During Rihanna’s first pregnancy, I remember how her fans were absolutely convinced that she was expecting a girl. It felt certain for everyone: of course Rihanna was going to have a daughter, it was obvious. Then she gave birth to RZA in 2022, her first son. Her second son, Riot, followed in 2023. Rihanna was a boy mom after all, and she completely adores her two sons. But she and ASAP Rocky decided that they weren’t done with RZA and Riot. No, they still wanted to go for the girl. Well, it happened! Rihanna welcomed her daughter Rocki Irish Mayers on September 13th.

I’m so happy for Rihanna, Rocky and Rocki. I actually love it when daughters are named after their fathers – Serena Williams did something similar when naming her first daughter (Olympia’s first name is Alexis, her father’s name). That being said, ASAP Rocky’s real name is Rakim Mayers. Does Rihanna call him Rakim though? I’m pretty sure she calls him Rocky. Well, now she has two! My question: do you think Rihanna will stop having babies now that she has her much longed-for daughter?

Cannes: Rihanna wore a Smurf-colored Alaïa to ASAP Rocky’s big premiere

Monday night was the Cannes Film Festival premiere of Spike Lee’s latest joint, Highest 2 Lowest. The film stars Denzel Washington, ASAP Rocky, Jeffrey Wright, Ilfenesh Hadera, Wendell Pierce and more. This was also Rocky’s first time walking the Cannes red carpet. He went all out, and of course he brought his lady with him too. It really happened for Rock and Rihanna in a real way: they complete each other, they’re soulmates and completely supportive partners. They have two sons together and people have their fingers crossed that Rihanna is expecting their much-longed-for daughter.

Rocky and Rihanna complement each other aesthetically as well – they’re both into fashion, they sometimes coordinate their looks, and they know how to pose together to maximize their joint slay. At the premiere, Rocky wore Saint Laurent, with Ray Bans (he designed them himself) and a Bulgari watch and Bulgari jewelry. Rihanna wore a turquoise Alaïa Fall 2025 which was customized for her growing bump. Her jewelry was Boucheron. She’s glowing! I love that color on her too, it’s sharp. It started raining in Cannes last night, so there were some lovely photos of Rocky holding the umbrella over Rihanna as they walked down the steps. It reminded people of those iconic photos of Prince Harry and Meghan.

Also: people think that Rihanna’s dress is a preview of her upcoming movie – she’s voicing Smurfette in the “live action” Smurfs. See, when you say that, sure, I can totally see it. She’s absolutely channeling a Smurf.

Rihanna took her sons to court to watch the closing arguments in ASAP Rocky’s trial

ASAP Rocky’s trial has been happening for several weeks now in LA. He’s on trial for two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, all from a 2022 incident. The prosecution offered him a plea deal with something like six months in jail and then probation, and he turned down the offer. If convicted, he could face up to 24 years in prison. Rocky’s wife/partner Rihanna has visited him during the trial a few times, but on Thursday, she brought their sons to court. RZA is the oldest at two-and-a-half, and Riot is only 18 months old. According to People Magazine, the babies weren’t there for very long, and Rihanna was overheard telling the boys “wish daddy good luck.” After she got the kids away from the courthouse, she returned and sat through the closing arguments.

Rihanna’s showing support for her man A$AP Rocky while his trial comes to an end … pulling up to court on the day closing arguments are set to take place — with her two kids in tow. The singer-songwriter hopped out of a black SUV in front of the courthouse Thursday … wearing a black leather jacket while her security held an umbrella to keep her out of the rain.

Her two children — RZA and Riot — came along with RiRi … the first time they’ve been spotted going to court throughout this whole ordeal. Rihanna didn’t say anything on her way into court … appearing pensive while she waited to hear the final arguments — and possibly a verdict — in the assault case.

In court, baby Riot sat on Rihanna’s lap, wearing a blue suit with sparkly silver stripes, holding a turquoise blanket. As he fussed a bit, she wiped his face with little washcloths, patted his tummy and rocked him back and forth. She whispered into his ear and gave him a colorful book to occupy him.

As you know … Rocky is on trial after his former friend A$AP Relli claimed Rocky beat him up, pulled a gun on him, and even allegedly shot him. Rocky has denied the claims — with his lawyer Joe Tacopina saying he couldn’t have shot Relli because the gun he’s holding in a video allegedly showing the incident is a prop gun.

Rihanna has gone to court multiple times to show her support … and, she’s seen the trial get heated — with Relli and Tacopina regularly getting into it on the stand.

It’s not clear exactly when the verdict in this case is coming down … but, Rocky could face up to 24 years in jail if convicted on both counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm.

The whole family is together to see Rocky’s trial come to an end … though we don’t know yet if it will be a happy reunion or a tearful goodbye.

