Kobe Bryant memorabilia auction coming to Beverly Hills

It’s been a month now since Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, and seven others died as a result of a helicopter crash in Calabasas, CA.  Kobe fans continue to make daily posts to social media expressing their love for the NBA legend. Since then the memorial service was held, some controversial photos were found to be taken at the scene, a number of homages were done in Kobe’s name.  And now a previously planned auction is about to sell off some pretty personal items of Kobes. An auction featuring some of Bryant’s Lakers uniforms along with his handprints, according to USA TODAY, will be on the block from April 27-30 in Beverly Hills, CA at Juliens Auctions Beverly Hills. This is part of their annual sports auctions. The auction has made it clear though that the Bryant memorabilia was set to be auctioned prior to his death on January 26. One of the Lakers uniforms features his No. 8 jersey from the 2000s NBA Finals. The post Kobe Bryant memorabilia auction coming to Beverly Hills appeared first on Today's Evil Beet Gossip.

It’s Official: Kobe Bryant Is Retiring

Admittedly, I’m not much of a sports fan, so this announcement doesn’t hit me quite as hard as it will Lakers fans everywhere: Kobe Bryant is officially retiring at the end of the season. I guess after you make a couple hundred mil, you don’t really need to get off your ass anymore. Kobe put out an “emotional” statement regarding his decision in the form of a love letter to the sport, which is actually pretty great (though I do always wonder if celebrities write things like this themselves or if that’s a PA’s job). Here’s the piece in full: Dear Basketball, From the moment I started rolling my dad’s tube socks And shooting imaginary Game-winning shots In the Great Western Forum I knew one thing was real: I fell in love with you. A love so deep I gave you my all — From my mind & body To my spirit & soul. As a six-year-old boy Deeply in love with you I never saw the end of the tunnel. I only saw myself Running out of one. And so I ran. I ran up and down every court After every loose ball for you. You asked for my hustle I gave you my heart Because it came with so much more. I played through the sweat and hurt Not because challenge called me But because YOU called me. I did everything for YOU Because that’s what you do When someone makes you feel as Alive as you’ve made me feel. You gave a six-year-old boy his Laker dream And I’ll always love you for it. But I can’t love you obsessively for much longer. This season is all I have left to give. My heart can take the pounding My mind can handle the grind But my body knows it’s time to say goodbye. And that’s OK. I’m ready to let you go. I want you to know now So we both can savor every moment we have left together. The good and the bad. We have given each other All that we have. And we both know, no matter what I do next I’ll always be that kid With the rolled up socks Garbage can in the corner :05 seconds on the clock Ball in my hands. 5 … 4 … 3 … 2 … 1 Love you always, Kobe Will you miss Kobe Bryant, or were you never really a Lakers fan? Will his absence be noticeable from the NBA? The post It’s Official: Kobe Bryant Is Retiring appeared first on Today's Evil Beet Gossip.
