Danielle Brooks Weddings

Danielle Brooks married Dennis Gelin in Miami, wore Christian Siriano & Alonuko

Orange is The New Black’s Danielle Brooks married Dennis Gelin in a winter wedding in Miami this week that looked like a fairy tale. Vogue has incredible photos of the ceremony and reception along with the story of their romance. Danielle and Dennis first met at a small party at Danielle’s house, with Dennis showing up late and making an impression by offering to take out the trash at the end of the night! He accidentally butt dialed her at one in the morning, she answered and the rest is history. They have a two year old daughter, Freeya, who was their adorable flower girl. Their story gave me the feels the photos are beautiful. Danielle wore two custom gowns, her ceremony gown was created by Black designer Alonuko to her specifications. It features a mesh embroidered bodice and a full skirt and is stunning. The gown for the photos and reception was created by Christian Siriano and is convertible to three different looks. Guests were required to take both rapid and PCR tests on the day of the wedding. Here’s more, from Vogue:

As everyone was starting to leave for the night, Dennis really made an impression when he asked if he could take out Danielle’s trash. “I was so taken aback because there had been at least 10 guys in the room, and no one had thought enough to ask such a thoughtful question,” Danielle says. “I perked up and said ‘Why yes, thank you.’ And then we proceeded to talk. He kept complimenting me on my dimples and how beautiful I was. I was drawn in by his smile and beautiful rich skin. I remember asking him, ‘Do you have kids, are you married, do you have a job?’ ”

He answered all of her questions. “It was like music to my ears,” she says. “A brother with a clean slate, has his own, and is thoughtful. Jackpot. I quickly slid him my phone to exchange numbers. As he was getting ready to take out the trash, he asked me where the trash room was. It was the easiest room to find, but I just had to spend more time with him, so I decided to show him the way.”

When Dennis left, he told Danielle he was headed to the Poconos to do renovations on his family’s guest home in the morning. “I made sure to tell him to be safe as he was driving there that night,” Danielle remembers. “And then, while getting ready for bed, I heard my phone ring. I was confused on why anyone would be calling me around 1 a.m.”

“On my drive, all I could think about was Danielle’s Southern voice and brilliant smile,” Dennis admits. “I eagerly looked forward to our next encounter. During my journey, an act of divine intervention took place as I accidentally butt-dialed her. I was at the time and still am to this day, so glad that it happened because we talked for hours and an instant bond between us formed. The rest of my journey was like floating on cloud nine…”

Overall, the planning process went smoothly until about a month out. “Everything was going pretty well until Omicron hit the country,” Danielle says. “It was a bit too late in the process to turn back, so we added extra precautions with required PCR tests and rapid tests the day of the wedding. I have to say our wedding planner, D’Concierge, was out of this world amazing. He never panicked and kept us levelheaded during the ups and downs.”

Even though there were changes in regards to the weekend’s logistics, the bride’s creative vision for her wardrobe was unwavering. “I always knew I was going to have two dresses,” she says. “We thought it would be best to do a first look reveal so that we could go ahead with bridal party pictures and not hold up our guests after the ceremony. I decided to wear Christian Siriano for the reveal. We have been friends ever since my career first began.” The designer ended up creating a three-in-one dress for his longtime friend that went from princess gown, to body-con dress, to a pants look that would finish off the night on the dance floor.

“It was also important to me to highlight a Black designer,” Danielle says. “I feel like when it comes to the wedding process, Black creatives aren’t highlighted enough. Alonuko gave me the dress of my dreams. She flew all the way from London to make sure it arrived. I knew I wanted her one-of-a-kind, flesh-toned mesh with custom embroidery and a big huge skirt. Wearing her dress made me want to get married every day, I loved it so much.” Danielle’s stylist, Kelly Augustine, gifted her with a pair of Chanel earrings the morning of the wedding that paired perfectly with her dresses, and her shoes were by Nina. Dennis and his groomsmen all wore custom suits by Garcon Couture.

You can see the love and joy in these photos and the story of how they met is so cute! Danielle was absolutely beautiful and should be on the cover of Vogue. This has been one of my favorite wedding stories to cover, and I’m jealous that everyone was able to get tested and to safely gather for the reception. It looks like a blast.

Danielle is currently starring in Peacemaker on HBO Max with John Cena, the first three episode of which are available now. Congratulations to Danielle and Dennis!

