming season two of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test in New Zealand, but he’s “expected to start shooting” VPR when he’s back in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, Raquel still hasn’t signed a contract, but TMZ recently reported that she’s in negotiations and that production wants to start filming soon since “the longer VPR rolls cameras, the harder it’s gonna be to integrate Raquel into the storylines.” That said, no one wants to “pressure” Raquel, who’s been in a mental health treatment facility since April.

Hiring from the cast’s wider friend group is a good move and I think the cast does need some new faces at this point. I know, it’s already a huge cast, but they didn’t really hire replacements after firing all those racists in 2020. So even without Scandoval, I think the show was due for some new faces and who better to add than friends who have been on the periphery this whole time. At least they’ll know how the whole deal works. And Lala in particular is a great reality star so any friends of hers will likely bring it. I am a little skeptical about the vibes of Katie’s friends though. And I wonder if the folks they ultimately bring in will be faces we’ve seen on the sidelines before. I do expect Jax and Brittany to pop up at some point. Also, I didn’t realize Tom Sandoval hadn’t started filming yet. He’s probably glad to start late and make an entrance now that he’s in his villain season. It’s nice that Ariana is getting time to be in her house, film, and hang out with her new bae without the threat of a run-in hanging over her head.

Raquel Leviss hasn’t committed to season 11 of Vanderpump Rules

Vanderpump Rules typically follows the same filming schedule every year. Production takes place over the summer, from around May to September, then the season starts airing later that fall or early next year. The reunion films in the spring, as the season is ending, then production for the next season picks up soon after. The VPR producers have said they felt the cast needed a bit more of a breather this year due to Scandoval, but filming on season 11 is supposed to start today. But one key member of the scandal is not yet confirmed for a return: Raquel Leviss hasn’t committed to season 11 yet, despite production and her own team’s attempts to get her to do so.

“Vanderpump Rules” resumes filming Wednesday, but Raquel Leviss’ future on the show is still up in the air.

Sources told TMZ Tuesday that Leviss “still hasn’t said if she’ll be along for the ride” despite both production and her own team “working hard” to get her to return for Season 11.

Leviss, 28, has been receiving treatment for her mental health since filming the Season 10 reunion in March in the midst of extreme backlash over her months-long affair with co-star Tom Sandoval.

TMZ’s insider emphasized that Leviss’ stay at the treatment facility — where she’s been for more than two months — “continues to be her priority.”

The rest of the current cast members — including Sandoval, 40, and his ex-girlfriend Ariana Madix — are all returning, according to the report.

Lala Kent recently confirmed that cameras were set to pick up this week.

“That’s, like, giving me anxiety,” she said during an Amazon livestream Monday. “They sent us what our schedule may look like — it’s subject to change — and I’m just like, ‘Oh, we’re really in it again.’”

Leviss last faced her co-stars at the explosive reunion, which aired in May and June.

During a one-on-one interview with host Andy Cohen, she admitted she was still unsure about returning to the series.

“Um, I don’t know. It’s in question right now,” Leviss said in an extended version of the reunion on Peacock, adding that she wanted to come back.

A source told Page Six earlier this month that the former beauty pageant queen is eager to continue telling her side of the story upon exiting treatment.

“Raquel looks forward to sharing her story with the unfiltered truth when she comes out,” the insider spilled.

“She is a young woman that is and has been remorseful for her actions and has apologized repeatedly.”

Neither Bravo nor Leviss’ rep immediately returned Page Six’s requests for comment.

