Whoopi Goldberg: aliens are ‘already here, they’ve been here for quite some time’

Alright, you guys, we are back to one of my favorite topics: the paranormal! To recap, I am fascinated by all of these supernatural, Universe-y type things. I’m talking about ghosts, dreams, intuition, synchronicities, aliens, psychic abilities, etc. I love hearing other people’s stories, too. But onto the topic at hand! Kumail Nanjiani was on The View this week to promote the new Ghostbusters movie, Frozen Empire. Naturally, the topic of conversation had to include a question about whether or not Kumail believes in ghosts, because of course it did. When Sunny Hostin floated it out there, Kumail responded that while he didn’t believe in ghosts, he does, in fact, believe in aliens. Whoopi really turned the convo up, though, when she shared that not only does she believe in extraterrestrials, she knows for a fact that they’re already here, “watching us.”

While Nanjiani said, “I don’t believe in ghosts, I’ve never had an encounter or anything,” he did bring another intriguing idea to the roundtable.

“I’ll tell you what, I do believe in aliens,” Nanjiani boasted. “I think aliens are circling us, waiting for us to get it together so they can come on down. … I think they’re waiting for us to clean up a little bit so that they can come here and tell us we’re really messing things up.”

That’s when a soft-spoken Goldberg, 68, spoke up and said, “They’re already here. They’ve been here for quite some time.”

A surprised Nanjiani needed clarification, asking, “You think they’re here? What are they doing?”

“They’re watching us,” a very serious Goldberg responded.

Hostin, 55, tried bringing some levity to the situation and joked, “They’re talking to Whoopi.”

Given the nature of the conversation, cohost Sara Haines couldn’t help but bring up Goldberg’s Oscar-winning movie to close out the wild conversation.

“She talks to ghosts, not aliens,” Haines, 46, said. “Duh, the movie was Ghost, not Alien.”

This isn’t the first time Goldberg brought up her belief in aliens. Back in 2023, Goldberg said she already “knew” about their existence before a congressional hearing on UFOs and aliens claimed the U.S. government recovered “nonhuman” remains from space objects.

“I don’t know why everybody else is so surprised. We’re not the only ones in the universe. We’re just not,” Goldberg explained. “There are more things in heaven and Earth that we are aware of, and we have to be aware of, because that is the nature of being an earthling. It’s going to happen, it has happened, and, so far, we’re alright.”

Still, Goldberg did her best to combat any panic about any supernatural beings, instead insinuating that perhaps they just want to be friends.

“I can say I haven’t seen any zapping happen, I haven’t seen things that you see in the movies, so, maybe they’re not adversaries,” Goldberg said. “Maybe they’re just trying to get along!”

[From Us Weekly]

Well, okay then, Whoopi! Tell us more, I am all ears. I’m not kidding when I say that I love hearing first-hand accounts of anything supernatural. When we talked about Kevin Bacon’s haunted shack, I loved hearing everyone’s stories so much. Some of y’all even recommended podcasts and I subscribed to them, so thank you! As far as aliens go, I do believe that there are so many things that we don’t understand about whatever exists outside of or even within our physical world. Like Whoopi said, it’s such a huge universe out there that it’s difficult for me to believe that we’re the only ones within it. It feels arrogant to think that we are. I mean, it would go a long way to explaining Ron DeSantis, #amirite? JK, JK. But seriously now I want to know what exactly Whoopi knows and how she knows it.

If you’re interested in hearing more on the subject of UFOs and aliens, CB covered the Netflix documentary Encounters last year. Definitely check it out if you’re into this topic.

Goldie Hawn: aliens touched my face when I was 20

I’ve made it no secret that I’m fascinated by the paranormal, like ghosts, psychic abilities, dreams, and anything that falls into that broad “Universe-y” category. Well, now we get to talk about another subject that I find fascinating: aAliens!