Ricki Lake Weddings

Ricki Lake married Ross Burningham in a backyard ceremony over the weekend

It’s has been a boo’ed up pandemic these last two years. Several people have met their person during the first lock down. 80s darling Ricki Lake is one who had a successful quarantineship. Ricki confirmed on Instagram that she was dating Ross Burningham in December 2020. In February 2021, Ricki told People that she and Ross were engaged. And now Ricki and Ross are officially married. Ricki posted several pictures from the ceremony on Instagram on January 2. The couple tied the knot in a casual ceremony in their backyard. Ricki stood on a stool as she recited her vows. Below are a few more details from People:

“We did it! 1/2/22 Ross and I said I DO!” Lake wrote on Instagram along with three photos from the ceremony.

The bride wore a golden orange dress and stood on a small stool as she shared her vows to her new husband, who was dressed in a black dress shirt and khaki pants.

Lake tagged the location of their nuptials as “home sweet home.”

Earlier that morning, Lake posted a photo on her Instagram Story of a beach-front sunrise beneath the caption, “Gonna be a very good day” and four celebratory emojis.

Later in the day, the star shared a screenshot of her cellphone screen reading the time 11:11, which she captioned “Magic ✨❤️✨.”

Lake first confirmed her romance with Burningham in December 2020. The star made the relationship Instagram official with a selfie of the two snuggled up together beside the caption, “LOVE.”

In an Instagram post confirming the engagement, Lake called Burningham “wonderful” and “my person.”

[From People]

I am so happy for Ricki. She lost her ex husband Christian Evans in 2015 and I know that was hard for her as she saw him as her soul mate. I am so happy that Ricki has been able to find happiness again. Two years ago Ricki shared her struggle with hair loss by posting pictures of her getting her hair shaved and now she is married. I grew up with Ricki. I had a front row seat to her weight struggles and everything in between. I am just happy that she is still around and that despite a few bumps in the road, her life seems relatively stable. I also love the photos from her wedding and how styled down everyone was. Ricki in a beautiful yellow kaftan and her fella in a dress shirt and khakis were everything. You just feel the love between them. And the last picture of them standing on a deck with the sunset in the background was so romantic and swoon worthy (I am a romantic so shut up). Anyways, congratulations to the newlyweds. I wish Ricki and Ross (ok the names are even cute together) a life of marital bliss.

Carter Reum Paris Hilton Weddings

Paris Hilton got married on November 11th because 11:11 is significant to her

Paris Hilton married venture capitalist Carter Reum on Thursday, November 11, at her grandfather’s former estate in Bel Air. The wedding and reception were followed by two days of parties, a carnival at the Santa Monica Pier on Friday and a black tie event on Saturday. There are some photos from arrivals at the parties below and you can see some photos from her wedding here. Here’s a link to a photo of the dress she wore to the formal party.

Demi Lovato sang at Paris’s reception and Diplo DJed at the carnival. Paris had at least three gown changes on Thursday. Her ceremony dress was a tulle and lace embellished Oscar de la Renta which was absolutely stunning. Paris first posted multiple photos of herself in the gown to her Instagram, but it took her until yesterday to post photos with Carter. She also posted a video with him to her stories where they’re dancing at Friday’s party to a remix of “This Is How We Do It.” As for why Paris got married on Thursday, it turns out that November 11th is significant to her. Here’s how Paris explains her choice of date.

The date of Paris Hilton’s wedding to her husband Carter Reum was no coincidence.

Hilton and Reum, both 40, were surrounded by family and friends when they wed in Los Angeles at her grandfather’s former estate on Thursday. In fact, the exact date of the Nov. 11 ceremony is connected to something Hilton cherishes deeply.

“11:11 has always been my favorite time of day,” the DJ and businesswoman told Vogue.

“It’s my reminder to make a wish and be open to miracles,” she continued. “This date is special to Carter and I — it represents our love story, which both of us knew was meant to be.”

“On top of wedding planning, I launched my new media company, 11:11 Media, this year and am in the process of filming and producing a TV show with Peacock called Paris in Love,” she said. “Thankfully, my mom and groom had a lot of opinions on the planning, so I let them take the reins.”

