Miley Cyrus wore Celine & sunglasses to the Golden Globes: fine or annoying?

Miley Cyrus went to the Golden Globes as a nominee – she was nominated in Best Song, for “Beautiful That Way” from The Last Showgirl. Miley stayed true to herself, I guess, and wore this Celine dress which seemed slightly undercooked for the Globes. And yet, props to her for putting together a real look and not making an ass out of herself. Personally, I still haven’t gotten over her (alleged) buccal fat removal, which changed her face in a huge way. But other than that, she looks healthy and focused.

Ariana DeBose looked like the movie star she is at the Golden Globes – she wore a dramatic Oscar de la Renta which was perfect for her at this moment – classy, elegant, but not too “look at me” because she wasn’t a nominee this year.

Pamela Anderson also wore Oscar de la Renta – I saw her interview on E!, and she was just so honored to be nominated and invited to the show. She’s a really gentle soul, so I’m not going to say much about her dress. I will say that I love how her sons always have their mom’s back no matter what.

Amy Adams in Dolce & Gabbana – this was fine and the color was beautiful. I felt sorry for her because she was there for Nightbitch. She’s unfortunately going to be called “Nightbitch’s Amy Adams” for a while.

Let’s end with Isabella Rosselini, looking spectacular in Dolce & Gabbana. My guess is that the red is supposed to mimic something specific with the Catholic Church? Because she was nominated for Conclave (she didn’t win, boo).

Amy Adams on her ‘Nightbitch’ chin whiskers: ‘The hair on the face — that was mine’

Amy Adams is currently promoting Nightbitch, adapted from Rachel Yoder’s book of the same name. It’s about a new mother who gives up her career for her baby and starts to feel like she’s turning into a dog. When the film was announced, it reminded many 30 Rock fans of the kind of jokey film title in Tracy Jordan’s CV. But Nightbitch is real, and it premiered at TIFF, to mixed reviews. People love Amy Adams and people want the best for her. But no one is sure that this is the best project for her. Still, Amy loves the film and she’s very happy to talk about it. Amy covers the latest issue of Variety, and here are some highlights from the interview:

On her “look” in Nightbitch: “I’ve had people be like, ‘Oh my gosh, you looked awful.’ I was like, ‘You do realize that’s what I look like in my life, right?’ I love the metaphor of her connecting with a more primal and feral side of herself in order to learn how to let go and be present and engaged and flexible and find her joy.”

When she became a mother to her now-14-year-old daughter Aviana: “Every moment needed to be dedicated to the care and keeping of my child,” she says, adding that, while her relationship with Le Gallo was “more equitable” than the marriage in “Nightbitch,” it was tough to be the first of her friend group to become a mother. “Motherhood did redirect my priorities. And I think that changed some relationships. That was hard, but I don’t think it’s uncommon.”

The Nightbitch chin hairs were grown by Adams, they weren’t CGI: In an early scene, Mother discovers new hair growing on her chin, and Adams eagerly volunteered to grow the hair herself. “The hair on the face — that was mine,” she says proudly. “I saw it as a wonderful expression of the human experience without any artifice or filters. Or tweezers! I have that kind of hair that just grows overnight. One day it’s not there, and the next day it’s like I’m a catfish. That might turn some people away.”

On the mixed reviews: “It could be polarizing. I’m kind of like, ‘If you know, you know!’ It deals with friendship, community, relationships, motherhood, parenthood. It hits on a lot of different ancestral wounds. So if it hits you, that’ll make me really happy.”

A six-time Oscar nominee, with no wins: “I am entirely grateful for it, and it also draws attention to films that might not otherwise get eyes on them.”

On Rachel Brosnahan taking the Lois Lane role in James Gunn’s “Superman.” “I love her. She’s gonna be great. Hopefully the role will be infused with her sensibility and her natural humor and strength and wit,” Adams says, also confirming that she was never under the impression she’d be returning for more “Superman” adventures after her final appearance in “Justice League.” She makes a point to praise her own Man of Steel, Henry Cavill, adding, “Henry was a really brilliant Superman. I offer every Superman luck and stuff, but I think he was great. I just wanted to say that. It’s so in his spirit….Coming from theater, a role never belongs to you. You just do a take on it. That’s how I feel about that franchise.”

Working with 22-year-old Jenna Ortega: “I learn so much from the young women that I work with. I feel like I learn more from them than they could ever learn from me. I do forget that I’m not their age sometimes. I’m like, ‘Amy, you’re 50. You’re not gonna hang!’”

