Kanye West Used Sex, Alcohol and God to Get Over the Taylor Swift Incident

taylor swift kanyew est

The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards may have been nearly five years ago, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still talk about that fateful day when Kanye West dared to interrupt Taylor Swift‘s acceptance speech by insisting that Beyoncé had the greatest video of all time? In a new interview with Steve McQueen for Interview, Kanye reflected on how he got over such a difficult time, especially with all the backlash he received.

MCQUEEN: But there must have been moments of doubt or depression or sadness. I mean, with what happened after the Taylor Swift incident [at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards] and all the negativity that came your way as the result of that. How did you deal with it all mentally, physically, and spiritually?

WEST: It’s funny that you would say “mentally, physically, spiritually” because my answer before you even said that was going to be “god, sex, and alcohol.”

MCQUEEN: People can get lost in all of those things. So how did you arrive where you are now after coming through that period?

WEST: Well, I don’t have an addictive personality, so that means that I can lean on what might be someone else’s vice just enough to make it through to the next day. You know, just enough religion, a half-cup of alcohol with some ice in it and a nice chaser, and then …

MCQUEEN: A lot of sex. [both laugh]

WEST: Yeah—a lot of sex. And then I’d make it to the next week.

Well, that’s… lovely. However, it wasn’t even the weirdest part of his interview. The weirdest part was when he compared being famous to space exploration:

MCQUEEN: I hate to put a stereotype on any profession, but there seems to be a certain loneliness associated with being a musician. Do you ever feel lonely?

WEST: Well, I’ve got my astronaut family. You know, becoming famous is like being catapulted into space—sometimes without a space suit. We’ve seen so many people combust, suffocate, get lost in all these different things. But to have an anchor of other astronauts and to make a little space family … I mean, it’s not like I’m the guy in The Hunger Games [2012] begging for people to like me. I’m almost the guy with the least amount of “likes.” I wanted a family. So god gives you opportunities, and you make sacrifices for something that’s greater.

All in all, this is one of Kanye’s sanest interviews, which I know isn’t saying much but it is at least an interesting look inside the mind of a delusional egomaniac. Well worth the read, but be warned – it’s a LONG one.

Kanye West Thinks Kim Kardashian Is Marilyn Monroe

kim kardashian kanye west

I long ago ran out of words for both of these idiots, but Kim Kardashian and Kanye West continue to prove what major morons they are on a daily basis. Kanye’s most recent foray into absolute fuckery was his claim that Kim is exactly like Marilyn Monroe because they’re both controversial. Uh… say what?

From his interview on Power 105′s The Breakfast Club:

“I have a love-hate relationship with the paparazzi, but actually I love them because they are empowering us.

“They are empowering us over Vanity Fair that want to say that Kate Upton is Marilyn Monroe. Kate Upton ain’t Marilyn Monroe, Kim is Marilyn Monroe. You know that. She was controversial; she’s controversial.

“This is the reality. I’m living inside of a dream world.”

LMAO, oooookay. I want some of what this motherfucker’s smoking, because that’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. I mean, Kate Upton’s not Marilyn Monroe, either, but I also have never heard anyone say that, so who knows where he got that from.

Kanye West Lost His Mind Again, Claims He’s William Shakespeare

sway kanye west

I really want to like Kanye West. I want to believe that what he’s saying makes sense, that he’s a powerful symbol for the black community and an inspiration for others that the struggle is worth it. Perhaps he is – to be honest, it’s not my place to say either way – but what I will say is that it’s a shame that so much of his message, or what I think he means his message to be, get lost in his megalomaniacal rantings and delusions of grandeur. It seems like not a day goes by that we’re not talking about some bullshit he’s doing, and today is no exception.

First of all, he had an interview with Sway on his Shade 45 morning show that turned into an utter disaster. A hilarious disaster, but a disaster nonetheless. Please let’s all keep in mind that Kanye and Sway have been friends since wayyyyy back in the day, like when Kanye was only Jay-Z’s producer and nobody at all to speak of. The way Kanye lost his mind when Sway asked a legitimate question is… beyond. The two were talking about fashion lines and it all went downhill from there.

