When Rebecca Ferguson was promoting Dune 2 a few months back, she gave a more extended interview to a podcast. Ferguson ended up revealing something which made international headlines: that she worked with a top-billed A-lister who was an “absolute idiot,” a star who screamed at her and belittled her in front of cast and crew. Ferguson described being so upset, she basically went to the director and asked not to even have scenes with this actor. She was very careful in her description, to the point where people weren’t even sure if she was describing a man or a woman. It became a huge blind item and Rebecca’s former costars were all chiming in and screaming “it’s not me, I’m not the one who treated her like sh-t!” Well, a few days ago, Ferguson appeared on The Jess Cagle Show and she was asked about the whole kerfuffle:

Rebecca Ferguson did not expect her comments about the “idiot” actor who made her cry on set to go viral. The Dune star said she’s received phone calls from former costars for sharing her experience, but also noted that the identity of the unnamed actor who berated her is not important.

“What I realized even at the age that I am now is it doesn’t matter,” Ferguson said during a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show. “I am me. I definitely think I’m much more open. I also know where my boundaries are. But the point of the interview wasn’t about finding the person. Of course, people will be interested. But I was excited about the question, which was a very good question.”

“Because the point was,” she continued, “is there a point in your career where you were treated in a way where . . . you want change, or you will not accept it? And it was such a clear moment for me working with this person. But I got phone calls from amazing costars who I’ve worked with going, ‘You understand what you’ve done, right?’” Ferguson added, “And I was like, ‘Oh my God. No, I didn’t think.’ I mean, it’s not my responsibility, to be honest. I don’t really care. You know, you’re great, but my story is my story, and if you’re a good person, then don’t worry about it.”

Ferguson revealed on the Reign With Josh Smith podcast earlier this year that an “absolute idiot of a costar” made her cry and walk off set after they had screamed, “You call yourself an actor? This is what I have to work with?” She said at the time, “Because this person was number one on the call sheet, there was no safety net for me. No one had my back.”

She said it was the first time she spoke up for herself on set, recalling that she told the unnamed costar to “get off my set” and “F off.” She wound up acting with the back of the costar’s head, and her director later backed her up. “It was great from that moment, but it took so long for me to get to that,” Ferguson said.

Yeah, I think her initial intention was simply to describe a moment in her life/career where she was berated and she stood up for herself and set a professional boundary. In that sense, the story wasn’t about WHO did what, it was about how she reacted. That being said, of course people want to know the person’s identity! Rebecca is well-liked, even beloved by fans and coworkers. It’s sort a Me Too-adjacency thing too, while Rebecca didn’t describe being harassed or physically attacked, she was still treated in an unacceptable and abusive way. People want to know! People especially want to know if the person was Jake Gyllenhaal.

Rebecca Ferguson is currently promoting Dune 2, and she recently sat down for an extended interview with the Reign with Josh Smith podcast. The podcast format being what it is, this gave Ferguson a chance to get comfortable enough to spill some interesting tea. Keep in mind, over the past decade, Ferguson has become an undercover “movie star,” and part of two major franchises, Dune and Mission: Impossible. She has that Cate Blanchett chameleon quality, where she can really look radically different and play very different roles. All of that means that she’s worked with a lot of people and one of them – an A-lister, she says – screamed at her and upset her so much that she refused to work with him or her.

Rebecca Ferguson is revealing she refused to work with a big name costar after the person screamed at her. Speaking on the Reign with Josh Smith podcast, the actress, 40, recalled the moment she had to deal with an “absolute idiot of a costar.”

“I remember there was a moment and this human being was being so insecure and angry because this person couldn’t get the scenes out,” she said while not disclosing the person’s identity. Meanwhile, she confirmed that it was not Hugh Jackman, who she acted with in the 2021 movie Reminiscence, or Tom Cruise, who she costarred with in Mission: Impossible.

“And I think I was so vulnerable and uncomfortable that I got screamed at,” Ferguson added. “But because this person was number one on a call sheet, there was no safety net for me. So no one had my back. And I would cry walking off set.”

