Caitlyn Jenner Says It Was Harder To Come Out As Republican Than Trans

You know, I’ve always really wanted Caitlyn Jenner to give me more of a reason to root for her. Yes, I applaud her incredibly brave decision to reveal her trans identity, but that’s kinda where the buck stops. Ever since, she has repeatedly proven herself to be completely tone-deaf, ignorant and completely unsupportive of the real issues surrounding the LGBTQ community and has basically come off as a bit of an asshole. This isn’t necessarily a surprise – Bruce Jenner has always leaned more conservative – but it does seem as though Caitlyn has really decided to let her jerk flag fly over the past year or two. Case in point? Her continued support of the Republican party is not only perplexing, it’s downright offensive. I suppose that’s why she claims it was harder to come out as Republican than trans. From US Weekly: While she didn’t speak at the actual [RNC], the former Olympian, 66, participated in a Q&A at the Big Tent Brunch event hosted by a conservative LGBT organization The American Unity Fund on Wednesday, July 20. “I feel like our best hope to get back to a constitutional government with 18 enumerated powers is in the Republican Party,” Jenner told the audience. “But I have to admit I’ve been very disappointed over the last five or 10 years and so I won’t give up hope on it.” The I Am Cait star joked that announcing her political affiliation was harder than telling the world she was transitioning. “It was easy to come out as trans. It was harder to come out as a Republican,” Jenner said. It’s pretty hilarious that Caitlyn continues to support a party that basically wants to strip her of basic human rights. But hey, who cares? As long as they ensure rich people stay rich and minorities continue to lack any power or opportunities, she’s all good! UGH.
