Bruce Springsteen: ‘Kanye West is Incredible’

Bruce Springsteen is The Boss, and what he says goes. He knows music, and he knows what he likes. That turns out to be Kanye West, who Bruce describes as “incredible”. He had a lot to say about Yeezus in a new interview with NPR – have a read.

“[He] is incredible. I mean, the record-making facility, there’s a lot of hours in those records. And I saw him on television, he did the song called ‘Blood on the Leaves’ on Later… With Jools Holland – it was fantastic, you know.”

“I still find him very interesting. I’m not necessarily driving [to] it in my car, you know. I probably fall back on the stuff that I listened to as a kid or something if I’m driving around. But I do listen. I listen to [it] a lot because there’s a lot of information in it and it’s just fascinating record-making.”

I’m with Bruce on Kanye’s musical talent – the guy is a great producer and has some really interesting artistic ideas. It’s just too bad that he’s a megalomaniacal egomaniac with a fleeting grip on reality. That tends to overshadow any actual artistic work he’s doing lately, and that’s a shame.

Also, I love Bruce Springsteen. Nothing else to say about that, I just think he’s amazing.

Kanye West Goes On Jimmy Kimmel, Proclaims Himself a Genius (Again)

Kanye West and Jimmy Kimmel have been having major drama – like 6th grade girls fighting over a mutual crush drama – but they decided to try and awkwardly bury the hatchet on Jimmy’s show on Wednesday night. Kanye appeared and not only sorta kinda apologized for maybe overreacting just a tiny bit, but also felt the need to proclaim his own genius yet again and came off just as egotistical as ever.

In case you have no idea what any of this is about, allow me to catch you up quickly: Kanye did that balls-t0-the-wall insane interview on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show, which got tons of attention around the world, and not necessarily the best kind, either. Jimmy was one of the people who made fun of the interview, and Kanye lost his damn mind over Jimmy’s jokes and that’s where we are.

On Jimmy’s show last night, he outright told Kanye that he brings a lot of criticism on himself because he does very often come off like a jerk, which led Kanye on this rant:

“I was really vocal about a lot of things that I’ve been dealing with over the past ten years when I was put in the classification of ‘just a celebrity’.

“I’m a creative genius and there’s no other way to word it. I know you’re not supposed to say that about yourself. I say things the wrong way a lot of times, but my intention is always positive.”

“If you guys look at the Zane interview, it’s really something extremely fearless for someone in my position to do, because most people bow down to TV and bow down to these cameras.

“I couldn’t care less about any of these cameras in all honesty. All I care about is my family, I care about protecting my girl, my baby and protecting my ideas and my dreams and that’s why I went so crazy.”

“I’m totally weird and I’m totally honest and I’m totally inappropriate sometimes, and the thing is, for me to say I wasn’t a genius, I would just be lying to you and myself. You gonna love me? You gonna hate me? But I’m gonna be me.”

Well, that’s that, I guess. I’m not quite sure of Kanye is legit suffering from delusions of grandeur, if he’s “faking it til he’s making it” (unlikely) or what his deal is, but he needs to just stop.

First part of the interview is below – click through for the subsequent parts (why they didn’t just put it in one video is beyond me, but there you have it):
