Demi Moore is reportedly ‘heartbroken’ & taking the Oscar loss ‘very hard’

As I said on Oscar night, I didn’t want Demi Moore to win the Best Actress Oscar, but I was still sad that she lost. She had a great “comeback” story, a great “it’s her time, after decades in the industry” story. I give her a lot of credit for changing into this Gucci dress and still going out to party post-Oscars. Demi is old-school – never let the f–kers see you down. Never give them the satisfaction. That being said, Demi had a great awards-season run, picking up a Golden Globe, SAG Award and Critics Choice. She’s fine, according to me. According to Page Six, Demi is heartbroken though. A source told the outlet that Demi “can’t help but feel heartbroken” and “Demi is taking this loss very hard because she felt like this was finally her chance to take home an Academy Award… [but she] is thrilled for Mikey and all the other women who were nominated for this award. But of course, it was a huge disappointment not hearing her name be called.” I hope she’s not this upset, and as I said, she still went out and partied and enjoyed herself.

More photos from the VF Oscar party… Mikey Madison wore a simple black gown to the VF party – I’m so happy for her win, but I desperately need her to give up the satin and taffeta, OMFG.

Lupita Nyong’o wore Chanel – kind of boring, actually.

Selena Gomez in a custom Armani for the VF party – I love this, she looked so great everywhere on Sunday.

Cynthia Erivo is one of the few women who prioritized comfort at the parties.

Lindsay Lohan and her husband Bader. Her dress is Balenciaga, and I always love the combination of white dress emeralds. I hope she’s healthy and doing well.

Lupita Nyong’o had the best dress out of all of the Chanel-clad Oscar attendees

Lupita Nyong’o is one of the latest brand ambassadors for Chanel. Originally, I thought it was bad luck for Lupita, who is usually known as one of the best-dressed women on any given red carpet. I thought she would be confined by Chanel’s tweed-and-pearls philosophy. Instead, something magical happened – Chanel’s designers have been customizing some of their best gowns for Lupita, and she looks like the second coming of Audrey Hepburn. Lupita’s Chanel look at last night’s Oscars was one of my favorites of the night. I love how they incorporated the “Chanel pearls” into her hair.

Fernanda Torres also got a custom Chanel. I thought this was fine? I had a weird premonition that she would win Best Actress, but that did not happen. Her film – I’m Still Here – did win Best International Film, which was thrilling for Brazilians.

Lily-Rose Depp’s Chanel roots are generational – her mother is a long-time Chanel devotee and brand ambassador, and Lily basically inherited the Chanel contract. I know Lily-Rose is the kind of woman Chanel wants to dress, but this is giving me nothing.

Margaret Qualley’s Chanel look was my second-favorite after Lupita’s. There were several women in velvet, and this was one of the better options.

And finally, Penelope Cruz is a long-time Chanel devotee and this felt like something she has already worn a million times, and like it was already in her closet.

Demi Moore wore a stunning Alexander McQueen to the 2025 BAFTAs

Demi Moore attended the BAFTAs on Sunday as a Best Actress nominee. She lost to Mikey Madison, in what was probably considered a surprise. Personally, I’ve thought that Mikey should be the frontrunner of the lead-actress race for months, but Demi is the one winning everything (everything except the BAFTA). Demi dressed like she thought she was going to win as well – she wore this really striking Alexander McQueen gown which is so detailed and interesting.

Lupita Nyong’o wore Chanel to the BAFTAs – this is one of the few times I’ve really loved Chanel on a red carpet. Who knew that Lupita Chanel was such a great combo?

Anna Kentrick wore an archive Georges Chakra – really sexy, and I adore the diamonds and emeralds. She really went all out.

Marisa Tomei in Sophie Couture. I saw some complaints about this and I was like WTF, she looks great. But on second look… the dress is “off” somehow? I get it. The shoulders throw everything off and the large applique at the waist weighs down the dress (and makes it look saggy). But she’s lovely.

Bonus James McAvoy, looking like a snack.

Angelina Jolie wore Elie Saab to the Critics Choice Awards: fine or meh?