When Rihanna was leaving the courthouse a few days ago, paparazzi swarmed her and she looked very emotional. I think she looks sad/tense/emotional in these photos from Thursday too – while she’s not crying, I feel like I can see the strain on her. She really loves Rocky and from what I’ve seen, he’s devoted to her and their sons. I have no idea if the state has a strong case or what Rocky’s chances are, but I hope Rihanna will be okay no matter what.

Jodie Turner Smith wore Burberry to the 2024 Fashion Awards: lovely?

Here are photos from last night’s 2024 Fashion Awards in London. There were several big names in attendance, and a great deal of wacky fashion. One of my favorite looks of the night? Jodie Turner-Smith in Burberry. She attended the event with Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer Daniel Lee. Jodie has been saying yes to everything these days – TV shows, movies, any role she’s offered, any paycheck. I would love it if she got a contract with Burberry. The dress is gorgeous. The coat is too, although I thought it was a real fur coat. Turns out, it’s a really high-quality fake fur. Damn.

Rihanna picked up the Cultural Innovator Award, which is well-deserved because she is a cultural innovator. Unfortunately, Rihanna looked goofy as hell in this Christian Lacroix ensemble. Jamiroquai-looking ass. Even A$AP Rocky seemed a little bit over it, but he kept trying to dodge that stupid hat.

I like Ashley Graham’s dress a lot!

Ellie Goulding wore one of my favorite trends in couture: the quilted puffer jacket as evening wear. Hey, it’s December, I can’t blame women for wanting to be warm.

I love Simone Ashley. I hate the baby bangs and the Prada mullet dress.

Rihanna is minting money with her wildly popular Fenty Beauty line, and she’s largely a billionaire from Fenty Beauty, although she obviously has other businesses and her successful music career. Last week, Rihanna announced an expansion – she will debut Fenty Hair products later this week. Earlier this year, Beyonce launched her haircare line, Cécred, which seemed like it was full of good products. It came across as a thoughtful extension of Beyonce’s personal brand and it felt like Beyonce was truly trying to give women some better haircare options. I’m not sure Rihanna’s Fenty Hair line is being seen as anything other than a cash grab.

That wasn’t all though – Rihanna was criticized for sharing some Fenty Hair promotional images where it definitely appeared like she was wearing a blonde pixie wig. The internet was definitely clowning on those pics, especially the one where it looked like Rihanna was getting her wig washed. So… Rihanna decided to show her natural hair in an outing on Sunday. She stepped out in New York ahead of the Fenty Hair launch and showed off her natural curls and short hairstyle. She looks cute… so why was she selling haircare products while wearing a wig?

Does anyone else have to keep reminding themselves that Rihanna is a mother of two? Her first pregnancy – with son RZA – was well-documented, but her second pregnancy was more low-key and I’m always like “oh right, a second kid.” Baby Riot is only nine months old, while RZA just turned two years old on Monday, May 13. On RZA’s birthday, ASAP Rocky posted some photos of his happy family on Instagram (I’m including the IG at the end of the post)

Ahead of RZA’s birthday, Rihanna and ASAP hosted a private party at the Color Factory in NYC on Saturday. Rihanna invited producer President Hitkidd and her makeup artist Jazzy B. Rihanna was seen throughout the weekend in New York, yet another reminder that she was due to attend the Met Gala last week, but pulled out because she had the flu. She’s feeling better though. On Sunday, ASAP took Rihanna out for Mother’s Day as well – those are the photos of Rihanna in the red Comme des Garcons top (vintage, from 2003). They had a date night without the kids for Mother’s Day. Sweet.

Are we going to fight about who these babies look like? Because I think both boys take after ASAP, although I see a little bit of Rihanna too.

Beyonce, Zendaya & Rihanna all came out for Pharrell’s Louis Vuitton show

In February, Pharrell Williams was hired as the creative director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear, taking over (in part) from the late Virgil Abloh. While certain fashion industry people looked down their noses at Pharrell, you cannot deny that adding him to the iconic French label has changed the way people see LV. That was evident this week, when Pharrell showed his first collection with the label.

The sheer number of A-listers who came out to this show, my god. I don’t even know the last time Beyonce and Jay-Z attended a runway show, but it’s easily been seven or eight years. Beyonce is taking her Renaissance tour through Europe right now, so she flew into Paris especially for this. Can’t say I’m a big fan of her ensemble, but the whole look would be better without those sunglasses or whatever we’re calling them.

Zendaya was also there, given her new position as house ambassador for LV. Jared Leto – who is gross – was also there, as was Kim Kardashian. Rihanna’s knocked-up self came out to support Pharrell, and Rih brought ASAP Rocky. LeBron James and his wife Savannah also came out! There was a real who’s who of Black excellence (minus Kim and Jared).
