Nelson Mandela died today, December 5, 2013, after many months of being ill. He was 95.
Mandela died at his Johannesburg home while surrounded by his loving family.
The former South African president and anti-apartheid icon had previously spent 27-years in prison for attempting to sabotage and overthrow his government. He was a gentle leader who will always be remembered as a pioneer of the civil rights movement.
R.I.P. Nelson Mandela.
