Jeremy Allen White agrees to daily alcohol testing to see his kids

Back in May when Addison Timlin first filed for divorce from Jeremy Allen White, she posted on Instagram about how hard it was to raise their two kids as a “single mom.” Then she caught heat for that terminology so she changed it to “co-parent.” She called the experience “exhausting” and “lonely.” Initially people interpreted these remarks as a reference to Jeremy’s frequent absences while filming. Now I think we are seeing a new dimension to the story. Jeremy and Allison recently filed their custody agreement, and in it, Jeremy has to submit to daily alcohol testing on days when he has custody of their daughters. He also has to go to at least two AA meetings a week and individual therapy. So it’s likely that Jeremy’s alcohol use contributed to their split.

eremy Allen White and estranged wife Addison Timlin have filed their custody agreement.

According to documents obtained by PEOPLE, White and Timlin, both 32, have agreed to joint custody of their two daughters — Ezer Billie, 4, and Dolores Wild, 2 — so long as White complies with using a Soberlink device to ensure that he is sober every time he sees his kids.

The Bear star must test twice with the device on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays when he has custodial time with his daughters. On the Saturdays that he is with his kids, he must test three times. On Sundays, only once, the filing states.

He is also required to attend individual therapy at least once a week and at least two Alcoholics Anonymous meetings per week.

I was side-eyeing his obvious pap walks all summer, but I hope that Jeremy has the support he needs on his recovery journey. It’s probably embarrassing for him that this has become public knowledge. Being sober in Hollywood isn’t easy but I’m rooting for him. I also feel for Addison. Her post about how hard it is to raise her kids alone hits different when you realize that Jeremy may have been emotionally absent even when he wasn’t away on location, because of a drinking problem. I think that was a big part of her “loneliness.” The only clue that something was up is that Addison initially asked for primary custody with visitation rights for Jeremy, but she never hinted as to why. They agreed on joint custody in the end, contingent on Jeremy’s sobriety. I’m pulling for him and I hope they both continue to co-parent well for their daughters.

Hayden Panettiere calls relinquishing custody the ‘most heartbreaking thing’

Hayden Panettiere got so much criticism when she relinquished custody of her then-toddler daughter to her daughter’s father, Vladimir Klitschko. I remember covering it in early 2019 and giving her credit for doing the difficult thing to make sure little Kaya was well cared for by family. Hayden was in an abusive relationship at the time and was struggling with addiction. She also sought treatment for postpartum depression, which she was open about. It must have been hard for her to give up custody of her daughter. It turns out it wasn’t her decision. In a clip from Red Table Talk, the new episode of which comes out this afternoon, Hayden talks about how hard it was to sign over custody. While she’s clearly parsing her words, it sound like she was forced to by her ex. Here’s more.

appears on this week’s new episode of Facebook Watch’s Red Table Talk, opening up to co-hosts Jada Pinkett Smith, Adrienne Banfield Norris, and guest host Kelly Osbourne about the “very upsetting” experience of relinquishing custody of her only child to ex Wladimir Klitschko.

In a clip from the RTT conversation shared exclusively with PEOPLE, Panettiere calls signing the custody papers the “most heartbreaking thing I’ve ever had to do in my life.”

“You thought this was an agreement that you came to that it was best that your daughter be with her dad,” Banfield Norris asks the actress to clarify.

“At first it was not because it wasn’t a discussion,” the actress explains. “If [Klitschko] had come to me and said I think because of where you’re at right now and your struggles that you’re having it would be good for her to be over here with me for a while — which if I had probably had enough of a conversation I would’ve said okay that makes sense, I get it, I’ll come there to visit and stuff like that.”

“Because of the way that it was done, it was very upsetting,” she continues. “I mean, it was the worst signing those papers, the most heartbreaking thing I’ve ever, ever had to do in my life.”

“I was gonna go work on myself, I was gonna get better, and when I got better then things would change and she could come to me and I could have my time with her but that didn’t happen,” she adds.

[From People]

Hayden’s then boyfriend was arrested multiple times for assaulting her, she wasn’t sober and it seems like Kaya was in the right place. Hayden has since gotten sober from an alcohol and opioid addiction and she’s made peace with Vladimir and his family. At least she posts nice things about him. Maybe she’s doing that out of necessity because she hopes to get more time with her daughter.

In Hayden’s cover People interview, which came out this July, she said that she visits with Kaya, now seven, and that they’re close. I am interested to see if she talks more about that in her RTT interview. Again, she’s wording things carefully. If she doesn’t have custody of Kaya, she is probably scared to say anything bad about her ex and his family. Sometimes people make tough decisions because the other parent isn’t able to care for their children.

Couple in Spain granted joint custody of their border collie in rare court ruling

baptist-standaert-mx0DEnfYx

This story is just an excuse to post stock photos of border collies, which are one of my favorite breeds. (Pre-pandemic I used to watch my friend’s border collie. She was so sweet and smart, but she shed a lot.) There has been a landmark ruling in Spain where a separated couple was granted joint custody of their border collie. Pets are typically considered property in Spain but this case is part of a push for new legislation there to consider animals living creatures. The couple had both signed the adoption agreement and the lawyer for the plaintiff told The Washington Post that she used the argument that her client and the defendant were both caregivers to the dog.

