Miley Cyrus says she’s both a morning and a night person

I do not find the act of waking up in the morning to be gentle or peaceful in any way. Rather, the sound of my alarm sets in motion a somewhat tragic sequence in which I revolt at the very idea of consciousness and grapple with processing my surroundings as alertness ramps up, regretfully. The guttural shock of the wakening plays out in true Groundhog Day fashion, as if each morning were the first morning. This all sounds exceedingly negative and I used to beat myself up about it until I better understood that there legitimately are morning and night people and that most of the world operates on morning people hours. Hey world, stop trying to fit my square peg in the round hole of am hours!! All that preamble to discuss a new interview with Miley Cyrus where she says she swings both ways, identifying as both a morning and night person. So… she’s an awake person. But she readily admits that she leans towards the morning side, and described waking up in the morning with a zeal that I can only dream about.

Miley Cyrus has a zest for life.

In a Wednesday, Sept. 24 interview with Vogue to promote her new Maybelline campaign, the “Malibu” singer got candid about her sleep schedule.

“I’m a morning person and unfortunately I’m kind of a night person too,” Cyrus, 32, said.

She added, “If I were one or the other, I’m a morning person. I am in the best mood the second that my eyes are open, and it’s unbearable for anyone else around.”

In the past, Cyrus said, she would get “frustrated” with her friends who would sleep for too long.

“Now I realize that turning on the way that I do is as hard for them as it is for me to turn off,” she explained.

Though she has a lot of energy in the morning, the “Flowers” songstress said her coffee is “an absolute must.”

“Today I’m a weirdo that did a cold brew and used regular, degular milk, no special processed thing from the tree. It is just from a regular old cow,” Cyrus said.

Elsewhere in the interview, she opened up about the joys of organizing different areas of her life.

“I am joyful when I’m organizing and cleaning — it never feels like a task to me,” the “Angels Like You” singer told the outlet. “Everything I do in my life is a little bit intense, but it has to be holistic. And that’s why my eras, they’re not a costume, they’re actually like a metamorphosis or a true evolution for me personally.”

She continued, “I’ve even gained the name Queen of Pristine because in every corner, every drawer, every friendship, every family dynamic, everything is just getting an upgrade in the cleanup.”

[From People]

“I am joyful when I’m organizing and cleaning — it never feels like a task to me.” Oh come on, now you’re just rubbing it in, Miley! Is it possible to be that jazzed about cleaning, outside of being a Disney princess with a menagerie of rodents on hand to assist and sing back up? I guess it really is, in which case I’ll have what she’s having! Not that I want to relinquish my status as a night owl, never! (And speaking of, Miley doesn’t really elaborate here on her night person tendencies.) But anyway, yeah, it would be nice to begin the day like Miley, “in the best mood,” and keep it going throughout so that even housework brings me joy. In Miley’s case, maybe she’s born with it… Which is my flawless segue into her Maybelline campaign! She was just unveiled as their new global spokesperson, and she even wrote a song for it, called “Maybe It’s.” The song obviously plays with the beauty brand’s longtime slogan “Maybe it’s Maybelline.” The whole thing is cute! Or maybe I should say “pristine.”

Miley Cyrus says gardening helps her sobriety, is ‘part of a practice’ like yoga

Miley Cyrus has been open about her drug and alcohol use, as well as her sobriety journey. She was sober for almost a year, beginning in late 2019, but relapsed sometime towards the end of 2020. She gave some really great interviews in which she talked about her addictive personality and how she accepted her relapse for what it was while continuing to move forward. Miley has been back on the wagon for almost five years and has worked hard to maintain her sobriety.

Miley is on the cover of CR Fashion’s Fall/Winter Issue. Pamela Anderson did the interview, which you can read in full here. At one point, Miley brings up how much she loves gardening. She finds gardening to be therapeutic and considers it a “very personal process” that you see through from start to finish. Gardening also helps keep her grounded, which is an important part of her sober lifestyle.

“Gardening is something you do for yourself. When we’ve shared so much of ourselves, having those little precious times with something simple — like putting a seed in the ground and nurturing it — it becomes a very personal process,” Cyrus tells Anderson in the interview released on Sept. 22.

She then gets deeper into the positive impact gardening has had on her, including how it has become like a “medicine” for her in her sober journey.

“Having that has been the medicine that’s kept me grounded in my sober lifestyle,” she adds. “It’s part of a practice, the way yoga might be: getting out into nature, doing something with my hands, and having a creative outlet that isn’t about fame or success.”

