Dwayne Johnson showed off his dramatic weight-loss transformation in Venice

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Emily Blunt were in Venice on Monday to premiere their new film, The Smashing Machine. It was directed by Benny Safdie, and it’s about the real UFC fighter Mark Kerr. Apparently, the Venice audience loved the film, loved The Rock as Kerr and loved Emily Blunt as Kerr’s partner Dawn Staples-Kerr. Venice gave the film and the actors a 15-minute standing ovation.

This is the second time Emily and Dwayne have worked together, and they seem to get along really well. To be fair, Emily seems to be besties with ALL of her costars, but she and Dwayne seemed especially giggly and affectionate with one another. Dwayne has apparently lost something like 60 pounds for this role, and he’s maintained the new physique since the film wrapped. It’s apparently a new thing for him, he wants to be taken more seriously as an actor, and he also had/has some health issues (which he isn’t disclosing with any specificity beyond “gut issues”).

As for Emily…she wore Tamara Ralph Fall 2025 Couture to the big Venice premiere. I’m not really a fan of this design? I always debate myself whether I want to talk about Emily’s cosmetic work too, so all I’ll say is that she doesn’t need all of that and it makes her look much older.

Dwayne Johnson is emotional during the 15-minute standing ovation of ‘THE SMASHING MACHINE’ at Venice Film Festival.

emily blunt Hannah Waddingham Premieres Ryan Gosling SNL

Ryan Gosling & Mikey Day were Beavis & Butthead at ‘The Fall Guy’ premiere

Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt’s new movie, The Fall Guy is out in theaters on Friday, May 3. I’m really looking forward to seeing this movie! It looks like so much fun. As you know, Ryan is fresh off of his amazing Oscars performance of “I’m Just Ken,” as well as an endearing, hilarious stint hosting SNL. The biggest sketch of the night was a skit was called “Town Hall,” which featured Heidi Gardner as NewsNation host Bobbi Moore interviewing Keenan Thompson’s professor character about AI. Mikey Day and Ryan play two attendees who just so happen to look like Beavis and Butthead. The sketch went viral because of Heidi’s reaction to seeing Day in full Beavis costume and facial prosthetics.

I think by now, it’s pretty clear that Ryan is The One to commit to a bit, lol. He has apparently stepped out of his Ken Era and entered his Butthead Era. After walking the red carpet in a mint-green Gucci suit, Ryan changed back into his SNL Butthead costume and walked the red carpet a second time with Day, who was dressed in his Beavis garb. They posed for pictures and did interviews in character as regular guys Jeff (Day) and Dean (Gosling).

It appears Ryan Gosling and Mikey Day reprised their iconic Beavis and Butt-Head characters sooner than fans were likely expecting. The actor was joined by the Saturday Night Live star on Tuesday night at the Los Angeles premiere of Gosling’s latest movie, The Fall Guy. After the Barbie star initially walked the red carpet in a mint-green Gucci suit with his co-star Emily Blunt, Gosling later returned — only this time looking a bit different.

Gosling and Day posed for photos as their live-action depictions of Beavis and Butt-Head, the main characters from the hit ’90s adult animated series. Gosling was seen with a blonde wig and blue shirt with words that read, “Death Rock,” and Day had on a gray shirt with the word, “Skull.”

The duo first debuted the characters during a sketch on SNL on April 13, when the La La Land actor was hosting the sketch comedy show for the third time. The skit instantly became a hit among fans, garnering more than 13 million views on YouTube alone.

In the original sketch, SNL castmember Heidi Gardner played a news anchor interviewing a professor (Kenan Thompson) on the dangers of artificial intelligence. But Thompson’s character had trouble focusing on their conversation because he kept getting distracted by two audience members, Dean (Gosling) and Jeff (Day), who had a striking resemblance to the ’90s cartoon characters. However, Jeff and Dean insisted they didn’t know they looked similar to Beavis and Butt-Head, respectively.

During the skit, when Gardner first turned around to address Gosling, and then Day, she completely broke character, making for an even more memorable moment. The Nice Guys actor also struggled to hold his laughter throughout the sketch.

This is so freaking funny. At one point, Ryan and Mikey crashed an interview that Emily was giving. She played along so well that she had to have known what they were going to do. I wonder whose idea it was and why they ended up doing it. I love how while Ryan is serious about his acting work, he does not take himself seriously at all. It must make doing all of these PR events so much more fun to switch it up with a funny gag. You know Ryan Reynolds is watching all of this and plotting what he can get away with doing at this summer’s Deadpool & Wolverine premiere.

As far as the fashion goes, Kaiser posted about Emily’s sparkly orange Armani dress yesterday. I know the color is controversial, but I really liked the dress! I also really loved Ryan’s original mint-green Gucci suit. It fit him so well and he looked soooo good in it. Co-star Hannah Waddingham was also there in a tailored sky blue Alex Perry suit with matching Louboutins. She looked exquisite as always. I’m someone who favors brightly colored clothing, so I was particularly excited to see how colorful the movie’s three stars were dressed. We need more bright, happy colors this season.