[From People]

Paris cracks me up so much. She always brings it around to promoting herself and that’s why we’re still talking about her. Of course her wedding and the multiple parties were filmed for her Peacock reality show, Paris in Love. She’s probably either getting the production company to pay for most of this and/or writing it off as a tax expense. I am superstitious and, like Paris, whenever I notice the time is 11:11 I take a moment to make a wish. (Does anyone else have “I Got 5 On It” playing in their head now?) Paris scheduling her wedding for that date reminds me of Beyonce and Jay-Z getting married on April 4th and naming their first baby Ivy (IV, four). Paris has said that she is undergoing IVF although she’s waiting until after her wedding to get pregnant. She’s hoping for twins and will give them city names like London if she has a girl. If/when Paris has children you know there will be a show about that too.

Here are photos of the carnival party featuring Nicky Hilton, Lance Bass, Demi Lovato and Paris and Carter. That looks awesome and like a lot of fun. I love Nicky’s dress! Carter Reum Paris Hilton Weddings

Paris Hilton married Carter Reum in a lavish wedding we’re sure to hear more about

The lead up to Paris Hilton’s wedding to Carter Reum has been extensively chronicled in her podcast, This is Paris, and her new streaming Peacock reality show, Paris in Love. None of us have seen more than clips from those shows and that’s not going to change. We do know that Carter did not want to be in the reality show at first, that the happy prospect has not changed Paris’s insipid personality and that she was planning a three day wedding with 10 outfit changes. So far all we have is a headshot of Paris in her veil and doily gown and the news that she’s married, but I’m sure that will change soon. There are also photos of some guest arrivals, which are below. This is Paris’s first marriage and fourth engagement. From what we know, it is also Carter’s first marriage.

Paris Hilton married boyfriend Carter Reum on Thursday, Nov. 11, in Los Angeles, a source confirms to E! News.

“Paris selected her dress late last night,” a second source says. “There is a lot of love and support surrounding both Carter and Paris.”

On the Nov. 11 episode of the This is Paris podcast, Reum shared, “It is definitely going to be your fairytale wedding,” adding, “That first kiss and that first hug and as we always say, the electric bolts that are going to shoot between us—I’m going to think about all those memories.”

Hilton revealed she was most “nervous” for the first dance. “I have not had a free second,” she explained ahead of the big day. “I did dancing lessons twice; it’s just hard.”

[From E! Online]

The quotes at the end about how hard it was to go to dancing lessons and to plan for this wedding she had total control over are from her podcast. She has that clip on her Instagram stories now. Guests photographed outside Paris’s wedding include Bebe Rexha, Kathy Hilton and Paula Abdul. (Emma Roberts was also there and we’ll have more on that in a moment.) Why is Paris complaining about learning how to dance when she knows Paula Abdul? Get Paula to come over your house and give you lessons! I’m sure this is just one of many stories we’ll hear about Paris’s wedding and the parties that are likely happening this weekend. Congratulations to Paris and Carter!

Ivy Getty Weddings

Do we care enough to make fun of Ivy Getty’s excessive, out-of-touch wedding?

This has been a story all week and I’m not 100% sure why. Ivy Love Getty, a 26-year-old heiress (yes, that Getty) got married in San Francisco over the weekend. She married photographer Tobias Alexander Engel, a photographer. The wedding and reception probably set Ivy and her family back millions of dollars and it’s one of the larger “society weddings” we’ve seen since the pandemic began. But why are people being so negative about it? Is it because Speaker Nancy Pelosi officiated? Is it because even for a society wedding, it was excessive? Is it because she gave exclusive photos and behind-the-scenes extras to Vogue? Is it because people just love to hate on heiresses? I don’t know.

Ivy thinks her wedding was a miracle: She told Vogue, “It’s just like everything I could have dreamed of and more… So it’s wild when something so magical comes true because you’ve thought about it but didn’t actually think it would. Miracles happen.”

The celebration: The festivities kicked off Thursday night with a 1960s-inspired bash at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, which was reimagined as a nightclub for the occasion, according to Vogue. All guests were required to show their vaccination cards at the door before enjoying a night with plenty of entertainment, including a DJ set by Mark Ronson and a performance by Earth Wind & Fire, per the outlet. To top things off, the bride even rocked three different vintage looks throughout the course of the evening.

The pre-wedding picnic: On Friday afternoon, guests enjoyed a pre-wedding picnic — complete with IV drips for anybody in need — and the wedding day festivities kicked off with a pajama party, Vogue reported.

The bride wore Galliano: When it came time to walk down the aisle, the bride wear a custom John Galliano dress made of glass shards — and all of her bridesmaids wore gowns by the designer as well. The custom veil the bride wore on her day also featuring walnuts that represented her grandmother who “grew up on a walnut farm” and guitars to honor her father. “Ivy looked incredible in all those mirror shards that tinkled as she walked up the step,” Hamish Bowles, guest and contributing editor for Vogue, told the outlet. Bowles also told the outlet that California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a friend of the family, was in attendance.

