George Clooney appeared on The Ellen Show this week to promote Hail Caesar, his latest film offering and probably the first Clooney film I’ve been interested in for a very long time. But I love the Coen Brothers and I love that they almost always cast Clooney as a dunce. We haven’t had a good old fashioned Clooney promotional tour since last year’s Tomorrowland, during which we were inundated with stories about Amal Clooney and how fantastic/brilliant/amazing she is.
I’m at the point now where I think George partially (or mostly) got married to change his branding, his script, his public persona. He was at a point in his life where his stories were no longer “cute,” so he had to get some new stories. Enter Amal. And now he can’t (or won’t) shut up about her, about their marriage, about their wedding and all of it. So, when he was chatting with Ellen, he went into detail about how he proposed. This story has the weird vibe of feeling too rehearsed and completely untrue.
Here are some photos from the Variety 2014 Power Of Women event held on Friday. Jennifer Lopez, Reese Witherspoon and Viola Davis were all honored, and they all came out. There was a definite “ladies’ night” feel to the event, but it was nice. The fashion? Not great. First up: Jennifer Lopez in Valentino. I’m okay with the red and black. I’m okay with it being a minidress. I’m more than okay with the sleeves. I’m even okay with the animal print. But it feels like the collar is overkill, right? It’s just one styling trick too far.
Here’s Reese Witherspoon in another red – this is Dolce&Gabbana. Believe it or not, this might be my favorite look of the evening. That’s not saying much, I know. But I like this a lot. I tend to like Reese in either very clean, minimalist looks or very vintage-y 1950s stuff. This feels vintagey too me.
Viola in Escada. This looks like a half-assed version of a Roland Mouret design. I would love to see Viola rock some clean Mouret styles, because this Escada isn’t cutting it. I like her in pale blue, but I’m not feeling the darting or the neckline. The shoes are kind of bad too. I hate to say this about my love Viola, but she could do way better than this.
Easily my least favorite look of the event: Lizzy Caplan in Elie Saab. All of this is just NO. The white lace panels look horrible, and I’m sorry but the only time white lace panels are allowed is on wedding gowns. The lace on the skirt is unnecessary and I have no idea what’s happening with that collar and faux-blouse effect. It’s like she’s wearing a “work dickie” with an ugly wedding dress.
Stacy Keibler in Naeem Khan. Her body looks crazy. The dress is surprisingly cute, mostly because the bubble-gum pink feels refreshing. The fit is great too.
Eva Longoria in a lovely burgundy Cushnie et Ochs dress. Great color on her, kind of boring silhouette.
I just wanted to include Teri Hatcher because chica needs to PUT DOWN THE BOTOX.
Well, I’m glad that’s over. Stacy Keibler gave birth to her first child, a baby girl, on Wednesday. The announcement came on Friday. The next ladies to give birth are Eva Mendes and Mila Kunis, I believe. Anyway, Stacy wasn’t too annoying in the last month of her pregnancy, but around May and June, she was going overboard. She acted like she was a pregnancy expert and she was fat-shaming other pregnant women for daring to eat donuts during their pregnancies. She was exhausting. But she shut up for the most part after people were like, “Damn, Stacy. Ease up.” Anyway, she welcomed a healthy baby girl named Ava Grace.
Stacy Keibler’s bun in the oven is finally fully cooked! The actress and TV host welcomed her first child, a daughter, with husband Jared Pobre on Wednesday, Aug. 20, she announced on her website Friday.
“Jared and I have been blessed with the new love of our lives. Ava Grace was born at home on Wednesday,” she writes. “We’ve never experienced a level of joy and happiness like this before! Thank you so much for all of the special wishes and positive energy.”
The pregnancy was smooth sailing for Keibler, 34, who announced she and Pobre, a tech entrepreneur, were expecting a baby shortly after the couple tied the knot in March during a beach ceremony in Mexico.
“I haven’t had one day where I’ve been sick or tired,” Keibler told PEOPLE.
Instead of morning sickness and third trimester exhaustion, pending parenthood brought only good things for Keibler, who told Fit Pregnancy her marriage was already stronger.
“Our bond is so strong and special and getting pregnant has made it even more so. It’s been so much fun preparing to become new parents together,” the mom-to-be said in May.
Thoughts on the name? Ava Grace is pretty, but at this point, it’s like naming your child Boring McAverage. My apologies to everyone who named their daughters Ava and/or Grace, but those are like two of the top baby names this year and they’ve been super-popular for years, along with Isabella, Madison, Madelyn and Lily. All of little Ava Grace’s schoolmates are going to be named Madison Grace and Lily Grace and Isabella Rose and Ava Madison. Surely there’s a happy-medium between choosing the most popular baby name OR choosing a name like Saint Lazslo?

Beyonce posted this photo with Solange, Luptia Nyong’o and Sarah Paulson at the MET Gala, which is the night the alleged fight took place. (instagram.com/beyonce)
-The Jay Z/Solange elevator fight video is burning up the interwebs right now. If you haven’t watched TMZ’s extended version, it’s worth it. Clearly, the security guard pressed the emergency stop button until he could get things under control (either that, or they’re on the longest elevator ride ever.) The prevailing theory is that Solange was either super drunk the night of the MET Gala (though the way she got her shit together as soon as she exited the elevator makes me wonder), or that she was defending Beyonce over something Jay did (which lends credence to some blind items and rumours). The most surprising thing is how Bey appears super stoic during the whole thing — and then turns on the smiles for the paparazzi immediately after. For someone who’s always controlled her image so fiercely, today must suck for her.
