Britney Spears responds to sister Jamie Lynn: ‘She wants to sell a book at my expense’

Jamie Lynn Spears has been promoting her new memoir, which is called Things I Should Have Said. It was originally titled I Must Confess: Family, Fame, and Figuring it Out, but she changed it after backlash for using a line from her sister Britney’s lyrics. Jamie Lynn has seemed unprepared to answer questions about Britney’s forced conservatorship and comes across as defensive. In an interview with Good Morning America, Jamie Lynn claimed that she tried to help Britney, but that Britney didn’t take the steps to end the conservatorship after she reached out. Britney has previously stated that Jamie Lynn did not try to help her and that she sees her sister as complicit. Following her sister’s GMA interview, Britney released a long statement on Twitter putting Jamie Lynn on blast. She used a lot of emojis and it reads like a friend texting her thoughts. Here’s some of what she wrote [via Huffington Post] and you can see the statement below. Unfortunately Britney is sick with a high fever, but is feeling a little better with some Aleve.

Britney Spears slammed Jamie Lynn Spears in a lengthy Twitter statement Thursday, accusing her younger sister of trying to sell a book at her expense.

The pop star said she watched Jamie Lynn’s “Good Morning America” interview and was bothered by the comment that her behavior was out of control.

“[Jamie Lynn] was never around me much 15 years ago at that time,” Britney said. “So why are they even talking about that unless she wants to sell a book at my expense?”

Addressing an alleged rift between the sisters, Jamie Lynn told the talk show that she had “only ever loved and supported” Britney, “so I don’t know why we’re in this position right now.”

She was apparently referring to Britney’s unhappy reaction after Jamie Lynn performed a medley of remixed Britney songs at the 2017 Radio Disney Awards.

“I know it may sound like a silly thing to most people but I wrote a lot of my songs and my sister was the baby,” Britney said in her statement. “She never had to work for anything. Everything was always given to her!!!!”

I hope Britney is ok and that she feels better soon! If she has covid she’ll hopefully be fine. We know she’s vaccinated because she posted photos to Instagram.

As for Jamie Lynn, she’s always seemed like a little brat when it comes to her sister. From performing her sisters’ songs to bragging that she stays at the Ritz instead of her sister’s condo in Florida, she just seems rude. I understand that her family is massively dysfunctional and that she was just a teen mom when her sister was put under a conservatorship. She’s 30 now and a grown woman. At the very least she should have more diplomatic answers to these questions about her sister. Jamie Lynn sounded like she was blaming Britney for the conservatorship. At least Britney is out of it now and can respond to her family, but she’s lost so much over the years. I hope she sues the crap out of her father.

Jamie Lynn Spears’s memoir comes out next Tuesday. It’s called Things I Should Have Said. According to Jamie Lynn’s promo tour, she’s been writing this book since 2017, when her 17-year-old daughter Maddie was almost killed in an ATV accident. But I wonder if that title was decided recently. It seems a bit convenient now especially given that’s Jamie Lynn’s promo tour theme. And what she should have said, according to Jaime Lynn, is that she’s been supporting her older sister Britney this entire time, but she just never told us. Now that Britney is free and saying the opposite of what Jamie Lynn is trying to sell, Jamie Lynn has to “separate herself from her family” even though she’s only ever “love(d) and support(ed)” Britney.

Jamie Lynn Spears is opening up about her complicated family dynamic.

Ahead of the Jan. 18 release of her memoir Things I Should Have Said, the actress and country singer-songwriter, 30, addresses her relationship with her older sister Britney in the new issue of PEOPLE.

“I’ve only ever tried to be helpful, so any notion that says the contrary is just completely ridiculous,” Jamie Lynn, 30, says of her strained relationship with her sister, 40, who has repeatedly criticized her family on social media over the last six months.

For Jamie Lynn, “it was really important for me to separate myself from my family to focus on the family I’ve created, which is me, my husband and my daughters. Setting those boundaries in place was really important,” says the Sweet Magnolias actress, who is raising daughters Maddie, 13, and Ivey, 3, with husband Jamie Watson, 40. “I am not my family. I am my own person. I fought very hard and worked very hard to establish myself and to build the life that I have today.”