A judge in Madrid granted a couple joint custody of their dog in a rare ruling that marks a step toward the recognition of pets as living beings under the law, to be considered different from property. The couple, a man and a woman who had been together for 20 months and shared a border collie for more than a year, went to trial to determine who the pet should live with following their breakup.

The judge granted “joint custody of Panda (the dog) to each one of the caretakers and people responsible,” taking into account that the “love one might have toward their pet doesn’t exclude that the animal can also receive affection from other people,” according to Spain’s RTVE, which had access to the ruling. The judge found that “the formal ownership of the animal, either as an owner or adoptee, cannot prevail” over “the affection of the petitioner.”

The lawsuit was filed by the woman in September 2020, the judge’s resolution was dated Oct. 7 of this year, and both parties were notified last week. Spain’s Congress has taken steps to change the country’s civil code to stipulate that pets should be considered “sentient beings,” rather than property, but it hasn’t been approved yet.

[From The Washington Post via People]

Years ago I went on a couple of dates with a guy who was separated and had visitation with his dog, which lived with his ex. He really missed that dog, but as an aside it was obvious he wasn’t over his ex, because he called her his “wife,” not his “ex.” (Another guy I went out with did that too, what is up with that? It’s a red flag.) I’m surprised that we haven’t heard more stories about couples going to court over custody of their pets, but maybe that’s because it’s somewhat cut and dried. In the US pets are considered the property of the person who bought or was gifted them, with exceptions in certain states. In New York, Alaska, California and Illinois, the judge may rule with the best interests of the pet in mind. (In France, animals/pets have been considered living beings under the law since 2014.)

Border collies seem adaptable, but so many pets would get stressed going to a different home every month. Also, Panda the border collie’s owners split up in September of last year and the ruling wasn’t issued until now. Did Panda get to see both parents over the past year? I want Panda to be OK!

Goofy and majestic! I need a dog so badly.

Brooke Mueller failed again to have her boys removed from Denise Richards

First of all, have you seen the latest Denise Richards bikini photos? They’re from an agency we don’t work with so we don’t have them, but you can see them here. Denise looks great, albeit a little skinny. This is her bread and butter, and she earns minor gigs and headlines where she can.

Denise also makes a very nice living as Charlie Sheen’s ex. She brings in $55,000 a month in child support, as does Charlie’s third ex wife, Brooke Mueller. As you know, Brooke is in rehab for the 20th time – really. Child Protective Services has stripped her of custody of her twin four year-old boys, who were thought to be in danger, and has awarded temporary guardianship to Denise. Denise has made it clear that she’s not out for additional money from Charlie and that she’s happy to care for the twins, but that’s not enough for Brooke. It all comes down to money for Brooke, because if she permanently looses custody of the boys she also loses the $55k a month that Charlie pays her. That’s her only income, and she’s twice tried to get her boys moved from Denise’s care to her brother, who would presumably get Charlie’s child support and slip some to her.

Both of those attempts failed, so Brooke made a last ditch effort to have little Max and Bob moved to live with her brother, and that was shot down in court too:

The judge in the child dependency court refused to make any changes to the current living situation of the 4-year-olds, under the roof of Sheen’s second ex-wife, Denise Richards.

“Brooke again failed to provide any concrete evidence as to why the judge should strip Denise of temporary guardianship of the boys,” a source with knowledge of the situation told Radar. “The twins are thriving in Denise’s care. Brooke’s brother, Scott, lives in Orange County — and any move in the children’s living situation would cause significant upheaval. They’d have to be uprooted from their preschool and their sisters.”

Mueller recently checked into the Betty Ford Center for a 30-day treatment stint, making it her 20th time she’s entered a treatment facility to seek help for substance abuse.

As RadarOnline.com first revealed, Mueller and Sheen’s twins were taken away from her because of fears their mother’s drug use could endanger them. Richards was given temporary custody of the boys with Sheen’s blessing.

“Brooke just doesn’t seem to grasp the seriousness of the situation involving custody of the boys,” one source told us. “She is used to just snapping her fingers and having her lawyers work their magic, in an attempt to make the problem go away.”

And there’s a whole lot more at stake in this custody battle, too: One insider noted that the boys are their troubled mother’s “only source of income.

“Brooke is only concerned with making sure that Charlie continues to pay her child support of $55,000 each month,” the insider said.

[From Radar Online]

Maybe Brooke needs to get the money taken away so she can’t spend it on drugs. She needs a roof over her head and her bills paid, but that’s it. In fact it would be cheaper for Charlie to pay for rehab for her indefinitely rather than continue to pay child support on children she’s too doped up to pay attention to. He saves over $20 grand a month when she’s at Betty Ford.
