Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi celebrated their first wedding anniversary this past May. Time flies! It feels like it was just yesterday that we got word that they’d gotten engaged while on vacation. Remember when Millie (and their dog, Winnie the Poodle) confessed that Jake proposed while they were deep sea diving and almost lost the ring? Good times.

Over the last year, Millie has been very open about how much she couldn’t wait to become a mother. Well, the wait is over! On Thursday, Millie and Jake announced via Instagram that they welcomed their first baby together, a “sweet baby girl.” We don’t have any other information about their daughter other than they adopted her this summer.

The Stranger Things star, 21, and her husband Jake Bongiovi, 23, have welcomed their first baby together via adoption, announcing the news on Instagram on Thursday, Aug. 21.

“This summer we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption. We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy,” she wrote in the post. “And then there were 3.”

This past March, the actress opened up about growing her family with Bongiovi while appearing on an episode of the Smartless podcast. At the time, the actress said she’s really looking forward to becoming a mom. “My mom actually had her first child at 21, and my dad was 19. And you know, it’s been my thing since before I met Jake,” Brown said. “Since I was a baby, I told my mom, like, baby dolls. I wanted to be a mom just like the way my mom was to me.”

“And my nan, my grandmother is, she was a huge part of my life. And so, yeah, I mean, Jake knows how important it is to me and, of course, I want to focus on really establishing myself as an actor and as a producer, but I also find it’s so important to start a family for me personally,” she went on. “It’s a huge thing. Jake was like, we cannot do that until we get married. So that was his thing.”

Congrats to Millie and Jake! I’m sure they are completely over-the-moon, and I hope they enjoy every single moment with their baby girl. Millie and Jake haven’t shared any other info, like her name or birthday. I respect the Bongiovis’ decision to keep their daughter’s information private. I bet we won’t find out anything in an official capacity for a while. I hope it ends up being on their own terms, though. They’re both very close with their families, so in addition to resources, finances, and stamina, MBB and Jake will have plenty of support and guidance as needed. Speaking of family, Millie and Jake’s new arrival also means that Jon Bon Jovi is officially a grandpa, y’all.

Also, Millie becoming a parent is making me feel so old! She was literally 12 years old when we were first introduced to her as Eleven in Stranger Things! She’s had her first kiss, gone through puberty and the teenage years, starred in a whole other franchise, gotten married, and now has a child. Meanwhile, Stranger Things *still* hasn’t released their final season. That’s just craziness, right?

Millie Bobby Brown still shops at Target and carefully considers large purchases

Millie Bobby Brown has been very visible lately, and it’s not just because of her new platinum blonde hair. Her movie with Chris Pratt, The Electric State, premiered on Netflix on March 14, which prompted the recent flurry of appearances, including covering the March issue of Vanity Fair. In that interview, Millie — who married Jake Bongiovi last May when she was 20 and he was 22 — talked about conversations she and Jake had when they got together. Things like making sure they were aligned on politics, values, and their career and family goals. It seems there’s one area, though, where they agreed to be opposites: money! On a recent episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, Millie shared how wildly different financial backgrounds have shaped their contrasting spending habits. While Jake grew up with Bon Jovi money, Millie’s family had very little before she landed Stranger Things. The experience left such an impact that to this day, Millie still shops for basics at Target and Amazon, and carefully considers large purchases.

Millie Bobby Brown still remembers what it was like to have financial insecurity.

The 21-year-old “grew up with no money” before receiving the life-changing call that she had been cast on Netflix’s “Stranger Things.” In an appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Brown said that her upbringing has had a profound effect on how she thinks about her finances.

“I have a money thing where I’m very conscious about money,” she said. “When I do spend money on something, I have to call my parents, I have to think about it, I don’t just buy it right away.”

That’s not because money is in short supply. The “Electric State” star was reportedly earning $10 million per film as early as 2019 and has a “ridiculously lucrative” overall deal with Netflix, according to Puck.

But just because she has the money doesn’t mean she has champagne tastes. Compared to her husband Jake Bongiovi — son of musician Jon Bon Jovi — Brown said she is very thrifty.

“I’ll be like, ‘Oh, I need socks,’ and he’ll be like ‘Let’s go to Prada,’” she said. “And I’m like ‘Let’s go to Target.’”

