Kat Von D‘s lipstick was pulled from makeup retailer Sephora because of controversy. I’d hoped it was because people finally realized Kat Von D sucks and shouldn’t get money, but no. It’s because of the name of the shade, which is, “Celebutard.” More on the lipstick fury from USA Today:
The name, a term for a not-so-bright celebrity that references “retard,” is plain offensive, says Faith Bodnar, the executive director of Inclusion BC, a non-profit that promotes the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in community life.
“It should have never been on the shelves to begin with,” Bodnar told CTV News. “It’s degrading, and there’s no place for it.”
Kat Von D’s other shades have lovely names like, “Underage Red,” “Hellbent,” “Backstage Bambi” and “Lolita.”
“Celebutard” is being pulled from her line. Her response?
“At the end of the day, it’s just a f-cking lipstick.” Well, yeah, but at the end of the day, you’re lucky you even have a job, so maybe don’t be such a celebutard abou it. I’m sorry, that was bad.
What do you think? Is this political correctness gone too far, or is it appropriate?
