Hannah Waddingham wore a custom Marchesa to the Emmys: lovely or overworked?

It was pretty crazy to watch Ted Lasso’s fall from awards-season grace. Lasso’s seasons one and two were heavily favored at all the awards shows, and most of the actors picked up big awards, from Golden Globes to Critics Choice to Emmys. Then Season 3 came and went and society collectively moved on. Lasso’s final season was shut out of last night’s Emmys. Deserved or not? Anyway, Hannah Waddingham turned up in this custom Marchesa, made to match her eyes. The top of it is actually great, beautifully done. The bottom half is pretty extra. Bonus: Colman Domingo in custom Louis Vuitton.

Juno Temple wore a very “basic” Vera Wang and she presented with Brett Goldstein. Trendspotting: peplums are making a comeback in 2024.

Here are some of the dudes from Ted Lasso. Did Jason Sudeikis avoid all of the red carpet interviews? I didn’t even know he was there. I hope Phil Dunster gets a lot of post-Lasso work!

Julianne Moore wore a Chanel sack dress to the Critics Choice: amazing or blah?

Given the SAG Award nominations’ complete lack of love for May December, it feels like Natalie Portman is maybe phasing out her awards-show appearances. Julianne Moore is not! She and Charles Melton attended the Critics Choice Awards, although their film was once again blanked for awards. I enjoyed May December but I also sort of think that there are more worthy awards nominees, but we’ll see. I still feel like Melton should get an Oscar nom. Meanwhile, Julianne wore this glorious Chanel sack dress! Melton’s (zoot) suit is Valentino.

Camila Morrone also wore Chanel – she’s a lovely young woman with a great figure, and I have no idea why Chanel gave her a dress which makes her look pregnant.

Matt Bomer. Just… Matt Bomer. What a beautiful man. A vampire! He and his Fellow Travelers costar Jonathan Bailey kissed on the lips when Bailey won his award. It was HOT.

Elizabeth Debicki in an Oscar de La Renta jumpsuit. Not gonna lie, she phoned this in. She’s probably saving her best look for tonight’s Emmys.

Juno Temple in a simple black down. It’s pretty crazy to watch Ted Lasso get completely blanked at the Critics Choice and Golden Globes. The Bear is the hot new show, plus it feels like people were really upset with how Ted Lasso’s final season went down. I wonder if the show will be blanked at the Emmys tonight?

Juno Temple in Versace at the SAG Awards: striking or too severe?

Juno Temple deserves all the flowers she’s getting for playing Keeley on Ted Lasso. She was the only Ted Lasso star on the red carpet in LA last night. The rest of the cast was simulcast from London, where Jason Sudeikis won for Male Actor in a Comedy Series and the entire cast won for Comedy Series!

Juno was nominated for Female Actor in a Comedy Series, which went to Jean Smart for Hacks. Her dress was Versace, she said it was chain mail and she loved it. It’s a gorgeous dress and fits her beautifully. Her styling was off and at first I thought she was Anne Heche! Juno is about to work on Everest, which is set in the 1920s, so I’m assuming her haircolor and eyebrows are for that role. (That would also explain why she’s in LA!) I wonder why no one filled them in though. She’s still so pretty, it’s just a different style than we’re used to.

Also nominated in Juno’s category was her costar Hannah Waddingham, who wore Dolce & Gabbana. You couldn’t see the phenomenal fishtail skirt on camera as we saw her mostly from the waist up. This is old Hollywood glam, I just wish it was by a different designer.

Sandra Oh, nominated in the same category for The Chair, was in Carolina Herrera. I used to love Herrera’s looks on Renee Zellweger a few years ago, when they were more classic and understated. Tiered ruffles always look so dated to me, but I like this from the waist up. I hope The Chair gets renewed by Netflix.

Hannah Waddingham in Christian Siriano at the Emmys: pretty in pink?

One of my favorite things about Ted Lasso is seeing Hannah Waddingham enjoy everything about the show, the promotion and the awards. Hannah seems like maybe the coolest person in the world, and she was having the time of her life at last night’s Emmys. It helped that her category was first up, and that she won so early. She got to dance, party and cheer for everybody without any trace of angst for the rest of the night. No one was having more fun than her. And Ted Lasso kept winning: it picked up Emmys for Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent), Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso himself) and the show won for Best Comedy.

Hannah also has a bangin’ body, and she decided to showcase that bangin’ body in this pink Christian Siriano dress. Was it my favorite? Not really. Do I think she’s styled better on Lasso? Yes. It’s the Mad Men thing – all of those women looked better on the show, so it was kind of disappointing to see them styled for an awards show. Still, I’m happy for Hannah and she had a great night. Oh, and Seth Rogen mispronounced her name but oh well.

Here’s Juno Temple in Versace. Not my favorite look, but she looked cute and genuinely happy for Hannah.

Jason Sudeikis wore Tom Ford and he made sure everyone knew that it was a group effort.
