Kim Kardashian in vintage satin Galliano in Las Vegas: righteous or awful?

FFN_RIA_Kardashian_Kim_072316_52130959

Here are some photos of Kim Kardashian in Vegas on Friday night. She attended/hosted a party at Hakkasan at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino. Kim is one of the most expensive “gets” for Vegas nightclubs. If they want to go cheap, they get Scott Disick, you know? I suspect that Kim gets mid-six figures plus crazy accommodations per Vegas appearance. Kim wore vintage Galliano to the event, which… the seams seem off? And those shoes were not the best choice. But Kim looked small, and she was definitely showing off her achievement of her “goal weight,” which was to lose 70 pounds post-pregnancy. I think that puts her in the 120-130 lb range, according to Kim. It’s always so difficult to assess Kim’s weight because she’s so curvy with those boobs and that butt, but Kim really is very short and compact.

Post-receipts, Kim has returned to business as usual. It’s an interesting move, isn’t it? She’s chosen not to harp on and on about it. She’s chosen not to emphasize, on social media or in interviews, her exposure and takedown of Taylor Swift. Kim fundamentally changed the gossip landscape and she isn’t even really taking a victory lap. I suspect that there will be discussions in future interviews, and I suspect that Kim is waiting patiently to see what Taylor does next. We’ll see. Meanwhile, Kim has been talking to the press, just not about Tay-Tay. She’s been talking about her weight, and she’s been talking about her babies.

Kim Kardashian says her and Kanye West’s second child, son Saint West, is a “Daddy’s boy.” In fact, the baby told her so himself, so to speak.

“He said Dada today, three times!” Kim told E! News exclusively at the MGM Grand nightclub Hakkasan in Las Vegas Friday night. “And I was like, ‘Wait what?’ Kanye was so excited, he was like, ‘I told him to say that.’ And I was like, just I really wanted him to say ‘Mama’ first.”

And the couple’s first and eldest child, daughter North West, is the opposite of her brother.

“I have to go back and see what North said first but I think he’s, like, you know, a Daddy’s boy and North is a Mama’s girl, so we each have one,” Kim told E! News.

I’m also including some photos of Kim earlier on the day on Friday, in West Hollywood. People are freaking out about her fur-strap sandals.

Madonna ‘insisted’ on having the Met Gala carpet to herself for photos

wenn23819544

I’ve never been a die-hard Madonna fan. I liked her for many years, and if I have a reason to defend her, I will. But this current incarnation of Madonna is just really uncomfortable. Her appearance at the Met Gala was really messy, and when she tried to speak to the reporters, her face could barely function because she’s had so much work done. She’s clinging to her youth, absolutely. But even more than that, it’s like she’s clinging to this idea she has of herself, that she’s always going to be the most important, the most notable, the most scandalous and the most discussed person in the room. And is that the reality? People were discussing her Met Gala appearance, absolutely. But did she “scandalize” anyone? Or were we just like, “Oh, God. Please put it away”? Page Six says that Madonna and her people demanded that all other celebrities clear off the gala red carpet while Madonna strutted her butt cheeks. Ugh.

A-listers, make way for Madonna. The Queen of Pop, squeezed into a peculiar posterior-baring bondage outfit, halted the red carpet at the Met Gala for her arrival.

A source tells us, “Madonna cleared the red carpet to make her big entrance, even though she was not really dressed. All these A-listers had to wait for Madonna, who insisted on having the carpet to herself, to have her pictures taken.”

Those held up and forced to wait on line while Madge did her thing included Katy Perry, Kim and Kanye, Naomi Campbell, Solange and all the designers. The source added that things got funny when Perry got impatient and started yelling out at limelight-loving Madonna, “Are we ready now? Can we go?”

[From Page Six]

Madonna making Kanye West wait is… appropriate. But pulling “rank” like that at the Met Gala is just so cheesy, especially in Madonna’s situation these days (her Sad Clown act) and especially considering her Givenchy ensemble was absolutely ridiculous.

