Emma Stone wore Louis Vuitton & showed off her new pixie cut at the Globes

Last year, Emma Stone shaved her head for yet another film with Yorgos Lanthimos, this one shooting in Europe. It’s called Bugonia, aka The One Where Emma Stone Shaved Her Head. Emma appeared on some red carpets last year, post-shave, and she wore wigs to hide her new look. But at the Golden Globes last night, Emma debuted the grow-out: a choppy pixie. While I’ll defend Emma for shaving her head for a film, I will never defend a pixie! NEVER. Oh well – it will grow out. At least, I hope she’s in the process of growing it out. Her dress last night was Louis Vuitton. I actually like it?

Rachel Brosnahan in this green Vivienne Westwood dress was one of my favorite looks of the night. I love a redhead in a rich shade of green – Julianne Moore has done this too and it always looks fantastic. The green pendant is lovely too.

I could take or leave Alexandra Daddario’s Vivienne Westwood look, but I’d just like to point out that Alexandra just gave birth to her first child in November. She probably wanted to wear something more covered-up, thus the feathers.

Lil’ Nas X was half dressed in Dior and silver makeup at the Met Gala: amazing or stunt?

Lil’ Nas X was a bejeweled cat at the Met Gala in this Dior look, styled by Pat McGrath. Vogue reports that this look took 9 hours and that the pearls and crystals were sourced from all over the world by a team of people. His body was the main attraction and he looks like a fitness model. I tried to see if he’s talked about his fitness and nutrition and he sort-of has, just saying that he works out a few times a week and that rehearsals keep him fit. He’s also said he has a fast metabolism.

Lil’ Nas just meowed when he was asked about his look! I did lol

Miranda Kerr was also in Dior. She looked absolutely beautiful and I love the way the embroidered beads spread out down the skirt. This is a very staid gown but it works.

Alexandra Daddario was kind of washed out in this nude Dior with scalloped tiers. The coloring is all wrong. Her darker hair is kind of throwing off the look too. She’s so pretty though.

I’m including model Alton Mason, whom I wasn’t familiar with before last night. He’s walked the runway for Chanel. He described this as a Chanel bridal look and I definitely noticed him on the carpet. I loved this. It’s very Lil Nas!

Alexandra Daddario: ‘I’m not the type of girl who’s dreamed of her wedding’

Alexandra Daddario covered a recent issue of InStyle to promote her new series, Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches, which I’ve heard nothing about, good or bad. This is InStyle’s “Self Love Issue,” so it’s not all about work, it’s about her vibes. Daddario’s vibes are pretty good – she’s lived a charmed life and she recently got married in one of the coolest New Orleans weddings I’ve seen. Some highlights from InStyle:

Her career path and her lack of a plan: “I’m not super-strategic. For the majority of my twenties, no one was throwing offers at me. There’s stuff I’ve done that people don’t take super seriously, which is fine, but I’ve always taken my characters seriously, and so I’ve always found something in each project. I take it day by day. I think it’s hard to make plans because you have to adjust them so much. I’m feeling that if you make plans, then you get laughed at by God or whomever. Anything can happen.”

She’s never felt she “made it”: “I never was like, ‘I’ve made it,’ even now I don’t feel like, this is it, I’m good for life now. I’m very, very proud of what I’ve accomplished, and I’m grateful, but it’s a ladder. You’re always sort of trying to figure it out. When you reach a certain age, and you’re still doing it, you go, ‘Well, I’m not going back to Marymount now to get my degree and figure out what to do; this is my job.’”

Her YouTube channel: “I wouldn’t film myself sobbing about a breakup and be like, ‘I can’t handle it anymore. I’m so upset. Why did he do this to me?’ I think there was part of it, not even consciously, but part of it that was like, come on, all this other stuff you see isn’t real. And being ridiculous and weird and strange or a little bit less polished about things, that’s life. We’re all a little weird, so why hide it?”

Her thoughts on intimacy coordinators on sets: “While some people might say that it went from zero to 60 really quickly, I think it was such a long time coming that these things had to happen. And even if some people feel like it’s sort of an overcorrection, I think it’s much better than not doing anything about it. I love having intimacy coordinators and people paying attention to these types of things. And I love seeing more women in front and behind the camera.”

She didn’t expect her Danielle Frankel wedding dress to be a huge hit on TikTok. “I’m not the type of girl who’s dreamed of her wedding, I had no idea what I wanted to wear, but I knew I didn’t want it to be super traditional. I guess I was kind of thinking Meghan Markle.” She said once she found Frankel, she knew something would work. “That was just the one that felt right, and I didn’t overthink it, and I just went with my gut.”