[From Page Six]

Ariana Madix and Tom Sandoval have both been very visible, but Raquel has mostly been in the wind since the affair scandal broke. She filmed that one post-reveal scene with Tom, and then ghosted production until she filmed the reunion, Andy Cohen one-on-one, and confessionals. She’s reportedly been in a mental health treatment facility since March, though sources on her side say she is eager to come back and share her side of the story. A lot of people speculate about Raquel’s mental state, the status of her relationship with Tom, whether or not she should return to the show, or whether or not her parents will even let her (weird!), but I can see it going either way. On one hand, Raquel clearly wanted very badly to be a reality star and achieve a certain level of fame. She’s certainly achieved infamy and I think she will want to come back if she sees a redemption path for herself. It’s hard to be as hated as she and Tom currently are. I don’t think she’s as dumb or naive as people seem to want to think. She already started to separate herself from Tom in her last confessional. I think Raquel is just taking her time to decide her angle, what she can handle, and whether it is worth it.

Tom Sandoval has been making fun of ex friend Tom Schwartz in his lyrics

After his affair scandal, Tom Sandoval has had another high profile break-up — Tom Schwartz isn’t friends with Sandoval anymore after the damage Sandoval’s Scandoval did to Schwartz’s reputation and livelihood. And Schwartz was unafraid of speaking candidly about the end of the friendship on Jax Taylor (Sandoval’s sworn enemy) and Brittany Cartwright’s podcast, or on his latest reality show outing, “Stars on Mars.” It seems Sandoval took umbrage to Schwartz’s comments and/or the bro break-up and he’s now making fun of his former friend by changing up the lyrics while he performs with his ridiculous cover band.

Tom Schwartz has served as an inspiration for Tom Sandoval‘s cover band for months — but are things getting extra shady between the Vanderpump Rules costars?

One of Sandoval’s recent performances with his band, The Most Extras, quickly got fans talking about the message behind the music as an eagle-eyed follower reposted several stories from the TomTom cofounder’s Instagram Story on Sunday, June 18, writing, “I have never heard these lyrics before.”

In the video — which featured footage from Sandoval’s performance at Engelmann Cellars in California — the reality star sang about Schwartz, 40.

“Schwartzy do you remember when you had a lawn? A homeowner lawn. Your mom came out wearing just a TomTom hoodie and thong. TomTom hoodie and thong,” Sandoval, also 40, sang during his rendition of “Stacy’s Mom.”

When his band kicked off their tour earlier this year, Sandoval surprised attendees by changing up the lyrics during different shows, making jokes about having an interest in Schwartz’s mother by tweaking the words of “Stacy’s mom” to “Schwartz’s mom.”

Schwartz, who owns two restaurants with Sandoval, faced backlash after he publicly supported his best friend.

Earlier this month, however, the Minnesota native admitted that his stance has changed after seeing how Sandoval addressed the drama.

According to Schwartz, he felt “exploited” by his friend in the aftermath of Scandoval. “It just looks like he has no contrition, or it looks like he just doesn’t give a f—k and he’s living out his rockstar dreams and good for him,” he added, referring to Sandoval’s current music tour. “I think that’s one thing I’ve gleaned from all the people in the restaurant. They just don’t understand, like the lack of remorse. I know he f—king regrets it. But he doesn’t do a good job of showing that.”

The Bravo star concluded by confirming that he is no longer aware of what goes on in Sandoval’s personal life, saying, “I have no clue and it could not make me happier, I don’t want to know any secrets.”

[From US Weekly]

Let us not forget that Sandoval changing the lyrics of the cover of “Stacy’s Mom” to “Schwartz’s Mom” was an ongoing thing, even when they were on good terms, and he previously used the lyrics to joke that “Raquel is not for me.” Now he’s being a bit more rude by poking fun at his former boy’s divorce and mom in a thong. Of course Sandoval is immature, but he is also kind of proving Schwartz’s point about living out his rockstar dreams and looking like he has no contrition, no? Using cover band lyrics to make jokes about the affair, to make jokes about a friend that he feels wronged him, yeah Sandoval looks like he has no remorse. I think Schwartz is right that Sandoval does regret it and the loss of status, but he’s also having a great time at his sad cover band shows that people are for some reason still buying tickets to attend. Sandoval’s defense is to be obstinate — that’s why he couldn’t help himself from clapping back at Ariana and that’s why he’s clapping back at Schwartz now. And as I’ve mentioned before, I am no fan of Schwartz, but did learn he has a lot of very serious family struggles going on now aside from his self-inflicted Scandoval accomplice and ex-wife gaslighting struggles. So maybe Schwartz really is, in fact, over Sandoval because he truly can’t get dragged down with his former friend anymore.