The Dune: Part Two star revealed that the person would say things like, “You call yourself an actor?” and “This is what I have to work with?”

“I stood there just breaking,” Ferguson said. However, the Mission: Impossible actress confronted the individual despite being “so scared.”

“I looked at this person and I said, ‘You can eff off. I’m gonna work towards a tennis ball. I never want to see you again,’” Ferguson recalled. “And then I remember the producers came up and said, ‘You can’t do this to number one. We have to let this person be on set.’”

Ferguson explained that she requested to act to the back of her costar’s head. “And I did,” she said. “I thought it shouldn’t have to be that way. And I remember going to the director afterward and saying, ‘What is happening?’ The director said, ‘You’re right. I am not taking care of everyone else. I’m trying to fluff this person because it’s so unstable,’ ” she added. “And it was great from that moment but it took so long for me to get to that.”

The incident also served as a turning point for the Silo actress. “From that moment, I have never let myself get to a point where I’ve got home and gone, ‘Why did that happen?’ “

So, this is the blind item – she says it wasn’t Tom Cruise or Hugh Jackman, which I believe (Jackman and Cruise’s costars always sing their praises). I also believe it was not Timothee Chalamet – they seem completely fine with each other. She was in Doctor Sleep with Ewan McGregor (which I never saw) but Ewan doesn’t seem like the type to behave like this (once again, all of his costars sing his praises). She was in The Snowman with Michael Fassbender, Life with Jake Gyllenhaal and The Girl on the Train with Emily Blunt. And she worked with Hugh Grant & Meryl Streep on Florence Foster Jenkins (and Hugh, ever grumpy, even sang her praises in interviews). Yeah… my guess is Jake, but who knows.

Zendaya wore Stephane Rolland to the NYC ‘Dune 2’ premiere: gorgeous?

The cast of Dune 2 has taken the opportunity to dress up in the most futuristic or “alien” styles they can find, to mixed results. It’s cute though, especially with the women trying to compete with Zendaya. Last night was the New York premiere for Dune 2 and Zendaya wore this Stephane Rolland Haute Couture look. Once again, I’m grateful that Z’s brand ambassadorship with Louis Vuitton doesn’t mean that she has to wear LV exclusively. Law Roach is definitely finding some interesting stuff for her and I think this looks cool.

Florence Pugh wore Valentino – there have been so many variations on the “half-sack” dress, with the loose sack dress up front and the business (structure) in the back. This is a good variation, and Miss Flo’s makeup is wild.

Anya Taylor-Joy wore Maison Margiela – if you told me this was another Dior, I would have believed you. I’m also including pics of a Prada-clad Timothee Chalamet and Austin Butler (who wore eye makeup). Austin also posed with Sting, who played the same character, Feyd Rautha, in the previous movie. Austin wore Haider Ackerman!

Zendaya wore two Mugler looks to the London ‘Dune 2’ premiere: robot diva?

Here are photos from the huge Dune 2 premiere in London last night. The whole cast turned out from the look of it, including “surprise” cast member Anya Taylor Joy. There were rumors that Anya turned up at some point but her appearance at the premiere ended up confirming it. She dressed in her best sandworm chic, aka get-thee-to-a-nunnery Dior.

No one was paying attention to poor Anya though, not when Zendaya came to play. Zendaya did two different looks for the red carpet, first showing up in a robot ensemble. This is Mugler and yes, her ass cheeks were out when she turned around. It’s a lot of look, as Tim Gunn likes to say. It would feel more on-theme if Zendaya was playing a robot or someone robotic, but her character is a flesh-and-blood Dune resident (don’t ask me, I’m no expert). After the robot ensemble, she switched into a slinky black Mugler dress.

Zendaya’s sartorial shenanigans also overshadowed Florence Pugh, who I would argue was the actual best-dressed person there. Miss Flo wore this stunning Valentino with a hooded cowl neckline. I love it, I love everything about it – it feels Dune-y and futuristic but it’s still just a beautiful dress, appropriate for a red/sand carpet. The color is gorgeous.

