Tia Mowry’s divorce agreement: kids can’t meet new partners before 6 months together

Last fall, Tia Mowry and Cory Hardrict announced they were divorcing after 14 years of marriage. I wrote at the time that “their Instagram post was the typical picture of an amicable Hollywood divorce” and that Tia seemed fine and even happy as she talked about living her truth. Now, their divorce has settled, seemingly rather quickly, and everything continues to be assertively fine. They agreed to split everything with regard to their two kids, Tia’s keeping the house, and also they’re not allowed to introduce new partners to their kids until they’ve been dating exclusively for at least six months.

‘Sister, Sister’ star Tia Mowry has officially settled her divorce, and will not pay a dime in support to her ex-husband.

According to new legal documents, obtained by The Blast, Mowry and Cory Hardrict agreed on a simple settlement that will allow each of them to help support their children together on an ongoing basis.

In the filing, the former couple agreed to share joint legal and physical custody of their two kids. Specifically, the duo will split the costs associated with raising their family — including private school tuition and fees for extracurricular activities.

Tia Mowry Keeping Family’s Multi-Million Dollar Home In Divorce Settlement

The famous actress is getting something in this deal that is quite valuable. In the agreement, Mowry will get full ownership of the family’s home in Studio City. It should be noted, that this house is worth $4.3 MILLION. According to Redfin, it “is a 4,871 square foot house on an 8,496 square foot lot with 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. This home is currently off the market – it last sold on October 30, 2015, for $2,600,000. In other words, they might quite the profit since buying the home.

It should be noted, it’s possible Tia paid for the home and is just keeping it in their split.

In the end, Tia will not pay a dime in child support or spousal support.

One interesting clause in this agreement has to do with “new romantic partners.” The former couple entered an entire explanation in the agreement for when and how you are allowed to introduce a new person to the kids. Specifically, it states, “Each party is restrained from introducing the minor children to a new romantic partner until the party has been in an exclusive relationship with the romantic partner for at least six months.”

Famous Ex-Couple Agrees Not To Speak Negatively About Each Other In The Future

It continues, “Each party is further restrained from permitting his or her new romantic partner from spending overnights with the minor children are with that custodial parent during the first six months of the exclusive relationship.

Also, Tia and Cory are not allowed to speak negatively about the other one in front of the kids. The agreement spells out this as neither party shall speak “in a negative, disrespectful or derogatory manner to or about the other party in the children’s presence or within hearing distance of the minor children.” Plus, they are forced to make sure other family members and friends comply with this order.

[From Yahoo! Life]

Like that article notes, that clause about dating is interesting, but makes a lot of sense. Not that there necessarily would have been many new partners on either end, but the kids are 11 and 5 and can get easily confused by or attached to new people. Interesting wording about the “exclusive relationship,” because that likely pushes the timeline out a bit longer since often people date around a bit first before choosing one person to date exclusively. The former couple also agreed not to speak negatively about each other in front of their kids and to ensure that their other friends and family don’t either. That’s also a really good clause to get in the agreement, considering even small negative comments can have quite the effect on kids (and adults). And splitting legal and physical custody and all costs for the kids — all of this seems exceedingly, refreshingly reasonable and mature, which is nice to see because divorces often are not. The things I found a bit interesting were Tia keeping the home and not paying any spousal or child support, but maybe Cory just opted out.

Tia Mowry: Kids ‘would call my sister and I Buckwheat twins’

I don’t follow Tia Mowry that closely, but I’m always interested to see what she’s up to. The last I’d really checked in on her she was getting a divorce after 14 years of marriage and she seemed really good and at peace about the whole thing. Now she’s launching a natural hair care line called “4U.” Tia said her goal is to create a hair care line that is inclusive and empowering for women of color, citing her own experiences with hair discrimination as part of her motivation.

Tia Mowry, 44, is diving head first into the hair care space.

Since lighting up our living rooms in 1994 — along with her sister, Tamera Mowry-Housley on Sister, Sister — one thing that always allured the star’s fans were those vivacious curls and how she maintains them. Well, the mom of two has heard the call and is officially launching her own natural hair care product line, available exclusively at Walmart starting today. Titled 4U by Tia Mowry, the line is clean, sustainable and made with all the products every naturalista will recognize.

When it came to creating 4U, one of Mowry’s top priorities was formulating an inclusive line that would be effective for people with all types of curls and coils. Fortunately for the CEO, founder and creative director of the brand, the diversity she sought began right in her home.