After years of trying to keep up appearances, Jamie Lynn is now quick to admit “no family is perfect.”

I do believe there was little Jamie Lynn could do to help Britney when this all began. She was too young and too occupied with her newborn baby to know or do anything. However, Britney is intent on refuting Jamie Lynn’s claims that she has always been there for her sister. Maybe Britney sees anything short of actively fighting her father Jamie as a sign of aligning with him, but it seems like Britney has a specific complaint about each family member. It’s a hard call because Jamie Lynn’s admissions seem convenient now that she has a book to sell. But at the same time, this is when the conservatorship ended, and the claims were made so she has to address them.

It doesn’t help that Jaime Lynn’s comments about the conservatorship have been odd as well. She said she was asked to be a part of the conservatorship as an adult but that she “declined it nicely.” However, court documents show she was appointed trustee of Britney’s estate in 2018 even though People noted she “never filled the role.” So did Britney see Jamie Lynn’s name and assume she was profiting off her? Or is Jamie Lynn leaving something out? Jaime Lynn also claims she spoke to Britney’s old legal team about ending the conservatorship but that that discussion “did not go well.” If she was truly trying to end the conservatorship, working from the inside out would make sense. But that’s not the argument she’s making. She’s saying she was only a figurehead who didn’t know anything. Jamie Lynn’s latest claim is that she set up ways for Britney to get out of the conservatorship throughout the years. But she lays the blame for it not ending at Britney’s feet, saying, “I did take the steps to help, but how many times can I take the steps without — you know, she has to walk through the door.” If all that’s true, then she clearly knew there was something wrong with the conservatorship and never spoke out in Britney’s defense. I can’t decide whether Jamie Lynn is complicit or just really bad at defending her innocence.

Jamie Lynn Spears gives shady quote after charity refuses her book donation

Jamie Lynn Spears has a memoir coming out in January. The first title for the book was based on a lyric from “Hit Me Baby One More Time,” the hit by her sister. It was originally supposed to be called I Must Confess: Family, Fame, and Figuring it Out. Jamie has since changed the title to Things I Should Have Said and has promoted it by saying she is “opening up about my own mental health” for the first time. Of course it’s Jamie Lynn’s story and she can write about anything she wants, but given everything her sister has gone through it seems insensitive at the very least to frame it that way. Britney has suggested that Jamie Lynn hasn’t supported her throughout her conservatorship battle and she’s also called out Jamie Lynn for performing her songs. It just seems like Jamie Lynn is being passive aggressive toward Britney, and this is not the first time.

Anyway Jamie Lynn tried to say that the profits from her book would go to a mental health charity called This is My Brave. I doubt she would have donated the full profits, but it doesn’t matter because This is My Brave has declined any potential donation from her. They issued a statement saying they heard the criticism, that they would not accept a donation from Jamie Lynn’s book and that they’re sorry. In response a source/Jamie Lynn told People Magazine that the charity is wrong, essentially, and that Jamie Lynn’s story is as valid as Britney’s!

A source tells PEOPLE that Spears, 30, was hurt by This Is My Brave’s decision to turn down any donations given to them by the actress, who announced her book Things I Should Have Said earlier this month.

“Jamie Lynn was totally blindsided by them publicly walking away. The organization was recommended and vetted and knew we were donating, but they’ve been overwhelmed,” the source says. “Unfortunately with them backing out, they are essentially saying that one person’s mental health struggles are more valid and important than another. They took a clear stand on whose story they thought had more value to them. Seems their actions don’t align with their mission of supporting all voices.”

The insider says that the incident has been “very upsetting” for Spears, who has long been associated with her sister in both her career and her personal life.

“Jamie Lynn has suffered abuses in her life as well and that’s what people aren’t understanding — she has her own things she’s gone through,” the source says. “She can’t help that she’s Britney’s little sister. Her life is only spoken about in relation to her family even though she has also been dealing with mental health issues for the better half of her life. This just reinforces the entire trauma — that her story doesn’t matter.”