She notes how it’s a “genuine win” to put seeds in the ground and actually see flowers grow in the spring. She was inspired to do that at her own home, she says, thanks to photographer Vijat Mohindra.

“I did that on a hillside a while ago. I was leaving for a tour, and I just threw seeds out, thinking maybe when I came home something magic would happen. And it did,” she explains.

Referring to Mohindra, Cyrus adds, “He threw these seeds, and I swear it never would’ve happened without him. When I came back, there were 10,000 daisies. I was like, ‘We didn’t even throw these out—why do I have 40 species of roses in my backyard?’ I came back and my whole hillside looked like a princess fairy garden.”

She also credits her mom, Tish Cyrus, for exposing her to gardening and always having plants in the house while she was growing up.

“My dad always said our house looked like an old folks’ home, because she’d have flowers in every single room — that was very ’90s, with all the potpourri,” she recalled. “My mom always loved flowers; she always had them around the house. But it was simple gardening.”

Miley adds that her mom started to become an “incredible gardener” during the COVID-19 pandemic, when “she really discovered something unique” about her gardening abilities.

“A plant could be dead for a year, and she’ll bring it back to life,” the “Something Beautiful” singer says.

Sing it with me: ”She can grow herself flowers…” Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. I love that song. Anyway, I think it’s awesome that Miley’s taken up gardening. This past summer, she revealed that her sobriety is a big reason why she is not touring right now. She needs structure and going on tour messes with her stability. It makes perfect sense that gardening would be such a positive, grounding force in her life. It’s also wonderful that she’s put in the work and is sharing that with fans who may need encouragement on overcoming addictions.

When Miley mentioned that her mother was also into gardening, it got me curious. Tish used to smoke a lot of weed and Miley once admitted in a 2018 interview that after taking a lengthy break from pot, her mom got her hooked on it again. As it turns out, Tish quit smoking last year and has credited Miley with helping her through her own sobriety journey. Good for both of them! It really sounds like Miley is in a great place right now. I truly love that for her.

Beyonce & Miley Cyrus performed ‘II Most Wanted’ for the first time in Paris

We haven’t talked much about Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter tour, or Kendrick Lamar’s GNX tour either. Both tours are massively successful and I love seeing all of the videos and photos on my timeline, but the stories are usually just “hey, Beyonce or Kendrick did something cool and everyone loved it!” Well, Beyonce has taken Cowboy Carter to Europe, and it’s been really great to see Europeans attempt the “cowboy” dress code. Last night, Beyonce began her three-night concert series in Paris. Beyonce loves Paris, and she always does something extra special for the French crowds. Well, last night, she brought out Miley Cyrus for their first-ever live performance of “II Most Wanted.” I’ve said this before, but I was really surprised by how much I love this song and it quickly became one of my favorites on the album. The way Miley and Beyonce harmonize on it is really gorgeous. The performance last night was amazing too (this is not the complete performance).

It’s just cool! Beyonce got Post Malone & Shaboozey to drop everything and perform with her on Christmas Day, and now she got Miley to drop everything to perform in Paris. Whenever Beyonce calls, other artists just… do whatever they can for Queen B. Miley also got on her social media afterwards and wrote about how much she loves Beyonce and she promised to be Bey’s shotgun rider for life.

.@Beyonce to be beside such a humble, gracious, legendary DIVA was a dream come true. Thank you for the opportunity to perform in Paris together & sing our song about friendship. To have learned from you & loved you my whole life, & then be standing together in matching gold… pic.twitter.com/h8LcbBeNoy

Aimee Lou Wood Jenna Ortega Met Gala Miley Cyrus Patrick Schwarzenegger

Was Miley Cyrus’s Alaia one of the worst looks of the Met Gala?

Given Miley Cyrus’s history of cultural appropriation, I was not surprised that she turned up at the Black Dandy-themed Met Gala. I was surprised that she didn’t seem to want to do anything with the theme. Miley wore a two-piece look from Alaia with Cartier jewelry. This is so… nothingburger. It doesn’t have anything to do with anything, it’s not some kind of obscure reference nor is it any kind of homage. It’s just a boring look. Miley needs to stop messing with her face as well, my god.

Aimee Lou Wood also wore Alaia, and she seemingly came to her first-ever Met Gala at the invitation of her White Lotus friend and costar Patrick Schwarzenegger. Patrick wore Balmain. I fear that he was one of the few white guys who nailed the hell out of the theme. Aimee’s look was… eh. Her ensemble actually telegraphs her Britishness – this is exactly what an offbeat British person would choose.

