Jennifer Aniston’s mother Nancy Dow passed away back in May. I actually covered it at the time because Nancy Dow was an actress at one point, and because Aniston and her mom had a very public falling out back in the 1990s. Aniston would occasionally reference her mother in interviews, giving updates about the state of their relationship. From what I remember of Aniston’s interviews over the years, she let Nancy back into her life circa 2005, but there were still significant rifts between mother and daughter. Still, Aniston apparently paid her mom’s bills, especially after Nancy’s health declined over the past five years especially. And after all of that… Nancy Dow didn’t leave her daughter anything in her will, apparently. Not only that, Nancy left her “private writings” about Jennifer to someone else, someone who will likely sell the material. In its latest issue on newsstands now, an insider tells In Touch magazine that Jennifer Aniston’s late mom Nancy Dow, bequeathed her home, all of her money and other personal items — including scores of personal writings about Jen — to another relative. Nancy, who died at 79, “changed her will about a year ago, and no one in the family knew a thing about it,” the insider tells In Touch exclusively. “Even though Jen and Nancy had a very strained relationship, Jen still paid almost all of Nancy’s bills in her final years,” says the insider. Jen famously stopped talking to Nancy in 1996 after she gave an interview about her daughter to the tabloid TV show Hard Copy. Three years later, the rift widened after Nancy wrote — against Jen’s wishes — about their painful falling-out in the tell-all From Mother and Daughter to Friends: A Memoir. Instead of paying Jen back after her death, “Nancy left the relative her condo and more than a million dollars that she’d saved. She was a penny-pincher, and the alimony she received from Jen’s dad, John [Aniston], was pretty much never touched.” Even worse, Nancy left all of her private writings to the relative. “Nancy wrote down everything about Jen, and that material is now in the hands of someone who could profit from it,” the insider tells In Touch. [From In Touch Weekly] If this is true – and I think it’s probably true – this should answer all of your questions about Jennifer and Nancy’s estrangement. Even in death, Nancy Dow was trying to stick it to her daughter. It’s so nasty, passive-aggressive and ridiculous, it’s almost funny in a very dark and f—ked up way. I mean, Aniston doesn’t need her mother’s money or her estate, but if Aniston was paying her mother’s bills (which I also think is true), then this is just one final screw-you from mother to daughter. How would you take it if your own mother treated you like that, up until the very end? Embed from Getty Images Photos courtesy of Getty, Fame/Flynet.
No one ever said that being a parent would be easy. But at least it can be funny. We'd like to thank the following mothers for keeping their sense of humor, even among the most stressful/crazy/messy times… 1. I Said DINNER IS READY! You will eat, dammit! 2. Communication Issues This is not as funny as it sounds when you’re the parent involved. 3. Point, Mom Got a retort, Daughter? 4. Can It Be a Life Sentence? Or at least, like, a six-hour sentence? 5. Lesson Missed But it’s all worth it… right?!? 6. There’s No Application Process Just a drinking game or two. View Slideshow
I’ve never been a die-hard Madonna fan. I liked her for many years, and if I have a reason to defend her, I will. But this current incarnation of Madonna is just really uncomfortable. Her appearance at the Met Gala was really messy, and when she tried to speak to the reporters, her face could barely function because she’s had so much work done. She’s clinging to her youth, absolutely. But even more than that, it’s like she’s clinging to this idea she has of herself, that she’s always going to be the most important, the most notable, the most scandalous and the most discussed person in the room. And is that the reality? People were discussing her Met Gala appearance, absolutely. But did she “scandalize” anyone? Or were we just like, “Oh, God. Please put it away”? Page Six says that Madonna and her people demanded that all other celebrities clear off the gala red carpet while Madonna strutted her butt cheeks. Ugh. A-listers, make way for Madonna. The Queen of Pop, squeezed into a peculiar posterior-baring bondage outfit, halted the red carpet at the Met Gala for her arrival. A source tells us, “Madonna cleared the red carpet to make her big entrance, even though she was not really dressed. All these A-listers had to wait for Madonna, who insisted on having the carpet to herself, to have her pictures taken.” Those held up and forced to wait on line while Madge did her thing included Katy Perry, Kim and Kanye, Naomi Campbell, Solange and all the designers. The source added that things got funny when Perry got impatient and started yelling out at limelight-loving Madonna, “Are we ready now? Can we go?” [From Page Six] Madonna making Kanye West wait is… appropriate. But pulling “rank” like that at the Met Gala is just so cheesy, especially in Madonna’s situation these days (her Sad Clown act) and especially considering her Givenchy ensemble was absolutely ridiculous. Oh, and Joan Collins (of all people) had some mean words to say about Madonna: “I thought it was a costume party, Halloween look, but it’s the Met Ball which is supposedly one of the most glamorous and fashionable events and I thought that the bottom thing coming out was a bit over the top… I am the least ageist person… if you want to do that, be prepared to be made a figure of fun because I don’t know anybody who hasn’t been laughing about it.” [From Express] Is this how Madonna “scandalizes” these days? By being the joke, by being laughed at, by being thought of as out-of-touch? It’s almost enough to make me feel sorry for her. But then I look at these photos – where Madonna looked like she was soaking up the flashes – and I don’t feel sorry for her. Photos courtesy of WENN.
Jennifer Garner timed her Vanity Fair cover so that it came out on the Friday right before the Oscars. The last time she was at the Academy Awards was in 2014 when she was a presenter, and Affleck was her date. (That was the year following his 2013 win for Best Picture, for Argo.) This year she was a presenter again and she flew solo. So she wanted people to know about it, so she got some publicity ahead of the Oscars. It’s also interesting to me that Garner’s publicity blitz for her Christian movie, Miracles from Heaven, out March 16th, comes as Affleck is furiously trying to promote Batman v. Superman, out March 25th. Warner Brothers is said to be running scared because Deadpool changed the entire superhero genre with an insanely successful dirty, funny R-Rated movie made on a $58 million budget. Batman v. Superman is an old school dark superhero movie that looks like it takes itself too seriously. It may also end up being the most expensive movie ever made. Just a few months ago we heard that the production budget was up to $410 million. So there’s a lot riding on Batman v. Superman, including Affleck’s career. He wrote it after all. You get the sense that Garner is trying to steal his thunder, which I don’t blame her for. It’s clever, she’s not being openly disparaging of him despite the digs she got in during her interview and she’s getting her side of the story out there. Radar claims that Affleck’s team is livid about her VF interview because Garner confirmed that Affleck was with the nanny – even though she tried to soften the blow by saying they were separated at the time. They quote a source who claims Affleck and his team are “furious,” but that he “can’t do anything until after his movies come out.” He also has Live by Night slated for release, but Radar is wrong, it’s not out until 2017. So maybe that’s all conjecture, but it’s hard to see how Affleck’s people would sign off on Garner’s VF interview. In the latest news about these two, Affleck has a contest through Omaze which offers a ride in the Batman to the film’s premiere to a random person who donates to his charity, The Eastern Congo Initiative. He visited Warner Brothers Studio tour and surprised fans with a ride in The Batmobile. You can see that video here, it was actually really cute. Meanwhile Vanity Fair has released a video of Jennifer Garner reading Go The F-k To Sleep in her saccharine sweet way. This book came out in 2011 and yet another celebrity reading it seems hackneyed. I really do get the impression that she’s competing with him now, and that she’s going to show him that she can fight back and come out of it smelling like roses.