Here are some photos from Friday night’s Critics Choice Awards. This will probably be Angelna Jolie’s final appearance during the awards season, unless she’s invited to present at the SAGs or Oscars, I guess. You never know – she is a two-time Oscar winner already, so it’s more than possible that the Academy would invite her to be a presenter. Anyway, Angelina did not leave the awards season with a bang. She chose this peachy-beige-tea-rose lace Elie Saab Spring 2025 gown which… eh. I’m mad at the color, I’m mad at her hair these days. But overall, I’m happy that it wasn’t a sack dress and it also feels like she’s been venturing out of her comfort zone here and there. It ended up being an okay night for Jolie – that POS Chelsea Handler didn’t even say her name, and Demi Moore went over and hugged Angelina when Demi won Best Actress. It feels like Angelina has made some new friendships during this season.

Michelle Yeoh kind of disappointed me too? She wore this absolutely terrible Balenciaga look. Her hair also looked… not-great. She has great hair too, but it’s too “flat” and lifeless here.

Lupita Nyong’o was one of several women wearing Chanel. I, uh, don’t think Lupita got the best Chanel look, honestly. She’s always beautiful, but this is a minidress with black tulle and it looks like a homemade fashion project.

Margaret Qualley in Chanel – she’s been wearing Chanel throughout the awards season, and she has a good Chanel contract. I actually sort of like this? It’s more flowy and romantic than I would normally associate with Chanel.

Jodie Foster in Chanel – the dress is super-conservative and very “Jodie,” but can I just say? I love her hair these days. That choppy bob is killer and I love the subtle grey streaks. Her colorist is doing a great job.

Jennifer Lawrence wore Bottega Veneta to the Governors Awards: not bad?

Embed from Getty Images

I’m sorry to do a big photo dump from Getty, but the Academy really limited the photo agencies’ access to the Governors Awards red carpet. Angelina Jolie bringing her 16-year-old son Knox as her date was maybe the biggest news from the carpet, but this event was exceptionally well-attended. A lot of the actors who are just starting their Oscar campaigns attended. I don’t think Jennifer Lawrence is campaigning for anything in particular, but as an Oscar-winner, she always enjoys attending these kinds of events. She wore a stretchy Bottega Veneta gown to suit her pregnancy. The gown is fine, but her hair is not great (BANGS) and her makeup is “off.”

Nicole Kidman and Demi Moore. Nic wore Celine. Meh, right?

Lupita Nyong’o wore Chanel – she has a brand-new Chanel ambassadorship and this is, in my opinion, kind of a bad match of celebrity and brand. I thought that about Margot Robbie and Chanel too. Chanel wants to be hip and cool and it’s just not.

Jennifer Lopez wore Zuhair Murad, one of her favorite designers. I like the optical illusion aspect of this dress, honestly.

Kerry Washington in Elie Saab. Out: tailoring. In: boob-belts.

Mikey Madison wore Prada – it’s very prim and it’s not the right color for her, but I’m looking forward to her campaign for Anora.

Elle Fanning in Valentino. Kind of my favorite look of the night, tbh.

Box Office Lupita Nyong’O Movies Pedro Pascal

Pedro Pascal was gifted a plush fox on the red carpet, was so gracious

Has anyone here seen The Wild Robot? The new animated movie stars Lupita Nyong’o as a robot who lands on an island and ends up co-parenting an orphaned gosling along with a fox. Some of you must have, because even in its fourth week of release it still beat out Joker: Folie à Flop during the sequel’s second week of release. (Or as my grandmother would say, “That film wasn’t released — it escaped!”) The Wild Robot has done so well, in fact, that a second film has already been confirmed, set to follow the series of books by Peter Brown. From People Magazine’s reporting:

The adventures of The Wild Robot are set to continue!

Speaking recently with Deadline, the film’s director Chris Sanders said, “100% yes there are absolutely plans for a second one,” as his DreamWorks animated film continues to perform well at the box office.

In The Wild Robot, Lupita Nyong’o voices robot Roz, who crashes on an island and has to learn to survive from the surrounding creatures. She ends up becoming the mother of an orphaned gosling, Brightbill, voiced by Heartstopper star Kit connor.

The Wild Robot is based on Peter Brown’s 2016 book by the same name, which is part of a series of three books. The second book is titled The Wild Robot Escapes.

According to Brown’s website, the sequel finds Roz exploring a futuristic world with “cities and humans and other robots” while navigating her memories of her life on the island.