Vanderpump Rules’ Charli Burnett: Tom Sandoval has ‘cult leader vibes’

Embed from Getty Images

It says something about the public fascination with a reality TV scandal when even peripheral characters are getting interviewed by outlets like Rolling Stone. Charli Burnett is a “server” in one of Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurants, an actress, an esthetician, and a “hustler” as Rolling Stone describes her. She wears many hats and joined the Vanderpump Rules cast in 2019 when it seemed the show was starting to shift to a new and younger cast before a bunch of them were fired for racism. Anyway, Charli is more of a background character (which is important, more shows need these) and she seemed to be paired with Raquel a lot in season 10 due to their similar ages and life stages. Charli weighed in on Scandoval in a Rolling Stone piece and I liked reading her thoughts because she knows more than us but she’s not one of the main players. Some highlights:

On being an unknowing accomplice to Scandoval: It’s been months since Charli last saw or heard from Raquel, when they both attended a watch party for the premiere of Vanderpump Rules Season 10 in the winter. Charli thought it was strange that Raquel tried to socialize with her and her boyfriend that night instead of Ariana, Scheana, and the other cast members she was typically closer to. “We haven’t spoken in like, four or five months, and you’re trying to be my friend in front of these people. Why is that? That’s so weird,” Charli said. “Then weeks later, the news broke. I’m starting to realize they had a plan to slowly pull away. Now looking back, even that night seems calculated.”

Shading Raquel’s pageant history: Although they didn’t become closer until they filmed Vanderpump Rules together, Charli says she knew Raquel and her family, who she says are very involved in Raquel’s life even as an adult, because they both participated in California pageants, an experience Raquel opened up about on the show. “It was weird to me when she was crying about that. It’d be different if you almost won, but you’ve never even placed in the top five,” Charli reveals.

Not questioning the sus things that happened: After Raquel showed up late to a menu tasting at SUR and revealed she slept at Sandoval’s house the night before while Ariana was out of town for her grandmother’s funeral, Charli says she asked her, “What the f-ck is going on? Why are you being so weird? What’s going on with you?” Still, though, Charli didn’t suspect Raquel and Sandoval were having an affair because she says it was “very normal” for members of their friend group to party and crash at Sandoval and Ariana’s home. “It didn’t seem like anything too far-fetched to question. And I think a lot of us were letting Ariana take the lead with things,” Charli says. “If she didn’t question it or she didn’t make a big deal or get upset, then why would other people?”

On Tom Sandoval’s “cult leader vibes”: “When [Raquel] made the throuple comment I was like, Tom has to have these cult leader vibes, where he convinces people what they’re doing is OK,” Charli says. “I think it’s a very dark, twisted, mind-control game and I honestly hope she gets out of it. To be honest, the best way that I would think she would be out of it is her not returning to the show and completely removing herself from the situation.” “To me, she seems like she’s in this vulnerable, needy stage because what was her thought process when she was doing this? I believe Tom had to be feeding her stuff and it had to be a whole mind game because she felt OK doing the bad things,” Charli says.