Other notable fashion moments: Timothee Chalamet wore Haider Ackermann. It’s meh, which is disappointing. His style had been so great at all of the photocalls, it makes me wonder if he or his stylist mixed up the looks and Timmy was supposed to wear this to the Paris photocall or something. Lea Seydoux wore a very boring Louis Vuitton, and Rebecca Ferguson wore an optical illusion (??) Fendi dress.

Everyone looked so exhausted at the London ‘MI: Dead Reckoning’ premiere

Tom Cruise has mostly lived and worked in England for years now. The interiors for Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning were filmed at Pinewood Studios in England, and the UK premiere for Dead Reckoning Part 1 should have been a “homecoming” for Cruise and the cast, especially since so many of them are British or London-based. So why did it look like every single person at the premiere was ass-dragging exhausted and like they barely even made an effort for the London premiere? It’s WILD. Even Tom looks like he could use a big nap. I guess this is what happens when you work on two huge franchise films back-to-back over the course of three-plus years in the middle of a pandemic.

Fashion notes: Hayley Atwell wore Ashi Studio, a couture look which would have been offbeat and cool, if not for Hayley’s ghastly styling. Whoever did her hair hates her. Rebecca Ferguson wore a Vivienne Westwood bridal look, and I think Rebecca and Hayley might have shared the same dogsh-t hair stylist. Vanessa Kirby wore a Dolce & Gabbana look which is fine, although it sort of looks like something which has been in her closet for years. Pom Klementieff wore Prada – kind of uneventful, but at least her hair stylist was competent. Bonus Rebecca Romijn, who went to the premiere too (she’s not in the movie, to my knowledge). I hope all of these people get a couple of days off to catch up on their sleep before heading off to the next premiere.

Tom Cruise brought the world premiere of ‘MI Dead Reckoning’ to Rome

During the pandemic, the production of Mission Impossible 7 basically had to get special permission from the Italian government to shoot exterior scenes all around Rome while everything else was in lockdown. I still remember those photos too – Rome was at a virtual stand-still, with the Italian government enforcing strict lockdown procedures, and there was Tom Cruise, barking orders at everyone in the middle of Rome. Well, Cruise brought the world premiere of MI7 to Rome, and they took over the Spanish Steps and the Auditorium della Conciliazione last night. The photos are beautiful, honestly. But y’all know this cast is tired. They’ve been working on MI: Dead Reckoning Parts One and Two for three f–king years.

I’m including photos of Tom solo and with the cast. Tom and Hayley Atwell reportedly dated for a bit, but I don’t think they’re still together. They made a point of posing together though. Fashion notes: Rebecca Ferguson wore Emporio Armani, a pretty great dress, albeit very simple. Hayley wore a slinky black dress but I dislike her “wet look” hair. Vanessa Kirby looks the best, imo. I love a blonde in a gold dress, and this looks amazing on her.

The reviews are already coming in for this movie and they’re overwhelmingly positive. I guess there’s still a lot of love for this franchise and for Tom as Ethan Hunt. We’ll see.

I genuinely enjoy that Zendaya and Timothee Chalamet are “the faces” of Dune, and the studio keeps sending them out to promote the film together. They have a nice, easy chemistry and you can tell that they’re quite friendly with each other. Not exactly in a sexy way – although I’m sure they would be hot together – but they genuinely seem to enjoy each other. They attended the big London premiere of Dune last night and they posed with each other a lot on the carpet. Zendaya has been saying in interviews that Timmy is “fam” to her and that’s what they seem like on the carpet – dorky brother and sister. It’s sweet.

Zendaya wore this sculptural Rick Owens gown for the premiere. I mean… she’s thin and beautiful and she can pull off any look. My guess is that both Zendaya and Timmy feel like they should look “sci-fi” on the Dune carpets, which is working out well. That’s what this dress looks like to me – a sci-fi costume.

Timothee wore Alexander McQueen. He’s a dandy who loves clothes, and I appreciate the fact that he doesn’t wear boring grey suits everywhere.
