In a turn of events that literally everyone saw coming, it seems as though there will be no marital bliss for Kate Hudson and (ex-)fiancé and Muse frontman Matt Bellamy, as they’ve decided to call off their engagement. This is, of course, hardly a surprise, since even as far back as last March, Kate had stopped wearing her engagement ring.  They seemed to be trying to work things out over the summer, but alas, some things are not meant to be and now it’s all over. “Kate and Matt have been separated for some time now,” Hudson’s rep tells PEOPLE. “Despite this, they remain very close friends and committed co-parents.” Makes sense, and good for them. Then again, I really hate the necessity of people who split up to insist that they’re still great friends, as if that’s a pre-requisite to having a “successful” transition from couple to single people. Guess what: most exes aren’t really friends, at least not for a long while, and that’s okay! It’s actually HEALTHY for you to not be friends with your ex for a while after ending the relationship. Anyhow, good luck to them both. Matt has band shit going on, I’m sure, and Kate has… Farmville or something, and they’re both selling wine, so everything will be just fine. Also, this is the way to do it – they were smart enough to actually spend time being engaged instead of quickly running down the aisle. This will make things a whole lot easier, legally speaking. Kate Hudson Isn’t Wearing Her Wedding Ring

Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy have been engaged since 2011 but have never actually gone through with a wedding. That might’ve been a good decision, since rumours have been flying lately that the pair have broken up. Kate seems to have perpetuated those reports lately by turning up to the Oscars on Sunday night without her engagement ring. E Online! thinks they have the scoop: Five days earlier, at BVLGARI’s Decades of Glamour event, Hudson also ditched her diamond sparkler. The ring removal comes amid widespread speculation that her relationship with Matthew Bellamy is on the rocks. “They are OK. They go through their ups and downs like every other couple,” a source told E! News. “It’s true that occasionally they don’t spend as much time together as they would like—work pulls them apart from time to time. But they are working on strengthening their relationship.” So, are they together or aren’t they? And does anyone actually care? Kate Hudson hasn’t been doing much of anything lately and Muse sucks (unpopular opinion, but deal with it), so I don’t think it’s all eyes on this celebrity couple or anything.