Oh, and Joan Collins (of all people) had some mean words to say about Madonna:

“I thought it was a costume party, Halloween look, but it’s the Met Ball which is supposedly one of the most glamorous and fashionable events and I thought that the bottom thing coming out was a bit over the top… I am the least ageist person… if you want to do that, be prepared to be made a figure of fun because I don’t know anybody who hasn’t been laughing about it.”

[From Express]

Is this how Madonna “scandalizes” these days? By being the joke, by being laughed at, by being thought of as out-of-touch? It’s almost enough to make me feel sorry for her. But then I look at these photos – where Madonna looked like she was soaking up the flashes – and I don’t feel sorry for her.

Diane Kruger slams ‘drunk’ Peter O’Toole: ‘He wasn’t the most pleasant person’

Remember the movie Troy? Brad Pitt starred as Achilles, Orlando Bloom was Paris, Eric Bana was Hector (ROWR), Peter O’Toole was Priam and Diane Kruger was Helen of Troy. It actually did have a great cast and it did well at the box office, but the film was not all that great. Apparently, it wasn’t a great experience for Diane Kruger either. Diane and Norman Reedus interviewed each other for Buzzfeed to promote their new movie, and Diane ended up throwing some major shade on the late Peter O’Toole. Keep in mind… O’Toole was 71 years old around the time that they were filming Troy, and he had been a life-long hellraiser and drunk. And Kruger was somewhat surprised to find him drunk and exhausted.

Diane on her worst costar: “You know who wasn’t very pleasant, was Peter O’Toole…It kind of sucked. He’s dead, so I can say that. But he wasn’t the most pleasant person. He was just a drunk, and Peter O’Toole. You know, he had a two-day part, and I played Helen of Troy and he was Peter O’Toole, and he just wanted to make sure that everybody knew that he was Peter O’Toole. And he could barely make it up the stairs. We were on a set that was – you know, you have to climb, like, I don’t know, 100 steps to go up. He was just – first of all, everybody thought he was gonna die right there and then. Because it was, you know, 120 degrees, and he had to walk up 100 stairs. And he was very old, and very drunk.”

Reedus on her story: “It’s kind of like the story of Elvis on the toilet with a peanut butter sandwich, like, I don’t wanna hear it.”

Diane: “You just asked me!…He was great. You would’ve loved him! You guys would’ve, like, been drinking together and it would’ve been great.”

[From The Daily Mail]

I think less of Kruger for talking this way about A) someone who is dead and B) an acting legend. First of all, when someone dies, that’s not when you should slam them! O’Toole was a notorious drunk/alcoholic, as he discussed at length in his memoirs and interviews. My guess is that he didn’t really take the Troy gig seriously (very few people did, judging from the acting) and decided to just phone it in, half-drunk. Was it unprofessional? Sure. But still, I feel like complaining about it after the man is dead is sort of uncool too. O’Toole was acting poorly on a two-day job, in 120-degree heat, while half-in-the-bag. A lot of people would have dined out on that story for years!

Kelly rap real red RIP scandal seth meyers size son stage sur tall thin TMZ Win

US: Kelly Ripa may quit Live if she doesn’t get one of her friends to co-host

2013 CNN Heroes: An All Star Tribute
I saw Live with Michael and Kelly yesterday and while I haven’t watched this show enough to have a frame of reference it looked like things were back to normal. They came out holding hands, they were joking around about eyelash extensions and butt padding and they seemed to have a great rapport. At times Kelly looked uncomfortable but you had to be looking for it. If it wasn’t for all the stories you wouldn’t know that they were having issues and that Michael is leaving in just two weeks. They never brought it up. He’s leaving early though, whether that was due to Kelly throwing a fit or just an executive decision it’s hard to tell. Kelly’s issue seems to be more with the ABC executives who kept her out of the loop than with Michael, who was just following orders not to tell her. Kelly is said to still be playing hardball at ABC after staying away for five days. Us is reporting that she’s threatened to quit if she doesn’t get one of her friends, either Anderson Cooper or Andy Cohen, to cohost.