I’m a firm believer that we need more Lupita Nyong’o in films, so I’m fully on board with her getting this sequel (especially while she’s still waiting for someone to send her that perfect rom-com). But getting back to the first film, it hasn’t opened everywhere yet (and is still beating Joker 2), so stars Lupita and Pedro Pascal were at the London premiere over the weekend ahead of the UK release. Lupita looked resplendent, if ready for winter wonderland season, in a white Chanel suit (she has a new partnership with the fashion house) that had a fun silver piece down the front. Pedro, meanwhile, looked disgustingly sexy in a dark gray suit with a v-neck shirt so low that it basically lined up with the jacket’s lapels. To be clear: I’m NOT complaining.

As if destroying us on visual impact wasn’t enough, Pedro further went on to melt hearts when he stopped for an interview with Claire Rowden from MTV UK while working the red carpet. Claire gifted him a plush stuffed animal fox, in honor of his character Fink the Fox. You guys, the sequence of emotions that then plays out on Pedro’s face… I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say it’s one of the greatest moments ever captured on film. He is so unbelievably gracious and grateful, he goes from, “Oh is this really for me?” to “I’m gonna keep him,” to “Is he really mine?” to “I love him, I needed him!” Don’t ever change, Pedro, you’re perfect. Hey, I have a scathingly brilliant idea — please let’s have Pedro and Lupita star in a rom-com together!

Lupita Nyong’o: I’m looking for a rom-com, if I need to audition, I’ll do it

Lupita Nyong’o is one of the best actresses in her – *my* – generation. (We Millennials are happy to claim her as one of us.) She broke into the mainstream with 2013’s 12 Years a Slave and quickly established herself as a fantastic dramatic actress. She’s also starred in blockbuster franchises, like the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Nakia in both Black Panther movies, played a role in the Star Wars universe as Maz Kanata (a stop-motion role), gone the horror route in Jordan Peele’s Us, and done an action/spy movie, The 355, which I really liked. She’s currently starring in the prequel to A Quiet Place, A Quiet Place: Day One. But there’s one genre that Lupita is really looking to break into, and that’s the romantic comedy. During a recent event celebrating her career hosted by Paramount Pictures and Hollywood Confidential, Lupita let it be known that she would really like someone to send her a rom-com script.

Lupita Nyong’o has a request for Hollywood casting directors. On Friday, June 14, Paramount Pictures and Hollywood Confidential hosted an event celebrating the Oscar-winning actress, 41, for her years of work in the film and TV industries at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Los Angeles.

Nyong’o’s film and TV résumé is expansive — she took home a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award in 2014 for her work in 12 Years a Slave, portrayed a spy and romantic interest to Chadwick Boseman in Black Panther and starred in horror movies including Jordan Peele’s thriller Us — but there’s one genre she really wants to tackle next, she told PEOPLE.

“Please tell everybody I’m looking for the rom-com,” she announced. “I am here. I’m taking calls. Listen, if I need to audition, I’ll do it. I’m dying to do a comedy. Dying to do a comedy.”

The Emmy winner has started taking matters into her own hands, posting silly videos of herself, her cat and more to show off her lighthearted side.

“I’m trying to tell these executives that I’m funny and that I can be lighthearted and light-footed,” Nyong’o added. “But I do have more dramatic roles in the can than light ones, so someone’s just got to take a chance with me. So consider this my open application.”

[From People]

Okay, listen up, Hollywood. When Lupita Nyong’o asks to do a rom-com, you say “YES!” Someone send this woman a script, pronto. I’ve never seen it, but back in 2018, Lupita did a “horror/rom-com hybrid” zombie comedy that streamed on Hulu called, Little Monsters. She got great reviews, too. I would love to see her in a straight up rom-com as the female lead. Everyone keeps trying to make Glen Powell happen; I’d watch a movie with the two of them. I also kinda have a crush on Daniel Kaluuya and wouldn’t mind watching him reunite on screen with Lupita. Also, don’t hate me, but I would also watch her in a movie with Channing Tatum. Yes, I know, I know, but I kinda love me some Channing T. He has this earnestness that does it for me. Hmm, who else? I would also throw Donald Glover in the mix, as well. I watched the Mr. And Mrs. Smith series, and as a result, I dig him as a romantic leading man. So yeah, someone in Hollywood needs to make this happen for Lupita. I’ll be there opening weekend.