Oh, dear. You can listen to the whole thing here and it’s well worth a listen – he screams “I am Shakespeare!” and continues to declare his own genius and rants about… I don’t even know anymore.

However, there’s an up side to this. Kanye rolled into Hot 97 and got called out by Charlemagne, one of the hosts there. Basically, Charlemagne called him narcissistic and egotistical to his face and the results are AMAZING. Part one is below (with links to the other parts within it). Oh, Kanye. What are we gonna do with you?

Kanye West Is Reclaiming the Confederate Flag

Givenchy: Front Row - Paris Fashion Week Womenswear Fall/Winter 2012

Kanye West thinks he’s sooooo fucking clever and revolutionary, doesn’t he? In reality, he’s a megalomaniacal egomaniac with delusional tendencies and he needs to get his life together. His most recent concoction is the idea of “reclaiming” the Confederate flag and putting it on t-shirts and other apparel items that he’s going to sell to the public. I can’t make this up, people.

From 97.1 Amp Radio:

“React how you want. You know, the Confederate flag represents slavery in a way. That’s my abstract take on what I know about it, right? So I made the song ‘New Slaves’, so I took the Confederate flag and made it my flag. It’s my flag now. What you going to do? Ain’t nothing going to happen.”

“I’m the number one most influential person on the globe in fashion. I should have backing from one of the majors. I’m doing T-shirts that are amazing. We put all our design into it. People like T-shirts, and I love that. I want to give people T-shirts. But I also want to create entire gems.

“I want to make a gem, I want to make a store, I want to do apartment complexes, I want to build cities, I want to be involved in Hyperloop when it comes into reality. That’s the conversation I want to be in, so I will not be held into a box of being a musician.”

I mean… I’m all for reclaiming shit and processing it however feels best for you, but this is just ridiculous. Also, the fact that he thinks he’s the most influential fashion person in the world makes me have this response: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah, okay, Kanye. You’re more influential than Karl Lagerfeld and Alexander McQueen or, you know, anyone ACTUALLY IN FASHION. Sure, people might look at what he does, but they aren’t basing next season’s designs around it.

Kanye West Goes On Jimmy Kimmel, Proclaims Himself a Genius (Again)

jimmy kimmel kanye west

Kanye West and Jimmy Kimmel have been having major drama – like 6th grade girls fighting over a mutual crush drama – but they decided to try and awkwardly bury the hatchet on Jimmy’s show on Wednesday night. Kanye appeared and not only sorta kinda apologized for maybe overreacting just a tiny bit, but also felt the need to proclaim his own genius yet again and came off just as egotistical as ever.

In case you have no idea what any of this is about, allow me to catch you up quickly: Kanye did that balls-t0-the-wall insane interview on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show, which got tons of attention around the world, and not necessarily the best kind, either. Jimmy was one of the people who made fun of the interview, and Kanye lost his damn mind over Jimmy’s jokes and that’s where we are.

On Jimmy’s show last night, he outright told Kanye that he brings a lot of criticism on himself because he does very often come off like a jerk, which led Kanye on this rant:

“I was really vocal about a lot of things that I’ve been dealing with over the past ten years when I was put in the classification of ‘just a celebrity’.

“I’m a creative genius and there’s no other way to word it. I know you’re not supposed to say that about yourself. I say things the wrong way a lot of times, but my intention is always positive.”

“If you guys look at the Zane interview, it’s really something extremely fearless for someone in my position to do, because most people bow down to TV and bow down to these cameras.

“I couldn’t care less about any of these cameras in all honesty. All I care about is my family, I care about protecting my girl, my baby and protecting my ideas and my dreams and that’s why I went so crazy.”

“I’m totally weird and I’m totally honest and I’m totally inappropriate sometimes, and the thing is, for me to say I wasn’t a genius, I would just be lying to you and myself. You gonna love me? You gonna hate me? But I’m gonna be me.”

Well, that’s that, I guess. I’m not quite sure of Kanye is legit suffering from delusions of grandeur, if he’s “faking it til he’s making it” (unlikely) or what his deal is, but he needs to just stop.

First part of the interview is below – click through for the subsequent parts (why they didn’t just put it in one video is beyond me, but there you have it):