Emily Blunt on working with Ryan Gosling: ‘he’s just so easy peasy to be around’

No rest for the weary Oscar nominees! Fresh off their bejeweled appearances at the Academy Awards on Sunday, Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling showed up for promo duty in Austin on Tuesday for the premiere of their film The Fall Guy at SXSW. I had completely forgotten they did this movie together! Ryan plays a stuntman on a film directed by Emily’s character, and of course there’s romantic history. So that explains some of the chemistry and rapport they had as “Kitty and Ken” at the Oscars, and why they were presenting a tribute to stunt workers. Now it all makes sense! At the premiere this week Emily sat down with People where she talked about hubby John Krasinski being a bit of inspiration for her Fall Guy role, bringing her parents to the Oscars, and having an “easy peasy” time working with Ryan:

Emily Blunt is opening up about the benefits of being married to John Krasinski!

Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at the world premiere of The Fall Guy at SXSW in Austin on Tuesday, Blunt, 41, shared how she was able to lean on her husband’s life experiences to play director Jody Moreno in the movie.

“I am married to a director, I know what it’s like to hold the tempest of the movie in your head and the pressures and being pulled in a million directions,” she tells PEOPLE about understanding her role in The Fall Guy, which is directed by David Leitch and adapted by Drew Pearce from the hit 1980s television drama of the same name.

“I liked her eccentricity, I liked her humanity. She was fun to me. I just loved her,” she adds. “I like that we didn’t do the sort of earnest, serious director. I was keen to show somebody in a situation where she was way over her head and yet she’s incredible and talented.”

Blunt has been married to Krasinski, 44, since 2010. The couple share daughters Hazel, 10, and Violet, 7.

Speaking about her co-star Ryan Gosling, who was also present at the world premiere Tuesday, Blunt tells PEOPLE they “had the best time.”

“I mean he’s just so easy peasy to be around,” she says. “He’s a dream collaborator as well. And that idea of stretching a scene around to see the best idea that wins. He’s so much fun. I just loved it, loved it. It was sad when it was over.”

Blunt’s world premiere comes after she attended the 2024 Oscars on Sunday with her parents Joanna and Oliver, who was also celebrating his birthday.

“They were glowing. They just adored it,” she tells of her parents. “And I think, everyone sees the red carpet pictures and it all just looks so slick and like such a spectacle, but they got to see the chaos that goes on and the three days that lead up to getting you red carpet ready.”

“It was wonderful for them,” she adds. “They got to meet so many of my friends in the industry and they’re fun. They stayed out till midnight.”

Blunt attended her first Oscars ceremony as a nominee after she was recognized for her supporting performance in the evening’s Best Picture winner Oppenheimer.

[From People]

In many ways Emily had an enviable position this awards season, in that she knew she wasn’t going to win so the pressure was off and she could really just enjoy the ride. And it’s great that her parents were able to fly out from England to share the moment with her. I sure hope she had her industry friends serenade her father with “Happy Birthday” at one of the afterparties!

But back to Emily and Ryan! Kitty and Ken! I’m definitely down to see more of these two engaging in playful banter, and we only have to wait until May! The early reviews out of SXSW are pretty rapturous, with Rotten Tomatoes calling the movie “a love letter to stunt performers packed with jaw-dropping action and a surprising amount of heart.” Plus the cast is stacked, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Winston Duke, Hannah Waddingham, and, drumroll please, a new canine actor to fall in love with!! (There can never be too many.) In the trailer alone Ryan shares several scenes with the doggie sidekick, including a car chase in which Ryan tells his four-legged friend to “use your core.” I’m so ready for this movie.

Lupita Nyong’o wore Armani to the VF Oscar party: sleek & beautiful?

Lupita Nyong’o went to the Oscars AND the Oscar parties with her Quiet Place 2 costar, Joseph Quinn. So, I actually had the impression, from their general vibe, that Quinn was pretty young and Lupita was basically showing him the awards-season ropes as sort of a mentor figure. Turns out, Quinn is 30 years old! He’s been around Hollywood for years! While this was probably his first time at the Oscars, he’s not some ingénue. Anyway, at the VF Oscar party, Lupita switched it up and wore a different Armani Privé look. I love the dress and I love the pop of blue eye shadow too. Beautiful.

Cardi B turned up to the VF party in this great vintage Versace. She loves fashion and she looked like she was having a ball. Did she end up getting back together with Offset? Or was she acting single and ready to mingle at the party?

Anya Taylor Joy in Miss Sohee. This is so fun and silly. Bring back silly headpieces and high-fashion helmets!

Michelle Yeoh in Balenciaga. She looks like a rich widow who avoided charges in the mysterious death of her husband (I would watch that movie).