They took a clear stand on whose story they thought had more value to them.” Jamie Lynn is being super obvious that she’s competing with Britney by releasing this book. She’s saying “what about meeeee” and “this is damaging to me that people care about my sister.” It’s all so shady and shows you exactly what Jamie Lynn’s intentions were with this memoir.

Jamie Lynn Spears to rumors she stays in Britney’s FL condo: I stay at the Ritz

In our story yesterday about the way Britney Spears’s team controlled her spending, many of you mentioned her sister Jamie Lynn’s recent social media posts. Jamie Lynn had deleted several photos from a condo where she stays in in Destin, Florida, a property worth one million paid for by a trust owned by Britney. Jamie Lynn has spoken about the property in interviews, leading many people in the Free Britney movement to call her out for claiming to not have taken any money from Britney. Seemingly in response to that, Jamie Lynn has posted photos of her family vacation at the Ritz Carlton. She first included a caption with the slideshow defending herself and saying she stays at the Ritz, but she’s since replaced that caption with a more generic one about her vacation. It’s all very shady. I’m going to quote US here because they have Jamie Lynn’s original caption. The slideshow is below.

“I don’t own a condo, and I can assure you that no one has ever bought me a place at the beach, because I prefer my beach vacations’s [sic] at the Ritz anyway🌊,” [Jamie Lynn Spears], 30, captioned a series of Instagram pics on Monday, July 26, disabling comments on the post. “Simple FACTS. Y’all need to stop reachin’🤍🤍.”

Jamie Lynn documented her stay at the swanky hotel with husband Jamie Watson, including a personalized note from the staff and gift baskets in their room. “Thankful to get this time with my family in between our busy work and practice schedules with the kids lol,” she wrote.

[Jamie Lynn] shares 3-year-old daughter Ivey with Watson, 39, whom she wed in 2014. She is also the mother of 13-year-old daughter Maddie with ex-fiancé Casey Aldridge. In her post, Jamie Lynn blurred out her children’s faces.

Earlier this month, The Sun reported that [Britney], 39, allegedly bought a vacation home frequented by Jamie Lynn and her family in Destin, Florida, which has an estimated worth of more than $1 million. [Jamie Lynn] has mentioned the condo several times in the past, telling CMT News in 2016 that she felt “pretty blessed” to have the beachside property as a place to work on her music and relax.

“I host everyone at our condo. … It can sleep about 10 people,” she said at the time. “We all have breakfast together, I plan a big dinner, and we have a space at the beach. And when we write, there’s no pressure and no timeline, so the songs just kind of fall out. It’s hard to call that work.”

Jamie Lynn should have just kept her mouth shut and kept her family photos to herself. The more she posts, the more she seems like one of the people Britney referred to when she said her support system hurt her deeply. Also Jamie Lynn’s husband, also named Jamie, was spied looking at Britney’s Instagram in this photo Jamie Lynn posted, that’s below. You can read more about that here. It’s the post in between the two of Britney’s boobs. Did they set this up? I bet they did. She’s a piece of work. You would think she could pick up the junk in the background before taking photos for Instagram.

Britney’s new lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, has filed a motion to request that her father be removed as conservator. They’re asking that an accountant named Jason Rubin take over as the estate conservator. The court documents state that Britney’s net worth is “shockingly low” and accuse her father, Jamie, of “dissipating” her fortune while personally profiting from it. Britney Spears: ‘My so-called support system hurt me deeply’

In the past couple of weeks, as Britney Spears had made progress in her conservatorship case, her mother and sister have issued statements of support. Lynn, Britney’s mother, was somewhat vague and posted a Bible verse about light winning over darkness. Britney’s sister, Jamie Lynn, posted an Instagram story video at the end of June. Jamie Lynn cried and said that she’s only been supportive of Britney and wants her to be happy. You can see that video below. It really seemed like Britney was responding to her sister because she recently made two Instagram posts referencing people who weren’t supportive but claimed to be. In her last one, posted Saturday, Britney even called out her sister for performing her songs. I’m including part of her captions below and you can click through on Britney’s Instagram posts below for more.

