Sting in talks to headline Super Bowl tailgate show

Sting is in talks to headline an NFL Super Bowl pre-game “tailgate” concert as the latest mega pop star to appear in Minneapolis for the big game, Page Six has exclusively learned. During his set, the former Police rocker will perform one number with his recent reggae collaborator Shaggy at the pre-Super Bowl gig on Feb.?4. Other acts are also in talks for the yet-to-be-announced pre-game show. A source close to the league told us that the concert would be at a different site than US Bank Stadium, where the game will be played. Justin Timberlake’s playing halftime, with Pink singing the national anthem and Leslie Odom Jr.crooning “America the Beautiful.” The move to book Sting for the tailgate gig comes as the league further tries to capitalize this year on a new Super Bowl weekend initiative to increase attractions aside from the game — such as concerts, celebrity chef tastings and VIP parties, which were once the domain of third-party promoters and hospitality groups. Pulitzer Prize-winner selling cool Palm Springs home

A Palm Springs compound owned by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Herman Wouk has come on the market at $2.495 million. The stone-walled house, built in the 1940s, was once a retreat of actors Robert Wagner and Natalie Wood. One could say a lot of character has developed here during the decades. Massive fireplaces, carved wood doors, beamed ceilings and deep loggias give the place a romantic vibe. In addition to the five-bedroom main house of about 5,000 square feet, there’s a three-bedroom, two-bathroom guesthouse. The 6,943 square feet of living space include nine bedrooms and nine bathrooms. The wet bar is designed for entertaining, and the sky-lighted kitchen has two separate cooking areas. The gated 1.6-acre property has a swimming pool, a tennis court and parking for a dozen cars. Family finds Rembrandt in the basement, Gets the money

A New Jersey family made some fast money recently when they were cleaning out their basement. The Landau’s said the painting originally belonged to their grandparents until there death when their mother decided to hang it in the dining room.  Something a number of the kids didn’t care for, since the image is of a woman passed out and being revived with smelling salts.  It just doesn’t say “bon appetite!” In 2010 their mother passed and the painting went down into a basement and under a ping pong table.  Fast forward to 2017 and the family decides to auction off some of the things inherited from mom that were just gathering dust. rothers Ned and Steven Landau took the artwork in 2015 to Nye & Company Auctioneers in Bloomfield, where they were initially told it might fetch around $500. John Nye, of Nye & Company, put what appeared to be an unsigned copy of the Rembrandt painting up for auction. “Everybody was caught by surprise. There were only three people in the world that recognized the significance of the painting, and they were all in Europe,” the auctioneer said. When the auction was over the painting had sold for $1.1 million!  The winning bidder had the painting authenticated soon after to prove it was a real Rembrandt and then quickly sold it to a collector for $4.4 million. Logan Paul scripted series scrapped after YouTube video controversy

Logan Paul’s original series for French digital-media company Blackpills has been permanently mothballed. The decision by Blackpills to cut ties with Paul comes after the popular YouTuber posted a video during his trip to Japan on Dec. 31 that included footage of a person who had apparently died from a suicide — and Paul joking about it. After a widespread backlash, Paul deleted the video and apologized. That didn’t stem the tide of criticism and on Wednesday YouTube suspended its business deals with Paul. Under the Blackpills deal, Paul had been tapped to create, write and star in a short-form original series for the mobile-focused service. “Logan Paul’s previously announced project with Blackpills is no longer in development and Blackpills will not be pursuing it at any time in the future,” the company said in a statement to Variety. Jared Fogel wants out of prison

Jared Fogle is making a play to get sprung from prison, because he says the judge who accepted his guilty plea had no jurisdiction to even hear the case. Fogle wrote the legal docs himself, and it’s convoluted for sure, but the essence is that the former Subway pitchman should never have been charged with conspiracy because it doesn’t apply to the basic alleged crime of distributing sexually explicit pictures of minors. Fogle says another crime to which he pled — traveling in interstate commerce in order to engage in unlawful commercial sexual acts with minors — is bogus, because he never traveled out of state to engage in illicit sexual contact and had no involvement in the making of lewd photos of children. Fogle copped a plea to child porn and was sentenced to 15 years and 8 months in prison. He’s served a little more than 2 years. New York man offers ‘snowfort penthouse’ on Airbnb

A New York man is making the most of the city’s winter weather by listing the “snowfort penthouse” he built on his balcony on Airbnb. Michael Koenigs filmed himself transforming the snow on his apartment’s balcony into a “fort” that he is now offering up on the accommodation-finding app. “This comfy snowfort is built to impress with its very own tunnel entrance, breakfast chair, and couch for sleeping (bring your own blankets–BYOB),” Koenigs’ listing reads. “It has sweeping city views and no roof to allow maximum sunlight exposure to help warm you up during the day. The 5 foot-tall snow wall offers some privacy from the prying eyes of nosey New Yorkers.” The snowfort — which is “only available for a limited time because it will melt” — is being offered for $250 a night.