On a recent episode of Apple Fitness ’s Time to Walk podcast, Goldie Hawn shared that not only does she believe in aliens, she once had an encounter with grey-like beings. Goldie’s contactee experience happened in the mid-1960s, which was a decade full of reports of the UFO phenomena. The Hills were (allegedly) infamously abducted in 1961 and among the first to share their story publicly, which led to tons of reports of UFO and alien activity. According to Goldie, she was asleep in a friend’s car when she was awoken by aliens. During this encounter, they pointed at her and touched her face.

While sleeping in a friend’s car in the California desert after a night of dancing, Hawn, who was then 20, said she was greeted by a “high-pitched sound.” At the time, Hawn recalled there were “a lot” of UFO sightings and stories.

“I looked out the window, and I saw these two or three triangular-shaped heads,” shared Hawn, who described the creatures as being “silver in color” and having a “slash for a mouth” as well as small noses and no ears.

“They were pointing at me, pointing at me in the car as if they were discussing me like I was a subject. And they were droning,” Hawn elaborated, noting that she “could not move. I was paralyzed … I didn’t know if it was real or not real.”

Unable to determine if the experience was real, Hawn soon broke from her trance.

“I burst out of it. It was like bursting out of a forcefield. And of course, I go back to all the kids and stuff, and I went, ‘Oh, my God. I think I made contact with outer space.’”

Years later, she recounted her experience to an astrophysicist at the University of Champaign, Ill., sharing that it unlocked her memories of how “they touched my face. They touched my face, and it felt like the finger of God. It was the most benevolent, loving feeling. This was powerful. It was filled with light.”

Hawn isn’t the only person in her household who claims to have an alien connection. Her longtime partner, Kurt Russell, revealed in 2017 to the BBC that he was the pilot who called in a mysterious mass sighting of UFOs over Phoenix back in 1997. The incident came to be known as the Phoenix Lights UFO sighting.

[From Yahoo]

I was a huge fan of The X-Files when I was growing up, so I’m always interested in hearing or watching stories about UFOs (or UAPs as they’re now referred to) and aliens. I think the universe is too infinite and mysterious for human beings to truly be the only life form that exists anywhere. I don’t know if I believe all of the stories and theories out there, but I have always been particularly fascinated by the whole “ancient aliens” concept. CB watched the documentary Encounters, and it’s shot up to the top of my list, now.

I think Goldie’s story is interesting but also kinda scary! I also had no idea that Kurt Russell claims to be the pilot in the Phoenix Lights incident! It’s interesting that both he and Goldie – like many others who share their stories – didn’t remember their full experiences until something triggered the memory later on. I don’t know if I necessarily believe that those beings come here benevolently, so I wonder if Goldie was given that feeling in order to make her more cooperative or spread some kind of good alien PR. I also wonder if somewhere out there, there’s an extraterrestrial being whose claim to fame on their home planet is that they once touched Goldie Hawn’s forehead.

Aliens Documentaries UFOs

Encounters is a convincing docuseries about mass UFO and alien sightings

Public opinion and reporting around UFO/UAP sightings changed with the pentagon’s release, early in the pandemic, of three videos of Navy pilots encountering UFOs. Navy pilots and high ranking military officials have since gone on the record to recount ongoing encounters with aircraft that defied the laws of physics. There was finally a congressional hearing about UAPs earlier this year, with several navy pilots testifying and the existence of UAPs described as an open secret among commercial pilots.

There are so many stories of everyday UFO sightings and abductions and there are plenty of shows chronicling them. Some of them seem far fetched, Ancient Aliens has a whiff of truth until it veers into wild speculation almost every time. Some, like Unsolved Mysteries, both the original 90s series and the revival, are convincing. I’ve watched plenty and Encounters, a new docuseries on Netflix, has to be my favorite. I’ve only seen the first two episodes. So far I’m sold though and so many other people feel the same. USA today and Dexerto have a good overview and I’m including quotes from both.

Directed by Yon Motskin, each episode of the series produced by Stephen Spielberg’s Amblin Television, Boardwalk Pictures and Vice Studios explores a separate report of a mass sighting in a different part of the world.