Life as a 50-year-old woman: “It gets so much better. But there are things I miss: my joints working, collagen, things like that.”

[From Variety]

Amy’s admission that she grew her chin hairs herself… omg. A brave new world for actresses, honestly. Some women – many women? – have facial hair. I tweeze my chin hairs at the same time I’m grooming my increasingly chaotic eyebrows. It IS catfish-like. As for thinking that she could hang with Jenna Ortega… that’s funny. I can actually picture their conversations and vibe together. Amy looking at Jenna with those wide eyes, thinking that Jenna is the coolest girl in the world. And Jenna is probably like… Amy should come to the club!

Razzie nominations include Ben Affleck, Jared Leto and Diana The Musical

Award season is upon us, and you know what that means – The Razzies! The Razzies, for anyone who needs a refresher, are The Golden Raspberry Awards and they exist to remind Hollywood to have a sense of humor about themselves. The Razzies select what they consider the Worst in every category each year, sometimes making up new categories if they feel a performance or production deserves it. This year, the list heavily favors Jared Leto and his House of Gucci scenery-chewing as well as the terrible decision that was Diana the Musical on Netflix. Oscar hopeful Ben Affleck got called out for The Last Duel and Dear Evan Hansen got all the nominations it deserved. [From Yahoo!]

Obviously, as with any award, you can’t take these nominations as gospel. But I admit, if I see something on the Razzies list, I tend to accept it deserves to be there. So I’m bummed about Karen because I’d wanted to see that. Jared and his 17-pound latex face doesn’t surprise me. You could tell from the trailer he thought he was the standout in that film. And look at that – he was! Just not in the way he’d hoped. I haven’t seen many of the films on the list, but the reason is because I’d heard they were crap. So congratulations to the nominees – well deserved! The only one that surprises me is Affleck’s nomination. I didn’t see The Last Duel, but my Twitter was lit up with praise for that film and his performance. Maybe it was just the people I follow. Or maybe the Razzies just could not get past his terrible wig.

Much of the fun of the Razzies is who shows up to collect them. I don’t know if they’ll have a live ceremony this year but if they do, I think LeBron would show up. Bruce might, it depends on his mood. Amy Adams would accept remotely, I think. To his credit, Leto would, and he’s bring the latex face with him. Affleck’s attendance depends how close his Oscar race is. The Razzie winners are announced the night before the Academy Awards so Oscar voting will be done by then. He might. I hope so. And I hope J.Lo comes with Ben in her Razzie finest.

Gal Gadot in Balmain at the ‘Batman v Superman’ premiere: budget or cute?

wenn23662139

Here are some photos from last night’s giant Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice premiere in NYC. After all of the money spent (well over $400 million-plus), all of the time, all of the effort, all of the extensive reshoots, all of Zack Snyder’s endless lens flares, do you think this movie is even going to be watchable? I don’t even know. What I do know is that the studio is not spreading around extra cash to make sure that their female stars are fashion powerhouses.

Gal Gadot wore this Balmain minidress which… I’m really not feeling for the big Gotham premiere, you know? I’m not saying she had to wear a ball gown, but maybe don’t treat this premiere like it’s a Fast & Furious premiere, I guess. Plus, I genuinely don’t like the dress. I think Gal is so pretty, and the styling does nothing for her.

wenn23662429

Amy Adams wore Tom Ford, in what I kind of assume was a custom-made piece. I like this gown a lot, and it does feel appropriate for the venue, dark and slinky and Gotham-y. I also feel like it’s something Lois Lane would pick out. Right? Incidentally, Amy and Henry Cavill had a really cute interview in this weekend’s Parade Mag about how Superman and Lois are for real, and they’re a real couple with real problems and a real love – . Amy thinks Superman is into giving footrubs to Lois.

wenn23661952

Diane Lane… this dress would have been cute at a day-time event, but I’m not feeling it for this premiere.

wenn23662980

Henry Cavill did not bring his 19-year-old girlfriend to the premiere, which surprises me a little bit. Ben Affleck also seemed to be going stag, and the Batfleck’s face… well… something is going on with him. Yikes.

Bonus photo of Holly Hunter, who plays a senator in the film. I would do anything for Holly. I love seeing her. I wish she didn’t have to do stupid comic-book movies.