A source exclusively reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly that Kelly Ripa “is talking about leaving” Live with Kelly and Michael after Michael Strahan announced his exit from the show for a permanent gig at Good Morning America. (Strahan was originally supposed to make the move in September, but the show announced this week that his last day on air will be May 13.)

Although Ripa, 45, returned to the show after a four-episode hiatus Tuesday, April 26, the source says she still feels “blindsided” that producers and Strahan, 44, broke the news to her just moments before the April 19 public announcement: “She considers it a sign of disrespect.”

Now, the 15-year Live vet will wait to see who producers seat beside her to help weigh her options for the future. They’re considering actor Jerry O’Connell, says the source, but Ripa “hopes Anderson Cooper or Andy Cohen gets the job.”

Unfortunately, it’s not likely that one of Ripa’s pals will come aboard, due to their prior commitments (the CNN journalist is covering the election and the Watch What Happens Live host is under contract with Bravo), so the show may not go on for Ripa. Says the source, “Unless one of them can come on, she doesn’t really want to do it.”

[From US Magazine]

This is likely a negotiation tactic to make sure that Kelly has a say this time, because if she really means this it’s short-sighted for a couple of reason. One, just because she’s good friends with someone (she has known both Cooper and Cohen for years) does not mean they’re the best choice for a co-host. Working with a friend can bring up all sorts of problems you wouldn’t have with someone you only know in a professional capacity. And two, both of those guys are super busy with their own shows as US points out. This sounds like Kelly is just trying to get her way, but keep in mind that it could also be a planted story meant to make her look like a diva. We know the network is not above that, think of how TMZ got the news that Kelly’s finances are overextended.

People reports that both Cooper and Cohen will come on as guest hosts following Strahan’s exit and that additional hosts will include Josh Groban and Seth Meyers. It’s unknown when a permanent host will be chosen and a source tells People “They’re prepared to keep cycling people through even if its not resolved by the fall.

E! Online has a think piece about this while debacle. (I really like their editorials lately, they seem to be going in a new direction.) They have quotes from a media expert who says that the way this has played out so far “it looks like Kelly won” against the network. Their source also gives ABC credit for letting Kelly say her piece at the beginning of her return show and not trying to censor or pre-tape her remarks. Also, Bellamy Young of “Scandal” was a guest on Tuesday’s show and she said that although there was tension backstage it all felt completely professional during her interview.

Kathy Lee Gifford, who was replaced by Kelly on Live 15 years ago after she put in 15 years with Regis, has some advice for Kelly which sounds like delicious shade. She said “Be totally professional. I would keep anything that is going on between you private. It’s nobody’s business but yours. But always, always be professional at your job. That’s what you’re hired to do.” You know Kathy does not consider it professional to take a bunch of days off work and then insist that a friend be hired to work with you.

Duchess Kate wore buttery Emilia Wickstead for her Bhutan arrival: lovely?

Look very carefully at these photos… I think someone finally convinced the Duchess of Cambridge to add weights to her hems!! These are pics from the Duke and Duchess’s arrival in Bhutan today. For the plane exit (which I’m sure counts as an event for these two), Kate decided to wear an Emilia Wickstead coatdress in a muted butter yellow. The dress costs $169, because of course it does. While it doesn’t look like it was very windy today in Bhutan, I still think that someone got through to Kate and finally, at long last, convinced her to take precautions with her hems. Now if we could only get her to stop slouching.

After the arrival, Will and Kate joined the Dragon King and Queen for a special reception in Thimpu Dzong, and Kate changed into another outfit – you can see the ensemble here. She paired a £340 Paul and Joe blouse – with a built-in cape – with a long, straight skirt that looked somewhat traditional for Bhutan. That was fine, I think. But she paired the ensemble with her nude court shoes and it just looked ridiculous.