Billed in Netflix press materials as a “detective story,” “Encounters” relies on both firsthand accounts and also the testimony of various scientists and military officials to delve into reports of suspected extraterrestrial phenomena. The four episodes feature accounts of strange lights in the sky in 2008 over small-town Texas; Cold War-era submersible crafts lurking near a coastal Welsh village; a non-human intelligence reportedly interfering in 2011 with the operations of a nuclear power plant in Japan; and an alien encounter in 1994 experienced by schoolchildren in Zimbabwe. – USA Today

The stories, which span from mysterious sightings in Texas to an alien interference with a Japanese nuclear power plant, are cut between revelations from military whistleblowers and investigative experts.

With thousands of Netflix fans tuning in, many have shared their praises for the docu-series.

Reaction to Encounters has been strong, with one viewer writing on X/Twitter: “Encounters on Netflix is excellent. Prob the best UFO doco series I’ve seen.”

“Watch a four part documentary called Encounters. Just out on Netflix and directed by Steven Spielberg [sic]. Brilliantly done,” said another, while a third added: “This show Encounters on Netflix is tight.” – Dexerto

[From USA Today and Dexerto]

Just to clarify the last tweet in the quote above, the show is produced in part by Steven Spielberg’s production company. It’s directed by Yon Motskin, who says he believes in UFOs now but did not before making this series. So far I’ve watched the episodes about the 1994 Zimbabwe sighting and the 2008 Texas UFO sightings. Both were witnessed by handfuls of people, many of whom were interviewed both right after the events and for this show. The eyewitnesses are so convincing and you feel for them as they faced ridicule after going public. I’m excited to see the other two episodes!

Other shows that have really changed my opinion on UFOs and aliens are Unsolved Mysteries the revival (Volume 3, episode 2 “Something in the Sky,” Netflix), and Unsolved Mysteries the original (season 4, episode 1, on FreeVee/Amazon Prime and YouTube). The documentary Moment of Contact is also incredible (Tubi). I’m a little more skeptical about the abduction stories but the shows Alien Abduction: Travis Walton (Discovery Plus) and Alien Abduction: Barney and Betty Hill (Discovery Plus) are also very good.

In 1994, over 60 children at a Zimbabwe school claimed to have seen aliens. Years later, witnesses maintain their accounts. Hear their stories and more from around the world in Encounters — now streaming. pic.twitter.com/Av77jXj2ke

Aliens Joe Biden politics UFOs

America shot down three UFOs in three days: what in the world is happening??

Two weeks ago, America was obsessed with the Chinese “spy balloon” floating its way across the continental United States. It was a very weird story – the balloon was being tracked on military radar the whole time, and apparently President Biden ordered the military to shoot down the balloon when it was halfway across the country. They waited until the balloon went over North Carolina, and an F-22 Raptor shot down the balloon just over Myrtle Beach. It was said that the Coast Guard (or whoever) gathered up the remnants of the balloon for intelligence purposes. It was also said that China had been sending spy balloons over America for years, and during the Trump administration, Trump never did anything about them.

Following the mysterious spy balloon, people have simply been paying more attention to the sky. There’s something unsettling about the reality that we’re being monitored in our own airspace, and weirder still, that some of the unidentified flying objects are coming from parts unknown. All of which to say, over the past four days, three UFOs have been shot down over North America. It’s insane.

Pentagon and intelligence officials are trying to make sense of three unidentified flying objects over Alaska, Canada and Michigan that U.S. fighter jets shot down with missiles on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The latest turn in the aerial show taking place in the skies above North America comes after a helter-skelter weekend involving what at times seemed like an invasion of unidentified flying objects.

The latest object had first been spotted on Saturday over Montana, initially sparking debate over whether it even existed. On Saturday, military officials detected a radar blip over Montana, which then disappeared, leading them to conclude it was an anomaly. Then a blip appeared Sunday over Montana, then Wisconsin and Michigan. Once military officials obtained visual confirmation, they ordered an F-16 to shoot it down over Lake Huron.

