Newly blonde Millie Bobby Brown wore Louis Vuitton to the SAG Awards

Millie Bobby Brown is just 21 years old, she’s newly married and she’s experiencing with her styling. She recently dyed her hair blonde and has been posting vampy photos to Instagram. This look doesn’t suit her, in my opinion, but she’s young and has plenty of time to figure it out. Also – how do I put this delicately – did she get Botox? It really looks like it to me. Millie was in a slink Louis Vuitton pale peach gown at the SAG Awards last night. This color seems to be making a comeback.

Kaitlyn Dever was in a similar color gown, in Elie Saab. The gown is lovely but the color kind of washes her out.

Leighton Meester was also in Elie Saab, in a striking crochet-look strapless column gown. She and Adam Brody are so hot together. Leighton was on stage with Kristen Bell in a bit calling back to her Gossip Girl character.

Sofia Carson got the best Elie Saab, an expertly gathered and tailored peach gown. This is an “I expect to win” gown, but she wasn’t nominated. Sofia was one of the ambassadors to the SAGs along with Noah Centineo. Sofia just starred in Carry On, and that movie was not that great but she was watchable in it. She’s wearing 100 carats worth of Chopard diamonds!

Emily Blunt in Michael Kors at the Met Gala: goofy or not too bad?

I was looking through Michael Kors’ looks at the previous Met Galas and he’s usually quite good. Ciara wore a zebra print MK gown last year that was amazing and at the fall 2021 Met Gala Regina King had on a pinstriped dress that I loved. He dressed Emily Blunt in 2019 in a scalloped sequin gold gown that I inexplicably liked back then, re-reading what I wrote about it. I think I was tired and being generous. Kors’s designs can definitely be goofy though, like this year when he put Blunt in a lace and black metallic pantsuit with a train. The topper is that ridiculous bow with the flower tacked on to it. I get that the bows were a nod to Lagerfeld, but there were so many fug interpretations of that! Poor Emily, but it’s not like she has great fashion typically so I suspect she was OK with it. During their red carpet interview with Vogue, Kors told an anecdote about Lagerfeld asking him why he’s always so tan. He said he gets out on the sun whenever he can! There’s got to be a lot of makeup involved too.

Kerry Washington got the better MK look, although that bar is low. She was in a lace and tulle fishtail gown with a bandeau top and a tuxedo jacket.

Also in Michael Kors were Lea Michele, Vanessa Hudgens, Camilla Marrone and Kaitlyn Dever. Vanessa , Lea and Kaitlyn were interviewed by La La Anthony and Lea told La La she lived in her old house in New York City and that she gets packages for La La every day. I wonder if they arranged to meet up afterwards for an exchange. My favorite gown out of this group was Vanessa Hudgens’s, but I usually like what she’s wearing.

Julia Roberts tried the Barbiecore trend at the ‘Ticket to Paradise’ LA premiere

I keep thinking that this George Clooney-Julia Roberts movie is called Ticket to Ride, but no, it’s Ticket to Paradise. Should it have been called Ticket to Ride, and maybe they could have licensed the Beatles’ song? Hm. Anyway, after promoting this film for more than a month, the cast came together last night for the big Hollywood premiere. Julia Roberts did something new for this promotional tour: she wore a girly dress. She’s been doing tons of menswear-inspired looks for her appearances, and she’s stayed very covered-up in almost boxy, shapeless looks. Now here she is in the Barbiecore trend, wearing a Greta Constantine gown. While I love seeing Julia try the Barbie-pink trend, this dress is bad! The taffeta, the sleeves, the stupid ruffled skirt. It’s too “prom dress” for 54-year-old Julia. I also think it’s sort of interesting that Julia’s husband Danny Moder hasn’t come out for ANY of the premieres. They generally don’t do red carpets together, but still. PS… Julia’s earrings are Chopard and they are SPECTACULAR.

Meanwhile, Amal Clooney wore a gorgeous Alexander McQueen dress for the LA premiere. She’s strung together several great fashion moments in a row over the past month. I have no idea if she has a stylist or anyone helping her at this point, but there’s been a real improvement. (I hate her shoes though.)

Kaitlyn Dever – who plays Clooney and Roberts’ daughter in the movie – wore Miu Miu. This is cute and age-appropriate and flattering? I wish it was a different color, but it’s fine.

Bonus knocked-up Billie Lourd!

Jessica Chastain in Oscar de la Renta at the Academy Museum gala: fug or fab?

Here are some photos from Saturday night’s Academy Museum Gala. I remember this event last year, it was really nice. The “academy” in question is AMPAS, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, and the now-annual museum gala is a who’s who of Hollywood A-listers. I think this event pretty much marks the beginning of the Oscar season at this point. There were tons of would-be Oscar campaigners getting some face-time with Oscar voters, and getting their names out there.

Jessica Chastain is the reigning Best Actress Oscar winner, and she came out in this lovely Oscar de la Renta caped gown. She looked stunning! I feel like very few women do florals in fall, but she was a breath of fresh air at this event.

Amal and George Clooney came out. Amal wore Del Core and it’s fine. I like the combination of her olive skin with the crisp white and green. I wish her posture was better, she’s always slouching.

Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz, with Nicola in Givenchy. A little bit too conservative and plain, in my opinion. Even if she wanted to go simple and minimalist with the design, I would have gone with a different color. And no gloves.

Lily Collins in Dior. Hilariously bad, from head to toe. I love her (I really do, I think she’s funny/cute) but holy hell, her personal style is outlandishly bad.

Alexandra Daddario in Dior. I actually kind of like this? I wouldn’t wear it, but it’s an elevated sack dress and it looks cool on her.

Kaitlyn Dever in Dior. Like Nicola Peltz, it’s too “old” and conservative for someone so young. I get that these younger women want to veer towards more conservative looks for this event, but this honestly looks like something for Rita Wilson.

Hailey Bieber in Saint Laurent. Man, I dislike cut-outs and “midriff dresses” but whatever. Some women can pull it off and I guess Hailey is coming close. It makes her look really tall (and she’s not that tall).

Mindy Kaling in Naeem Khan, with her date BJ Novak. First of all, Mindy looks incredible – she’s lost weight and this gown is so flattering on her. Second of all, I despise their relationship. I feel like he’s such a user. Hate hate hate.