“I take pride in this is a formula that works for hair textures ranging from 2A to 4C,” she told PEOPLE. “It was important for me to simplify my hair care routine or just the routine in general when it comes to curly hair. I have three different textures in this house. My daughter has a different hair texture than I do and so does my son.”

“But growing up with curly hair, the routine has always been so incredibly overwhelming,” the mom to son Cree, 11, and daughter Cairo, 4, continued. “You would have eight different hair care products for all of the different individuals within the household, and I wanted to simplify that. It was really important for me to create a formula that works on all hair textures.”

In addition to having the lived experience of a woman of color with curly hair plus her decades-long tenure in the entertainment industry, Mowry knows firsthand what it’s like to be underrepresented in the hair and beauty space.

“I feel like women of color and just women that looked like me with our hair texture weren’t always celebrated, a part of or included whenever it came to beauty, it was always leaning more towards European standards,” she told PEOPLE.

“I remember going to school and I was picked on when it came to my hair, I was told that I looked like Buckwheat…They would call my sister and I Buckwheat twins. Oh, They would say that, ‘Oh, your hair is frizzy,’ or ‘Your hair is greasy,’ or ‘What’s that white stuff in your hair?’ Even when I got into my twenties after Sister, Sister, when I would audition, I wasn’t getting roles because costume director[s] said my hair was a distraction.”

[From People]

I’m not surprised she and her sister got picked on because of her hair as a child. I think most women of color with natural hair have stories like that from their youth, with Black hair and features not being celebrated or seen as “mainstream.” It’s absurd that costume considered her hair a distraction, but also not surprising. There are a few Black celebrities that have launched natural hair care lines at this point — Tracee Ellis Ross, Gabrielle Union, Taraji P. Henson and now Tia. And I’m here for it. It’s a nice addition to the over-saturated celebrity makeup market and also it’s nice to know that these products geared toward Black hair are Black-owned. I recently learned that Mizani, a brand that is geared toward Black hair and used at my Black hair salon, is not actually Black-owned. Even though it works, I’d rather pay to maintain my Black hair with products by a Black-owned business. So maybe I’ll be trying Tia’s products in the near future. I like what she says about simplifying the routine. My current routine has too many steps and I’d love to cut it down a bit.

Tia Mowry: ‘When you are living in your truth, amazing, wonderful things happen’

Tia Mowry and her husband, Cory Hardrict, announced a couple of weeks ago that they are divorcing after 14 years of marriage. Their Instagram post was the typical picture of an amicable Hollywood divorce: separate ways, maintaining a friendship, coparenting, grateful for the happy times, new chapters, moving forward, etc. Pretty much what you’d expect. And Tia seems fine. Like, extremely, extra, fine. She appeared at the Elle Women in Hollywood gala and talked about how fantastic and blessed and supported she feels. She also talked about authenticity and how she plans to live her truth in her next chapter.

Tia Mowry isn’t letting anything keep her down. The actress was in high spirits as she attended the star-studded Elle Women in Hollywood gala on Monday, at the Getty Center in Los Angeles.

ET’s Deidre Behar spoke with Mowry at the elegant event, and she smiled broadly as she reflected on how she was feeling just weeks after she announced that her and her husband, Cory Hardrict are ending their marriage after 14 years.

“I’m doing fantastic. I am doing great. I feel very blessed, I feel very honored to be here,” Mowry shared. “I am all about women empowerment, and supporting women.”

Since announcing the news of her divorce earlier this month, Mowry has been met with overwhelming support and love from her famous friends and devoted fans.

“I have to be honest with you, I am so overwhelmed by the love and support I’ve received,” Mowry shared with a warm smile. “I’m so grateful of the community and the fans that I have.”

“I’m all about inspiring and encouraging, and the DMs that I’ve gotten from so many women who are going through the same thing… it has just been [amazing],” she added. “I feel so blessed.”

Mowry also addressed how her and Hardrict’s two children — 11-year-old son Cree and 4-year-old daughter Cairo — are holding up amid the big life changes.

“They are doing amazing,” Mowry shared. “Cairo, she is so wonderful. She’s awesome… and they’re all so happy. And that means the world to me, my children.”

As for how she defines this next, exciting chapter in her life, Mowry used one key word: “Authenticity.”