The reception at the Getty mansion: “When my beloved grandmother passed away, I knew I wanted to have the wedding in my house to honor her,” Getty told Vogue. “My grandmother interior designed each room of the house which allows me to feel as if she is there with me. I would be able to look around the room and see something that reminds me of her.”

[From People]

Imagine being an attractive 26-year-old millionaire heiress and thinking it’s a “miracle” to find someone to marry. My God. I mean, so maybe I do get why people are hating on this woman and her wedding. It’s excessive and out-of-touch and maybe Speaker Pelosi should have opted out, same as Gov. Newsom. But whatever, rich people gonna rich people. Her dress was ugly too.

Malala Yousafzai Weddings

Malala Yousafzai, 24, married Asser Malik in Birmingham this week

'House of Gucci' film premiere, London, UK

Just five months ago, Malala Yousafzai covered British Vogue and she talked about how she didn’t see a reason to get married. She confessed to the magazine: “I still don’t understand why people have to get married. If you want to have a person in your life, why do you have to sign marriage papers, why can’t it just be a partnership?” When she said that to her parents, they freaked out, because of course they did! Even in the interview, it sounded like she was softening towards the idea of marriage and allowing herself room to grow and change her mind about how she saw her future. She graduated from Oxford in 2020, and she’s been plotting her next moves ever since, even signing onto AppleTV for a production deal.

Well, as it turns out, she probably did have a man in her life when she talked all that sh-t about marriage to British Vogue. Malala got married this week! She married Asser Malik in Birmingham, which is where her parents call home now. They were married in, as she says, a “small nikkah ceremony,” which means a traditional Muslim ceremony where the bride and groom sign their marriage certificate/contract. It’s also traditional for Indian, Pakistani and Afghan brides to NOT wear white. “Bridal white” is mostly a thing in Western culture, although some brides will wear white in some Asian cultures. But not here – Malala wore a rose-colored kamiz and matching head scarf. She looked beautiful! I hope Asser is a good husband! She’s only 24 years old – I honestly thought she would wait a few more years before marrying, but maybe Asser really wanted to lock her down. (He’s very cute.)

Today marks a precious day in my life.

Asser and I tied the knot to be partners for life. We celebrated a small nikkah ceremony at home in Birmingham with our families. Please send us your prayers. We are excited to walk together for the journey ahead.

Good Celebrity Tom Hanks Weddings

Tom Hanks crashed a beach wedding in Santa Monica and gave love advice

As you all know, I love celebrity feel good stories. Yesterday, I wrote about how Keanu Reeves gave his stunt team personalized Rolexes after wrapping John Wick 4. And another feel good story has come to light. Last Friday, Tom Hanks crashed a wedding, and it wasn’t his first time. Brides Diciembre and Tashia Farries were celebrating their wedding on a beach in Santa Monica. The couple were taking their wedding pictures with their one year old when Tom walked over to congratulate them on their nuptials. Tom even posed for photos with the happy couple. Below are a few more details via Yahoo!:

“We were so in our own moment so for him to walk up, it was shocking and took a second for us to realize. It was the cherry on top for our big day,” Diciembre Farries told TODAY.

In a video of the encounter, members of the wedding party can be heard shouting, “That’s Woody!” referring to the character Hanks voiced in the “Toy Story” series.

The newlyweds said Hanks spent at least five minutes chatting with them and even asked them for a photo. They posed with Hanks and their 1-year-old son, August.

“He said he noticed the ceremony and gave us many compliments and just said we looked beautiful,” Tashia Farries said. “He gave us love advice and was just so positive and humble.”

[From Yahoo!]

This is one of the cutest stories about Tom that I have read in a while. The fact that he stuck around for five minutes giving the couple advice on love and marriage is such a dad move and I can’t. The couple said that Tom was extremely gracious and humble and I believe this wholeheartedly. I also think it was hilarious that everyone recognized Tom as Woody in Toy Story and not by his other roles. This couple will always have the memory and evidence of Tom Hanks at their wedding. I wonder how this story will turn into a family myth over the years. Anyways, Tom can crash my wedding, if I were to have one, any time. I am sure his love advice is excellent. I hope we hear more of these feel good stories because in these dark times I need reminding of how amazing humans can be.