“He loves to go shopping,” she continued. “He will refuse to pack a suitcase because he likes to go shopping in the place we’re going. Whereas I like Amazon Basics. I love that.”

Indeed, when Brown wanted to make her first big purchase with her Netflix earnings, she said she needed her parents to encourage her to take the plunge and buy the Chanel sunglasses she had her eye on.

…Brown’s strategy of waiting before making a big purchase is in line with advice from experts. To curb impulse shopping, finance podcaster Glen James recommends employing something called the 1% rule: if you want to make a purchase that’s larger than 1% of your gross annual income, wait at least a day before purchasing it.

The 24-hour cool down period gives you time to sit with your decision and determine if you really want the item.

Was I laughing at baby-faced Jake saying, “Let’s go to Prada!” for socks? You bet. Though I’m sure my feet would probably cry out “What have you been doing to us all these years?!” the day I ever get so lucky to don a pair of designer socks, I still say Jake’s lucky to have Millie around to knock some sense into educate him. And I’m not at all surprised their respective financial backgrounds have stuck with them. Kids know their home money situation. My mother and aunt are seven years apart, and they’ve talked to each other a lot about how different each of their childhoods were based on changes in my grandparents’ income. For my part, growing up I always took note of the postcard affixed to our refrigerator that said, “Anyone who lives within his means suffers from a lack of imagination.” So I love it when people (especially women!) talk about money, and will definitely file away that practical tip about waiting a day on a purchase that’s 1% of my gross income. And I’ll pay it forward with a bit of advice that was transformative for me: if you can, try to put 10% of your paycheck into savings. It adds up!

PS — Wait, did Millie really just reveal that Jake basically buys a new wardrobe for each trip? Oh-oh, livin’ on… dad’s royalties.

At the SAG Awards last weekend, Millie Bobby Brown walked her first red carpet as a platinum blonde. I mean, I guess that’s what we’re calling this shade of blonde. No one knows for sure why Millie has changed up her look so dramatically? It could be that she’s just young and experimenting with her appearance. It’s possible that she married a hottie from New Jersey and decided to go full Jersey Girl. MBB’s fans have another theory, that she’s preparing to play Britney Spears in a film adaptation of Britney’s ghost-written memoir, The Woman In Me. I don’t have an answer for this, other than it definitely looks like it’s for a movie, but you never know with Millie. I think she’s still figuring out who she wants to be.

Meanwhile, these are some photos from the Madrid premiere of The Electric State, Anthony and Joe Russo’s latest film. Millie costars with Chris Pratt and a robot. Her husband Jake Bongiovi came to Madrid to support her and they’re a sweet couple. But yeah, that blonde shade does not look any better in these photos. If anything, it looks worse and like she just got her roots done. Millie has access to the best colorists, so who is responsible for THIS?

Meanwhile, people are taking the criticism way too far and Millie has seen some of it. People are saying she looks like a 40-something mob wife (it’s not a lie, but it’s still mean). British Vogue published a piece called “No One Cares How Old You Think Millie Bobby Brown Looks.” Millie reposted the headline and wrote “thank you.” Girl, if you’re reading this, get a new colorist.

Millie Bobby Brown is just 21 years old, she’s newly married and she’s experiencing with her styling. She recently dyed her hair blonde and has been posting vampy photos to Instagram. This look doesn’t suit her, in my opinion, but she’s young and has plenty of time to figure it out. Also – how do I put this delicately – did she get Botox? It really looks like it to me. Millie was in a slink Louis Vuitton pale peach gown at the SAG Awards last night. This color seems to be making a comeback.

Kaitlyn Dever was in a similar color gown, in Elie Saab. The gown is lovely but the color kind of washes her out.

Leighton Meester was also in Elie Saab, in a striking crochet-look strapless column gown. She and Adam Brody are so hot together. Leighton was on stage with Kristen Bell in a bit calling back to her Gossip Girl character.

Sofia Carson got the best Elie Saab, an expertly gathered and tailored peach gown. This is an “I expect to win” gown, but she wasn’t nominated. Sofia was one of the ambassadors to the SAGs along with Noah Centineo. Sofia just starred in Carry On, and that movie was not that great but she was watchable in it. She’s wearing 100 carats worth of Chopard diamonds!