“I think authenticity, it’s very magical. When you are living in your truth, and your honesty, I feel like amazing, wonderful things happen,” Mowry shared. “And so I just want to encourage all of the women out there to live in their truth and to live in their authenticity.”

Mowry shared the news of her divorce with her fans in a note on her Instagram on Oct. 4.

“I have always been honest with my fans, and today is no different. I wanted to share that Cory and I have decided to go our separate ways,” she wrote next to a picture of her and Hardrict. “These decisions are never easy, and not without sadness. We will maintain a friendship as we co-parent our beautiful children. I am grateful for all the happy times we had together and want to thank my friends, family and fans for your love and support as we start this new chapter moving forward in our lives.”

[From ET Online]

Tia was always my favorite of the twins, I’m not sure why. And then she was on The Game, which I loved. She seems… good? Like, almost too good. Her recent Instagram posts are similarly upbeat and she’s been doing sage and stuff. I hate to be skeptical of someone so upbeat, but I always am when someone seems positive to the exclusion of all other emotions. Perhaps when she talks about living her authentic truth she means the divorce was a long time coming and so she’s already processed it and is at peace now. But all the excessive fantastic, amazing, fineness makes it seem a bit like a front, or a brave face. I hope that’s not the case and she really is feeling as good as she says! Both have denied any wrongdoing on Cory’s part. Cory said he loves his family, kids, and wife, in an Instagram video. And they exchanged professions of love in Instagram comments. It’s all very “nothing to see here!”

Tia Mowry on her sister Tamera: ‘She cannot lie to me, and I cannot lie to her’

Tia and Tamera Mowry celebrated their 43rd birthdays on Tuesday. Both sisters posted tributes to each other on Instagram, reaffirming their love and support for one another. The sisters have talked about how COVID affected their ability to see each other as often that they’d like. But despite the physical distance of the last year, they have kept their relationship strong with happy hour Zoom dates twice a month. Tia, who is now a spokeswoman for Lactaid milk, recently appeared on the People Everyday podcast with Janine Rubenstein. Tia talked about her relationship with Tamera. Tia chalks their closeness up to the fact that they shared a womb. Tia went on to say that Tamera can’t lie to her nor can she lie to Tamera because they have “twintuition.” Below are a few more highlights:

“I’m pretty sure it’s still there,” Tia says of their special link. “It’s just a part of being a twin. You have that built in twintuition. You really, really do.”

But Tia and Tamera haven’t had much twin time during the COVID-19 pandemic. “We haven’t seen each other as much as we would like to, because of the circumstances,” she explains. “Now that things are opening up, we have been able to spend more time together.”

But even forced time apart can’t weaken their bond: “She cannot lie to me, and I cannot lie to her, man. Really,” says Tia. “Because we just know each other. You know what I mean? We shared the womb. We call each other womb-mates.”

[From People]

I love Tia. I follow her Youtube channel and I love how she keeps it real. Her family is adorable too. Tia and Tamera have never allowed fame to disrupt their relationship or force them to compete against each other. If anything, they have allowed their very different life choices to bring them closer together. My mom is a twin and her twin sister has a set of twins. Both sets always talk about how they can feel each other when they are going through something. So I believe Tia when she says she and Tamera share “twintuition.” I also love the term “womb-mates” it is so cute. I have always wanted to be a twin because I feel like there is something very special about their connection to each other that other siblings do not share. And if the twins are identical I have a feeling that connection is even more intense. Anyways, I can’t believe Tia and Tamera are now 43 years old. I am not sure why I thought that they were much younger than me because I was too old (I was already enlisted in the Navy) to really be into their show when it aired in the 90s (although I watched it sometimes). Hopefully Tia and Tamara will post some of their adult shenanigans on Instagram. Happy Birthday to them.

Want To Know How Much Celebs Get Paid Per Tweet?

kim kardashian with long bangs

Kim Kardashian is always tweeting about something inane. Sometimes she’ll try to tweet about a product without it being incredibly obvious that they’re asking her to. But it’s always obvious. Lohan has been doing her own product endorsement, although the company claims they are not paying her.

And yes, apparently some celebs get paid to tweet about companies and products — even the D-list celebs. The more followers/famous the celeb, the more money they can command per tweet. For example, Kim Kardashian can get (allegedly) around $20,000 per tweet. Frankie Muniz can only get $252. (Nelson Muntz laugh here.)