[From Rolling Stone]

Charli made the “cult leader” comment a couple of times throughout the piece, and I honestly think that’s giving Sandoval too much credit and not enough agency to Raquel. Much has been speculated about her parents’ involvement in her adult life and I don’t think she’s the brightest bulb, but I don’t think Sandoval manipulated her to the extent that some people are suggesting. He is manipulative, sure. And he may have been the mastermind of the attempted strategy to break-up with Ariana and start dating Raquel with clean hands (and look how well that turned out), but I think Raquel had an affair with him because she wanted to do so and she plays the adult baby card with everyone as way to deflect blame. Like, I don’t think she’s smart, but I think she’s savvier than everyone thinks or wants to think. But it makes sense that her former friend Charli would want to believe she was manipulated. What Charli said about following Ariana’s lead and not questioning things Ariana seemed to be fine with also makes sense. Another thing that makes sense — Charli lent a bit of credence to the rumors that old cast members might come back, saying “I don’t know how that will look but I imagine they’re probably going to come back with a force because they want to keep that spot again. They don’t want to lose that paycheck.” If this is true, it will be a bad 11th season for Sandoval. Filming is supposed to start soon.

Ariana Madix: ‘so many people have been through this and they recognize it’

Scandoval might have turned Ariana Madix into a legit celebrity, elevated in the the upper levels of reality star fame instead of just part of a large ensemble cast. She had a profile in The New York Times, she was on the Today Show, and now she’s snagged a Glamour cover and detailed profile. They really give her the full reflection and new beginning treatment, complete with a light-makeup, light-colored clothing, backyard photoshoot. (My only quibble is that it’s dog-only, what is this cat erasure?!) The profile also has the most detail I’ve seen about Ariana’s backstory, including her childhood in Florida and her early adult years in New York. And of course, the affair scandal and her plans for the future. Some highlights:

On why people are so obsessed with Scandoval: “There are layers to it. The best-friend layer, the fact that [he] and I were together for so long and so many people, including myself, saw us as endgame. It’s the deception, the trying to manipulate a narrative, the fact that so many people have been through this themselves and they recognize parts of it.”

On her immediate reaction to discovering the affair: “I think the shock prevents you from being sad immediately. It was like the air was sucked out of my lungs. It was shock, disbelief on some level, but then also anger. When you’ve been caught red-handed like that, there’s no denying it. It’s cold, hard evidence. So I think he was struggling. I think he was really mad that his little house of cards was crumbling.”

On feeling free now: “I definitely feel this sense of freedom because I was the adviser, the sounding board. And he didn’t like that he wasn’t getting constant validation from his adviser. Now I feel like I don’t have to worry about anybody but myself.”

On the taking the new opportunities she has access to: “We have no generational wealth in our family. I want to make enough money to be able to take care of my mom and my brother and any other family members who may or may not need it. I never want to worry about it ever, ever, ever. So I will work as much as possible to not have to.”

On how she hopes this will help fans and herself: “I feel close to a lot of people who watch the show or who will come to BravoCon or who I’ll message with on Instagram. I know maybe it sounds silly—we’re strangers—but I do feel close to them. I feel like we’re a community. And so with this, I hope that in talking about it and allowing [Bravo] to capture it, maybe I’ll be able to connect with a community of people who will be able to say, ‘This is how I got through this. This is what worked for me.’”

On the theory that it’s all fake: “If I was not a fan, like I wasn’t really paying attention, I might think that about any given show at any given time. If someone says that on my page, they get blocked immediately. If they tag me in a comment that says that, I’ll block them immediately. I’m kind of like, ‘F-ck off, this is my real life.’”

[From Glamour]

I do think Ariana hit the nail on the head with why people are so obsessed with Scandoval. Despite being on a reality show, they seemed like a pretty normal, stable, and relatable couple. And Ariana herself seemed more normal and less like the other delusional fame-hungry strivers on the show, so I think a lot of viewers already related to her. Everything but the fact that it was filmed for posterity is all a very human experience. Also, she says that Tom hid affair evidence in their shared laptop! Either this man wanted to be caught or he’s so dumb. You can definitely see that Ariana feels free now after the end of that relationship. She may not have realized how much it was dragging her down, but now it seems like she has a million opportunities for partnerships and sponsorships and she should certainly capitalize on that for her career and her family’s future. It’s nice that Ariana wants to provide for her family instead of asking her mom for her retirement money to fund her bar. As for connecting with fans over this, I think it’s a two-way street. She’s hoping to learn how others got through this, but also setting the blueprint for even more people about how to move on after a breakup. And it probably really bites Tom’s ass that this has legitimized Ariana’s fame, but turned him into even more of a joke.