There’s nothing worse than when the people closest to you who never showed up for you post things in regard to your situation whatever it may be and speak righteously for support … there’s nothing worse than that !!!! How dare the people you love the most say anything at all … did they even put a hand out to even lift me up at the TIME !!!??? How dare you make it public that NOW you CARE … did you put your hand out when I was drowning ???? Again … NO … so if you’re reading this and you know who you are … and you actually have the nerve to say anything about my situation just to save face for yourself publicly !!!

In the end of that second caption she told people who didn’t wish her well to go f’ck themselves, basically. Good for her. There was a social media company controlling Britney’s Instagram up until recently, but Bessemer Trust, the co-conservator of her estate, stepped down last week. Britney was also allowed to hire her own attorney last week. So I believe she’s the one posting to her Instagram finally. There’s another post Britney before those with some spiritual stuff about the third eye. After she won in court she posted videos of herself riding a horse and cartwheeling.

As for her captions, I think she’s saying that her sister and mom didn’t go to bat for her. I don’t blame Jamie Lynn for that particularly, because she was 17 when Britney was first put under a conservatorship by her dad. Jamie Lynn probably had no power or say and I would bet she was afraid of the press targeting her. Jamie Lynn also had a baby at that time, she was underage, and she saw how Britney lost custody of her boys. It’s just a sad situation all around. Also people should stop criticizing Britney for dancing! I know that’s not how social media works, but Britney loves dancing and I bet she misses that part of performing. She’s a creative, artistic person and she spent her whole life making money for other people while being controlled by them. I hope she’ll soon be able to do what she wants and go to the damn spa.

Jamie Lynn Spears: ‘My sister knows I love and support her, I’m not my family’

In her statement in court last week, Britney Spears made it clear that she blamed her whole family for what has happened to her in the years she’s been under a conservatorship. While her father Jamie Spears is the main culprit for most of the human rights violations against Britney, she also blamed her mother, her brother and the rest of her family for continuing to profit from her and for not stopping the damage being done to her. Britney’s younger sister Jamie Lynn Spears finally has some thoughts about all of that. She got on IG Stories said words:

“I just want to take a second to address a few things,” Jamie Lynn said in the video message shared Monday to her Instagram stories. “The only reason I hadn’t before is because I felt like until my sister was able to speak for herself and say what she felt she needed to say publicly that it wasn’t my place and it wasn’t the right thing to do. But now that she’s very clearly spoken and said what she needed to say, I feel like I can follow her lead and say what I feeI I need to say.”

“Since the day I was born, I’ve only loved, adored and supported my sister. I mean this is my freaking big sister, before any of this bulls-. I don’t care if she wants to run away to a rainforest and have zillion babies in the middle of nowhere, or if she wants to come back and dominate the world the way she has done so many times before, because I have nothing to gain or lose either way. This situation does not affect me either way, because I’m only her sister who’s only concerned about her happiness.”

Jamie Lynn continued by saying she had made a “very conscious choice” to “only participate” in Britney’s life as a sister and that she has done her own thing ever since she was a child.

“I paid my freakin bills since I was 10 years old. Not that I owe the public anything, because my sister knows I love and support her… I’m not my family. I’m my own person. And I’m speaking for myself,” she said. The Zoey 101 star said she’s “very proud” of Britney for speaking up and that she has always supported her and her happiness.

“Maybe I didn’t support the way the public would like me to with a hashtag on a public platform but I can assure you that I support my sister long before there was a hashtag and I’ll support her long after,” she said. “I’m so proud of her for using her voice. I’m so proud of her for requesting new counsel like I told her many years ago – oh, not in a public platform but just in a personal conversation between two sisters.”

To end the video message, she said, “If ending the conservatorship and flying to Mars or whatever the hell else she wants to do to be happy, I support that 100% because I support my sister; I love my sister. Always have, always will. As long as she’s happy. So let’s keep praying. That’s all.”

I saw a lot of people yelling at and about Jamie Lynn because of this statement, because she has gotten to live her life free down in Louisiana, and because Jamie Lynn is making it sound like she’s different from the rest of her family because she doesn’t profit from Britney. I don’t know. I just don’t. I’d like to hear what Britney has to say about her sister specifically. Besides, even if Jamie Lynn knew how bad it had gotten with Britney, there was probably no way for her to intervene legally, you know? We just don’t know the sister-dynamics of this one.