There are two big questions around the episodes: What were the craft? And why does the United States appear to be seeing more suddenly, and shooting down more?

There are no answers to the first question yet. American officials do not know what the objects were, much less their purpose or who sent them.

For the second, it is not clear if there are suddenly more objects. But what is certain is that in the wake of the recent incursion by a Chinese spy balloon, the U.S. and Canadian militaries are hypervigilant in flagging some objects that might previously have been allowed to pass.

[From The NY Times]

The NYT goes on to say that after the Chinese spy balloon, NORAD adjusted their radar so they could pick up smaller objects, which has led to… all of this. Suddenly, NORAD is seeing all of these UFOs. And I’m not using “UFOs” to mean that all of these flying objects are alien aircraft. I’m saying that they are truly “unidentified” and the government isn’t giving us any explanations (yet) for what the f–k is going on. I’m not naive – I get that everyone is spying on everyone. I get that foreign governments are monitoring North America. I get that the American government monitors its own citizens. But this whole “three UFOs have been shot down in three days” thing feels very different. Right??

Did y’all watch that Unsolved Mysteries episode “Something in the Sky,” all about the UFO sightings in Michigan in 1994? That’s what I kept thinking about this weekend. What if… these are really aliens?

Demi Lovato on believing in aliens: ‘People look at me like I’ve lost my marbles’

242767625_1183035082180579_8426266262074583050_n

I know a lot of people don’t like Demi Lovato but they’ve really grown on me since coming out as nonbinary and educating people on what that means. Back in May, Demi did an interview with a nonbinary artist called Alok Vaid-Menon where they both explained what it’s like to be a nonbinary person and how people can be more supportive. I came away with a better understanding of nonbinary people and am grateful to Demi for that.

Demi has a new show on Peacock called Unidentified, which is a docuseries also starring Demi’s older sister and Demi’s best friend. It’s getting good reviews. Demi has a long history of being open about their belief in mermaids and extraterrestrials. I’ve covered interviews Demi did with Seth Myers back in 2014 and just last year, where they claim to have made contact with mermaids and aliens through meditation. Demi has a new interview with Seth promoting the show, and it was a joy to watch. While I don’t believe in everything they claim, it’s clear that Demi believes and wants to share that. Demi knows that people are going to assume they’re crazy too. Here’s some of what they said and the video is below:

On meditation and how long they meditate

I use an app sometimes, Insight Timer, which is really good for guided meditations. You can click how long the meditation is that you want to do. Other times I meditate by myself. In the beginning I was really into it and was giving myself 30 minutes. That turned into an hour, an hour and a half. Now it’s back down to like ten minutes.

On what they’re trying to do in this show

To gather evidence, to gather information and try to make the best guess at what it must be that’s out there.

On interviewing experts and people who have had encounters for the show

When I first went in there I was in awe of some of the things I was hearing. It also didn’t make me feel so alone. A lot of times when I tell people that I believe in this stuff they look at me like I’ve lost my marbles and that’s ok, but it was cool to talk to people that also believe in some of the things that I do and realize we’re all in this together.

On if shows like this will make ETs less likely to interact with them

I’ve come to learn that the way to make these interactions with these beings are by expanding our consciousness. Through meditation we actually can make contact a lot easier. It’s been so many times where I’ve been meditating and I looked up and there’s something in the sky. Through meditation you can make that happen yourself.

[From Seth Meyers on YouTube]

Kaiser and I talked about UFOs on our podcast last year, when Kaiser was into Ancient Aliens and coincidentally right before the government released radar footage and audio of possible UFOs. After that, 60 Minutes did a very convincing segment about it. 60 Minutes interviewed high ranking military officials and Navy pilots who went on the record to say that they’ve seen unidentified spacecraft which seemed powered by technology we haven’t developed yet. That sold me!