Emily Blunt in custom Dolce & Gabbana. Fantastic look, so much better than her Oscar dress.

Lindsay Lohan in Balenciaga. She came to the VF party with her husband Bader Shammas, in what I think was their first big red carpet together. They honestly look really happy together and Lindsay looks happy and healthy. I hope that’s the case.

Meryl Streep reunited with her ‘Devil Wears Prada’ ladies Emily Blunt & Anne Hathaway

One of the few things we heard ahead of the SAG Awards was that there would be a reunion for the three women of The Devil Wears Prada. It’s sort of weird to think that no one has put Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt together on stage in all of these years, but it finally happened. Meryl even wore Prada to the SAGs, and she was joined by Emily and Anne, who brought out her glasses and the envelope. ACTING! Anne even wore cerulean blue, a reference to that scene. This was adorable and I love that all three women were up for it.

Emily Blunt wore Louis Vuitton, btw – it was a simple look and it worked. Emily also picked up a SAG Award as part of the Oppenheimer ensemble.

Emma Stone also wore Louis Vuitton – this is basically the only good thing she’s worn throughout the entire awards season. Which means her Oscar dress is probably going to be a trainwreck.

Emily Blunt wore Elie Saab to the 2024 BAFTAs: kind of ’80s & fabulous?

Every season, I look at the Elie Saab runway photos and I always think “I hope all of these gowns show up during the awards season” and then so few of them do. Elie Saab just seems like the obvious, no-drama choice for women who don’t give a sh-t about wearing the most avant-garde looks – almost always flattering and pretty, easily customized and sparkly. Why not? Well, Emily Blunt felt that way – she wore Elie Saab couture at the BAFTAs. It’s giving Dynasty, right? The bell sleeves, the sparkles, the jewelry, the hair – like a soap star in the 1980s. I kind of adore it.

Bryce Dallas Howard in New Arrivals by İlkyaz Özel. Oof. The dress should have been longer and the shoes are wrong. She looks uncomfortable in it too.

Dua Lipa in bespoke Valentino. Arguably one of the best-dressed of the night. Dua’s style has lowkey gotten SO good in the past year.

Hannah Waddingham in Oscar de la Renta. I like this? Right amount of drama, one of the more flattering mullet dresses, and I’m fine with the shade of navy. My one quibble is that the netting on the skirt should not be that prominent.

Emily Blunt was picking up dog poop when she got her Oscar nomination

As soon as the Oscar nominations came out, the PR machine behind Oppenheimer made sure leading man and newly-minted Best Actor nominee Cillian Murphy spoke to the press about what he was doing and how he was feeling when he got the good news. He was in Ireland enjoying his mother’s sponge cake, and the unsaid but apparent emotion he was feeling was dread at having to do more of the non-acting part of his job. Now a couple weeks later, his costar Emily Blunt is sharing her story. Talking to Josh Horowitz in New York this week, Emily deployed every ounce of Englishness she has as she described her whereabouts when she learned she’d gotten the first Oscar nomination of her career:

While [Emily Blunt] is ecstatic over her [Oscar] nod, she was in kind of a stinky position when she heard of the nomination.

The “Devil Wears Prada” actress revealed that she was actually scooping up her dog’s poop when she was notified about the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award nomination last month.

“It’s all quite scary, the anticipation of it, and I think you just try not to listen to buzz because buzz can be built on sand sometimes,” she said during a conversation with Josh Horowitz at 92NY on Tuesday.

“And so when it did happen, and when it happened in such a far-reaching way for all of us in the movie and every crew member, it was magical,” Blunt continued.

The film earned a whopping 13 nominations in total, including for Best Picture.

“I did have a brief cry in the middle of Brooklyn, brief weep directly after picking up my dog’s poop,” Blunt went on. “I did pick up her poop and then I heard that I got nominated, so it was perfect.”

The British actress revealed that husband John Krasinski also “had a really good cry as well, after helping me with the poop.”

“I think he went and put it in the trash, and then we both cried,” she recalled.

[From NY Post]

“I did pick up her poop and then I heard that I got nominated, so it was perfect.” I love it. For the rest of her life Emily can enjoy a sense memory connection between her Academy Award nomination and dog sh*t. Imagine it: she could be sitting in the Dolby Theatre on March 10, dazzling in her designer gown, and all of a sudden she picks up wafts of poop odor. And it works the other way around too! Every time she bends down to collect a steaming pile of her pup’s poop, she’ll be reminded, “I’m an Oscar nominee.” All that being said, if her hubby John Krasinski was with her and cried with her as she says… then why didn’t he pick up the poop for her?! They knew a call was coming from a publicist whether the news was good or bad, he could have assumed the morning’s sh*t duties. Next red carpet they do together, the lip readers might want to check if it’s Emily this time talking about wanting to divorce John, just sayin’.