Dressing for herself: “I think as you get older, you get out of your head a bit more, and you get more confident with your decisions, and not dressing for other people; you’re doing it for yourself. And that’s been really freeing.”

[From InStyle]

Her wedding gown deserved to be beloved by TikTokers, it was an awesome dress and it wasn’t cookie-cutter. The whole vibe of her NOLA wedding was gothic-spooky-retro, and her pleated, loose slipdress was a whole mood. I love how much she references her style icon, Meghan Markle. She mentioned Meghan in her Vogue Wedding profile too, it feels like Daddario really has a Meghan moodboard, only it’s not creepy like Kate’s. I understand why she doesn’t feel like she’s made it too – while she has gotten progressively more famous, there isn’t one big role or one big movie where we can say “wow, she arrived!” Maybe White Lotus, but even then… it wasn’t exactly a showcase for her? She’s basically just a jobbing character actress. But that’s cool – that means she’ll always have work.

Danielle Deadwyler in Versace at the VF Oscar party: should have been at the Oscars?

Danielle Deadwyler was notably snubbed for an Oscar nomination despite her moving performance in Till and I guess was not invited to the Oscars. But she did attend the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in Versace. I wish I could say she turned up and showed out, but I really don’t like this. My first thought was she looks like Wilma Flintstone, but I was wrong and she’s actually wearing Fred Flintstone’s colors. I do like the jewelry though. And her subtle makeup and pixie are perfect.

Gabrielle Union in Ralph Lauren was probably my favorite in a sea of sequined black dresses. I always love a deep-V and I like the extra long sleeves here — at first I thought they had thumbholes. Her jewelry, hair, and makeup are on point, as always. And Dwyane Wade is in Prada.

Alexandra Daddario was in Alexandre Vauthier, the blousy version of Gabrielle’s dress. It even had a deep-V in the back! I’m on the fence about this dress — in some photos it looked great and in others it looked a bit like a plastic lawn bag. I love those earrings though.

Halsey gave off goth, witchy vibes in Givenchy. It looks like the gloves are attached to the dress, there’s a ruched front, and here’s another deep-V in the back. You know I love Halsey, but this is boring. Except for the back, I would wear this to work. I’ve seen much better from her, and recently too, which makes this extra bad. Also their cheeks look very snatched.

Halle and Chloe Bailey posed together at the after party. They’re so cute! Halle changed out of her Ariel blue dress into another great dress. This one is a structured liquid gold Maison Yega dress. Or is it silver? It looks different depending on the pic and I love it. And Chloe wore a black sequined one-shoulder/sleeved David Kona dress. The dramatic makeup and feathered bottom remind me of Swan Lake.

Jessica Chastain in Oscar de la Renta at the Academy Museum gala: fug or fab?

Here are some photos from Saturday night’s Academy Museum Gala. I remember this event last year, it was really nice. The “academy” in question is AMPAS, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, and the now-annual museum gala is a who’s who of Hollywood A-listers. I think this event pretty much marks the beginning of the Oscar season at this point. There were tons of would-be Oscar campaigners getting some face-time with Oscar voters, and getting their names out there.

Jessica Chastain is the reigning Best Actress Oscar winner, and she came out in this lovely Oscar de la Renta caped gown. She looked stunning! I feel like very few women do florals in fall, but she was a breath of fresh air at this event.

Amal and George Clooney came out. Amal wore Del Core and it’s fine. I like the combination of her olive skin with the crisp white and green. I wish her posture was better, she’s always slouching.

Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz, with Nicola in Givenchy. A little bit too conservative and plain, in my opinion. Even if she wanted to go simple and minimalist with the design, I would have gone with a different color. And no gloves.

Lily Collins in Dior. Hilariously bad, from head to toe. I love her (I really do, I think she’s funny/cute) but holy hell, her personal style is outlandishly bad.

Alexandra Daddario in Dior. I actually kind of like this? I wouldn’t wear it, but it’s an elevated sack dress and it looks cool on her.

Kaitlyn Dever in Dior. Like Nicola Peltz, it’s too “old” and conservative for someone so young. I get that these younger women want to veer towards more conservative looks for this event, but this honestly looks like something for Rita Wilson.

Hailey Bieber in Saint Laurent. Man, I dislike cut-outs and “midriff dresses” but whatever. Some women can pull it off and I guess Hailey is coming close. It makes her look really tall (and she’s not that tall).

Mindy Kaling in Naeem Khan, with her date BJ Novak. First of all, Mindy looks incredible – she’s lost weight and this gown is so flattering on her. Second of all, I despise their relationship. I feel like he’s such a user. Hate hate hate.

