In 2020, I remember reading and covering some stuff about Denise Richards’ second husband Aaron Phypers and being shocked by what he actually does for a living. We knew, at the time, that he operated a “healing center” in Malibu. What we learned in 2020 was that Phypers is a full-on con artist selling newfangled snake oil to gullible rich people. He believes that he can regenerate body parts with his mind because he was exposed to a nuclear explosion and the government was tracking him because he knew too much and he healed people. And on and on. It was pretty wild. Well, good news? Denise and Aaron are getting a divorce.

Aaron Phypers and Denise Richards are ending their marriage. According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Phypers, 52, filed for divorce on Monday, July 7, after six years of marriage. He listed their date of separation as July 4 and cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split.

Per the docs, Phypers requested spousal support from Richards, 54, and also asked to keep their assets and debts as separate property, including his power tools, motorcycle and sports car.

The couple share no minor children, although Richards previously shared that Phypers was in the process of adopting her daughter Eloise, 14. It is unclear if it was ever made official.

The actress — who first met her soon-to-be ex at his work practice, a healing center in Malibu, where she was going for “preventative DNA repair” — began dating Phypers in June 2017. They kept their engagement private and tied the knot in a last-minute ceremony in Malibu on Sept. 8, 2018.

Prior to their relationship, Phypers was briefly married to Desperate Housewives star Nicollette Sheridan. They finalized their divorce in August 2018. Richards was also previously married to Charlie Sheen. She and the actor were together from 2002 to 2006, and they share daughters Sami and Lola.

I’m pretty sure no one is the “good guy” here, but I’m glad Denise is getting away from this guy, even if it sort of sounds like HE is getting away from HER. Two problematic people falling apart… a tale as old as time. I also find it interesting that he wants spousal support?? Dude is convinced that he can regrow body parts with his mind, surely his business is doing well? Apparently, a few months ago, Denise swore that she and Aaron would never divorce. Aaron was like “watch this.”