-Whatever happened, Solange reportedly deleted all of her pics of Beyoncefrom her Instagram.
-Speaking of blind items, Jennifer Esposito nearly confirmed some rumours about Bradley Cooper.
–George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin had a star-studded engagement party in Malibu that included a serenade by Bono. So basically, they continue to win at life.
-Meanwhile, Stacy Keibler wants to remind you that she’s alive with a “hey! hey! look over here!” post.
-There’s lots of news coming out of the network upfronts this week. NBC confirmed that they’re bringing back Parenthood and Parks and Rec for shortened, final seasons. They also released trailers for some of their new shows. Marry Me (which feels like a sequel to Happy Endings) and Constantine may have promise. Katherine Heigl‘s State of Affairs looks predictably awful.
-Fox also announced some big moves, including pairing Gotham with Sleepy Hollow, reducing Glee’s final season, and promising that Graceland will have a different ending than Broadchurch.
-Speaking of Broadchurch, David Tennantmight be the first guy to jump from an original series to the American remake and back.
–Jane Krakowski is getting back in bed with Tina Fey.
–Dan Harmoncurrently feels “eh” on whether Community should come back somewhere else. Netflix has already bowed out.
–Scarlett Johansson and her fiancé attended an English wedding — and she didn’t bother to wear a fascinator. #missedopportunity.
–Eminem‘s Mother’s Day message to his estranged mom was all kinds of sweet.
-I like this article about all the politics involved with appearing on the Cannes red carpet.
–Jon Hamm hammed it up while taking selfies with his Don Draper wax figure.
–Jennifer Lawrence almost fell down (again!) while walking the red carpet in a truly terrible dress. (Seriously, is that thing velvet?!)
-Meanwhile, Jennifer says boyfriend Nicholas Hoult is a great roommate.
-Whatever you do, don’t put Anna Wintour and Tim Gunn in a room together.
-Breathe easy, everyone. Chris Brown was sentenced to another 131 days in jail.
-How are they still adding cast members to the 50 Shades movie, which is well into production? Aaron Taylor-Johnson just joined the cast, which seems like a terrible career move.
–Justin Timberlake appeared on last night’s episode of Oprah’s Master Class, where he dropped such bon mots as “When you look at me, you should understand that I am America.”
-Speaking of douche-tastic sound bites, Shia LaBeouf said: “At this point, I have enough money to live 25 lifetimes,” before telling a totally made up story about Jaden Smith. Go home, Shia. You’re drunk.
-THR has started posting Emmy roundtables. First up: showrunners Matthew Weiner, Vince Gilligan and Aaron Sorkin.
-Nice get: Octavia Spencer is joining the cast of Insurgent, the sequel to Divergent.
–Sherri Shepherd and her estranged husband are expecting a baby via surrogate … and he wants the kid.
-I’m guessing Beyonce was wishing we were still all talking about her weekend photo bomb right now.
–Lea Michele posted a heartbreaking pic of Cory Monteith in honour of his birthday.
-I kind of wish Melissa McCarthy could break free from these types of roles, especially since her hubby wrote this movie.

If you’ve been paying attention to George Clooney’s Engagement Spectacular, you know that “someone” (George’s publicist) has been lacing the happy-happy stories with not-so-subtle shade for George’s ex-girlfriends. “Someone” has ensured that we never think of Amal Alamuddin like those other uneducated, unambitious, unserious, fame-hungry golddiggers that George has dated before. Which has made many us wonder, “What’s up with that?” I mean, no one forced Clooney to “Pretty Woman” this succession of C-listers before Amal. And now we’re in the position of actually feeling sorry for Clooney’s Former Girls. Like, say, Stacy Keibler. Keibler moved on VERY quickly after George, and she’s already married and knocked up. But someone thinks she’s still “irked” by George’s Fiancée Rollout.
Did Stacy Keibler get played by Hollywood’s most infamous playboy? George Clooney’s April 22 proposal to British human rights attorney Amal Alamuddin was a surprise to many, including the Gravity actor’s ex-girlfriend, who once thought she’d be the one saying “I do” to the longtime bachelor.
A source reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly that Keibler, 34, was “irked” by her ex’s engagement last month. “When George and Stacy got together, he told her she would be the one he’d marry — and that they could have kids,” the insider tells Us of the former model, who dated Clooney, 52, for two years before their split in July 2013.
Alas, that vision of domestic bliss never came to be for the couple. But all’s well that ends well — Keibler married businessman Jared Pobre in March and is now expecting the couple’s first child, a baby girl, later this year. And a pal insists there’s no bad blood between her and Clooney.
“Stacy’s happy for George,” the second insider tells Us. “She is glad he was able to find true love.”
[From Us Weekly]
Just an hour or so after Us Weekly dropped that story online, Gossip Cop got a tip from a “a source close to the situation.” Why can’t they just say it’s Stacy? Because it’s Stacy. So, Gossip Cop’s source says that Us Weekly’s story is “100% false” and “Stacy is so happy with the way things worked out. She has found her perfect match and is excited to start a family. She is so happy that George has done the same and feels strongly that things in life happen for a reason.” And if you read Stacy’s wedding interview in People Magazine, you will understand when I say that FOR SURE Stacy made a statement to Gossip Cop. That sounds just like her.
So, while George’s publicist is making sure everyone knows that Amal is nothing like any of Clooney’s exes, Stacy is bending over backwards to make sure that no one thinks she’s still hung up on Clooney. But the fact that she ran to Gossip Cop right away makes me think otherwise.