Alexandra Daddario is ‘obsessed’ with Duchess Meghan, she copied Meg’s ring

Earlier this month, we talked about Alexandra Daddario’s New Orleans wedding. I enjoy covering weddings, especially unique weddings like Daddario’s. She definitely had a more Southern-Gothic aesthetic, and I enjoyed the fact that her wedding photos looked like a French Quarter magazine editorial, and that her wedding gown wasn’t some cookie-cutter strapless mermaid dress. Now there’s another reason to enjoy Daddario and her wedding photos: she did a little homage to the Duchess of Sussex. Apparently, Daddario is obsessed with Meghan and her aesthetic, so much so that Daddario chose her “something blue” based on something Meghan wore on her wedding day.

Alexandra Daddario revealed how her obsession with Meghan Markle inspired the “something blue” for her bridal moment. The White Lotus actress and film producer Andrew Form tied the knot in late June at New Orleans’ iconic Preservation Hall. Daddario tells PEOPLE she paired her gorgeous Danielle Frankel dress with a bright blue ring for her “something blue.”

While speaking to PEOPLE about her new Aerie campaign, the Emmy-nominated star, 36, revealed that the ring was actually inspired by the Duchess of Sussex.

“I’m obsessed with Meghan Markle,” she shared. “She wore an aquamarine ring I believe from Princess Diana’s collection. Mine was less fancy, but I had a large blue, aquamarine ring copying Meghan Markle.”

While the Baywatch actress had her heart set on an aquamarine ring, she was “open to anything” when it came to the hunt for the perfect wedding dress. She explained, “I’ve never been the kind of girl who was planning her wedding and knew exactly what she was going to wear. I don’t like to overthink things, I like to just go with my instincts. I don’t want to obsess over clothes too much. I like to just put them on,” she said, adding that Danielle Frankel invited her to try on a bunch of dresses.

“I think it was the third dress I tried on, and I was like ‘I love it!’ I think I tried on one other after that, and they were all great, but this one I just knew. It felt like New Orleans, it felt comfortable and it just was a really perfect fit.” She continued, “It was just one of those things, like girls know when you put on the perfect dress. For me, once I put it on and I knew, I didn’t want to go and try on a million other things.”

[From People]

That’s very cool. When I was looking through her wedding photos a month ago, I didn’t even clock the ring, but I see it now. Meghan didn’t wear Diana’s aquamarine ring to her actual wedding ceremony, Meghan wore Diana’s ring at her wedding reception, when she changed into the backless halter dress by Stella McCartney. Still, it’s cool that Daddario thought “Meghan’s aquamarine!” when she was putting together her wedding look and wanted something blue. It looks to me like Daddario’s ring is an aquamarine as well?

Alexandra Daddario wore a Danielle Frankel dress to her New Orleans wedding

For some reason, I thought Alexandra Daddario was only about 25 years old? She’s 36! She was born in 1986. I know her mostly from White Collar, True Detective Season 1 and The White Lotus. She’s known for being beautiful and having a great figure, but she’s a talented actress too – she does wide-eyed naif really well, and sometimes she plays roles that subvert that trope. She’s actually a born-and-bred New Yorker too, which I also did not know before now. Anyway, Alexandra just got married and I thought people would like to talk about her wedding and see her wedding photos.

The groom is Andrew Form and this is his second marriage. His first marriage was to Jordana Brewster, and they have a son, Julian, together (update: they actually have two sons together, my bad). Andrew’s marriage to Jordana crashed and burned in 2020, and by August 2021, he was engaged to Alexandra. The timeline doesn’t exactly look shady, but I also think Alexandra and Andrew have known each other for many years – he’s a producer, and something is pinging on my drama-radar.

Anyway, Alexandra and Andrew had their wedding in New Orleans. Alexandra is apparently working there on a project, and two of her friends had married in NOLA and she always loved the vibe. So she organized what looked like a pretty simple ceremony, even though her first choice was having a wedding in Italy. Her wedding dress is Danielle Frankel. She chose it because “it felt like it belonged in New Orleans and was the right choice for the Louisiana heat.” It’s really pretty! I like that it’s unfussy yet unusual. You can read the whole Vogue piece plus an extensive editorial here – Andrew saw her in her dress before the ceremony! Bad luck!

The couple was originally going to get married in Italy “but when I got a job in New Orleans I thought of Allie and Jake, and we switched it to New Orleans. It’s a city full of music and life” shares @AADaddario. https://t.co/ADX7a306xo pic.twitter.com/MDC8UGf3ey
