Jenna Ortega wore a bejeweled Givenchy: the best look of the 2025 Emmys?

Jenna Ortega and Catherine Zeta Jones (Wednesday Addams and Morticia Addams) copresented at this year’s Emmys. One of my issues with this year’s Emmys was that they had interesting or fun presenter-pairings but they didn’t give those people any good jokes or anything. It all felt so rote and rushed. Which, fair enough, these awards-shows are bloated enough, but it’s weird to not give these people something punchy to say. Jenna was my pick for one of the best-dressed of the Emmys – she wore this spectacular Givenchy, hot off the runway. Zeta wore Yara Shoemaker.

Megan Stalter said, on the red carpet, that she was wearing “Levis and Hanes.” Jeans and a white t-shirt, with a “Ceasefire” bag. Controversial opinion: I think she brought the kind of fashion energy that the Emmys deserve. More people should wear jeans to awards shows at this point.

Rooney Mara wore a vintage Givenchy look at the Spirit Awards: shocking??!

I hope you guys understand how shocking it is to see Rooney Mara in RED. Ever since Rooney broke through in the English-language adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, her red carpet style has been very goth, very severe, and she rarely deviates from a neutral (usually dark-neutral) color palette. If she wants to mix it up, she’ll wear white or beige. But at the Spirit Awards this weekend, Rooney wore… RED. A vintage Givenchy look. Those are pants, and a grandma-style oversized tunic/cardi. She looks fantastic. Now I’m mad that she hasn’t been wearing red this whole time, because that’s her color.

Claire Foy, Rooney’s Women Talking costar, wore Carolina Herrera. Simple, uneventful.

Jessie Buckley wore Dior. She’s so talented and I love that she’s breaking through. I like a hooded dress as well.

Danielle Deadwyler in Chanel. This is a great look. One of the few times I’ve seen someone pull off “Chanel feathers.”

Jenny Slate in Thom Browne. I like the suit a lot but all of the detailing veers towards “too fussy.”

Never forget that Malala Yousafzai kept talking about never wanting to get married and then two seconds later she met Asser Malik and she was like “nevermind.” A true queen!

Zendaya is just too beautiful for words. Props to her stylist, Law Roach, the best in the business. Roach is putting together these stunning looks for Zendaya and turning her into the most important person on every red carpet. At the SAG Awards, Zendaya wore this mind-blowing Valentino gown, paired with millions of dollars worth of Bulgari JEWELS. That necklace! The rings, the bracelets! Zendaya also changed right away once she was inside the venue so I kind of wonder if the jewels were snatched back two seconds after the red carpet?

Angela Bassett wore this bright yellow Giambattista Valli gown. I enjoy Angela style and she’s having a great time, knowing that she “did the thing,” even if she’s not winning the big awards. I still think there’s a big chance that she wins the Oscar, don’t you?

Jessica Chastain in Zuhair Murad. Eh. There’s nothing wrong with this, it’s beautifully tailored and I like the color. But it looks costume-y on her?

Anya Taylor Joy in a chartreuse Dior at the Globes: lovely or disappointing?

Anya Taylor Joy has her Dior contract and usually it works out pretty well. I mean, Anya can wear anything and she has a model’s build and look, so Dior is a good fit for her in every way. But Dior really gave Anya a lemon-chartreuse bandeau top and a wrinkled skirt and said “you’re good.” I actually have a lot of feelings about putting a pale blonde in this color too – while it doesn’t look flat-out bad on her, it does make her look kind of sickly? You could literally put her in any other color!

Elizabeth Debicki was also done dirty by Dior. The fit of this dress, my God. Dior is supposed to be one of the best ateliers in the world! And you’re sending women out in these untailored, baggy-boobed messes??

I genuinely thought Jenny Slate looked lovely in this Rodarte. I’m surprised she went with this color and design, but it was very flattering.

Bradley Cooper is doing the whole “mime chic” thing

I realize that “mime chic” is not an actual thing, but if it was, Bradley Cooper would be the master after his new W Magazine shoot. I’m not sure who came up with this bullshit, but I’m slightly terrified.

Here’s how W describes their inspiration:

The photographer Tim Walker was influenced by the colorful, sun-drenched Los Angeles paintings and photographs of David Hockney, as well as the ’70s free-love aesthetic that informs the artist’s work. From there, the photographic scenarios took cues from Federico Fellini and, naturally, Walker’s own unique perspective. Remarkably, all the actors and actresses were excited to play, to be transformed, to embrace personae that were extreme, odd, and truly fascinating. Perhaps therein lies a message for Hollywood: History is safe, but surprise is thrilling. In 2015, please give these actors new worlds to conquer.

Well, that’s special. I mean, look at this!