Jenna Ortega, like Patrick, wore Balmain. Her dress is made of rulers!! Insane. Like Miley, there’s something off about her face these days, but I suspect that in Jenna’s case, it’s just about her eyebrows.

Fashion Halle Berry Jodie Turner-Smith Kaia Gerber Lily Rose Depp Miley Cyrus

Lily Rose Depp wore a very unfortunate Chanel ensemble at the VF Oscar party

Here are more photos from the Vanity Fair Oscar party. A lot of the Oscar attendees, winners, nominees and presenters make a big deal about changing their clothes after the ceremony, and it’s always interesting to see the extreme difference between “classy Oscar look” versus “thirtsy party look.” Speaking of, Lily Rose Depp changed up her Chanel looks. For the parties, she wore this tragic belly-dancer-esque ensemble. Is any of it supposed to be worn this way, like a hula skirt and a Dukes of Hazzard crop top? What a f–king mess!

Jodie Turner Smith in a custom Vivienne Westwood… it’s beautiful and weird but I take issue with putting that much extra fabric around a woman’s midsection.

Miley Cyrus bleached her eyebrows and then, to top it all off, she did those itty-bitty baby bangs for the Oscar parties. What is wrong with her? I’m not saying every woman has to be “pretty” 24-7, but there’s “rejecting patriarchal beauty standards” and then there’s “bleaching your eyebrows and giving yourself baby-bangs trauma.” Plus whatever is happening with her mouth lately.

Kaia Gerber in vintage Valentino. Is she channeling her mom or does Kaia just look so much like Cindy when she does big, bouncy hair? The ‘90s Valentino adds to the Cindy Crawford vibe too, although I will always prefer the original. The look is better with the sheer cape too.

Halle Berry wore Georges Chakra to the party… meh.

Anok Yai Fashion H.E.R. Miley Cyrus Oscars Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez wore a stunning Ralph Lauren gown to the Oscars: best of the night?

Selena Gomez was definitely one of the best-dressed women of the Oscars. I know I’ve been saying that about a lot of women, but I really do believe it – it was a surprisingly good night for fashion, albeit a bit boring and same-y overall. There were no huge trainwreck-style moments, at least that I saw, although Miley Cyrus really did try, bless her heart. Anyway, Selena has a shockingly good awards-season run, and her Ralph Lauren dress at the Oscars capped it all off. As a fellow big-rig hauler, I’ve been fascinated to see how Selena dresses for her large bust. She’s giving us a masterclass in clever tailoring and what I assume is smart foundation garments, including a minimizer of some variety. Selena’s team apparently based this on a Sofia Loren look, which makes sense. Her necklace is Bulgari, and yes, her fiance Benny Blanco was there. I would pay $50 to hear what Taylor Swift thinks of Selena’s fiance.

As for Miley Cyrus… yeah, she tried it. She wore a McQueen look with dumb gloves (is she Madonna??). Minus the gloves, the dress is fine, almost boring. But Miley’s styling included bleached brows and her whole face looked “off.”

Anok Yai wore Marni – eh. She’s so beautiful, but this looked so cheap.

H.E.R. also wore Ralph Lauren, like Selena. Someone always tries to channel Ferrero Rocher, and this year it was H.E.R.

Miley Cyrus wore Celine & sunglasses to the Golden Globes: fine or annoying?

Miley Cyrus went to the Golden Globes as a nominee – she was nominated in Best Song, for “Beautiful That Way” from The Last Showgirl. Miley stayed true to herself, I guess, and wore this Celine dress which seemed slightly undercooked for the Globes. And yet, props to her for putting together a real look and not making an ass out of herself. Personally, I still haven’t gotten over her (alleged) buccal fat removal, which changed her face in a huge way. But other than that, she looks healthy and focused.

Ariana DeBose looked like the movie star she is at the Golden Globes – she wore a dramatic Oscar de la Renta which was perfect for her at this moment – classy, elegant, but not too “look at me” because she wasn’t a nominee this year.

Pamela Anderson also wore Oscar de la Renta – I saw her interview on E!, and she was just so honored to be nominated and invited to the show. She’s a really gentle soul, so I’m not going to say much about her dress. I will say that I love how her sons always have their mom’s back no matter what.

Amy Adams in Dolce & Gabbana – this was fine and the color was beautiful. I felt sorry for her because she was there for Nightbitch. She’s unfortunately going to be called “Nightbitch’s Amy Adams” for a while.

Let’s end with Isabella Rosselini, looking spectacular in Dolce & Gabbana. My guess is that the red is supposed to mimic something specific with the Catholic Church? Because she was nominated for Conclave (she didn’t win, boo).