Ariana Madix infidelity photos Raquel Leviss Tom Sandoval Vanderpump Rules

Tom Sandoval shamed Ariana Madix for wearing a t-shirt during sex

The final part of the much-hyped Vanderpump Rules season 10 reunion just happened. There weren’t a ton of content surprises if you live online, but watching these people actually say and confirm some of these things… wow. Just wow. Tom Sandoval’s rude comment about his sex life with Ariana Madix was leaked on Deux Moi a few weeks ago, but in context it was even worse, if that’s possible. Ariana commented that they were still sleeping together while Tom was sleeping with Raquel and he couldn’t stop himself from clapping back on the betrayed ex-girlfriend he says he loves by saying “she kept her T-shirt on, it was really hot.” Awful!

Tom Sandoval was not making friends during the final episode of the Vanderpump Rules reunion special.

Wednesday’s special had a lot of drama, swearing, snide comments and bitter vitriol throughout — but there was one moment that seemingly unified everyone against one person: Sandoval.

As has been the case throughout the three-part special, much of the screen time has been devoted to “Scandoval” — the drama surrounding Sandoval and Ariana Madix, who split up earlier this year when Madix discovered that her boyfriend of nearly a decade had been cheating on her with fellow castmate Raquel Leviss.

At one point during Wednesday’s special, host Andy Cohen asked if Sandoval had slept with any other women since sparking his affair with Leviss, to which Sandoval said he had not — and denied rumors that he hooked up with another woman in Chicago last year.

This is when Madix brought up an important point, stating, “Well, you know who he did sleep with after he and Raquel started sleeping together? Me.”

“She kept her T-shirt on, it was really hot,” Sandoval shot back sarcastically.

In an hour of television filled with screaming and fighting and loud retorts, the speechless silence left in the wake of Tom’s comment was deafening.

“You’re such a f**king d**k,” Lala Kent declared, as James Kennedy asked simply, “What the f**k dude? You’re f**king disgusting.”

Even Sandoval’s longtime best friend, Tom Schwartz, was left with nothing to do but hang his head and quietly mutter, “Don’t say that, dude. Don’t say that.”

“This is your future Raquel,” Kent said, almost sympathetically. “He’s gonna talk to you like this too.”

Sandoval’s defensive “OK, I’m sorry” response was, unsurprisingly, not quite enough to win back any support.

[From ET Online]

So disrespectful and unnecessary. And he apologized to Schwartz, not Ariana! Tom keeps crying and pretending to be contrite, but then habitually lets the mask slip with sh-t like this. He apologizes because that’s what he’s supposed to do, but then he can’t help himself from taking shots at Ariana and defending himself and Raquel when he should just stay silent and take it. Same goes for his little side chat with Raquel after she left the stage. The pair pretended to be sobered and affected by the gravity of what they’ve done and everyone’s new opinions of them for five whole seconds before they started laughing and joking. Ugh. They also admitted, under Andy’s questioning, that they are in love, but I don’t think anyone aside from Raquel believes that Tom loves her. I am not sure Tom actually would have gone through with the breakup and I think that now being confronted with what he thought he wanted he is making the best of the situation he created for himself by sticking with Raquel.

And Raquel couldn’t even stick to his narrative. In a sort of addendum to the episode, Raquel did her final interview after the reunion in which she admitted several things we already suspected. They kept insisting their affair was a one-time thing until January, but she admitted it was ongoing, including when they were all in Mexico for Scheana’s wedding. And finally, she debunked the stupid lie that dipped out — no went to Tom’s room — no slept in the guest room — after the beach day / Jacuzzi night while Ariana away for her grandmother’s funeral. Tom really wanted to lie on that point because it’s a bad look to have sex with your affair partner in your home while your girlfriend is away for a funeral, but apparently Raquel couldn’t lie about that anymore. As if she’s not still lying about other stuff, like St. Louis. As if we thought there ever was a world in which cheaters have a boozy Jacuzzi sleepover and don’t have sex (though I guess they do drink a lot, but there’s always the next morning). Her crying over that confession to a producer was the most emotion we’ve seen from her throughout the whole entire scandal.