Millie Bobby Brown: ‘Loving someone and being in love are two different things’

2024 was a busy year for Millie Bobby Brown. Her movie, Damsel came out on Netflix last March, she got married to Jake Bongiovi in mid-May, went viral for a bit she did with Sabrina Carpenter during the Short n’ Sweet tour, and finished filming the fifth and final season of Stranger Things in December. Next up for MBB is The Electric State, another Netflix movie that’s directed by the Russo Brothers (not to be confused with ST’s the Duffer Brothers) and co-stars Chris Pratt. The Electric State is based on the 2018 graphic novel by Simon Stålenhag that takes place in a post-apocalyptic America. It drops on March 14.

Millie has the cover story for Vanity Fair’s March 2025 issue. Given her very eventful year, Millie had a lot to talk about. She talked about her marriage, the difficulties of making friends as a famous person, how the press treated her when she was a child star and more. On the effect negative and invasive press has had on her growing up: “I started this really young, and I felt that the press specifically was very, very harsh on me. And so I just like to make sure that I’m advocating for myself…I think, just in general, there should be more laws with the media in terms of paparazzi in terms of exploitation.”

On fame: “I never wanted to be famous…That was never my thing. I just love acting.”

On deleting social media from her phone at the age of 18: “I was like, Oh my goodness, this is making me feel horrible about myself…I deleted it because I was becoming way too obsessed with the idea of becoming someone else.”

On her parents protecting her in the entertainment industry: “I grew up with a lot of eyes on my parents, but I feel that those were the people that protected me the most.”

On struggling with friendships: “I don’t have many friends, because of who I am…I didn’t go to school, so I don’t have the best social skills when it comes to people my own age and friendships. I struggle with that quite a bit. I missed out on a few things. But I’m working through them.”

On the message she sent to Sabrina Carpenter ahead of her concert to “arrest” her during the show: “Can you arrest me?” To which Sabrina responded: “I would love to arrest you.”

On implementing her own adolescent confusion into the identity of her character, Eleven: “Eleven’s identity was a huge thing that we were kind of fighting with. Is she going to dress as a girl? Or is she gonna dress in the shirts of her adoptive father, Hopper? Or is she gonna be what her friends are helping her to be? At that time in my life, I didn’t know what I wanted to look like, if I preferred more feminine looks, more masculine looks, more androgynous, more grunge. So I implemented that confusion.”

On crying while filming the final season of Stranger Things: “I was on set, and I was like, ‘Well, I have one more day left.’ And I started crying. I don’t actually like to cry at work. I’m a really emotional person, but I try to stay super strong. It made me feel so uncomfortable. Jake was like, ‘It’s good, you have to get it out!’ and I just started welling up.”

On the trad wife trend and living on a farm in Georgia: “I’m not doing it for the aesthetic…I’m doing it because I love it. There are maybe some trad wives out there doing it because it seems wholesome, but it is not. If you’re not picking up horse s–t or washing a cow with your bare hands, then that life is not made for you. At all.”

On her relationship with Jake Bongiovi: “We talked about our political views, what kind of family we want to build, the kind of home we want to live in, the kind of relationship we’re looking for, the kind of careers we want. It’s such an important decision, and we wanted to make sure we were making the right one. I knew I was. It always felt right with him.”

On what she has learned so far in their marriage: “Loving someone and being in love are two different things…I think I loved a lot of people I was with, like I loved my friends. But he is the first man I’ve ever loved and been in love with. If we’re not fully invested, then what’s the point? We have to be, and we always have been.”

I’m really impressed by Millie’s responses. The answer about the reality of being a “trad wife” on a farm made me laugh. I don’t have TikTok but I once went down a rabbithole about the trad wife farm thing after seeing a leftie influencer post about it online. Anyway, I really love that she points out that there is a difference between loving someone and being in love. That is something a lot of women struggle to differentiate. It’s also great that she specifically mentioned that she and Jake talked about politics, kids, the type of relationship they’re each looking for, etc. I always assumed that was what everyone did but social media has taught me that it’s not. Let’s normalize this for the young women in Millie’s generation.

