It’s Really Hard Not to Love Sandra Bullock

sandra bullock

Sandra Bullock is one of those actresses (and human beings, I suppose) that’s so endearing, you can’t help but love her even if you don’t necessarily love all her movies. She does some pretty good movies, though – nothing mind-blowing, but at least really enjoyable. In any case, every time she does an interview, she just comes off as so down-to-earth and charming and I think she’s absolutely great.

From Entertainment Weekly:

“When people are like, ‘Life is good,’ I go, ‘No, life is a series of disastrous moments, painful moments, unexpected moments, and things that will break your heart,” she explained. “And in between those moments, that’s when you savor, savor, savor.’”

I know that’s a pretty basic statement, but I feel like especially for a public figure, it’s probably not necessarily encouraged to say things like “life is a series of disastrous moments”, but it can certainly be true at times, so good for her for not conforming to the happy-go-lucky stereotype of what she SHOULD be.

Sandra Bullock has been through some shit, so I can definitely see why she feels like this. I don’t for one second think she’s all doom and gloom, but I like that she can talk about the darker side of shit, too (and without making it seem like a sob story).

Filming ‘Gravity’ Really Depressed Sandra Bullock

sandra bullock

Sandra Bullock is lovely and really sweet and one of the least offensive stars in Hollywood and I’ve been wanting to see Gravity for EVER (I need to hit up that IMAX – is it worth it?) so it sucks that she dealt with depression while shooting the film. The nature of the the whole “stuck in space” storyline meant she had to spend a fair bit of time in an isolation tank – we’re talking 8-10 hours some days – which really took a toll on her mental and emotional state.

From The View (via DS):

“I was depressed, I was angry, I would get so sad because it was a black room, no human contact, they took away sound.”

Bullock explained that director Alfonso Cuarón helped her through difficult periods by bringing her son Louis to her.

“What they did was, Alfonso could see, because he had cameras always on my face, he would be like, ‘She’s cracking, she’s cracking, go get the kid’.

“They’d created this whole wonderland just outside for Louis [to keep him occupied during filming], so [they brought him in].”

Aw, that’s sweet. We all know Louis is the cutest kid EVER, so I can see why that would cheer anyone up, to be honest. I can imagine that would be really depressing, though. Ahhh, I gotta see this movie!

Sandra Bullock Wears a Cheetah Onesie To Bed Because Her Son Loves It

sandra bullock louis

So we’re all aware that Sandra Bullock is great and her son Louis Bardot is absolutely adorable, right? That’s a thing we’re all in agreement on? Good. Sandra has dedicated most of her time and energy now to raising her little dude and has focused all her energy on mom time. Here’s some quotes from an interview with Io Donna:

“The only man in my life is my son, and it’s probably going to stay this way for a while.

“I go to bed wearing a very baggy one-piece cheetah suit, just because it makes my son laugh. My sexy lingerie has been locked in a drawer for a while!”

“Every day my only focus is my son. I wake up at dawn, drive him to school and leave only a couple of hours for myself and that time is usually spent doing laundries. You know those parents who always complain about being exhausted? I feel exactly the same, but with him everything is also fun and new.

“I wake up in the morning and the only aim is being fun, who could say that? I feel lucky and blessed.”

Aw, that’s so cute!  So cute that I literally have nothing negative to say about any of this! But let’s all take a quick second and look back on baby Louis and how much we just wanted to squish him for being so adorable, shall we?