Brittany Cartwright Jax Taylor Vanderpump Rules

Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor want to return to Vanderpump Rules

Jax Taylor was fired from Vanderpump Rules in 2020 and his wife, Brittany Cartwright, stopped appearing on the show as well. A specific reason wasn’t given for his firing, unlike some of his castmates that same year, but he’d had a problematic season of his own just before. He and Brittany had asked a homophobic and anti-trans pastor to officiate their wedding and he’d fought with Lisa Vanderpump on camera. It seemed like years of bad behavior caught up with him and he was out. But maybe they’ll return? Brittany and Jax have been doing these recap shows on Peacock since Scandoval. Brittany appeared at an event and told US Weekly that they want to come back to the show. Ugh.

Ready for a reality TV return? Brittany Cartwright and her husband, Jax Taylor, have been having fun recapping Vanderpump Rules so much that they might be ready to rejoin the SURvers on set.

“We’re definitely getting the itch ‘cause it was fun to have the cameras over and have crew over,” Cartwright, 34, exclusively told Us Weekly while promoting her partnership with Cupshe’s BeMe: The Cupshe Birthday Collection. “Going through that whole lifestyle again was so fun. Like, when we did Watch What Happens Live [With Andy Cohen], I got a little teary backstage ‘cause this was such a big part of my life for six years basically — and for Jax, like, nine. So, it just felt really good to do those things again.

The Jax and Brittany Take Kentucky alums announced in April that they would provide commentary for episodes of Vanderpump Rules season 10, where they recapped the show’s drama for Peacock subscribers. Their Watch With miniseries for the streaming platform debuted one month after they made a triumphant return to Andy Cohen’s WWHL Clubhouse, announcing their “When Reality Hits” podcast.

After leaving Vanderpump Rules, Cartwright found that their marriage has “100 percent” gotten stronger.

“Jax was kind of going through this phase where he was getting a lot of anxiety and stuff and I was too,” she recently told Us of their reality TV experiences. “It can be tough to have everything judged and you know, have to relive things years later and or you know, months later, whenever it airs.”

She added: “So, we look back now and Jax’s always like, ‘I took a lot of things for granted. I can look back and learn from my mistakes and, like, grow from there.’ I feel like us having that break, especially going through COVID, being pregnant, postpartum, all of that stuff, I’m so glad I didn’t have to deal with that on-camera.”

While the twosome admittedly do have the “itch” to return to the California-based reality TV show, Cartwright remained coy about future production. “I don’t know, we’ll see,” she told Us with a laugh.

[From US Weekly]

I’ve said before that I don’t think Scandoval should be a way for all the sh-tty ousted cast members to make their way back on the show now that everyone hates Tom and Raquel. All these people are sh-tty in their own way, but I’d say that like, being allies to racism and homophobia is worse than garden-variety lying and cheating. And don’t forget that Stassi and Kristen falsely called the police on Faith because Jax had cheated on Brittany with Faith. Maybe Brittany didn’t make the call herself, but still. Anyway, that particular brand of awfulness aside, of course they want to come back. Being on that show was the peak of their lives and I really doubt Jax enjoys family life as much as he enjoyed the shenanigans he got up to with the rest of the cast. And he’s delighting in his former friend Tom’s self-inflicted downfall too much to go away quietly. Brittany is likely playing coy because there’s no deal yet and hopefully there won’t be. The show is fine, and actually even better without them. Better to introduce some new faces than bring back some old toxic ones.