I was worried about her after Stranger Things took off and we heard how demanding her father was as her manager. She seems to have grown up to be relatively grounded, and that makes me happy.

Last year, Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi got engaged. They were and are very young, but they seem to adore each other and people were really rooting for them. Back in May of this year, they announced that they had gotten secretly married. Now both Millie and Jake have posted photos of their May wedding in Italy! They did a destination wedding at Villa Cetinale in Italy, and the photos are gorgeous. The bride wore a custom Galia Lahav gown to the ceremony, which looks like a classier, more elegant version of a Dolce & Gabbana gown. MBB also wore vintage Valentino, Vivienne Westwood and de la Renta to the reception and parties.

Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi are sharing a glimpse into their dreamy wedding day! After secretly marrying in May, the couple posted photos on Instagram on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from their celebration at Villa Cetinale in Italy with family and friends.

“Forever and always, your wife,” the actress captioned the carousel, which features photos from their nuptials and Brown’s two stunning bridal gowns.

For the ceremony, Brown wore a custom Galia Lahav gown with intricate lace details. She paired the dress with a sheer veil from Monvieve with the same lace detail, and kept her jewelry and makeup minimal. Later in the evening, she changed into a satin off-the-shoulder gown.

In a press release, Galia Lahav’s head designer Sharon Sever shares that creating Brown’s custom dress was a “true honor.”

“Millie Bobby brought depth & complexity to her iconic role in Stranger Things, and now she brings grace & beauty to her special day in another iconic way,” Sever says. “I can’t wait to see her shine as she steps into a new chapter of her life and wish her and Jake only happiness, love & health for their future together.”

The photos are really beautiful, and Jake really does look like his father, my god. I think Millie is probably too young to understand that Jake reminds everyone of Jon. Anyway, I love that they were able to keep their wedding photos private for so long and that they’re showing them now, on their own terms. She was a beautiful bride!

Millie Bobby Brown loves the holidays. Depending on who you ask, the Christmas holiday season either started on November 1 (cough, Mariah, cough) or right after Thanksgiving. I know some people who have had their trees and decorations up for weeks and others (like us) who are just doing them now. When I was growing up, my parents always got a real tree. When Mr. Rosie and I were first living together back in our dating years, we caused a slight scandal by buying an artificial one. At the time, our reasoning was we were living in an apartment with a rambunctious kitten. I just wanted the convenience of having the fake tree that I didn’t have to water and constantly sweep up needles from.

Fast-forward to 2021 when we ponder, “Should we get a real tree now that we’re in a house?” Well, we have now somehow ended up with THREE Christmas trees in one room. It’s absurd but it’s also quite nice. Anyways, back to MBB. She’s a 19-year-old powerhouse and is engaged to Jon Bon Jovi’s son, Jake. From what we’ve seen publicly, Millie and Jake appear to have a healthy, drama-free relationship. But even they cannot escape the usual holiday disagreements. In their case, they are split between types of Christmas trees. In an interview with Eating Well, MBB shared that she likes fake trees while Jake favors the real ones.

EatingWell: What are your holiday plans looking like?

Brown: I love the holidays, it’s definitely my favorite time of year. [My fiancé] Jake’s more into real trees, I like fake trees. It’s a huge debate in the house. I love hot cocoa and my tea, and I love the fire being on. I love it being freezing cold outside and the puppies and dogs are all comfy and cozy. Winter time is definitely my hibernation time, and I absolutely love being able to just be inside with the family.

It’s so relatable that an otherwise drama-free couple debates what type of tree to have in their home. I’m genuinely curious where everyone stands on the real vs. artificial tree debate! That topic reminds me of the “Bringing Back Christmas” song from the excellent musical, Spirited. As I said above, our quest to get a live tree ended up with us now having three trees. It’s ridiculous but it’s also lovely because each tree represents a different part of us. We have the artificial one that hosts all of the homemade and kitschy ornaments, a real one that we use for “fancy” ornaments, and another tiny real tree that the kids pick out to decorate themselves (and thus far they’ve tried to imitate the fancy tree by picking the tiny ball ornaments and very twinkly lights from Target). I know it’s overkill, but honestly, it makes each of us happy and grateful. To me, that’s what Christmas is all about.