Meditation has truly changed my life and I highly recommend it. Demi is interpreting the things they see in meditation as real, and they are for Demi. It’s easy for people to dismiss UFOs and unexplained phenomenon when people claim to communicate with otherworldly beings through meditation. Plus shows like Ancient Aliens take possible evidence and spin it to a ridiculous and unbelievable degree. The truth is probably more amazing than we can imagine. Demi truly believes in aliens and mermaids and this is clearly their passion. This was a fun interview to watch and I will give this new show a chance.

Here’s that interview!

Aliens Chris Colfer

Chris Colfer saw a UFO during the day on Santa Monica Boulevard

Chris Colfer saw a UFO. At least he thinks he did. And he has video to prove it. While on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy asked Chris about a recent incident in Hollywood that Chris had in which he claimed to have witnessed a UFO. Apparently, Chris is a huge believer in all things alien so for him, this was everything he’d ever wanted. He’s convinced the very distant, white balloon hovering in the sky, in the middle of the day, was a UFO and Jimmy agrees. I posted the segment below so you can see the video Chris shot but here is what he said about it:

I’m a huge alien paranormal conspiracist. It’s like my hobby. I love that more than anything else in the world. I was in Hollywood and I was walking down Santa Monica Boulevard [in the] middle of the day. I just saw this thing hovering in the sky. I remember looking up and [thinking] like ‘this can’t be real. I want this too much.’ I whipped out my camera. It was a cylinder shape it was not moving with the wind, it was moving like a dog’s tail. [demonstrates] It was happy to see me. It wasn’t a balloon because it was very bottom heavy. I got a video of it. [shows video, audience laughs] Very creepy. I sent it to everyone I knew. Everyone was like ‘aw Chris, congratulations, you’ve been working for this for so long.’

[From YouTube]

After watching the video, I have no idea what Chris saw. I doubt it was extra-terrestrial. My bet is some store display that became untethered. Although, if aliens were going to show up in the middle of the day, they would likely be attracted to Santa Monica Blvd in Hollywood. But if I wanted something to be a UFO, that’s exactly what I would have seen as well. I don’t know that I believe in aliens. But I want to believe in the supernatural, so I see that in a lot of things that probably aren’t. And like Chris’ friends, mine play along too. They say “ooh” and “aah” like what I described freaked them out as much as it did me.

What legitimately freaked me out was that Chris was on Tonight to promote his 18th book! I had no idea he’d written any books, let alone 18. He’s 31 years old. I promise to be happy for him as soon as I stop feeling like an utter failure in his shadow. Chris did say he was taking a break and the story he told as to why was really funny. He said a guy in a bar tried to buy him a drink and chat him up. The guy said he loved Chris’ books and remembered reading them “as a kid.” Chris said asked how that was possible since the first one only came out nine years ago. The guy said yes, he’d read it when he was 11 and Chris just about lost it. He’s entertaining as hell. I need to watch more of his interviews.

Marvel drops the full-length trailer for ‘The Eternals,’ aka Marvel’s Ancient Aliens

jolie eternals7

I’m still so confused about The Eternals! The full-length trailer was released on Monday and while it answers some questions, I feel like the story is possibly based on several episodes of Ancient Aliens! The premise behind so many episodes of Ancient Aliens is that humanoid aliens came to earth in the early days of humanity and they taught early humans how to live better, like with math, science, plumbing, irrigation and architecture. Does that not look like the plot of The Eternals?

So the Eternals never interfered during world wars and global famines and genocides. They never interfered when the Avengers were doing their sh-t for years. But now, suddenly, they’re interfering. For reasons! From what we can see of the characters, they look pretty cool. Gemma Chan is seriously one of the most beautiful women in the world and being able to see her on the same Marvel team with Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek is going to be pretty special. Did you catch a glimpse of Jon Snow/Kit Harington as well? He plays Black Knight, hm. Of course there’s Richard Madden (Ikaris), Kumail Nanjiani (Kingo), Brian Tyree Henry (Phastos) and Ma Dong-seok (Gilgamesh??!)

So… yeah, Marvel will get my money on this one. I’m a sucker for Marvel’s Ancient Aliens.