Update: here’s video of Kate walking in that Bhutanese inspired outfit.

Gwyneth Paltrow: Dill is for peasants, ‘it’s not really a food, it offends me’

FFN_Pal_Gwen_GGFF_041216_52021486

Gwyneth Paltrow is still doing the promotional rounds to support It’s All Easy, her latest tedious and elitist cookbook. And as we’ve already covered, the promotion is Classic Goop, full of amazing throw-away judgments on food, cooking and how the peasants live and eat. Apparently, Gwyneth has a hate-on for dill. DILL. Of all things. Hating dill is like hating mustard: pointless. Gwyneth thinks dill is offensive. She also thinks microwaves are the devil, which we already learned this week.

Her least favorite food: “I really don’t like dill. It’s not really a food, but it really offends me.”

No microwaves: “I believe in old fashioned ways of heating things up. It’s really not so tough to put an oven on or gasoline steaming. It’s like five minutes.”

No pre-made salads: “My philosophy is, it’s really easy to make your own salad at home. It’s cheaper, it’s healthier, you know what’s in it. I’ve had some great experiences with the grab-and-go salad, and some really, really terrible ones.”

Getting her kids to eat healthier: “I really find if I put out lots of dipping sauces, or lettuce cups, or they’re filling things themselves or making tacos, they’re more involved. …They’ll eat more vegetables. My kids are pretty good at home. I try to keep the pantry pretty clean, but when we’re out in the world, it’s all Oreos and Cheez-Its and stuff like that, unfortunately.”

[From ET]

CHEEZ-ITS! I’ll admit, Cheez-Its and Oreos are not for me… usually. But then again, I have like five bags of discounted Easter candy in my house because I’m obsessed with chocolate-and-peanut-butter eggs. We all have our little food quirks, is my point. Gwyneth’s “dill is not really a food” quirk reminds me of one of my dad’s food quirks – my dad was always insistent that bacon was not a meal. One of his favorite food-related sayings was “bacon is a condiment.” As in, bacon should never be used as a stand-alone meal, but merely an accessory to a meal.

Meanwhile, Gwyneth was asked again about her old quote about “I’d rather smoke crack than eat cheese from a can.” When asked if she still feels that way, Goop said: “Hell yes. You know, crack might be extreme, but spray cheese is not my kind of party.” Then this perfect tweet happened:

Melissa McCarthy Has a Message for Body Shamers

Melissa McCarthy recently showed off a 50-pound weight loss, but truth be told, she doesn’t really want to talk about it.

“If that is the most interesting thing about me, I need to go have a lavender farm in Minnesota and give this up,” she told Refinery29.

“There are so many more intriguing things about women than their butt or their this or their that. It can’t be the first question every time, or a question at all.”

Regrettably, women today are still being scrutinized for their weight, and today, the actress took to Instagram to vent her frustration.

She posted an image of a sign stuck to a mirror that reads, “WARNING: Reflections in this mirror may be distorted by socially constructed ideas of ‘beauty.'”

Melissa McCarthy's shares Instagram post on body image

Well said.

In the caption, she included her own poignant message:

“We have to stop categorizing and judging women based on their bodies. We are teaching young girls to strive for unattainable perfection instead of feeling healthy and happy in their own skin. ‘Imagine we are linked not ranked.’ Gloria Steinem”

Looks like she’s ready to start a conversation, or more likely, end the one that’s been going on for far too long.

The star is tired of women being valued solely for their bodies when they have so much more to offer.

“We’re always being ranked and when we come together, you know, women are amazing together,” she said in a recent interview.

“Women are friends. Women are not really competing with each other. I think everyone wants to make it seem that way with who wore it better, whose butt is better, whose glasses are crazier. I’ve never had any of those conversations in my life.”

For the record, we are fans of everything Melissa has to offer, whether she’s cracking us up in film and TV, designing a fashion line or demonstrating her newfound skill: straight up killing it in a lip sync battle.
